Artists and Writers Charity Softball Game

Von

Me Out to the Ball Game, Take Me Out with the Crowd’, there’s no better ball game to go out with the crowd than the highly anticipated, fun filled and star-studded Artists and Writers Charity Softball Game played every August (August 19, 2023 @ 2pm) at Herrick Park in East Hampton. Going on its 75th year, this humble game all started in 1948 in the front yard of artist Wilfrid Zogbaum. Back then East Hampton, and especially Springs, offered inexpensive large studios that were brightly lit and very conducive to an artist’s craft. Artists Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning, Philip Pavia, Jackson Pollock and Joan Mitchell were some of the first to play the game. Since then, they’ve been followed by such luminaries as Leif Hope-he loves to slip in a turnip ‘ball’ and pitch it to an unsuspecting batter, Chevy Chase, Alan Alda, Christie Brinkley, Lauren Bacall, Christopher Reeve, Paul Simon, Dr. Ruth, Bianca Jagger, James Lipton, Joan Mitchell, Mr. G., Mike Lupica, Peter Jennings, Chris Wragge, Joe Torre, Lori Singer, Tommy Clohessy, Carl Bernstein, Joseph Palmisanoguest announcer, Joseph Palmisano III-batboy, and President Bill Clinton who throws the first pitch-this will be his thirty fifth appearance. Putting this on year after year is a herculean effort. Many people donate their time to ensure that the event is successful, being that it benefits many east end charities. One of those people

is David Brandman. He’s not only a board member but he and his family record the game for re-broadcast and of course posterity. We caught up with David to see what’s up for this year.

David explains that it’s the 75th Anniversary of the game and it’s one of the biggest and best events that you can attend out east. He and his family have been involved with the game for years and he loves what it does for the many charities that it benefits.

‘Over the years, the game has raised not only money but, it has brought awareness to many of the east end’s charitable organizations,’ says David. David is looking forward to bringing out the crowds and the stars who make this game what

it is. He’s looking forward to continuing this storied tradition for years to come.

What I like About You Music !

‘Talking In Your Sleep’. Having been in the music biz for over 50 years and one of the original members of the HIT rock band The Romantics, Mike talks all things music and his love of the fans, band and biz.

He was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit where the local music influenced his desire to be a musician. Originally liking the drums, he soon drifted over to the guitar and made it his 5th appendage. Still touring today, Mike fondly recalls all that it took to get here. From teaching himself guitar, he didn’t want to lug a drum set around, to having his mom drive one of his band mates to the next city because that bandmate missed the bus, to originally forming the Motor City Rockers, to traveling to NYC’s famed CBGB’s and

The Ramones, Johnny Thunder, NY Dolls and Motown definitely inspired and influenced him and his music making. So much so that he and the band were being noticed by others in the biz and within 6 or 8 months of forming they, on their 3 rd opening gig, got to open for Jay Geils, Steve Miller and Peter Frampton. From there, things got better and better for him and the band. Ultimately, they made it to the pinnacle of clubs, CBGB’s in NYC (July 1977) and beyond. Mike adores his fans and believes that playing before a live audience is not only fun for the audience but fun and inspiring for him and the band. Due to their HIT songs and his writing and performing of new music, he and The Romantics are running

single “67 Riot”-off his album, Skill…Mike Skill. 67 Riot depicts, through music, the unrest that took hold of Detroit in 1967.

Making music is ‘something that I love’, said Mike. He enjoys the process from conception, to production, to ultimately playing sold-out shows across North America. With that I asked him, what advice can you give up and coming musicians? He said, “get yourself your own lawyer and accountant”, “you want someone in your corner protecting your interests.”

Mike Skill and the Romantics continue to play to sold out crowds all across North America.

Long Island Laughs Around Town

Stand-up with Chris Roach

Laugh, laugh, laugh!!!

That’s what Long Island’s own, comic Chris Roach, will have you doing. Chris is a Ronkonkoma native, die-hard New York Rangers fan, accomplished actor and all-around funny guy. He has graced the stages of some of the biggest and most wellknown comedy clubs in the country, from Gotham and Comedy Strip Live in NYC, to the Borgata in Atlantic City, to The Paramount in Huntington and everywhere in-between. Not only can you see him live on stage, at any given time he can be heard as a guest on local radio such as 102.3 WBAB with Roger and JP in the morning, SiriusXM, The Big Fat Joey Show on 95.9 WGBB, along with being on numerous podcasts.

Chris continues to work with his friend and former TV castmate and comedian Kevin James. We all know Kevin from having starred in movies

Joe Piccs Picks

Joe and Cyn, CONGRATULATIONS! on the birth of your brainchild, Hamptons Storyboard magazine. I still remember that moment we met at the Starbucks on Hampton Road, the first week it opened, it was love at first sip! Here’s to many more years of success and epic stories that await to unfold in your glossy pages!!!

If there’s one thing the Hamptons are known for, it’s their beaches. First up, is a rendezvous with the holy trinity of my favorite village beaches - Wyandanch, Little Plains and Coopers Beach. Coopers Beach always ranks high and for 2023 it’s ranked the 3rd best beach in the U.S.A. by Dr. Beach (drbeach.org).

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the new concession owners will have some live music every

such as Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Grown Ups and Sandy Wexler, as well as on TV on The King of Queens and Kevin Can Waitwhere Chris and Kevin met. Kevin still does his comedy tour and Chris opens for him on many occasions.

Chris shared his career trajectory with us, detailing what led him to pursue comedy/acting. Just like the majority of us, Chris, in his early 20’s, was still trying to find himself. He worked as a bouncer, had delivery jobs and worked in an office. That was until one day when he realized that he needed to make a change. That change would be to follow in his father’s, and many other family members, footsteps and become a New York City police officer. Chris joined the ranks of NYC’s Finest, he loved the job and the community he served but, after a few years he decided that law enforcement was not for him. So, back to the business world he went. While doing

the corporate thing, Chris’s company sent his division to a Dale Carnegie seminar on public speaking, where he rocked it by incorporating jokes into his presentations. He did this to overcome his uneasiness when speaking publicly. At the end of the seminar a fellow participant asked him if he did stand-up, he said no, they said and he quotes them, ‘you’d be doing yourself an injustice if you didn’t try stand-up.’

With that, Chris embarked on

Now if you’re looking to kick back and have some fun, the back bar at Southampton Publick House is my version of a fun school reunion-but with better food and drinks. It’s the best spot to rekindle old friendships and raise a glass to those returning for the season.

becoming a comedian. He went to McGuire’s comedy club, here on Long Island, where they were hosting a Stand-Up University. Chris took this course 4 or 5 times in a row and fell in love with not only the comedic side of the business, he fell in love with the people, places and comradery of it.

Since then, he’s been on TV, most notably as Mott, the giant, long suffering father of seven opposite his TV wife Cindy, played by Jackie Sandler, on Kevin Can Wait. Chris fondly recalls how down to earth and nice both Jackie and her husband Adam (Sandler) were to him. He loved every minute of being on the show and is proud of the work he did there and is super excited about continuing to perform as a comic. As a side note, as if the world isn’t small enough, my friend and contributor Vince Edgehill worked on the show with Chris as a pizza maker at Enzo’s, the pizza shop they all hung out at.

IG @Roachcomic Chrisroachcomedy.com

Last, but definitely not least, the sunsets. As they say in real estate; location, location, location, and my favorite locations for the east end’s most stunning sunsets are: Towd Point, Beacon in Sag Harbor, The Montauket, and Inlet Seafood.

Sunday. Nothing like jamming to the music with the sweat kiss of ocean air wafting over you.

Speaking of music, I’m buzzing with anticipation to see the local bands play. My favorites, without a doubt, are the Roses Grove Band and Rum Punch Mafia. I’m looking forward to seeing them create magic at the Steven Talkhouse. They’re always so much fun to see. I’d brace yourselves folks, if their previous performances are any indication, our eardrums are in for a treat.

Then there’s the grand reopening of Shippy’s. A hiatus of one year has left our taste buds yearning for some SIZZLING steaks, sauerbraten, schnitzel and those delicious baked clams-did someone mention a Biergarten?

Sundays are synonymous with Montauk and it’s an absolute must to be out and about there. I like to start out at the Shagwong and wrap it up at the Montauket to take in a breathtaking sunset. It’s a tradition etched in my summer itinerary. The LIRR is my chariot of choice for these Sunday excursions, 2pm out and 11pm back (if we make it-LOL).

In between all this, you’ll find me darting around properties, negotiating deals and attempting to strike that elusive work-life balance.

So, here’s to a Summer that promises to be as shimmering as this new venture. To laughter, friendships, and moments that will make splendid stories for Hamptons Storyboard’s future editions. Cheers!!!

Lights, Camera, Action!

Icaught up with longtime friend and actor Vince Edgehill. Vince and I met on Wall Street while working as investment bankers. Vince is a quintessential New Yorker who got involved in acting when his ‘ah-ha’ moment hit him in college. That’s when his instructor asked him how long he’s been acting. Including that scene, Vince was acting for a total of 10 minutes.

More Than One Voice

“It’s finger lickin’ good!,” we’ve all heard that famous line and no one does it better than our friend Jim Meskimen. Jim’s been the voice of KFC’s Colonel Sanders for over 7 years and loves every minute of it. He sat with us to talk all things Jim Meskimen and what it’s like being the son of Marion Ross, aka Mrs. C-Mrs. Cunningham from the TV show Happy Days.

I had the honor of speaking with your mom, how’s she doing? “Mom is doing well and is relaxing, taking in all that life has to offer.” “She’s as sharp as a tack and enjoys speaking and meeting up with the remaining cast members of Happy Days.”

Jim has been acting for over 35 years and his mom played a huge role in him wanting to become an actor. She encouraged and guided him as he tried to find his niche. He wanted to be a political cartoonist but realized he had no interest in politics. He literally drew upon his drawing skills, to become a cartoonist, and went on to draw some of TV’s more memorable characters such as the Thundercats.

Jim has done V/O work (voice over) on commercials, movies, and TV along with starring in numerous movies and TV shows such as The Grinch, Apollo 13, Gaslit, The Big Door Prize, and Chicago Fire.

Jim has worked with Ron Howard, aka Richie Cunningham from Happy Days,

numerous times and has learned quite a bit from him with regards to directing, which Jim wants to pursue. Jim has directed numerous large scale audio productions but feels he would benefit from some more experience on the directorial side of visual productions.

He stays busy with his impressions, so much so that he’s currently touring doing his Jimpression show live on stage. Between shows he works at honing his craft at his wife’s (Tamra) studio, The Acting Center in LA. www.Theactingcenterla.com with their daughter Taylor who is also an actress and V/O artist. Also, he just recently went LIVE with his online course on becoming a working actor. Check out his course at www.jimworkingactor.com

IG: Jimpressions

www.jimmeskimen.com

Now, having acted for over 20 years, Vince has admired some of TV and cinemas most notable thespians such as longtime friend Chad Coleman, but he’d love to work with his childhood friend and multi-Emmy award winner, Keith David. A while back he was cast in a supporting role in the CBS hit series Kevin Can Wait, starring Kevin James and our friend, comic Chris Roach. Vince describes the experience as ‘wonderful!’ ‘I learned all that there is that goes on behind the scenes to produce a weekly tv series.’

Recently he worked with Justin Theroux in spoofing The Hollywood Reporter’s Roundtable segment (THR). How did this come to be? Well Joe, ‘The comedy team of Rajat Suresh and Jeremy Levick, who worked on Stephen Colbert’s Turning Out The News, reached out to me and Justinindividually. I jumped onboard, and so did Justin and everyone else. ‘I’m glad I got to do this because opportunities to collaborate with such creative people help to fuel the fire in me.

You took time off from acting, why?

‘The opportunities back then were not as numerous as they are now, so I ventured off to work where the money is-Wall Street. It was a great ride.’ ‘I met a lot of great people (Joe) as well as I learned more about finance than any college could have taught me.’

Currently, Vince has a supporting role in the movie “A Paracosm,” opposite Will Hochman from Blue Bloods.

Go to YouTube under REC The Hollywood Recorder. Yes, Recorder, to see his spoof.

Did Someone Say Brunch?

Founder of the Hamptons Interactive Brunch, Vanessa Gordon, gives us a Sneak Peek of the Highly Anticipated Fourth Annual Event.

After celebrating last August after a two-year hiatus, the Hamptons Interactive Brunch is once again returning to the Hamptons summer event scene on Saturday, August 5th, in Sag Harbor at the luxury hotel property, Baron’s Cove. Last year, guests were surprised with a sit-down brunch experience featuring the hotel restaurant’s signature dishes like Eggs Benedict and Lobster Roll paired with signature cocktails crafted with the presenting sponsor’s, Origen Holistic Spirit’s, sustainable and plant-based vodka.

In addition, guests left with loaded gift bags, worth thousands, featuring fullsize products that included Hamptons based brands like Dylan’s Candy Bar and Moon Breeze Mercantile, among many others. Even almost a year later, guests at last year’s brunch continue to rave about their gift bags, presented to them in logo embroidered drawstring satchels.

So, what’s planned for this year? If you loved last year’s event, get ready for even more surprises for the upcoming fourth annual event! Together with Baron’s Cove and Ticket2Events, the production team behind the Hamptons Interactive Brunch event series, we are creating a completely different brunch menu and experience with a taste of the season while honoring and supporting local purveyors.

In addition, we are excited to be catching up with past guests like LeeAnne Locken and Kara Alloway. Kara Alloway will be featuring her debut novel at the brunch titled, Most Hated, that is already gaining much buzz amongst the Bravo TV scene and beyond. We will also be welcoming new special guests

and cannot wait to reveal who those names are-but we must keep that a surprise for now!

Lastly, we are looking forward to new pop-up shopping experiences planned

for the day, curated by Royce and Rocket luggage, and experiencing newly designed products from wellness brand, Advocare.

know how to Party! Whether they’re designing weddings in Palm Beach, the Hamptons, or helping to raise funds for places like the Southampton Arts Center or providing access to performers like Kelis, these two know how to create a good time. They are the co-creators of the annual events that we love to attend every Summer such as Jill Zarin’s Luxury Luncheon and The Hamptons Interactive Brunch. You can see them around town with their friends and clients such as Jill Zarin, LeeAnne Locken, Kristen Taekman and Vicki Gunvalson, to name a few. The two of them have a unique and redefined style when it comes to planning for those used to a life of luxury, partly because they live it all year long. From one beach town to another, they spend their time between Montauk, NY and Palm Beach, FL, a place where they most recently tied the knot! The newlyweds, Mr. and Mr. Kelly, say they look forward to the future as they plan for Summer 2023 and beyond!

We love Jill and her Luxury Luncheon in memory of Bobby Zarin. How did this all come to be? ‘We were introduced to Jill through a mutual friend who knew that Brian had spent his life growing up in New York, he summered in Montauk, and could handle the job with the help of Sean by his side.’ ‘That mutual friend also knew we could do a great job at making Jill’s event a success without breaking the bank.’ They drove vendor prices down, reverse engineered Jill’s overall event idea and ultimately won the bid with blessings from Bobby. From that moment on, they

got to work with Jill and plan the ladies’ luncheon, or what you now know of today as, Jill Zarin’s Luxury Luncheon. How long does it take to plan Jill’s event? ‘We spend a minimum of 7 months planning our event as event producers and planners.’ ‘This job is not for the faint of heart’. They eat, breathe and sleep all things ‘event’ related to ensure that it’s bigger and better than any of the other previous year’s events. They explained that they like to highlight one or two areas of the total party experience to make it stand out. This year they’re going all out in the food and beauty category. With the food, they’re doing a mini taste of the Hamptons and for beauty, they’re introducing the beauty brands everyone loves while also showcasing new and fun brands. They manage all aspects of the event from attendee invites to brands, to on-site experiences, they leave nothing untouched by their talent. They’re no stranger to partying in the Hamptons and for them it’s the ultimate party locale. The Hamptons are a no-brainer when it comes to hosting a party. As event planners to the stars, they know what it takes to pull off a fantastic event. If you want to enjoy your event, there is no better way to do that than to hire event planners. All you need to do is show-up and PARTY! Brian and Sean use the happy guest metric. If the guests are happy, then they and the host are happy and that’s what is all about!

As their company has grown, so has their relationship. They recently got married at The Hilton West Palm Beach which allowed them to collaborate with partners who supported them in every aspect of their life. They are super excited to be doing what they love with the person they love-each other. Now, most couples don’t work with each other, how do you separate your personal and business lives? ‘It can be separate? LOL!’ ‘We’ll let you know once we figure that out!’ ‘Seriously though, being able to have a confidante and co-worker is much more helpful than you’d imagine.’ ‘We love it and wouldn’t have it any other way.’

Brian and Sean are also the co-founders and producers, along with Vanessa Gordon, of The Hamptons Interactive Brunch, taking place on August 5, 2023, at Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor. Along with the event planning they do here, in LA and Palm Beach, they also publish their own digital magazine, Eternal Traveler magazine, which they created during the pandemic. Their online magazine is dedicated to showcasing global travel and the many unique facets told through the eyes of the story tellers you see on social media! The contributions are of those who travel and who want to contribute to an overall idea of having a community of ‘fun seekers.’ These ideas are driven by travelers who can’t wait to share their journeys. This all came to be because after many trips of ‘fun in the sun’, they wanted to share where they and their friends LeeAnne Locken and Kristen Teakman, of Bravo TV Housewives fame, traveled to. Their mission is to highlight hotels and destinations where ‘fun in the sun’ is unmistakable.

Brian and Sean are the ones who can take your event from fun to FUN and FABULOUS!

Exclusive
Hamptons

Hamptons

No one represents New York and Florida better than Jill Zarin, entrepreneur, philanthropist and animal lover. We sat down with Jill and learned all that she’s up to, including an exclusive look into her Jill Zarin’s Luxury Luncheon.

Q: Jill Zarin in 3 words?

A: Connector, Funny, Generous.

Q: What makes the Hamptons special to you?

A: I’ve had a home in The Hamptons for over 20 years. The memories and friendships I’ve made are why I keep coming back.

Q: Tell us about Bobby and how your annual event, in honor of him, came to be?

A: When Bobby was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in 2008, our lives changed forever. We knew we would be on borrowed time and wanted to live life together to the fullest. Bobby and I loved to entertain, and we had the perfect home on the water to do so. After Bobby passed, I decided to downsize into something more manageable since I am only there 2 months a year. Our biggest challenge now is finding an amazing location every year for the luxury luncheon.

Q: What’s it like working with Brian & Sean from Ticket2events? How are they as event planners/ partners to your event?

A: One thing is certain, I could not and would not do this event without Brian and Sean. They do all the heavy lifting and more. They create the atmosphere by finding the most amazing brands where they help create their own vignettes to promote the brands. Many of the companies bring hundreds of full-size products to give to the guests. Last year we gave over $100,000 worth of products to invited guests and this year we’ll do it even better! Health care brands like AdvoCare, and private jet charter services Fly Business have me excited as well as the other brands like Royce & Rocket, Floafers, Banila Cosmetics, Dolce Aesthetics NY, Kaleiya, Odyssey Elixir and many more! The boys are always great at procuring new products that want to showcase at the event. Aside from the hundreds of guests who have attended each year, we have expansive media coverage too - from WSJ to Forbes to OK! magazine, The Big Fat Joey Show, Hamptons Storyboard magazine and the many others who plan to cover the event. This year we have over 20 celebrities confirmed and that helps bring the media, and the media helps promote the charity event and the brands.

Q: What excites you about this year’s event?

A: I am always excited to see what new brands Sean and Brian have discovered. Since we have been doing this for so long, many brands actually DM me and I tell them to reach out to the boys!! July 29, 2023 is the big day, so for anyone reading this that wants to do a showcase, DM them ASAP @Ticket2events.

Q: Why is philanthropy so important to you?

A: “To those much is given, much is expected” …Gloria Kamen. My mother always told me this. I have been involved in raising money for charities since I was in

college. It makes me feel so good to be able to help other people.

Q: What are you working on now besides your annual event?

A: My daughter, Ally Shapiro, and I founded Jill & Ally 3 years ago and it has been a non-stop roller coaster ever since. I’m also still building Jill Zarin Home, so between the two, I’m always on the move. In addition to all of this, we just launched my new skin care line, Jill Zarin Beauty (jillzarinbeauty.com) , our new Pickleball Racquets in the coolest patterns (jillandally.com) and at Macy’s, our new washable outdoor rugs ( jillandally.com) , and our Crystal Manifestation candles continue to grow. We’re currently in over 3000 stores and still going strong.

Q: What advice would you give aspiring entrepreneurs?

A: I have so many things I would tell Jill at 21...but I can’t do the shoulda, woulda, coulda. I started a mentorship program where I dedicate time to entrepreneurs for them to ask me anything. I do this to help them build their business. My number one piece of advice is to “Say YES to everything.” It’s ok to try and fail rather than not try at all.

Q: What was the experience like being on RHONY?

A: I definitely had some bad days but, overall, I would definitely do it all over again. I had so many experiences, but the worst memory. You would probably know that answer better than I would. I would say any scene with my family because I will be able to relive it forever.

Rocky Mountains Castle In The Sky

There’s more than snow to be found in the Rockies. Luxury knows no boundaries and Liz Leeds of Slifer, Smith & Frampton Real Estate knows where the luxury is. Liz is a former international flight attendant who’s traveled the world and experienced the best of the best. With all her jet-setting and traveling from one exotic locale to another, Liz decided to plant her feet in the West in the Rockies. Liz has over 20 years of experience working in Colorado’s luxury housing market, specifically Vail and Aspen. We sat down with her to get her take on why buying in Colorado should be on your short list.

Q: Why Colorado?

A: It’s BEAUTIFUL! We offer so much more than just fun winter activities. We have four seasons and each one is spectacular. Colorado is best known for the Rocky Mountains, and the natural scenery that’s found in them.

Q: What’s your real estate specialty?

A: I specialize in selling highend luxury real estate in Vail and Aspen.

Q: What draws your clients to Vail and Aspen?

A: Many of my clients come for the winters (they’re not harsh) to ski, snowboard and enjoy the magic that that season has to offer but, many stay for the summers to golf, bike, hike, raft and enjoy the calmness of the mountains.

Q: How is it to live in Vail and Aspen?

A: There is nothing that compares to it. Our weather is idyllic. We don’t have humidity and bugs are virtually nonexistent. We have an extensive cultural scene with ballet, plays, world-class cuisine and of course the best skiing in the world.

Q: What is the market like in

Vail and Aspen right now?

A: Inventory is low, and the current market reminds me of the 1999/2000 market where what’s happening in the stock and bond markets are very disconnected from the real economy.

Q: Since the Federal Reserve has been raising interest rates, how has that affected the way your clients make a purchase?

A: When working with highnet-worth individuals their access to cash and loans is somewhat different than the average consumer. Many of my clients pay cash while others utilize their financial holdings to make a purchase.

Q: How have home prices fared?

A: In Eagle County, where Vail is located, the market has experienced an 18% surge in average sales prices compared to the previous year. Our limited supply and strong demand for housing should keep prices robust.

Q: How should buyers prepare when looking at homes in Vail or Aspen?

A: First they need to contact me. They need a real estate agent who knows the ins and outs of not only the areas they’re looking in but also the market itself. Working with the right agent is key. Next, as with any market, buyers should have a budget, know what they are looking for in a home as well as what are their non-negotiables. They also need to be prepared to make an offer on whatever property they find because it may be futile for them to wait for prices to decline.

Q: Why should people contact Liz Leeds?

A: I’ve been selling real estate in Vail and Aspen for close to 20 years. I specialize in the high-end, luxury real estate market working in a confidential and discreet

manner. Building trust with my clients is my number one goal and keeping their lives and transactions private is of the utmost importance. I love to teach my clients how to live their best lives by creating family memories and enjoying a lifestyle outside of their hectic lives. It is easy. I live it and I teach it!

A: You can call me at: 970.331.1806.

PJs get dressed up to go out

The concept of PLUME is very special to Anca. In 2016 she was diagnosed with advanced stage breast cancer. This turned her and her family’s world upside down. Being a girlie girl and liking to play dress up with her three young daughters, Anca knew she had to do something to help herself get out of her funk. She just wasn’t ‘feeling it’ with the pajamas she was wearing. Having worked in the fashion industry for over 20 years, she knew if she felt this way, others must feel this way too! She wanted to change the way those recovering from cancer and other illnesses looked so, through her recovery, she came up with what we now know as PLUME.

As she recovered, she realized that this IS her ‘mission.’ Her mission to help other fellow warriors make this journey a little more tolerable. ‘With this I want every soul to Feel and Look Fabulous!,’ says Anca. She produced a product line that is super cute and makes you feel instantly glamorous. They’re practical, the cuffs on the tops and bottoms detach for easy cleaning so all you need to do is throw your PJs in the washer and dryer then, poofsnap back on the cuffs and continue to feel Fab!!!

Of course, there’s always some skepticism when any new product launches but those that try them on easily become devotees of their new sleep attire. This is what ‘I dreamt of,’ says Anca. ‘For me to hear and see people loving my creation, that’s so surreal to me.’ ‘I’m glad I’m able to positively impact people’s lives and

feelings with my creation.’ People are not only wearing her PJs at home, brides, along with their bridesmaids, are wearing them on their special day. They’re so on trend that women are wearing them to the stores and restaurants-pairing the top with jeans or leather pants. The versatility and combinations are virtually unlimited.

‘We’ve been fortunate to get some great publicity from celebrities who’ve worn our pajamas on tv,’ says Anca. Recently, Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member, Jennifer Aydin wore Anca’s celadon green color pajama set on her trip to Ireland, where the cast filmed this past season. Dolores Catana, also from the show, has posted her pajamas as well. This past Mother’s Day, Anca’s line was featured on Fox 5’s Good Day New York with Rosanna Scotto by Elisa DiStefano, Newsday’s senior lifestyle host.

‘Our goal is to expand our brand and reach as many fabulous souls as possible to remind them of what fabulous beings we all are,’ says Anca. ‘The more we lift each other up today the better our tomorrow will be,’ she says. That’s why she donates a portion of every sale to different local breast cancer coalitions or foundations in New York. So, let’s have some fun with our nighttime apparel and let us ALL Feel and Look Fabulous throughout the night! Her pajamas can be found online at Shopplume-afdesign.com friend of Hamptons Storyboard, Kelly Kirkpatrick’s Therapy Life & Style boutique in Southampton.

Building Better Mental Health Dive Into Yoga!

Your mental health is key to a joyful and fulfilling life. It encompasses your emotions, thoughts and actions, shaping how you manage stress, connect with others and make decisions. It’s about maintaining positivity, facing challenges, cultivating healthy relationships, and finding meaning in life.

Christine Martitz’s yoga practice philosophy and ability are

“just about as good as it gets,” according to the late former EditorIn-Chief of Cosmopolitan Magazine, Helen Gurley Brown, who was also a great admirer of Martitz. Martitz is a world renowned Hatha yoga instructor and creator of Dive Into Yoga with decades of experience teaching in New York City, the Hamptons and internationally. Step onto the mat as she takes us through her journey of becoming a yoga instructor, along with her sharing some simple wellness practices and her favorite spots to OM across the Hamptons.

Tell us a little about how you became a Hatha Yoga Instructor.

I’ve been practicing yoga since I was a child. My first yoga instructor was inspiring. She told us, while doing a headstand, about her latest travels to Tenerife, Canary Islands. As a kid, hearing stories like that is fascinating. To become a wellrounded teacher, I did my Yoga Teacher’s Training in a one month intensive at a Zen Monastery in Blois, in the Loire Valley in France. The days were long but worth it, awake at 5:30 a.m. and in bed at 11 p.m. I have also taken part in dozens of workshops, courses and seminars on all aspects of yoga.

Where are some of your favorite places to teach and why? Where else, specifically, do you like to teach?

I love teaching everywhere: Indonesia, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, NYC, the Hamptons - it is so rewarding teaching different people from all walks of life. I get so much out of it. I love to see how much people, who take my classes, improve when they practice regularly.

What are some simple Hatha Yoga

poses that can be done at home for stress relief?

Hatha Yoga poses that can help relieve stress include Child’s Pose (Balasana), Cat-Cow Pose (Marjaryasana/Bitilasana), Standing Forward Bend (Uttanasana) and Legs-up-the-Wall Pose (Viparita Karani).

What are and how important is proper breathing in Hatha Yoga? Proper breathing is an essential aspect of Hatha Yoga and can help calm the mind, reduce stress and improve overall health. One effective breathing technique is Anuloma Viloma, which involves inhaling for 4 counts, holding for 12 counts and exhaling for 8 counts.

What are some of your favorite spots and things to do while summering out east?

I love the beaches, especially in Southampton. Little Plains is one of my favorite beaches and I enjoy doing yoga, running on the beach and swimming in the ocean. I also love biking and I sometimes bike all the way to Montauk from East Hampton. There are numerous events to attend such as: the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival along with Summer Concerts and the Farmer’s Market both at Agawam Park, in Southampton.

Bio: Christine Martitz is a certified yoga instructor for over 30 years. She practices and teaches yoga throughout Europe, Asia, South and North America as well as in the Hamptons during the summer. Living in NYC, she founded Dive Into Yoga, Inc. and created her own motivational yoga DVD, Dive Into Yoga, that was filmed by a 3x Emmy Award Winner. Martitz has also run three NYC Marathons and numerous half marathons as well as she’s also a certified scuba diver.

On the other hand, mental illness refers to diagnosable medical conditions that affect your thoughts, emotions, behavior and overall functioning. It encompasses a wide range of conditions from depression and anxiety to bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. These conditions can be distressing and impact your daily activities, work, relationships and self-care.

While mental health and mental illness are distinct, they are interconnected. Mental health exists on a spectrum, from optimal well-being to varying levels of distress and impairment. Mental illnesses can challenge our mental health, bringing changes in mood, behavior and functioning. Having a mental illness doesn’t mean you can’t have good mental health. Recovery and management are possible through appropriate treatment and support. Recognizing the difference between the two is crucial. Knowing the signs and symptoms of mental illness helps identify when professional help is needed. Prioritizing mental health involves practicing self-care, seeking support from loved ones and engaging in activities that nurture well-being. We must reduce the stigma and encourage open conversations while creating a supportive environment for those who may be struggling.

By understanding this distinction, we can cultivate self-awareness, support those in need and strive for a positive and balanced mental state. Promoting mental health and addressing mental illness are vital steps towards society valuing the well-being of all its members. Let’s embrace, uplift and build a brighter future together.

With this understanding, we become architects of self-awareness, and guardians of a positive, harmonious mental state. Let’s unite in this journey and paint a future full of brightness and hope.

Dr. Jeanty is a public and mental health consultant with more than 10 years’ experience in healthcare. She earned her medical degree from Spartan Health Sciences University in St. Lucia and holds a Master of Science in International Health from New York Medical College.

Relationships

Love at First Swipe!

Online dating is definitely the most convenient way to meet a potential partner. But with millions of people using dating apps and websites, it’s important to approach online dating with the right mindset and the best strategies to increase your chances of finding a meaningful connection with the right person. Whether you’re a newcomer or have been swiping for some time, here are my essential tips to make your online dating game total fire! Choose the Right Platform: Research and choose a platform that aligns with your dating goals and preferences. Different platforms cater to different demographics and relationships, so find one that suits your needs and that will connect you with people of similar interests. Are you a single parent? Then check out STIR. Pet lover? Try Date My Pet or if you’re into ethical nonmonogamy, try FEELD. There’s something for everyone.

Create a Unique Profile: Your profile is your first impression for potential matches, so make it stand out. Be honest and authentic when describing yourself but, make

it interesting. Anyone could say they like coffee and the beach, but what makes you different? What makes you stand out? Ditch the normal responses and avoid being negative. Then post a mix of photos that showcase your personality and provide a clear image of who you are. I know a guy who posts terrible photos of himself so when he shows up for a date, he’s much more handsome in person and it’s an immediate upgrade.

Be Clear About Your Intentions: Whether you’re seeking a long-term relationship or casual dating, be transparent about your intentions in your profile and early conversations. You need to be on the same page with potential matches. This helps avoid awkward ghosting down the line.

Stay Safe: Online safety is paramount. Avoid sharing personal information, such as your home address or phone number, until you’ve developed trust with the other person. Take advantage of in-app messaging or email systems to communicate until you’re comfortable taking the conversation to other platforms. Also, when you meet for the first time, do that in a crowded, popular place.

priority. This is the only time ghosting is a go. You don’t owe anyone an explanation as to why you’re feeling the ick. Just move on.

Manage Expectations: Keep in mind that not every connection will lead to a long-term relationship. Understand that rejection is a part of the process, don’t take it personally. Keep an open mind, enjoy the experience, and view each interaction as an opportunity to learn and grow. My grandfather used to say, “If a guy isn’t into you there’s obviously something wrong with him.”

Engage in Meaningful Conversations: When initiating conversations, show you’re paying attention by referencing details from the other person’s profile. Show genuine interest in getting to know them and ask openended questions that encourage thoughtful responses. This helps foster a deeper connection and shows that you’re invested in the conversation, unless you’re just looking for sex and if you are, say that upfront.

Get Off The App and Meet: While it’s exciting to find a potential match, don’t stay on the in-app messaging too long. Studies show that the longer you text and message the less likely you’ll have a real connection in person. That’s because you build up an idea of what the person will be like, and then you are more likely to be disappointed. Nobody can live up to an imagined idea. So, see who they are as soon as you feel comfortable. Get their vibe in person.

Trust Your Instincts: Listen to your gut feeling when interacting with others online. If something feels off or makes you uncomfortable, trust your instincts and take a step back. Your safety and well-being is

Be Patient and Persistent: Finding the right match takes time, be patient. It’s common to face setbacks and experience disappointing interactionshappens to everyone. Stay positive and remember that perseverance is key. Don’t get discouraged, continue to put yourself out there. A recent study found that 67% of Americans met their partner through a dating app, so...they are out there!

Take Breaks When Needed: Online dating can be overwhelming at times. If you feel burnt out or overwhelmed, it’s okay to take breaks. Give yourself time to recharge and refocus on other aspects of your life. This will help you approach online dating with a fresh perspective when you’re ready to return and maybe even give you more to talk about.

Online dating can be a rewarding experience if approached with the right mindset and strategies. Try these tips and I’m sure you’ll enhance your chances of finding meaningful connections with the right people. Remember to be authentic, stay safe, engage in meaningful conversations, and manage your expectations. Most importantly, enjoy the process and remain optimistic. There are 441 million active users on dating apps. One of them is your perfect match!

Relationships, Retail & Rides

The G -Spot

Older, Wiser, Sexier? When it comes to love, there are so many reasons why we chose our partners. Most will talk about the initial physical attraction or how something about the twinkle in their eye or the fullness of their lips drew them in but, … what about everything else? Does it matter that they have fit arms and go to the gym every day? Or are you looking for the one that is wearing the most recent fashion trends? NO! I’m all about the seasoned man. The one who may or may not have been around the block (being around the block may come with some baggage-HAHA) but they know how to treat a lady with some understanding and are far less selfish than your average Gen

Z. I’ll take a freestyle loving, jean wearing, independent, self-assured baby boomer, with all the salt and pepper hair that I can get!!! There is something so attractive

about the man who doesn’t need to Google directions, who is willing to get dirty, work hard and above all, truly sees you and the family as their number one. I can only attest to my own experiences and say that older is better!!! I had someone ask me, well isn’t he tired all the time, doesn’t he just want to “go to bed early?” Sure, he is tired and doesn’t move as fast, but boy oh boy his energy doesn’t lack when and where it counts! There is something about “keeping yourself young” that the older man takes very seriously…almost a daily challenge, and I’m here for it. His attention to detail needed to make you happy is immeasurable and so delicious. The desire to satisfy your partner and the gratitude for being with your younger self, is just… well… sexy! Older is wiser and the older man doesn’t have his ego in bed with you, he just has his hands!!!

Do You Know How To Handle The Hamptons?

The season of Summer, is what we all wait for.

Come with big sunnies because there’s more.

Ready to see old friends and make new ones.

Because parties and BBQ’S are for everyone.

Phone charged for cute selfies and the like. Because you might even take a bike.

The walk on Main is the place to be seen but you need to be

very keen.

From flip-flops to sandals to wedges and more.

A table for two, three or four, at 75 Main, is not a bore.

Yummy food and gossip is all you need to keep on the run. But a stroll to Sant Ambroeus still provides some fun.

Thank the barista Luis with a smile.

He’ll have your coffee in hand, but it won’t take a while.

Jobs Lane, here we are for that

shopping and Zoltar, with a quick stop at the bar. The future radiates warm dreamy vibes, which I know I will subscribe.

Then off we go for a night on the town, where we scream like no one’s around.

From Southampton Social to Topping Rose House we are abound.

Always on trend with my buddies and friends. Breakfast in bed is never the end.

Because in the Hamps we always want more!!!

The Final Word

Summer House’s Original Loverboy, Kyle Cooke

flow and show!!!

You may know one, you may have even drunk one but, both the beverage and the man are back for a BIGGER and BETTER Summer 2023 than ever before! We got to speak with the founder of Loverboy and star of the HIT Bravo TV series, Summer House, Kyle Cooke.

Q: How has being on Summer House affected your life?

A: Being on people’s tv’s week in and week out has definitely been fun and different. It propelled the brand recognition of Loverboy and it’s made partying in the Hamptons all that much more fun.

Q: What makes for a fun Hamptons Summer?

A: The people you hang with. The Summer House crew puts together an amazing group of people in the house every summer. We all work hard during the week and party even harder on the weekend.

Q: Speaking of people, who would you like to have at the Summer House?

A: James Kennedy along with Sheana and Brock.

Q: You’ve been on since the beginning, what is your favorite episode?

A: Believe it or not, I don’t re-watch the episodes. I watch them as they are on TV when they originally air. As for a favorite episode I love the episodes where we throw a party. Seasons 4 and 6 stand out for me. The bigger the party, think toga or rave, the better I like it.

Q: Speaking of parties, you have your birthday party every year on the show. Which one(s) are most memorable for you?

A: I loved the Cowboy birthday party we had last year but, the one that really stands out is the tea party we had. It was a protest to growing up and it showed how much we

love to party. Unfortunately, we reenacted the famous historical Boston Tea Party a little to well. We poured actual tea into the pool which resulted in a whole lot of damage to the pool and its pump system. Lesson learned. Don’t pour tea into your pool.

Q: Speaking of pools, how did jumping in, sans clothes, come to be?

A: Hailing from New England, where the spirits run free, I was used to seeing people doing their thing in the buff.

Q: When not in the pool and you need to wear clothes, what’s your go-to style?

A: I love floral clothes designs, especially clothes by Kenny Flowers, Mavrans clothes and Grand Frank out of Sweden. I like to wear what fits my personality.

Q: Now that you’re all dressed up and ready to hit the town, where do you like to go to eat when in the Hamptons?

A: First, I love just about

anything. Be it steak, sushi, seafood, burgers, I’m pretty easy to please. As for where I like to go when I am in the Hamptons, I like the Capri Hotel restaurant along with the Crow’s Nest and Surf Lodge in Montauk. These are just a few. There are so many more places that I like to go to.

Q: What music makes this Loverboy ‘bust a move?’

A: Like food, I like a whole lotta music. From Remix to House to EDM, Rap and Country. I like to introduce people to new music.

Q: As the seasons have gone on, how have you changed?

A: I’m humbled by the experience and life learning lessons. Watching yourself can sometimes be difficult but I’ve become more aware, and I try to learn from my experiences.

Q: How did Loverboy the product, and name, come to be?

A: I’m into health and fitness and I saw people drinking all these other beverages so

having that entrepreneurial spirit I figured that I could bring a better and healthier product to the market. As for the name, someone mentioned it in jest, I thought it was funny and here we are.

Q: How is it working with your spouse Amanda?

A: Like anything else, it has its ups and downs. She’s a hard worker who burns the candle at both ends. During seasons 1-4, she worked a full-time corporate job, worked on Loverboy and filmed Summer House. I would not want to work with anyone else.

Q: What’s yours and Amanda’s favorite Loverboy flavors?

A: Amanda likes the Cosmo flavor. As for me, if I’m looking to keep it low key I’ll have a tea, if I’m looking for fun I’ll have a spritz and if I want to turn it up I’ll have a cocktail.

Q: What new Loverboy flavors can we look forward to?

A: Be on the lookout for our pear-kiwi spritz with 6% alcohol and our Limoncello flavor that will be direct to consumer only.

Up next is a little game we call, ‘This or That’, are you ready Kyle? You betcha!

Q: Sandals or Slides?

A: Sandals

Q: BBQ or Restaurant?

A: BBQ

Q: Beach or Pool?

A: Pool

Q: Summer House or Winter House?

A: Both!

Q: Keep or cut the mullet?

A: Keep!

Q: How can my readers find, follow, keep up with you and get their hands on some Loverboy?

A: IG @Imkylecooke @Drinkloverboy and Drinkloverboy.com

Also, be sure to ask your local retailer to carry it if they don’t already. Otherwise, ask them to contact our distributor, Manhattan Beer Distributors, who will be more than happy to provide them with it.
