Sherriff’s department among others to show video of the program and share what it was all about. “Our vision is for it not to always be hosted at Kingsway. We know that the church doors can be a barrier for some, so we’d like to eventually have Kingsway host the event but have it at a different location in the county,” Cadwell said.

e a 30te vol- By Melissa Gibson nd fall n your Kingsway Christian Church in Avon recently hosted a Global Leadership Summit (GLS) through the Global ng vol- Leadership Network in an effort to bring part of their newBelow ly revised five-year vision to reality. 0-452- The GLS is an event hosted in more than 500 sites d click across North America and 1,000 additional sites across the mation. globe. Speakers from all over the world offer a variety of _____ education, encouragement and direction and include authors, pastors, CEO’s, military leaders and more. “We want to not only grow leaders in our church, but also in our community,” said Executive Pastor Brett Cadwell. “We believe everyone has influence, whether you’re a pastor, a small business owner, a waiter, student, stay at home parent or caregiver, when the leader gets better, everything around them gets better.” Cadwell said the GLS program has been in exExecutive Pastor Brett Cadistence for 27 years and well hosted the local portion of event. while it began as a confer- the ________________________ ence for pastors, it quickly became something anyone can benefit from. Today, church leaders are the minority group attending the summit and healthcare workers, teachers and businesses flock to the opportunity. Earlier this month, Cadwell and the staff and volunteers from Kingsway hosted more than 200 members of the community to learn more about leadership development. “We had everything from construction companies that attend every year to our local counseling center, Care to Change. They also had access to separate rooms for breakout sessions after lunch, allowing them to meet and go over what they were learning and how to apply it to the workplace,” Cadwell said. Prior to the summit, Kingsway offered several leader connect events, inviting members of churches, public school systems in the county and the Hendricks County

State Representative John Crane and others worked together to host the first-ever GLS program at the Indiana Statehouse. ____________________________________________________

For the first time in their 27-year history, GLS was shown in one Statehouse in the country – the Indiana Statehouse. “We celebrated that from our site at Kingsway,” Cadwell said. “I can’t think of a better way for our politicians to spend their day.” Neither can many others that attended the two-day event. “I didn’t hear one negative comment. What we heard most often was they wished they had brought someone with them; their boss, their team or their family. It’s hard to explain until you’ve experienced it,” Cadwell said. Kingsway isn’t stopping there. In January, the church released their new five-year vision focusing on four paths; to thrive spiritually, multiply impact, love their neighbors and to grow leaders. The GLS summit event was just the beginning. “We really want to invest in our community and make our vision come to life. Right now, is the best time to sign up for the 2022 GLS Summit. We’ll be holding it again at Kingsway and registering now will give you the best price and an additional February mini-summit they hold virtually,” Cadwell said. “We’re currently looking into holding additional leader connect events and perhaps some mini sessions during the winter.” “We hope to eventually develop an Indy leadership movement. It’s going to involve many more churches, and it’s going to include more than GLS. We’re looking for opportunities to consistently pour into and raise up leaders in our community and asking ourselves, ‘what does that look like’?”
