Praise God for his faithfulness, steadfastness and goodness. Praise God for the gift of his Son and his work on the cross, reconciling me to himself and granting forgiveness of my sins and eternal life. Praise God for the gift of the Holy Spirit who lives inside me today and every day until Jesus comes again or calls me home.
If I had written this letter in January or even early February, I would have started it with the words above. That would have been before the novel coronavirus and the COVID-19 disease that it causes. I am writing this letter during the first week in April with hundreds of thousands of cases around the world, and thousands of deaths, and the words above are just as true and God is forever worthy of praise.
How we do church has greatly changed. I am thankful for so many of our support people who work behind the scenes every day of the year to make it possible for us “to do church.” Since we had been livestreaming services for some time, we were able to quickly provide for the higher volume of viewers and other churches that were livestreaming for the first time. Our services are available through our webpage, our Facebook page and even YouTube. We’re learning that livestreamed services have the advantage of no limit to the number of people who can view the service and certainly more than we could ever fit in our building. We are praying for that very thing— that this would be a period when many who don’t already know him would, by “accident,” find our livestreamed services, hear the gospel that Pastor Moody clearly proclaims every Sunday, and be drawn to Christ. Many thanks to Pastors Moody, Channing, Stringer and Dewar and Ruth Gregornik on the piano and so many others behind the cameras making these truly edifying and joyful services. And as ever, one of our Life Safety Team is ever vigilant to protect against an outside intruder’s desire to disrupt worship even in these strange days.

Thank you for your continued faithful giving to support College Church by mailing your check or giving through our webpage. Through your giving, we can continue to support our staff as they continue to do ministry with the participants in their ministries, whether children, students or adults. Through your giving, we can continue to support our missionaries locally and all our mission partners who are impacted by the virus in their various surroundings around the world. Through your giving, we can continue to maintain our buildings and disinfect the areas which are being used. I want to give a special thanks to our accounting team, Deb Carlburg and Cindy Schuerman, who are two of the folks who must be in the building during the week to process your contributions and pay the bills. Likewise, Lorraine Triggs, our receptionist, has been present in the office every day, with all precautions taken, so that callers are greeted warmly and not by a voicemail.
All of us on staff are just like all of you–learning to work from home, staying six feet apart from each other, wearing masks and gloves, and yet continuing to have our hearts knit together through our love for our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Soli Deo Gloria
