The public is invited to “Veterans Light the Path for Freedom” hosted by the Wa-Pe-Ke-Way Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11 to honor local veterans.
The event was held last year by the chapter in an effort to social distance and was so well attended and received by area residents, the chapter will repeat the event, said Rhonda Beck, Chapter and Indiana State Chair for Service for Veterans.
Red, white and blue luminaria are placed completely around the Hendricks County Court House Square in Danville. Each one bears the name of an area veteran, their branch of service and conflict (if any).
Beck said the luminaries look amazing after dark and expects an additional 300 or more luminaria to be added this year bringing the total to 1000 or more. The chapter’s work with their military banner project and other events with veterans has provided them opportunity to gather numerous additional names.
A brief ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the east side of the Court House, then patriotic music will be played while attendees walk around the Square to find their names or those of loved ones.
In addition to the luminaria, Wa-Pe-Ke-Way Chapter members annually place 133 flags on the Courthouse lawn on Veterans Day for each of the individuals from Hendricks County who died while serving our country. Each flag is accompanied by a marker providing their name. This year photos of the individuals will be added in a separate display.
The public is encouraged to contact the chapter with names of area residents who are veterans, living or deceased, so a luminaria can be made for them or if they just want to check if there is already a luminary in their name. There is no cost for the luminaria. The chapter does retain them, however, so they can be used in future years.

Because some families have several family members that served in the military, the chapter will once again make every attempt to group families and friends together for “photo ops.” Names must be received no later than November 8, at noon.

Blood Drive Saves Lives
Ferguson Hardware, 1503 E. Main, Danville, and The Republican newspaper recently hosted a blood drive through Versiti/ Indiana Blood Center. Ten units were collected. That is 30 lives saved through a blood drive.
The blood is broken into three components (red cells, platelets, and plasma) that can go to three different patients. Thanks to everyone that turned out to give.

Danville FFA Benefit Dinner
Friends of the Danville FFA will host their annual benefit, Raising Green for the Blue & Gold, on Thursday, November 18, at 6 p.m.
The live and silent auction fundraiser will take place in the Hendricks County Conference Center, 1900 E. Main, Danville. A Pork Burger & BBQ Dinner will be part of the evening’s events.
Legion Salute Veterans’ Day
American Legion Post 118, Danville, will host their traditional Veterans’ Day salute on Thursday, November 11, at 11 a.m., on the east side of the Court House yard.
Post members will place a wreath at the War Memorial and fire a volley, followed by the sounding of Taps.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
Season #4
Hendricks County’s only professional sports team will step onto the hardwood for its fourth season on Saturday, November 6, at 5 p.m., as the Indiana Lyons start competitive play at the “Lyons Den,,” 49 N. Wayne St., Danville.
Local Boy Plays Good
Danville High School graduate Dillon Ware is starting his second season with the Indiana Lyons. During the three 2021 preseason games Dillon scored a total of 85 points, 35 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals.
The Indiana Lyons are members of the American
Basketball Association (ABA), which is comprised of nearly 200 teams across North America and Japan.
Last year, the Lyons became the ABA North Central Region Champions and competed in the 2021 ABA Final Eight Tournament.
CEO Tyrone Brown and his wife, Deborah, co-owners of the Lyons, aim to support the players on and off the court, mentally and emotionally, to help build character. At the same time, they strive to provide a safe fun, and affordable environment that makes families feel they, too, have ownership in the team.
This season’s roster includes Kenny Davis; Mike Pugh (2020-21 ABA All- Star); Dillon Ware; Alex Brown; Kendric Lee (2021- 21 ABA All-Star; Jordan Hidelberg; Tee Williams; Mike Carter; Jordon Morris; Preston Case; Damon Craig; and Tracey Ganow.

2021 Tox-Away Days Results
The results are in and the 2021 Hendricks County Recycling District Tox- Away Days were a success.
The five scheduled Tox- Away Days were taken advantage of by 4,135 users, who proprerly recycled and disposed of 361,343 lbs. of chemicals, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, tires, elctronics and appliances.

Treblemakers Prepare For Holiday Season Programs
Hendricks County Choral Club, also known as The Treblemakers, are preparing for the Holiday Season! Their group of Extension Homemakers entertain throughout Hendricks and surrounding counties sharing their talent and spirit.
In December, the group will entertain at the Homemakers’ annual Holiday Fest on Friday, December 3, at the Hendricks Co. Fairgrounds and then host their own concert Saturday, December 4, at 3:00 p.m. at the Hendricks County Senior Center, 1201 Sycamore Lane, Danville.

Groundbreaking for Ronald Reagan Logistics Center at Brownsburg
Tuesday, the Town of Brownsburg, along with developer Scannell Properties and general contractor The Peterson Company, broke ground on the first phase of the Ronald Reagan Logistics Center @ I-74, a multi-facility logistics and distribution center development.
The first phase of this two-phase development includes four buildings totaling 1,411,800 SF and parking space for 298 trailers and 774 cars. Pepper Construction of Indiana is the general contractor for one of the buildings, to be complete by next fall. The Peterson Company is the general contractor for the other three buildings, one of which will be complete in June 2022, and the last two will be complete by next fall.
“Ronald Reagan Logistics Center is just the sort of development the Ronald Reagan Parkway was built to serve. We are so excited to welcome this development to Brownsburg and believe this park will be a catalyst for future industrial and commercial development for our community,” said Travis Tschaenn, Brownsburg Town Council president.
“Brownsburg is a perfect location for a logistics center like this. The huge growth of e-commerce is likely to continue, and consumers want to receive their products fast. From Brownsburg, goods can reach nearly 60% of the U.S. in one day,” said Shaun Cofer, development manager at Scannell Properties.
Phase two of the development will launch in the fall of 2022 and may include five facilities totaling more than 2.4 million SF along with several retail opportunities.
“We at Peterson are thrilled to be working with such a top-notch company like Scannell Properties in a forward-thinking community like Brownsburg. Both Scannell and Brownsburg have high standards, and Peterson will work diligently to uphold their vision for this up-and-coming development,” said Larry Siegler, chief operating officer for Peterson.
