Mary Quiggle & Beth Gunther Twice is Nice Resale Shop Managers
Twice is Nice is one of College Church’s resale shops. It is located at the corner of President and Geneva Road in Carol Stream. Our mission is twofold. The first is to provide quality goods to one of DuPage County’s poorest communities, South Carol Stream, at low prices. Second is to provide funds that support the various ministries of the Outreach Community Center (OCC). This year at Twice is Nice has been a year of change. It has been a year of discovery, growth and increasing impact. We have grown physically. The store has been remodeled and expanded. Consequently, we have seen growth in foot traffic and sales. This produced a remarkable year of financial growth. In fact, we were able to triple our donations to OCC! The theme of growth applies to volunteers and the STARS Partner Program as well. The store has increased volunteers by 12 and added four more STARS to the staff. This increase has impacted lives of the STARS by providing meaningful employment. For the volunteers,
Twice is Nice provides community, a place of encouragement and an opportunity to discover the gospel. Twice is Nice also provides opportunities for minor offenders to do courtmandated community service. It is our hope that these men and women will be able to discover the power of the gospel to change their lives during their time with us. As we look back over this year, we believe we have broadened and deepened the impact we have on the community.
“Volunteering will give you an opportunity to walk alongside and get to know people who need to discover Jesus.” It’s exciting to see how God works through the store to impact so many lives. An example of this impact is a customer named Donna. Donna is terminally ill and does not yet know Jesus. She comes to the store regularly to talk with us. She tells us that we are a place she comes to escape and find hope. Pray with us that one day soon she will discover not only a good deal on our shelves, but Jesus Christ who defeated death. She needs the hope only he can provide. So, how can you help us at Twice is Nice? First, volunteer! Volunteering will give you an opportunity to walk alongside and get to know many who need to discover Jesus. Second, we always need quality donations. Remember us the next time you clean your closet or garage. Third, and most importantly, please pray for us as we juggle the many aspects of the store but reach out to the Donnas who visit our store every day. Pray we would grow in our impact on the community and see many discover the power of the gospel.
