Head Usher

As I reflect on my years of participation in the Usher Corps, I can’t think of a verse of Scripture that better captures what this dedicated group of men and women set out weekly to accomplish than Romans 12:13, “ Contribute to the need of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
As your head usher, I am humbled by the weekly sacrifices our Usher Corps makes in its pursuit of service and hospitality. I would like to recognize Ed Simon, assistant head usher, for all he does, not only being primarily responsible for the weekly staffing of more than 35 men and women to serve as your ushers but also his willingness to fill in for absent ushers almost on a weekly basis.
Along with Ed, we rely on other ushers to take on extra weekly responsibility as the crew chief at one of the four Sunday services. The crew chief is the point person for each service and makes sure all the ushers have what they need to assist members and visitors. This group consists of Rick Pflederer, Gary Lange, Robin De- Groot, Jim Reid, Mark Weeden, Doug Johnson, Dave Oster, Dick Albright, Eric Enstrom, Bob Kay, Joey Simon, Scott Killian and Brian Smidesang. Without their dedicated effort, we would not be able to successfully serve and welcome our congregants and visitors each week.
I would love to list and thank each person who is on the Usher Corps but space does not allow for that. Suffice to say, each usher or substitute usher is a critical part of the total Usher Corps, which is now 75 strong. A heartfelt thank you goes out to each of you!
Don’t let the number of ushers cause you to think there is no room for you. We need you to help if you feel ushering is a calling for you. Please reach out to me, Ed Simon, or any of the current ushers, and let us know of your interest. We will find a place for you to... “contribute to the need of the saints and seek to show hospitality.”
