The decay of De Wildt

Concerned resident of De Wildt

When driving on the R513 through Pretoria North, Akasia and De Wildt one can hardly miss the decay and poor state of the environment. It is like preaching to the choir when mentioning the poor maintenance of road signs as well as the road in some places. It is clear that very little or no attention is given to most of the important things to show a community’s way of living and support. Long grass and rubbish litter the shoulder all the way to Zilkaatsnek…. and back. Broken and vandalized road signs dot the road on a regular pace. At some junctions there is not even a direction sign. There is even a T-junction to nowhere! Left or right will bring you to another place with no name. The road surface deteriorates and at places the road shoulder leaves one with a fear of heights. Sometimes De Wildt is like the wild wild west. Due to the lack of wild animals, shootist now use road signs to practice their shooting skills. Who’s to blame? No one knows. No one cares.
