Spillin’ Val Greenberg with

As someone who prides themselves on relationship building and establishing and nurturing friendships, what I love most about The Hamptons is that it is truly an oasis that offers endless experiences and opportunities to do so.

This summer has been filled with a handful of social gatherings, all of which warm my heart. From catching up with my friends who are hosting beautifully curated dinners to taking part in kick butt workouts at The Hub in Bridgehampton, there is no shortage of variety and fun. TORCH’D led by Celebrity Fitness Personality Isaac Boots, who is a dear friend and contributor in my upcoming book, has a signature class that is great for my body and spirit and serves as a forum that provides me with the chance to meet other like-minded individuals who I have complete admiration for in the television, entrepreneurial and beauty spaces. Boots’ workout residency fosters an environment for people who enjoy a physical and mental challenge as well as love being entertained along the way by Isaac’s wit, charm and humor. The who’s who of the Hamptons are staples in his fitness community. Famous faces like Jones Road Founder Bobbi Brown and TV Veteran Louis Aguirre also participate.

The July 4th parade in Southampton was a magical moment for me seeing my book cover and accomplishment in motion and something I happily celebrated at 75 Main with my Hamptons Storyboard Family. Since we last spoke, I secured a deal to record the audio version of my book, You’ve Been VALidated: A Playbook For Confidence And Connection. I can’t believe the release date is just about a month away. Be sure to pre-order now on Amazon or BarnesandNoble.com if you haven’t had the chance to do so.

Although it’s impossible to be everywhere I am so proud of my friends from Monte’s, (yes the creators of the worldfamous tomato sauce.) They hosted an epic event that was the perfect nod to Monte’s Southern Italian Roots, Summer’s Amalfi Coast and the fare from the surrounding sea. This all went down in the garden of the Historical Montauk Manor. The beach was buzzing about their first Spritz Session collaboration, so of course I have to Spill everything that went down. They partnered with Amaro Montenegro, Jaja Tequila and Select Apertivo. The menu included light bites and signature dishes that included their mouthwatering tomato sauce, spaghetti and a fine selection of local seafood dishes, alongside specialty cocktails. Notable attendees included: PJ Monte, Propriertor of Monte’s Manor as well as Founder and CEO of Monte’s Sauce and newly engaged power couple Josh Newberg, Monte’s Fine Foods Partner and PR Maven Jacqueline Giaccio.

At Dan’s Red White and Brews there was no shortage of entertainment. I used all my might and strength to hit the high striker, followed by tasting the most refreshing cocktails featuring Dobel’s delicious tequila. All of the chefs on site featured exceptional cuisines, however my friend tastemaker Jill Selter and I celebrated DJ Chef who won the competition with the most popular dish-Hampton Water Rosé Spiked Shrimp.

Some other mouthwatering fabulous food I’ve been enjoying out east was barbecue served at my friends’ private estate, Philanthropists Kenneth and Maria Fishel. I also dined at Pop-Up by Rocco tasting Celebrity Chef Rocco DiSpirito’s delicious menu at his collaborative establishment with restaurateur Zach Erdem. It was a beautiful night with Fashion Designer Cindy Karen, her partner Dr. Garry Boxer and Lauren and Bob Roberts.

Clockwise from top left: Val at private dinner; Val at Kenneth and Maria

It was a true treat running into my sister from another mister, 80’s Icon and Three-Time Grammy nominee Taylor Dayne—who hails from Long Island. We danced, sang, celebrated and caught up until the wee hours of the morning.

When it was time to come home, I closed out with the perfect Sunday with Sancerre tuna tartare from Lulu’s in Sag Harbor and then I got some shuteye on the Hampton Jitney. I can’t wait for what the rest of summer has in store and to spill more adventures with you!

As always please say hello if you see me, follow my Instagram @valgreenberg and sign up for my website newsletter on youvebeenVALidated.com #youvebeenVALidated Val

LA Living

Laura’s LA!

Long Island to LaLa Land! From soaking up the SoCal sun to hanging out with the hottest in the Hamptons, the summer is flying by and so are my airline miles! Upon landing in New York, I took my layover hair right to Lucie Pellegrino. To look camera ready follow her @BeautieByLucie on Instagram. She is on location throughout the tri-state area. Trust me, use her and your blowout will last way past the “final call” of any east end event you attend.

Next, in a New York minute, I’m back in LA. Traveling can be so tough on your skin, so I beelined it from LAX to the Beauty Ranch in Brentwood. My tired dull skin emerged flawless with no pain and no downtime. A personalized treatment plan from celebrity skincare expert and RN, Nurse Jamie has made my pores and fine lines vanish. Make sure you’re following @NurseJamieLA and shop all the products she uses on

me and her elite celebrity clientele at nursejamie.com

Soon, I was ready to hit the red carpet, however, a mole on my nose was suss, so who better to call than the doctor trusted with every starlet’s nose, Dr. Deepak Dugar. He’s been featured on Bravo TV’s Denise Richards and Her Wild Things show. Dr. Dugar tells Hamptons Storyboard; “Summer, whether in the Hamptons or in Sardinia, is all about sun-drenched days— but it’s also the season to be vigilant. Sunscreen is always recommended for skin protection and cancer prevention. Keep an eye out for any moles that change in size, color, or symmetry. Subtle shifts can signal early skin cancer, and there is nothing more luxurious than prioritizing your health. A quick check-in with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon is the ultimate summer self-care.”

Join me as I navigate being a bicoastal babe as I travel to and from Hollywood and the Hamptons! Connect with me on IG and X, @LauraAronso and stay tuned for the launch of @BreakingNewsBabe on Instagram and TikTok for the stories that get lost in the scrolling. Thank you for spending the summer with me and Hamptons Storyboard! See you in the next edition if we don’t get a chance to meet out east first! Looking forward to Labor Day! With Love, LA

She is the Corporate Head of Nutrition for Sullivan & Cromwell and serves as the Nutrition Advisor to Kroma Wellness, shaping their approach to quality nutrition. As a trusted leader in wellness, Sarah supports high-performing executives and public figures, including Gregg Renfrew, Molly Sims, and Jennifer Garner. What prompted you to get into the wellness space? My journey began as a health crisis - that turned into a career in 2016 and so Sarah Wragge Wellness (SWW®) was born. For most of my life, I struggled with gut issues, acid reflux, and constant inflammation. By the time I was 18, I’d already had multiple colonoscopies and endoscopies — and still, no answers. When I started working as a young professional, things only got worse. On a whim, I decided to try a cleanse and for the first time, I truly felt the impact that food had on my body. That was my wake-up call. I went to see a holistic nutritionist who changed everything. I cut out sugar, caffeine, alcohol, dairy, and gluten, and focused on a mostly plant-based diet. Within a few weeks, I was off all my medications, sleeping through the night, my body felt lean and light, and the inflammation was gone. I had so much energy, I didn’t know what to do with it. That experience changed my life. I enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and became a Certified Holistic Health Coach. The demand

grew and in 2016 I left my corporate job and launched Sarah Wragge Wellness® What is Sarah Wragge Wellness?

Sarah Wragge Wellness (SWW) is a results-driven wellness company built on the belief that your health should fuel your life — not restrict it. At SWW, we combine sciencebacked nutrition, real-life coaching, and behavioral changes that actually stick. How is your wellness program different from others?

Sarah Wragge Wellness® is an innovative nutrition brand that helps you create lifelong, behavioral changes.

Lifestyle Integration, Not a Diet: Unlike traditional diets that are often restrictive, the SWW Method® is designed as a sustainable lifestyle. We focus on building healthy habits that seamlessly integrate into your daily routine, ensuring long-term success without deprivation.

Science-Based Approach: Our method is grounded in scientific principles, particularly emphasizing blood sugar balance. By teaching you how to maintain stable glucose levels, we help you achieve endless energy and effective fat-burning.

Personalized Support and Accountability: We provide personalized coaching tailored to your specific goals. Our team offers continuous support, including weekly calls, direct messaging, and individualized plans, ensuring you’re motivated and held accountable every step of the way.

Comprehensive Wellness

Focus: Beyond nutrition, The SWW Method® encompasses all facets of well-being, including exercise, stress management, and recovery. We educate and empower you to discover the powerful connection between nutrition and overall health, fostering lifelong behavioral changes.

Health and Wellness

Proven Results: Our clients’ successes speak volumes. Through a series of behavioral changes, they’ve experienced significant transformations, achieving a euphoric feeling they’ll never want to lose. In essence, our program is not about quick fixes but about equipping you with the knowledge, tools, and support to create lasting change and achieve your wellness goals.

What are 2 or 3 things we can do right now that will have a positive impact on our lives?

Cut out sugar. Hands down. It’s the root of all evil when it comes to your energy, your skin, your cravings, your gut — all of it. Drink your water. Your body loses so much water overnight detoxing, and if you’re waking up and going straight to coffee… you’re already behind. Hydration first-32 ounces as soon as you wake-up.

Prioritize protein — especially in your first meal. This is a game-changer. Getting high-quality protein early keeps you full, satisfied, and steady. Aim for 30+ grams at each meal.

Balance your “A” workouts with “B” workouts. I used to be a cardio junkie, but it wrecked my adrenals, and my hormones left me inflamed. When I started adding more “B” workouts — strength training, Pilates, movement that kept my heart rate under 140 — my body changed. Less stress, better recovery, and honestly… I felt stronger.

As for nutrition, what are some of your do’s and don’ts?

Do have a good 12-16 hour overnight fast (but all in relation to how you feel and your energy that day).

Do prioritize protein. Aim for 1 gram of protein for every lb of ideal body weight.

Don’t eat carbs during the day, save them for dinner. To have sustained energy throughout the day you want to keep your blood sugar balanced. Don’t snack all day. Aim to leave about 3-5 hours in between each of your meals, because if you are unable to coast, from meal to meal, then you are either not eating enough protein at your meals or you are over consuming carbohydrates.

Words of wisdom for those looking to live a healthier life. Being healthy doesn’t have to be hard — it just has to be consistent. Drink more water. Go for a walk after dinner. Eat real food that makes you feel good. You don’t have to be perfect — you just have to be curious and willing to listen to your body.

Glam Galore with Celebrity Make-Up Artist Bria Martone & Celebrity Stylist Ashley Nostramo

Bria Martone is a professional celebrity make-up artist and stylist. She uses her talents to make her clients look and feel their best.

Q: How do you get that glam look?

A: Start with your foundation. One of my FAVs is Estee Lauder, it delivers flawless coverage but only if the skin is prepped properly. Skin prep, like hair prep, is everything. Without it, your foundation won’t lay smoothly or last throughout the day. Start with a good toner, a hydrating serum, a moisturizer, sunscreen then use a primer to create a perfect base.

Q: How do you get that bold dramatic look for the camera?

A: I love pairing a statement eye with a muted lip. Some of my go-to brands include Estee Lauder, P. Louise, MAC, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Tarte, Bare Minerals, Hourglass, and One/Size. The One/Size On ‘Till Dawn setting spray is my holy grail for locking in make-up and making it waterproof. This spray will keep your make-up in place for hours. These products helped to make the day with Dolores go smoothly and ensured a long lasting and flawless finish.

Q: How do I know what makeup palette colors I should be wearing?

A: I always recommend bronze tones, golds and other warm shades for brown eyes as they enhance the natural depth and richness. For blue eyes use copper, rose gold and berry tones. They will make the eye color pop. Hazel eyes look stunning with purples, pinks and greens. These combinations compliment the eye color but also elevate the entire make-up look. The right products and color choices make all the difference in creating a stunning professional make-up application that enhances natural beauty. Make-up should make you feel confident, creative, and unstoppable.

As a professional celebrity stylist, Ashley Nostramo, does the "do" that makes her clients stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Bria is a Long Island based celebrity stylist/make-up artist. DM for an appointment on IG @briamartone_mancuso

Q: Ashley, big hair is back and larger than ever. Looks from the 60’s to the 90’s are back and providing inspiration for this Summer’s big hair trend. How do you put this into play and get the look of Cindy Crawford, Beyoncé or Jennifer Lopez?

A: A solid base is the way to get big curls, and sexy waves that scream effortless bombshell,

I love using Kenra shampoo and conditioner for that clean, hydrated canvas. Next up is everything-styling prep. I use Kenra’s blow dry spray then I go in with their dry texture spray for grip after your hair is dry and styled. For added definition, I use Redken spray wax, and for a strong finish-Schwarzkopf Got2B Glued hairspray for hold.

Q: How do you get that glossy camera-ready shine?

A: A pump of Verb ghost oil is your BFF. It’s not greasy and it gives a fabulous glow to your hair.

Q: How do you make your blow-out last longer than your weekend crush?

A: Avoid having your date touch your hair, that is if you two can keep your hands off each other-lol. Hair is off limits when it comes to having your blow-out last. Regardless of who you sleep with, definitely sleep with a loose silk scrunchie or satin pillowcase.

Q: How do you refresh your blowout on those hectic photo shoot days?

A: Use light hairspray and a wide tooth comb, this will help revive the curls and tame the fluff. Use a quality blow dryer and a Bionic curling iron to refresh the curls. This will take your volume from “meh” to “whoa!”

Q: How do you tame your hair in this summer humidity?

A: Fight it back with frizz control products and keep your hands out of your hair. Dry shampoo and dry texture sprays aren’t just for lazy days, they add volume and soak up oil.

It’s not magic, it’s all method. With the right tools and products, you’re just one good hair flip away from world domination.

The Science of Female Friendships: Friendships

WHY WE REALLY CAN’T QUIT EACH OTHER

So, here’s the thing about female friendships that science is finally catching up to: we’re basically walking around with built-in stress relief systems disguised as brunch companions, and honestly it’s about time someone gave us credit for this evolutionary masterpiece.

You know that feeling when you’re absolutely losing your mind over something—maybe your boss is being a nightmare, or you’ve convinced yourself that your partner’s delayed text response means he’s clearly fallen into a manhole—and then you call your friend? Within minutes, you’re not just calmer; you’re practically floating on a cloud of “everything’s going to be fine” energy. Well, congratulations, you’ve just experienced what UCLA researchers call the “tend-and-befriend” response, and it’s basically our superpower.

The Tend-and-Befriend Revolution

While men are out there having their fight-or-flight moments (very dramatic, very exhausting), women are more likely to adopt a tend-and-befriend strategy rather than fight-or-flight when faced with stress. It’s like we looked at evolution and said, “You know what? Instead of punching things or running away, what if we just... talked about it over coffee?” Revolutionary.

The Chemical Reason Your Friends Are Better Than Therapy

The chemical mastermind behind this phenomenon is oxytocin, aka the “love hormone,” though I prefer to think of it as the “don’t let me make terrible decisions alone” hormone. When oxytocin is released as part of the stress response in women, it buffers the fight or flight response and encourages us to gather with other women instead. It’s like having a tiny bartender in your brain who knows exactly when to cut you off from your own anxiety and hand you a phone to call your BFF.

But here’s where it gets really interesting: when we actually engage, studies suggest that more oxytocin is released, which further counters stress and produces a calming effect. It’s a beautiful cycle, really. The more we lean into our friendships, the more our brains reward us

with feel-good chemicals. It’s like a loyalty program, but for emotional support.

The Friendship Statistics

And before you start thinking this is all just warm, fuzzy feelings, let me hit you with some hard facts. More women (98%) reported having a best friend than did men (85%). We’re not just better at making friends; we’re practically professionals at it. Men, bless them, are apparently more likely to have a romantic partner but no best friend, which honestly explains so much about why they seem perpetually confused by our group chats. In fact, 53% of women say they have between one and four best friends.

The health benefits are where things get really compelling. Women with strong social support networks are less likely to experience or at least reduce the effects from depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Basically, your friend group isn’t just your entertainment committee; they’re your personal medical team. Who needs expensive therapy when you have one who gives excellent pep talks and another who always knows exactly what to say when you’re spiraling?

How We “Thrive Together”

There’s also this fascinating research from UC Santa Barbara, appropriately called, “Thriving together” that explains why women are so good together. They found female friendships tend to be higher in self-disclosure and more frequently relied on for social support, which, as you probably know from your own life, gives you both physical and psychological benefits. Women are also more effective at providing social support.

This gives us an edge in many categories, from health and longevity to a more prosperous career—more so than their male counterparts. So, the next time someone dismisses your girls’ trip as frivolous, you can inform them that you’re actually engaging in evidencebased wellness practices. You’re not being indulgent; you’re being strategic.

What’s particularly delicious about all this research is that it validates what women have always known but were often made to feel guilty about: that our friendships aren’t just nice-to-have

accessories to our “real” lives. They’re fundamental to our well-being. Friendships between women are special. They shape who we are and who we are yet to be. They soothe our tumultuous inner world, fill the emotional gaps in our marriage, and help us remember who we really are.

When Good Friendships Go Bad

But here’s the plot twist that nobody talks about in those heartwarming friendship studies: sometimes the very system designed to keep us thriving becomes the thing that’s slowly poisoning us. Because not every friendship ages like fine wine. Some ferment into something bitter and unrecognizable, and suddenly you’re dealing with a friend who’s turned into that person who can’t celebrate your success. You know the one—she’s weaponized every shared vulnerability you’ve ever offered, and now your joy has become her personal affront to the universe.

The research on oxytocin and tend-andbefriend is beautiful in theory, but it doesn’t account for what happens when one friend becomes a professional victim. There’s this particularly cruel irony that happens when women hit their forties and older—the very age when we’re supposed to be reaping the benefits of our carefully cultivated support networks—and suddenly you realize that your friend’s “support” now comes with a side of passive-aggressiveness and jealously - emotional quicksand, if you will. The harder you try to maintain them, the more you sink. They become exhausting. Sometimes the most radical act of self-care is admitting that some friendships have an expiration date, and that’s not a failure.

But Really, It’s All Good

So, the next time someone suggests that female friendships are complicated or “dramatic,” you can smile serenely and explain that what they’re actually witnessing is a highly sophisticated biological system designed to keep us sane, healthy, and thriving. We’re not being extra; we’re being evolutionary. And frankly, it’s about time the rest of the world caught up.

dopt, don’t shop. In the United States, in 2024, 5.8 million dogs and cats entered the shelter/ rescue system. This obviously does not take into account all the other types of animals like horses, rabbits, birds, gerbils, ferrets, and small livestock, to name a few, that need rescuing. There is much for us to do in this world. If you are able and willing to adopt, foster or help a shelter/rescue financially support an animal, please do so. My family just adopted a rescue pet (a 6 year old female chocolate Yorkie) from a local Long Island rescue-Yorkie911 Rescue in Smithtown. They had soooooo many cute and cuddly dogs (all small) of various ages. Yorkie911 Rescue is a 501(c)(3) run by Heidi Walker. Heidi started out as a volunteer for a Pennsylvania based rescue that sent dogs to New York for fostering and/or adoption. After volunteering for several years, the organization decided to concentrate more locally and thus they discontinued their New York operation. Well, Heidi was so involved in the rescue industry that she just could not stop rescuing. So, in July of 2010 Heidi started Yorkie911 Rescue. She’s adopted-out hundreds of dogs and continues to advocate for all creatures be they big, small, furry or not. So, if you’re in the process of looking for your next “fur baby” remember to adopt, don’t shop and check them out online at www.yorkie911rescue.com

he 27th Annual Broadway Barks Takes Over Shubert Alley. Broadway royalty Bernadette Peters and Tony Award winner Beth Leavel, helped transform the heart of the theater district into a haven of hope for animals in need. There were wagging tails and belly rubs as far as the eye could see.

Local rescues: Give Me Shelter, Husky House, Long Island Bulldog Rescue, Pet ResQ Inc., Remember Me Rescue, Badass Animal Rescue, and Social Tees among others, gathered under the marquee lights, each bringing lovable dogs and cats in search of forever homes. A veritable Who’s Who of Broadway stars such as Andy Karl, Gavin Lee, and Jessica Vosk, took to the mic with furry friends in tow, sharing their stories and the occasional slobbery kiss.

“I’ve shared the stage with some incredible talents,” joked Mean Girls alum Erika Henningsen as she cradled a tiny tabby kitten, “but none as adorable as this one!” Lesli Margherita of Gypsy fame helped a retired couple from Queens adopt a lovable shy dachshund mix. “This is better than opening night,” she said, with tears in her eyes as she hugged the new pet parents.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Michelle Williams, Grammywinning singer and star of Death Becomes Her, shared her own journey of adopting two senior rescue dogs. “These animals aren’t broken—they’re survivors. They just need a stage to shine on, like all of us.” Even masked and mysterious Orville Peck made an appearance, to introduce a group of

The event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, goes far beyond showbiz glitz. Broadway Barks raises awareness about the importance of adopting—not shopping—and strongly promotes spaying and neutering to reduce the number of homeless pets across the city.

Bernadette Peters summed it up perfectly: “Theater people— and animal lovers—have the biggest hearts. Together, we make magic.” For more information visit BroadwayBarks.org

Anniversary 77th

Artists and Writers Charity Softball Game

Batter up! It’s that time of year again, time to play ball to benefit some east end charities. The starstudded Artists and Writers Charity Softball Game is played every August (August 16, 2025 with batting practice @ 12:30 pm and the first pitch @ 2 pm) at Herrick Park in East Hampton. Now in its 77th year, this juggernaut of a game started with humble beginnings in 1948 in the front yard of artist Wilfrid Zogbaum. Back then East Hampton, and especially Springs, offered inexpensive large studios that were brightly lit and very conducive to an artists’ craft. Artists Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning, Philip Pavia, Jackson Pollock and Joan Mitchell were some of the first to play the game. Since then, they’ve been followed by such luminaries as Leif Hope-he loves to slip in a turnip ‘ball’ and pitch it to an unsuspecting batter, Chevy Chase, Alan Alda, Christie Brinkley, Christopher Reeve, Paul Simon, Dr. Ruth, Bianca Jagger, James Lipton, Joan Mitchell, Mr. G., Mike Lupica, Chris Wragge, Joe Torre, Lori Singer, Tommy Clohessy, Carl Bernstein, Joseph Palmisanoguest announcer, Joseph Palmisano III-batboy, and President Bill Clinton who traditionally throws out the first pitch.

Putting this on year after year is no base on ballswalk in the park, just ask the game’s President-David Brandman. Many people donate their time to ensure that this event is a success and that includes David and his family. His family records the game for re-broadcast and of course posterity. David

shared what’s up for this year.

“It’s one of the most family-friendly events that you can attend out east. There’s something for everyone. The game has raised not only money but, it has brought awareness to many of the east end’s charitable organizations,” says David. This year they’re playing for East End Hospice, The Retreat, Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center and Phoenix HouseWainscott. Also, for the first time ever, last year’s game donations were able to start the first ever East Hampton High School Scholarship awards. Three scholarships

of $1000 each were given to East Hampton High School students for journalism, performing arts and for visual arts. Congratulations to all the winners! David is excited for the crowds and the stars who make this game what it is. He’s looking forward to continuing this storied tradition for years to come. So, grab your family and friends and come on out for a good cause.

Play ball!

In Memoriam: Tommy Clohessy

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of our dear friend and longtime Artists & Writers Game player, Tommy Clohessy — actor, producer, writer, and former boxer. A big man with an even bigger heart, Tommy brought passion, humor, and kindness to the field every year. He was more than a teammate; he was family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.

Rest in peace, good friend. David Brandman, President Artists and Writers Charity Game

Sustainability

The Push to Get Rid of Plastic

Sustainable Alternatives To Single-Use Plastic

Isat down

Gropper wanted to solve a problem she saw everywhere: Plastic. Repurpose was created to get rid of plastic and make sustainability more convenient and accessible to all people everywhere.

What is Repurpose and how did you come up with the idea for the company?

Repurpose is the leading U.S. brand in certified compostable household products, since 2011! Now available in 15,000+ retail locations including Costco, Target, Whole Foods, Kroger, and Amazon, we’re building a future without plastic, powered by plant-based innovation and mission-driven values. Our line includes compostable cups, compostable plates, cutlery, and bowls and household goods offerings including bamboo paper towels, bamboo toilet paper, and compostable trash bags.

I’ve been passionate about sustainability my whole life, and I went on to study environmental design in graduate school. After working in the green building space for many years, the idea for Repurpose came from a deep frustration with how much plastic waste I was seeing in the world. I realized there was a real need, and an opportunity - to make better options for people who want to live more sustainably without sacrificing ease or style.

How difficult was it to actually create and formulate the products?

Very! It took years of research, trial and error, and a lot of persistence. We were

trying to replace plastic - a material that’s incredibly cheap, durable, and deeply entrenched in our systems, with something that was plantbased, non-toxic, and certified compostable, and it had to actually work in real life.

We partnered with scientists and engineers, working with proprietary blends that could handle heat, moisture, and the demands of daily use. We didn’t want to compromise on design - our goal was always to create products that felt as beautiful as they are functional. There were many challenges in those early years but we stayed committed!

How do you see Repurpose growing?

We’re at an exciting inflection point. More than ever, consumers want sustainable products that fit seamlessly into their lives - and that’s where Repurpose thrives. We’re expanding our product line to include more reusable and compostable essentials that meet people where they are, whether that’s at home, on the go, or entertaining - all free of toxins and microplastics. Retail expansion is a big focus too - we want Repurpose to be accessible to everyone, everywhere.

With all the headlines about the impact of microplastics on our health, it seems like more people want to stay away from plastics and move toward replacements. What would be the obstacles standing in consumers’ way?

Awareness is definitely growing, and that’s encouraging. People are starting to connect the dots between what’s convenient and what’s potentially harmful, not just for the planet, but for their own bodies. Microplastics have made their way into our food, water, even our bloodstreamsso it’s personal now.

But the biggest obstacle is still access. We’ve all been trained to reach for what’s easy, what’s available on the shelf. Sustainable alternatives often feel niche, expensive, or hard to find. That’s what we’re trying to change at Repurposemaking non-toxic, plant-based products that are affordable, accessible, and stylish. When sustainable options look and feel good, and work just as well (or better), they become the easy choice. That’s where the shift really starts to happen - when convenience meets consciousness.

Unfortunately, there are deep rooted perceptions that waste-derived, recycled or recovered materials are inferior to virgin materials. How do you change this mindset and not just get more consumers interested, but companies too?

It starts with redefining what “value” looks like. Virgin materials have long been seen as premium because they’re new - but “new” often comes at the expense of the planet. We have to flip that narrative. Materials that come from recycled or recovered sources actually add value when you consider their impact because

they conserve resources, reduce pollution, and often support circular economies.

At Repurpose, design plays a big role in changing perception. We believe sustainability and style aren’t mutually exclusive - and when you elevate the experience of a product, you challenge the idea that ‘eco’ means compromise.

For companies, it’s about showing that sustainability isn’t just a moral imperative, it’s a business opportunity. Consumers are demanding better. Brands that don’t evolve risk becoming irrelevant. The more we spotlight innovation, performance, and profitability in the circular space, the faster we shift the mindset - from “less than” to the future.
