Rocco DiSpirito Pops-Up in the Hamptons
By Joseph Palmisano
Isat down and broke bread with chef, restaurateur, author (latest cookbook: Everyday Delicious), TV host and James Beard award winner, Rocco DiSpirito. Rocco is a native New Yorker whose culinary prowess came to him at the early age of sixteen. An age when most kids are hanging out, driving around town, going to the movies with their friends. Not Rocco, he instead enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and began his meteoritic rise to literally the top of the food chain.
All this might not have been possible if it were not for his mother, Nicolina. Her down-to-earth home cooking, utilizing fresh ingredients and simple techniques, ignited the flame within Rocco to start his culinary journey.
A journey that now has landed him in Southampton, with his new epicurean establishment-Pop-Up by Rocco. Here he infuses Italian coastal cuisine with and within the Heart of the Hamptons.
Q: Why Southampton?
A: Southampton chose me. The local ingredients, the atmosphere, the people, it’s the best of all worlds.
Q: Why a pop-up?
A: A pop-up is a great opportunity to bring something fresh and new to the area, in peak season, without the encumbrances of a year-round restaurant.
Q: How is creating a pop-up different from creating a restaurant?
A: With a pop-up you’re creating an experience that only lasts for a few months as opposed to a restaurant, you only need to plan for the short term.
Q: What’s the biggest challenge?
A: Both have the same challenges: staff, ingredients, purveyors, financing and permits.
Q: What’s the vibe?
A: It’s casual but elevated. Think home cooking but with a jacket.
Q: How are you incorporating the areas local ingredients?
A: We’re buying local ingredients, (red shrimp, Peconic Bay scallops and produce) as the season
progresses and they become available.
Q: Walk us through some of the highlights of the menu.
A: We’ve got a tuna crudo, that was created for the cookbook, being done Italian deli style. We’ve got a raw bar that features lobsters, oysters, tuna and more. We’ve
also got paccheri pesto rosso (semolina pasta, red shrimp and heirloom tomatoes) and everyone’s favorite—sweet nut crusted halibut, to name a few.
Q: Which dish is most personal to you and why?
A: Spaghetti pomodoro. This is something we would make at home. Especially with homemade tomato sauce. This dish with the pasta being done al dente and a sprinkle of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, brings back a flood of childhood memories.
Q: Your career is expansive. From chef to restaurateur to author and TV host, which one are you most drawn to and why?
A: Being in the restaurant. It’s my comfortable and happy place to be. The rush of service, the real-time feedback, the opportunity to make people happy, is what it’s all about. I love to lift people up, especially when it’s a special occasion.
Q: What meal could you eat for the rest of your life?
A: Pizza!
Q: Any advice for our aspiring chef readers?
A: Learn your craft. Master it and develop a point of view. Once you have this all down, blend your craft and point of view and become the best YOU that you can be.

If you are anything like me, I find myself dreaming about the warm summer months and look forward to the July 4th weekend all year long. There are so many fun ways we can make the day special for ourselves and those we love most. From dressing up in a red, white and blue wardrobe to taking a page from Cynthia Erivo’s playbook by incorporating dynamic nail art, baking delicious spirited deserts, enjoying fresh eats off the grill or sunbathing on our favorite pool floats. Here are some of my favorite suggestions to be sure your Fourth goes off with fireworks.
One of my favorite and simple recipes is angel food cake covered in whipped cream, strawberries and blueberries. One of the best beverages to sip alongside the above festive sweet is MAKE—which is a truly special premium matcha brand that’s redefining how we energize, connect, and unwind. Discovering and making this a new ritual is both indulgent and grounding. This summer, MAKE is teaming up with the talented artist Zoë Pawlak for a special Hamptons pop-up featuring matcha tastings and intuitive oracle card readings by Zoë herself. LA Living
Laura’sLA!
By Laura Aronson
From Long Island to LaLa Land! After spending almost my entire life in New York, this winter I finally got fed up with the cold and thought I’d go west! Leaving everything and everyone I’ve ever known behind, I signed a lease in Los Angeles. So out from behind the news anchor desk and into the sunshine I go, trading in my bodega bagel for an iced matcha in the morning. But seriously, try switching out your coffee for matcha if you haven’t already. I genuinely have never felt better. The focus on wellness and a healthy lifestyle in LA has truly changed every step in my routine. My seasonal allergies are gone too, blown away by the coastal winds!
So how have I been able to have so much success in a new city? I have spent everyday networking since I landed at LAX. Building connections has been so much fun! I also enjoy searching social media each day for the latest trends. Beauty Ranch is one of my favorite spots in LA and Nurse Jamie’s products are all available online to help you stay red carpet ready this summer. Now, since we’re on the topic of red carpets, for invites to the hottest parties and events make sure to follow my friends at @maestroentla on Instagram.
Change can be scary and chasing your dream is often the most challenging decision you will ever make. Whatever phase of life you’re in and whatever you are passionate about, that industry needs you. When I was in college I remember telling a friend, “I’m going to wait until I lose 10 pounds before I have headshot photos taken” and she said to me, “the industry is ready for you whenever you’re ready for it.” So after heeding her advice, I went on to work as an on air anchor and reporter for an ABC regional affiliate news station covering much of upstate New York. From coast to coast, local television news just does not have the reach it once did. I take so much pride in my work as a journalist and in the trust instilled in me. Everyday I was in thousands of families’ living rooms as they would flip through the channels. Yet, in many of the newsrooms I found myself in, I was often one of the youngest employees. As a millennial, I know we tend to have short attention spans. We were raised scrolling through social media so I have learned to prioritize quick and concise storytelling to satisfy that instant gratification. I am dedicated to sharing the stories that often get lost in the scrolling which is why I am so excited to launch @breakingnewsbabe on Instagram and TikTok. Yes, you heard it here first and I want to hear from you! What do you want to see? What voices do you want to hear?
Come with me as I navigate being a bicoastal babe and travel back and forth between Hollywood and the Hamptons this summer! Please connect with me on Instagram and X, @LauraAronso so we can adventure together. Keeping with tradition, you know I can’t miss the fireworks on the beach this fourth of July weekend in Montauk. So I’ll see you in the next edition if we don’t get a chance to meet on the east end first!
With Love, LA

Zoe is the vision of the property owner, Bridgette Posner, silent partner Chris Panzeca, media producer and former restaurant manager Ryan Verneuille, and celebrity chef and restaurateur Ralph Pagano, who is known for his hit Miami restaurant group and past Hamptons staple-World Pie. Chris, since the Hamptons is synonymous with luxury, how did the concept of opening a private club come to be?
Over the last several years, I’ve been closely following the rise of private clubs in New York City and other metropolitan areas. At the same time, my experience as an operator in the Hamptons and Montauk area showed me a clear trend: guests often waited in long lines, couldn’t secure large tables, and sometimes weren’t even seated despite having reservations. I saw an opportunity to fill that gap out east. That’s how the private club idea was born — not only to solve that issue but to elevate the entire dining experience. I wanted to create a hyper-hospitality environment, where every member feels recognized and valued. That means remembering names — their own, their spouse’s, their kids’, even their nanny’s — and knowing their preferences before they sit down. Our goal is to create a true home away from home in the Hamptons, where members receive concierge-level service with every visit.
What are some of the out-of-thebox experiences members can look forward to?
One of the unique perks is our beach transport access. Members can spend the summer at their Hamptons home and use our concierge service to be driven directly to their favorite local beach — no hassle, no parking stress, just seamless summer luxury.
Ryan, you’ve been on the East End your whole life, how will Zoe encapsulate
Chris Panzeca, Ryan Verneuille, Chef Ralph Pagano
the Hamptons feel and work with local vendors?
When the team from Hampton Bride stopped by, I was genuinely excited to see some familiar faces — the incredible Kerry, Paul, and even East End event legend Steven McKenna, who I first met years ago while working in Bridgehampton. It’s an honor to now be collaborating with such key players and dot-connectors in the Hamptons community.
Ralph, your culinary visions are legendary, being that Zoe will be in the heart of the East End’s bountiful, fresh and varied food supply, what is inspiring Zoe’s menu?
The menu is inspired by all things Hamptons that include a cavalcade of my favorite East End ingredients, mashed up with good old-fashioned cooking.
The Skate wing with crab is one of my favorites. An often-overlooked fish that is just kick ass in flavor and texture and loves to swim with lemon, butter and crab!
Next, the Crazy Sexy Tuna gives local tuna a Spanish flair and is bold, bright and fresh.
As for those who want a burger, anytime I get a chance to smash a Wagyu burger into queso is a good day. Great for sharing, it’s the backyard favorite cheeseburger done up and tricked out! But before any of this, I like to start my meal with a glass of champagne and a caviar bump!
With all that’s going on Ryan, at the end of the day what do you want Zoe to be known for?
I want Zoe to be known for its commitment to capturing the true spirit of the Hamptons in every detail. That means sourcing local organic produce, serving the freshest Montauk seafood, and even featuring honey from Hamptons bee farms. We’ll also be bringing that signature Hamptons magic through seasonal experiences — from Summer in a Bottle nights to classic East End gatherings — with updates and event details available on our website.
Whether you’re planning a wedding, seeking a stylish escape with friends, or simply looking to become part of something more curated and connected, Zoe is the ultimate summer destination — and beyond.

Set Sail!
By Joseph Palmisano
We dropped anchor and spoke with Dhardra Blake, Founder and CEO of LuxuryDayCharters.com.
Through her many adventures, Dhardra has found her way back to the sea and at the helm of a successful boutique yacht charter agency.
Q: Tell us about yourself.
A: I was born & raised in Florida. I have always had a love for the ocean, being that I grew up on boats with my family. My career has spanned very diverse sectors from working in hospitality (managing nightclubs during the Olympics and cheffing on super yachts) to working in the fast paced affiliate marketing department of ESPN to managing our own charter yacht and business. I have also worked in politics on several elections as well as in the “yachting philanthropy,” space, helping to grow and inspire, via a private-sector disaster relief organization, YachtAid Global. I enjoy unique culinary immersion experiences, traveling to new exotic destinations and exploring the lesser traveled villages and waterways of the East Coast and Caribbean.
Q: What inspired you to establish LuxuryDayCharters.com?
A: I noticed a need in the marketplace for a luxury yachting experience by the day, instead of the traditional minimum of a week-long cruise. Not everyone has the TIME necessary for longer vacations.
Q: What is your vision/mission?
A: I started the company in 2011 to offer access to world-class yachts for corporate events, private celebrations and vacations—without the cost or commitment of vessel ownership and dealing with all the associated expenses, hassles and upkeep!
Vision: Deliver world-class, customized yachting lifestyle services on a flexible basis via customized charters to extraordinary destinations along with delivering life-changing experiences that foster health & happiness for our clients. Mission: Provide the most extraordinary short-term luxury yacht charter services available, consistently exceeding the expectations of our clients and their guests.
Q: What areas are you in, as well as what type and how do you decide what yachts to offer?
A: My phone is my office, but essentially, we follow the yachts which follow the Sun because that is where the clients are.
Summer: The Hamptons / NY + New England and the Mediterranean. Winter: South Florida / Palm Beach, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
We choose yachts based on client tastes, preferences and the type of event / experience they are seeking along with the size of the group and other factors. Primarily the newer, sleeker models are most popular.
Q: How do you separate yourself from other luxury charters?
A: We pride ourselves on detailed and expedient communication. We also focus on shorter duration experiences, from 1 to 7 days (although many of our clients have booked a week / weeks / month, etc.) We curate a service that delivers extraordinary excursions executed by seasoned, vetted crews.
Q: What are some of the services and destinations you offer clients?
A: We offer customized luxury yacht charter experiences for private clients, groups and families as well as corporate events and large event celebrations, from a half-day / 4 hours to a week or longer.
Q: How do you personalize your clients’ experience?
A: Each client is unique, so we take the time to understand their ideal outcome, the occasion, guest makeup, budget and of course preferences for yacht size and style, design and layout, entertaining space, food and beverage preferences /
private chef if desired, cruising grounds and destinations.
Q: Describe a typical client experience.
A: Generally, we conduct 4/6/8 hr charter excursions for 8-10 guests over an afternoon with swimming / water sports or a leisurely lunch at Duryea’s in Orient Point. From there we swing by The Pridwin or Sunset Beach followed by an early evening sunset cruise back to port, possibly on a gorgeous 68’ Flybridge motor yacht embarking out of an idyllic, historically nautical town such as Sag Harbor, NY.
Q: What’s your favorite charter destination?
A: The Exumas in the Bahamas are some of the most beautiful waters in the world. We love sending clients there who have never been.
Q: Craziest client request?
A: A crazy request was for fire dancers! A hard NO on a yacht!
Q: What are three do’s and don’ts when on a luxury charter?
A:
• Do respect the crew and captain.
• Do pack soft luggage.
• Do bring non-marking, soft-soled shoes.
• Don’t bring illegal substances or break local laws.
• Don’t overpack or bring prohibited items.
• Don’t forget to communicate preferences early.
Thank you & we look forward to having you onboard!
Summer Sans the Hangover: Katy Perry’s De Soi Reinvents Drinking
By Alison Kosik:
Author of ‘What’s Up With Women And Money? How To Do All The Financial Stuff You’ve Been Avoiding’
With summer in full swing, it’s time for some cool, fun drinks minus the alcohol. I sat down with Scout BrissonCEO of De Soi, a non-alcoholic sparkling aperitif brand cofounded by singer/songwriter Katy Perry and Morgan McLachlan, to talk more about the brand.
Let’s get it out of the way— how do you pronounce De Soi?
It’s De SWA: think French apéritif meets California cool. People mispronounce it all the time (including AI, hilariously), but we like to think it’s part of the charm. The name loosely comes from the term “maîtrise de soi” aka self-control.
What inspired you to join the De Soi team and build in the non-alcoholic space?
I explored the sober curious movement back in 2019 but found the market lacking in options that felt…well, chic. I met Katy and Morgan in 2021 and tried some early De Soi prototypes—one sip and I was all in. As someone who used to drink in social settings mostly to fit in, I knew the need for sophisticated, non-alc alternatives that didn’t feel like a downgrade.
What’s your go-to De Soi flavor for summer in the Hamptons?
Right now? Très Rosé, our sparkling rosé alternative. It’s bright, floral, and has a little funk that makes it more interesting than a traditional
rosé. But honestly, Spritz Italiano is having a moment too. It’s our spin on an Aperol Spritz, and since that’s officially the most-ordered cocktail in America, we knew we had to give the people a non-alc version that actually tastes good.
What sets De Soi apart from other non-alcoholic drinks on the shelf?
Flavor first, always. Our cofounder, Morgan is a distiller, and she builds real layers of flavor using culinary ingredients like yuzu, rosemary, or tart cherry— so you’re not left sipping something flat or overly sweet. And our adaptogens— like reishi, lion’s mane, and L-theanine—are there to help you unwind, not just replace the buzz.
How does drinking De Soi make people feel?
Light, connected, and still in control. We’re not anti-alcohol, we’re pro-option. You can drink a De Soi at golden hour, at a baby shower, after a workout, or between cocktails. It’s about adding more to your experience, not taking
something away.
What does a perfect summer evening look like for you?
A long dinner outside with friends, mismatched glassware, maybe some grilled peaches, and definitely chilled cans of De Soi on the table. The older I get, the more I realize that presence is the ultimate luxury AND it’s a lot easier to stay present when you’re not on your third glass of something strong.
You’ve grown De Soi into thousands of stores—what’s been your biggest challenge so far?
Creating a category. We’ve had retailers ask us, “Wait, people want to pay for non-alcoholic drinks?” But we stayed the course, built demand through early adopters, and used every win as proof of concept. Now, not only are they carrying De Soi, they’re expanding the shelf. What’s your personal philosophy when it comes to health and wellness?
I’m all about balance. I’ve struggled with disordered eating in the past, so I try to make choices that support mental and physical health without shame or extremes. De Soi was born from that same belief: that indulgence and intention can absolutely
coexist.
What’s next for the brand?
We’re always dreaming up new flavors—our latest, Haute Margarita, is a bold, bubbly take on a spicy margarita, with jalapeño heat and tangy lime, that’s already a huge hit. Plus, we’re pushing into more on-premise placements—think chic hotel bars and restaurants that want to offer something delicious for the modern drinker. The long-term goal? To make “not drinking” feel just as cool as ordering a cocktail.
One last thing: any advice for someone skipping alcohol this summer?
Start with curiosity, not restriction. Try swapping in a De Soi at your next dinner party and see how you feel. The point isn’t to miss out but instead to make the most of every moment.

Ticket2Events are Events Elevated
By Joseph Palmisano
Q: Tell us about yourselves.
A: We are Sean Koski & Brian Kelly, celebrity event producers and the cofounders of Ticket2Events, a luxury event planning company responsible for creating celebrity, luxury and charitably events around the globe! We are known for our seamless brand integrations and high-profile guest lists that turn social moments into media gold! Aside from our life of planning, we share our life extensively through the digital realm where we showcase and highlight luxury, including travels to unique destinations, resort reviews and
more though our socials and digital magazine, Eternal Traveler! With Summer here, we come back to our home away from home-Montauk. This has been a tradition for over 25+ years and we look forward to every summer spending time working in the Hamptons and relaxing in our home in Montauk.
Q: How do you elevate an event?
A: By making it better than the last - if a tent is needed, we make sure we have it. This year we’re elevating the event experience by using AC cooling units instead of fans.
Q: Why should someone hire an event planner?
Smart people hire event planners, that’s because they know how important it is to throw an unforgettable party, but they also know how important it is to enjoy their own event. With an event planner you’re able to host and be a guest all at once.
Q: Walk us through the party prep for your annual luxury luncheon event as well as the prep for the big day, a playby-play account. The party prep for our annual one-day-only private event is the result of months and months of precision planning. From the carpet size to the venue choice, to the hundreds of brands we curate every year, down to the type of water we serve, everything is thought out over the course of about a year. Having a plan and following its procedures allows us to execute with on time precision which then allows us to keep deadlines. The big day play-by-play is quite simple once it’s all been established.
Left to right: Sean Koski, Jennifer Aydin, LeeAnne Locken, Julia Haart, Wendell Holland, Teresa Giudice, Jill Zarin, Ally Shapiro, Dolores Catania, Brian Kelly
With a master plan to follow, putting all of the moving parts into place is quite simple. The interesting thing we’ve learned about party prep is that no amount of planning can prepare you for the outcome once the doors open. If it’s a properly planned party, guests will naturally find their fun, this is what keeps us going, seeing the joy on people’s faces make it all worthwhile.
Q: What can we expect for this year?
A: This year’s event will feature standout names like Chamberlain innovative garage door opener and DIY home access solution, upLift5 Beauty Device, and Saint JO Skincare. Also, set to launch exclusively at the event is actor and our friend, Jesse Metcalfe’s new skincare line, NUTRL. Complimentary consultations will be onsite with Rowe Plastic Surgery & Jen Dolce Aesthetics. Also onsite will be Addyi, the only FDA approved pill proven to increase a woman’s sex drive. Also at the event will be Buff Medical Resort, a worldclass longevity and wellness destination on Lake Constance in southern Germany. They’ll be there showcasing their 5-star luxury resort. As a sweet treat, there will be an ice cream bar from ColdSnap.
Their at home soft serve ice cream machines will be pumping out the sweet treats. So, get ready for these and so much more! VIP Guests will receive over the top gift bags by HULKEN Bag and Dagne Dover. Our VIP bags feature over $5,000 worth of products from brands such as LUMIFY, New Chapter, Coola, Mizz Korea, Beauty Bio, Sol De Janeiro, Grande Lash, Vacation INC, UNREAL Snack, Prime Cosmetics, and Alison Kosik’s smash hit book-“What’s Up with Women and Money?” As usual we will have scrumptious treats and eats, some of which will be provided by Hamptons Catered Affairs!
Q: Any unexpected surprises that have happened in the past (party crashers, noshow vendors, bad weather) How do you pivot and handle those types of happenings?
A: You always have to adapt to the unexpected. We believe that’s what separates an experienced planner from an inexperienced one. We always have a plan and make sure that no one notices the fires that we have to put out behind the scenes!
Q: One party planner piece of advice?
A: Hire a planner!

Jill Zarin: An Inside Look
By Cynthia Lynn
Q: Jill in 3 Words.
A: Driven, loyal and unfiltered.
Q: Wake-up routine?
A: First thing I do is check my phone— texts, emails, Instagram (in that order). Then I cuddle with Gary and Bossi. Around 6 AM, Gary heads to the gym and asks, “Do you want to come?” and I always say, “No way!” I brush my teeth, do a quick 10-minute skincare routine, and then get dressed for tennis, pickleball, or golf—or I start planning the lunch and dinner menu for my parents and us.
Q: Breakfast?
A: A banana, or Citarella semolina raisin bread toasted with butter. Sometimes an egg white omelet with OJ. Always a Diet Coke over nugget ice in a Stanley cup.
Q: Summer style?
A: Flowy dresses, big sunglasses, and a great blowout—effortless but polished. Realistically, I’m probably in a tennis dress.
Q: Go-to Summer Accessory?
A: A straw tote bag—big enough to carry everything from my sunscreen to my iPad.
Q: Never leave the house without?
A: License, lip gloss, my phone, an extra charger, and a Diet Coke (obviously!).
Q: The last person I texted?
A: Ally and Gary in our group chat—usually about work, dinner plans, or some friend drama.
Q: Secret talent?
A: I can spot a fake handbag from across the room.
Q: Best business advice and from whom?
A: “If you don’t ask, you don’t get.” Bobby told me that—and he was right.
Q: Go-To Perfume?
hydrangeas are perfect.
Q: What excites you about your event?
A: Seeing everyone come together for a cause, that means so much to me. Bobby was a big part of the event for the first 6 years. We started it to raise money for thyroid cancer research, and continuing it keeps his memory alive. Plus, I love watching our guests discover the brands and experiences that are curated. There are so many exciting new things happening! Brian Kelly & Sean Koski, of Ticket2Events, are curating
brands, and we all love to showcase this to everyone who attends!
Q: Bossi’s favorite thing to do?
A: Sit on my lap and get belly rubs. She’s a diva in disguise. The second she sees us packing or getting ready to leave, she jumps into her bag. It breaks my heart when I can’t take her.
Q: Must-have makeup item?
A: Self-tanner and fake eyelashes. Always!
Q: Dinner time?
A: I love to cook! My kitchen is fully stocked with everything. I make meals for my Aunt Gloria and her parents that they can freeze—chicken matzo ball soup is a fan favorite. My chocolate chip banana bread is a hit too. But right now I’m obsessed with my Ninja Creami that has a cone dispenser. I keep six pints ready at all times!
A: Baccarat Rouge 540. People stop me all the time to ask what I’m wearing.
Q: First stop in the Hamptons, why?
A: Goldberg’s for a toasted flat sesame bagel with butter, orange juice, and The New York Post. You’re not really in the Hamptons until you’ve had one.
Q: Favorite spot in the Hamptons to relax, why?
A: My backyard with Bossi. It’s peaceful, I can catch up on emails, and the
the best of the best experiences for our guests! Take the gift bag, this year it is HULKEN & Dagne Dover that will be filled with so many amazing brands like, LUMIFY, New Chapter, Coola, Mizz Korea, and Prime Cosmetics. Also, we will have brand launches like, Chamberlain, upLift 5 Beauty Device, Addyi and Saint JO Skincare. We are also set to exclusively launch actor Jesse Metcalfe’s new skincare line, NUTRL, at the event. We always get the newest and coolest
Q: What’s in your home that people would be surprised to know?
A: I have a secret stash of board games. I love a good family game night.
Q: Bedtime and last thing you do before bed?
A: I’m in bed by 8, asleep by 11. Last thing I do is cuddle Gary and give him a kiss goodnight—Bossi too!
Q: Advice to Entrepreneurs.
A: Be shameless. Promote yourself. Pitch your idea. Send the email. If you wait for permission, you’ll miss the opportunity.
Q: What I’m working on now.
A: Taking my own advice—Jill Zarin Home is in its 15th year! We sell gorgeous pet-proof, outdoor stain-proof, and handmade wool rugs, plus custom sizes. Ally and I designed a beautiful candle in a handblown glass with a double wall to keep the heat from burning through. The candle packaging features fun destinations, and the glass is reusable—perfect as a vase, pencil cup, or remote holder. All are available at jillzarin.com!
We also just launched our bedding line at Bealls Florida and HomeGoods, with more retailers coming this fall. Tariffs have been a challenge, but we’re still going strong. I’m also producing a reality series for Amazon later this year, with a few more exciting projects in the works.

Enter DJ CHEF, a Long Island native whose unique concept of simultaneously cooking and DJ’ing live has made him one of the most sought-after entertainers on the Hamptons party circuit.

Keeping Up With Your Health
By Dr. Marc Messineo
Maintaining good health involves a holistic approach, encompassing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It includes a balanced diet, regular exercise, sufficient sleep, stress management, and avoiding harmful substances like tobacco and excessive alcohol. Regular health checkups and screenings are also crucial for early detection and prevention of diseases.
Dr. Messineo is a family doctor located in Babylon, NY
For general health needs, everyone should have a primary care physician (PCP), often an internal medicine or family medicine doctor. Regular checkups, screenings, and vaccinations are crucial for overall health and disease prevention.
For women, it's important to have a Obstetrician-Gynecologist (Ob/Gyn).
Women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant should schedule regular prenatal visits. The Ob/Gyn can also screen for diseases that affect women, such as cervical cancer and breast cancer. The current guideline for mammogram screening, based on recommendations from the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), is to start screening for breast cancer at age 40, with screening every other year for women 40-74 years old who are at average risk. Women with a family history or other risk factors may need to start screening earlier, and individual risk assessments should be considered.
Prostate cancer screening guidelines generally recommend initiating a discussion with your PCP or urologist about PSA testing starting around age 50 for men at average risk, and earlier for those at higher risk. The American Cancer Society suggests starting discussions at age 45 for high-risk individuals, including those with a family history of earlyonset prostate cancer or those of African American descent.
Skin cancer screening guidelines primarily focus on regular skin self-exams and professional checkups, especially for those at higher risk. Monthly selfexams and annual screening by your PCP or Dermatologist are strongly recommended for individuals with a personal or family history of skin cancer, multiple moles, atypical moles, or other risk factors.
Screening for colon cancer can be done by a gastroenterologist. For most adults, colon cancer screening should start at age 45 and continue until age 75, with individual decisions made for those 76-85. The decision to screen adults 76-85 should be based on individual factors like overall health, life expectancy, and prior screening history.
Regularly visiting a dentist is crucial for maintaining overall health and wellbeing, offering numerous benefits beyond just dental health. It enables early detection of potential issues like cavities and gum disease, prevents serious problems, and can even impact overall health outcomes.
For most adults without a history of eye problems, comprehensive eye exams are recommended every 1 to 2 years. However, individuals with risk factors, such as diabetes or a family history of eye disease, may require more frequent exams. Periodic eye and vision examinations are an important part of preventive health care. Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms, so you might not know a problem exists. Early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems can help prevent vision loss.

WALTER BERNARD
From Runway to Bedroom: Dating and Sex Trends
WHY DATING TRENDS CHANGE FASTER THAN YOUR WARDROBE
By Dr. Cooper Lawrence, PhD
Fashion trends move fast. One minute we’re wearing neon green, next minute it’s hot pink. In my world of social psychology, dating and sex trends move just as quickly. You wouldn’t wear last year’s fashions, so don’t use old dating and sex rules either.
TRY THIS ON FOR SIZE
If love in the digital age is just another algorithm, are we all just swiping through simulations of soulmates? Sex and dating in 2025 is not what it used to be. Gone are the days when cheap red wine and an expensive looking stranger at a Southampton gallery opening was enough to stir your heart (and maybe your panties). These days, your biggest romantic dilemma might be whether to spend your Friday night with your situationship, swipe right on a guy you’re not all that into, or stay home in bed—the most emotionally stable option of all. But like fashion, sex and dating trends change faster than you can say “dirty, distressed jeans.”
Here are some of the hot sex and dating trends in the science world– that could rock yours.
AI CHATBOTS
Let’s talk about him. Not “him” as in your ex. “Him” as in the hot, emotionally available chatbot named Kai who texts you affirmations, remembers your favorite wine, and doesn’t interrupt you mid-story. AI companions have officially gone from Black Mirror nightmare to new normal. There are several female chatbots- because of course there are. But Kai is a brooding male who is flirty, funny, and, best of all, never ghosts you. Plus, you don’t have to shave your legs or decode mixed signals and AI chatbots never make you sit through their 20-minute retelling of a dream. Just plug him in and he’s “thrilled to hear your voice.” Honestly, same.
RENT THE RUNWAY FOR DATING
Meanwhile, human dating has evolved (or devolved?) into the era of perpetual beta relationships. It’s a brilliant tech metaphor applied to dating based on the software concept of “perpetual beta” (where apps stay in testing mode indefinitely). A perpetual beta relationship
would be one that’s always in the “testing phase” - never fully launching into commitment.
Think of it as relationships that are constantly being “updated” and “debugged” but never actually go live. The couple keeps saying they’re “working on things,” “figuring it out,” or “seeing where this goes” indefinitely. There’s always one more feature to test, one more compatibility issue to resolve, one more version to try before they’re ready to commit.
Bumble has leaned into the concept with their “soft launch” feature where you can share a blurry arm of your maybeboyfriend. Hinge added a “vibe check” filter to screen out people who say “let’s see where it goes,” but still sleep with their exes.
RE-WEARING OLD TRENDS IN 2025
And speaking of exes—retrosexuals are trending. Re-dating someone from your past, or as I call it a “Deja Screw,” is suddenly cool. Blame it on the nostalgia economy, or maybe on the fact that everybody’s therapist now says, “Sometimes it was the right person, just the wrong time.” Tell that to my younger self crying at 75 Main in 2009.
Re-dating someone from your past can actually be a surprisingly smart dating strategy, despite what your friends might tell you. Think of it as the relationship equivalent of vintage shopping - good clothing just waiting for the right moment to come back into style.
The biggest advantage is that you’re working with known quantities. Unlike starting fresh with someone new, you already understand each other’s communication styles, quirks, and what makes each other tick. There’s no awkward discovery phase where you find out they hate your favorite food or have completely different ideas about weekend plans.
Psychology studies have shown that giving an ex-relationship a second chance can provide a good opportunity to reassess it - and then you can either move forward or give it the closure it may have needed.
AFTERCARE IS SELF-CARE
Perhaps the most surprising trend of all? Post-sex aftercare is in. After a hookup, there’s now a kind of emotional Uber Eats: heated washcloths, affirmations, and even
co-written “what are we?” texts before either of you have put your clothes back on.
Dating aftercare is the emotional equivalent of a post-workout cooldown - an essential but often overlooked practice that can make or break your dating experience. In this sense, ‘self-care’ doesn’t mean buying a face mask – it literally means ‘to care for one’s self.’ To protect your own mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Which according to many studies is both super hot and critically important. According to experts, whether it’s a great first date or a terrible encounter, dating aftercare involves the intentional steps you take to process the experience and reset your emotional state. This might include debriefing with a trusted friend, journaling about how the date made you feel, or simply giving yourself permission to feel whatever emotions came up without judgment.
WEARABLE TECH TAKES A SEXY TURN
Enter sex tech 2.0. Smart vibrators now track arousal patterns the way fitness trackers count steps, then sync to apps that suggest personalized routines or pelvicfloor exercises. Couples can co-program sensations from opposite sides of the globe, turning long-distance relationships into long-distance laboratories.
The app feature promises to learn your preferences better than you know them yourself. The device sends you gentle reminders when you’ve been neglecting your “self-care routine.” Individualized and personalized pleasure profiles are like a LinkedIn page for orgasms. We’ve moved from a generation that whispered the word “sex” in hushed tones to one that demands their vibrators be Wi-Fi enabled and compatible with their smart home systems.
So there you have it—whether you’re clinging to your dirty jeans or your perpetual beta boyfriend, the message is clear: it’s time for a seasonal refresh. Your heart, like your closet, deserves better than last season’s mistakes taking up space where something beautiful could live instead.

CHANCE ENCOUNTERS
Lights, Cameras, Manhattan!
By Chance Spiessbach
NYC rolled out the red carpet and reaffirmed its place as the global capital of entertainment with the Indie Film Festival. It was a vibrant celebration of independent cinema, diversity, and incredibly creative voices. The festival screened 50 films from 20 countries over four action packed days.
The awards ceremony attracted stars from film, television, fashion, and media, all gathered to honor everyone’s favorite medium of storytelling. Whatever you call it, motion pictures, movies, the “big” screen, films, flicks, one thing is certain, movies are time machines powered by emotion—capable of rewinding the past, fast-forwarding the future, and pausing the present just long enough for everyone to feel something.
At the center of the red-
carpet frenzy was me, Chance Spiessbach of ChanceTV. I love bringing my signature style and insider savvy to the night. Among the night’s most talked-about moments, was my one-on-one headline making interview with Mayor Eric Adams. The mayor agreed with my statement that New York is the new Hollywood.
As the mayor said, “NY is the future of film.
Presenters included such talent as, Emmy winner, producer, director, actor, Amir Arison of Apple TV’s #1 hit Dope Thief. It opened the show by sharing fascinating stories about his incredible career.
Alyson Cambridge, a luminous star whose voice has graced both opera stages and Broadway theaters worldwide was in the house. Alyson has crossed over to TV and is now starring in Bravo’s upcoming series, King’s Court. Her
presence added elegance and a touch of grandeur.
Valerie Greenberg, beloved TV host, lifestyle expert and author of “You’ve Been VALidated”, energized the audience with her incredible passion and charm. No one can take over a room like Valerie. By the end of the night, we were all VALidated.
Tania Rubis, Chief Editor of NY Radio and host of The Rubis Show, brought a stylish edge to the event with her exotic accent and stunning outfit.
Jade Shenker, of Netflix’s Owning Manhattan, who’s known for her talent in the boardroom as well as her
Summer Vacay In The Hamptons
By JTP III
The East End features prominently in the new filmHow I Spent My Summer Vacation, now playing the indie festival circuit. The comingof-age drama from writer/ director Kenneth R. Frank tells the story of Grace, a 13 year-old girl who must come to grips
with her own mortality as her family spends the summer at her grandfather’s house during his illness.
Principal photography included Quogue Village Beach, the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, and East Quogue Elementary School. “The town of Southampton is very
special to me,” Frank said. “My family has been in the area for thirty-five years, and being able to capture this film where so many personal memories have been made is particularly meaningful.”
The film stars Raquel Sciacca as Grace with a supporting cast led by Chris Mollica, Christina Elise Perry, Jerry Colpitts, Paolo Kossi, Ryan Umbarila, and Dawson Sciacca. The original score was composed by singer/ songwriter Kevin Wolfring.
The challenge of making a character-driven family film meant casting across three generations. “We were so fortunate to find such talented young professionals,” Shawna Brandle, the film’s producer, relates. “Getting real-life siblings Raquel and Dawson Sciacca was an unexpected win, and their natural relationship
Adding a touch of global flair and fashion was Albania Rosario, the visionary founder of Fashion Designers of Latin America. FDLA’s purpose is to give a platform to talented but unknown designers.
From full length features to short films, documentaries, and student films, The Indie Film Festival made one thing clear: independent filmmakers are the “lifeblood of the industry.”

and chemistry couldn’t be faked. Ryan Umbarila’s versatility and warmth adds so much texture to the film.
How I Spent My Summer Vacation is the seventh feature film from Rockville Centrebased indie studio-In the Garage Productions and is the second film from the company to partner with Executive Producer Keller Whalen. The film has its world premiere at the Miyakojima International Film Festival in Okinawa, Japan in early July before coming home to play the Long Island International Film Expo at Bellmore Movies. It will then make its European premiere at the Nice International Film Festival in the second half of the month, where it looks to capitalize on its six award nominations.
