A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIR & CEO Despite dealing with the ongoing challenges and disruptions of COVID-19 for an entire financial year, our region saw the smallest percentage decrease of total visitors (domestic and international) of any region in Queensland. We also experienced the second highest percentage growth in intrastate visitors (business, leisure and VRF) within the state in the year ending December 2020 compared to 2019, which complements the strength and diversity of our industries cementing Central Queensland as the economic powerhouse of the state and nation.

Significantly contributing to these results is the nearly $5 billion dollars worth of major infrastructure projects underway in water, roads, defence and construction as well as the amplification of destination marketing thanks to additional Covid recovery funds from the State government via Tourism and Events Queensland. Capricorn Enterprise hosted a record number of Television shows, from live breakfast weather crosses (10 days) to lifestyle shows to food and fishing series. We executed a number of major and minor multi-media campaigns which targeted traditional and new audiences. We advocated for funding for events and new tourism infrastructure. We hosted some 20 business and industry forums, workshops and networking events with over 500 attendees, produced 50 ‘Inside Capricorn’ edms and welcomed an impressive line up of keynote speakers from numerous industries throughout 2020/21.

The team at Capricorn Enterprise forged on in support of our Members and broader community in advocating our work and lifestyle opportunities by launching our Work In Central Queensland.com.au platform in September 2020, followed by our Live Capricorn Coast.com.au platform in April 2021.

The significance of these strategic projects should not be underestimated in their ability to provide a one-stop-shop for new audiences who are considering relocating to our region.

In partnership with our major local government funding partner, Livingstone Shire Council, a successful grant from the Australian Government Bushfire Recovery Fund, allowed us to deliver the Taste Capricorn Coast project which forged connections between producers, restaurants and retailers.

During 2020/21, industry accolades and major events reflected the commitment and passion of our local communities including: > Our wonderful volunteers at the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre received the “Community Group Service Award” at the Livingstone Shire Council’s Australia Day Awards.

After such a difficult year last year, due to COVID shutdowns and restrictions, we have had a much more positive start to 2021. The region has benefited from significant government and industry investment, a booming housing market, a considerable increase in visitors and some amazing events.

It appears that Australians are discovering the benefits of regional Australia and are buying property and visiting regional Queensland in droves.

Central Queensland has stood out as a place that hosts big events very well. The greatest achievement being the Beef Australia event in May this year, which was attended by 115,000 people. What an achievement by all those involved.

We are very fortunate to live in this region where our movement has not been restricted and people can enjoy a relatively normal life.

Many large construction projects accelerated, including the long-awaited Rookwood Weir, major upgrades at Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area, the upgrade to the Capricornia Correctional Centre and major road projects around Rockhampton. There are of course many more diverse projects being undertaken in the region, which demonstrates the confidence investors have in Central Queensland. These investments have several years to completion, so we need to take advantage of this trend and continue planning and developing the next investment opportunities.

Attracting people to regional Queensland is one of our challenges and therefore, Capricorn Enterprise has invested in and launched Work in Central Queensland.com.au and Live Capricorn Coast.com.au. These platforms highlight the benefits and opportunities of living in our region and are designed to attract and assist families to relocate.

The Board of Capricorn Enterprise would like to acknowledge the wonderful work of the staff and volunteers, led by Mary Carroll, who work tirelessly to support members every day and do a great job of promoting our region to the rest of the country. The Board also wishes to acknowledge and thank Neil Lethlean, who retired on 1st July 2021. Neil’s contribution over a period of 11 years has been outstanding and we hope he can enjoy a well-earned retirement.

We look forward to a new year with enthusiasm and a quiet confidence for our region.

> Yeppoon was named Runner Up in the inaugural “Top Tourism Town Awards” hosted by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC). > Rockhampton played host to BEEF21 in May which achieved a record 115,000 visitors over a 20% increased footprint, arguably the largest event in the southern hemisphere during the covid crisis.

BUSINESS EVENTS & COMMUNICATION Over the past 12 months, Capricorn Enterprise has held over 20 member events with over 500 attendees. These events are a great platform for members to become directly involved in key discussions impacting the future of the region.

ADVOCACY Regional Tourism & Economic Development The advocacy efforts of Capricorn Enterprise are critical to the short, medium and long term prosperity of the Capricorn Region.

INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS 2020-21 Research reveals that local infrastructure projects exceeding $4.5 billion were scheduled to commence construction, were in design phases or were underway across the region encompassing Livingstone and Rockhampton Regional Council areas during the 2020-21 year generating unprecedented opportunities for regional business and local workforce.

These projects provide significant opportunities for local business/industry in terms of local content in major infrastructure projects including highways, water, energy renewables and defence.

Capricorn Enterprise has been and will continue to work closely with project proponents and managers including Tier 1 and Defence Prime Groups, plus local business and industry representatives to maximise local participation and content. > Great Keppel Island Resort The 2013 development approvals for the island include a 250 room beach front hotel, 300 luxury apartments, 285 luxury villas, 9,000 sq metres of retail shops and a 250 berth marina. [SEE IMAGE 3,4,& 6] The airstrip also has approval to be extended from the current 800 metres to 1.5 kilometres, to enable direct flights from Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns.

GKI Progress Association formed in Feb 2021 with a public meeting held on the 8th Feb to outline Altum Property Group’s proposal for $30 million state government funding for common user infrastructure over proposed stages of development.

After 18 months of negotiation between Altum Property Group, Tower Holdings, the Department of Tourism and the Department of Natural Resources, on the 21st June 2021, Queensland’s Minister for Resources, Scott Stewart announced that the transfer of the Great Keppel Island resort leases from Tower Holdings to Altum Property Group would not proceed based on the Financial Management Capability Assessment (FMCA). (NB. GKI Resort (Tower Holdings) did not lodge an appeal before the 29 July 2021 deadline) In response, Altum announced that despite this major setback they were still keen to work with State Government to develop a luxury camping experience on Fisherman’s Beach as the first stage of the Great Keppel Island Revitalisation Project.

On 23rd June 2021, Minister for Tourism, Stirling Hinchliffe visited Great Keppel Island with local 12

stakeholders to investigate options for common user infrastructure to improve access and facilities on the island. > Capricorn Intergrated Resort On the 25th May 2021, the Coordinator General stated a new project declaration lapse date of 30th November 2022. > Keppel Bay Sailing Club Convention Centre Capricorn Enterprise played a key role in helping to achieve the $20M federal government funding commitment for the Keppel Bay Sailing Club (KBSC) Convention Centre and Sporting Hub. Works are expected to commence towards the end of 2021. > Stadium On the 15th Sep 2020, the Federal government announced $23Million funding for the Rockhampton Stadium at Victoria Park (following a federally-funded $250,000 feasibility study conducted in 2013/14 by global stadium design experts, Populous). A 16,000 seat stadium and 1000 seat conference room is planned and expected to commence by 2022. [SEE IMAGE 5] As a key Priority Initiative for the region since 2010, ten potential sites were highlighted by the CQ NRL Bid Team for investigation by Populous, with constraints and risks taken into consideration. These sites included Yeppoon, Parkhurst, Central Queensland University, Jardine Park, Kershaw Gardens, Lakes Creek Road, Aurizon CBD Site, Rosel Park, Browne Park, Rockhampton CBD and the Showgrounds Precinct.

On the 24th Sep 2020, the State government announced $25Million to deliver Stage 1 redevelopment of the Browne Park Stadium, Rockhampton, to increase seating capacity to around 4,300. > Regional Australia Institute (RAI) – Regional Activators Alliance Capricorn Enterprise is one of 45 Organisations/LGAs in Australia which contributes to the “Regional Activators Alliance”, a collaboration to ensure our region is included in the $5 Million two year national campaign Move to More, co-ordinated by the RAI. [SEE IMAGE 1] A strong CQ contingency amongst 300 delegates attended the Regions Rising conference in Canberra in March 2021, at which the campaign was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister. [SEE IMAGE 2] 9 million people live in Regional Australia, out of a national population of 25.5 million, so our collective advocacy for regional Australia and more specifically Queensland is critical.

MAJOR PROJECTS Regional Economic Development Whilst commitments have been made in respect to local industry participation on many of these major projects (ranging from 65% up to 80% local content), Capricorn Enterprise’s overall challenge is ensuring that industry are suitably qualified and demonstrate a competitive edge. Opportunities for local industry are at the forefront of Capricorn Enterprise’s strategy to maximise local industry participation and content.

ROOKWOOD WEIR The construction of the $352M Rookwood Weir project is funded equally by the Federal and State Governments. Project timeline: • Thirsty Creek Road upgrade – June 2020 (complete) • Capricorn Highway Intersection and Second Street and Third Street upgrade, Gogango – August 2020 (complete) • New Riverslea Bridge and road upgrade mid-2021 • Rookwood Weir, construction commenced with early works in October-November 2020 and in-river and main construction works commenced in April 2021.

Capricorn Enterprise has continued to work with the project proponents to inform the region of the opportunities presented by this project. At the 29th October 2020 Major Projects Forum, Hamish Smith (Rookwood Weir Support Services Manager, SunWater) provided an update on the Rookwood Weir and its opportunities. Rookwood Weir Project–Industry Briefing hosted by Sunwater/Acciona conducted on November 12 with approximately 80 industry representatives in attendance. [SEE IMAGE 4 & 5] CLARKE CREEK WIND FARM (Goldwind Australia/Lacour) Lacour Energy and Goldwind Australia are developing the Clarke Creek Wind and Solar Farm project located 150 km north west of Rockhampton and 150 south of Mackay in the Isaac and Livingstone Shire areas.

When completed the Clarke Creek Wind Farm will be the largest wind farm project in the southern hemisphere; project investment around $1.5 billion; incorporating up to 185 wind turbines; powering 600,000 Qld homes (4% of Qld electricity supply); construction to commence 2021 and completed by 2024; jobs estimated at between 300-350 during construction phase and creating 20 FTE during operation.

CAPRICORN CORRECTIONAL CENTRE EXPANSION PROJECT (CPB Managing Contractors) This $200 million project was completed in April/May 2020. Further refurbishment of the original section of the Centre commenced July 2020 and is reportedly an 18 month project. [SEE IMAGE 1] The project created 172 construction jobs across four years presenting ongoing opportunities for local suppliers across the Central Queensland region.

DEFENCE – INDUSTRY LIAISON Capricorn Enterprise continues to liaise with the defence industry and major project proponents for the Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area and the AustraliaSingapore Military Training Initiatives Facilities Project to ensure local businesses and industry maximise their opportunities to be involved. [SEE IMAGE 3] > Defence Industry Briefings conducted online in October 2020 and March 2021.

REGIONAL HIGHWAY PROJECTS > Bruce Highway – Northern Access Upgrade – duplication of approximately 4.9km between Yeppoon Road intersection and Terranova Drive ($121M). Liaising with Project Managers McIlwain/SGQ JV. Completion expected late 2021. > Rockhampton to Gracemere Duplication – duplication of the Capricorn Highway ($75M) between the Yeppen Roundabout and O’Shanesy Street, Gracemere. Liaison with managing contractors Fulton Hogan/SMEC. Completed mid 2021. > Yeppoon to Rockhampton road upgrade - $64 committed by the Federal Government and $16 million by the State Government. Development of the detailed design commenced February 2021 with this phase to be completed late 2021.

ROCKHAMPTON RING ROAD This $1 billion project is fully funded with $800M Federal government and $200M State government funding. Planning for the Ring Road is complete and the project is currently in the detailed design phase with public information sessions held from May until June 2021. [SEE IMAGE 2]

2020 FORUM | Capricorn Major Projects Forum The 2020 Capricorn Enterprise Annual Major Projects Forum, held Thursday 29th October 2020, is the premier project forum in the region highlighting projects - 11 speakers/topics and 150 attendees (numbers limited due to COVID-19). [SEE IMAGE 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6] With over $4.5 billion to be invested in the local area over the ensuing five years, 2020’s Forum highlighted the extent of many of these projects, their timelines for delivery and importantly how regional business and industry groups can engage.

LIVINGSTONE SHIRE COUNCIL Engagement with LSC Strategic Growth Team and Consultants on projects including: Gibb Group re Homemakers Centre. [SEE IMAGE 1] CQUNIVERSITY > Alternative Trade Skills Pathway Program Advisory Committee. Meetings 24th July, 6 August, 16th September 2020 (Zoom) > Rockhampton Regional Engagement Committee 23 September, 25 November 2020, 3 March, 21 April, 16 June 2021 (Zoom) STANWELL CORPORATION Use of Coal Cumbustion Products (CCP) Stanwell ADAA Follow up event – 22nd July 2020 Zoom, 4th August 2020 online, 19th August, 28th October Zoom The initial Technical Tour of the Stanwell Power Station and workshop led to additional communication with Project leaders and local industry in 2020. CCPs – common known as “fly ash” and “furnace bottom ash” – are by-products, inert solid materials produced when coal is burned to generate electricity. The 12 million tonnes of CCPs generated annually should be viewed as mineral resources which can be used in traditional construction applications including concrete, roads and soil amendment. Incorporating CCPs have been proven to out-perform products made without it. Using CCPs conserves finite natural resources, saves energy and reduces associated carbon emissions contributing towards an efficient circular economy. (ADAA CEO Craig Heidrich) A Stanwell Project was developed to demonstrate the benefits of high utilisation of CCPs in road repairs.

Involving local contractors JRT, Butler Partners, DTMR and ARRB, the road repair project was conceived in 2019 completed in early 2020, concluding with an independent engineering study by Arcadis. Via this study, a set of technical reports, technical advisories and engineering reports were produced that demonstrated the excellent construction and engineering properties of CCPs. Further work is being undertaken to translate the data to technical specifications and tender design documents for use as inputs to DTMR and local road authorities in major regional projects (e.g.

Rockhampton Ring Road project commencing in 2022).

QUEENSLAND LOCAL CONTENT LEADERS NETWORK(QLCLN) The network provides the opportunity for experienced individuals from economic development organisations, local government and industry groups to share best practice initiatives on local content, industry participation, procurement and purchasing and regional development.

The QLCLN has developed a position paper which includes the six-tiered model of procurement where the priority is on the immediate local or natural economic zone of a region.

CONSTRUCTION SKILLS QUEENSLAND PARTNERSHIP Industry Skills Coordination Programs 2019/20 & 2020/21 CSQ is an independent industry-funded body supporting employers, workers, apprentices and career seekers in the building and construction industry.

Capricorn Enterprise worked with CSQ as Industry Skills Co-ordination to address the potential shortfall in construction workers in the region as a consequence of the major projects underway and coming online in the region. The Constructions Skills Industry Skills Co-ordination Project was finalised October 2020.

CSQ provided funding for Workshops for Construction industry personnel, starting December 2020. A series of three workshops were delivered to further develop the business skills of the construction industry. Workshops were very highly regarded by attendees. Available data included: Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS): Census data is available for suburbs, local government areas, regions, states and commonwealth while other statistical data is also available for different areas. Produced tables comparing areas. The ABS released additional information to better understand the impacts of the coronavirus.

Regional profiles: Produced detailed profiles for customised areas using the Queensland Government Statistician’s Office (QGSO) portal. Profiles included comparison areas to inform project work, grant applications and community organisations.

Regional database: Produced specific data tables for Statistical areas within Queensland. The QGSO database provides data from various sources including the ABS, Rental Tenancy Authority, Department of Natural Resources and more.

TOURISM MARKETING | Consumer In the wake of COVID-19, 2020/21 has been a turbulent period for the tourism industry in Queensland. On a positive note, the Capricorn region saw the smallest percentage decrease of total visitors of any region in Queensland.

VISITATION OVERVIEW Our region received the second highest percentage growth in intrastate visitors (business, leisure and VFR) within Queensland in the year ending December 2020 compared to 2019 (Source: Tourism Research Australia) Our region saw the smallest percentage decrease of total visitors (i.e. domestic and international) in Queensland due to Covid In the year ending December 2020 compared to 2019.

MARKETING COLLATERAL We produced a range of quality printed marketing brochures and maps, and ensured they were broadly distributed locally and nationally at key locations including accredited Visitor Information Centres in Queensland, through travel and trade shows, as well as being available electronically on www.visitcapricorn. com.au.

ELECTRONIC DIRECT MAIL (EDM) Since 1st July 2020, a total of 6 direct electronic emails have been sent to a growing database. With campaigns aiming to promote sign ups to the email database, the number of people subscribed has grown over the past 12 months to 8,261. The newsletter content focuses on local/insider tips for holidays, as well as operator deals.

WEBSITES VisitCapricorn.com.au continues to be a highly effective foundation for all marketing efforts. A significant part of our weekly marketing activities is to ensure the Capricorn region tourism product and destination information is up to date and ‘on point’. Using Google Analytics to drill down into what consumers are searching for, we regularly update content creation with the support of commissioned bloggers, content creators and travel writers.

In addition, our corporate site has received nearly 30,000 unique visits throughout 2020/21.

AUSTRALIAN TOURISM DATA WAREHOUSE (ATDW) In response to the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis facing the state's tourism and events industry, Tourism and Events Queensland, in partnership with Capricorn Enterprise, is currently offering ATDW membership with no annual fee, providing a saving of $150 per year.

Capricorn Enterprise offers ongoing support to members requiring assistance with their ATDW listings and also manage more than 60 landmark, attraction and journey listings, on behalf of the region.

BILLBOARDS With the support of additional COVID-19 recovery funds from Tourism and Events Queensland, Capricorn Enterprise contracted an additional 4 roadside billboards, to complement the existing 3 billboards.

Capturing the drive market on the Pacific Coast Touring Route and encouraging consumers to stay in our destination longer is a key strategy to drive overnight visitor expenditure. [SEE IMAGE 2,3,4,5]

The inaugural Top Tourism Town Awards, hosted by Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) saw a total of 37 finalists from across the state competing for the top award. [SEE IMAGE 4]

The Top Tourism Town announcement was made in Brisbane on Thursday 20 May 2021. Yeppoon was named runner up for the Top Tourism Town Award with Noosa winning the top prize in Queensland Tourism Industry Council's inaugural Awards.

Our Southern Great Barrier Reef neighbours, Agnes Water/1770, were winners in the Top Small Tourism Town category, with Airlie Beach the runner up. Out of the 37 nominations across Queensland, five towns including Yeppoon, Rockhampton, Mount Morgan, Agnes Water/1770 and Bundaberg were from our Southern Great Barrier Reef destination with two receiving placements.

Nominations for the Top Tourism Town needed to be received from the owners/managers of Accredited Visitor Information Centres.

The judges vote made up 30% of the selection process and the remaining 70% of judging was formulated from consumer voting.

2021 CAPRICORN DESTINATION VIDEO Showcasing our natural wonders, hidden gems, family fun, culinary delights, reef and islands experiences, popular influencers – The Feel Good Family – created a new destination video traversing our Tropic of Capricorn. Cath Stubenrauch and Sharon Scott from the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre represented the Capricorn region and spoke to thousands of interested holiday makers who had our destination on their bucket list.

Saturday and Sunday saw the busiest days for the show with more than 500 people making the time to discover more about where our exciting roads lead from the Keppel Islands to the Central Queensland Highlands.

Instagram family, 4 Boys and a Caravan, were commissioned to write this article about their experiences on Great Keppel Island. [SEE IMAGE 5] > RACQ Living Capricorn Enterprise commissioned a dedicated email with 100% dedicated content for the Capricorn Region.

Basing themselves at Salt Apartments in Yeppoon, House Hunters International spent time with local business representatives from the award-winning Waterline Restaurant at Keppel Bay Marina and Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary, along with discovering our iconic attractions including Yeppoon Lagoon, Keppel Kraken, Appleton Park and Byfield National Park. [SEE IMAGE 1] > Channel 7 Creek to Coast headed to the Sandstone Wilderness in July 2020 to give viewers a taste of the beautiful Carnarvon Gorge. Sponsored by Sunseeker Caravans, the crew worked alongside Sandstone Park, Australian Nature Guides and Takarakka Bush Resort. > The Channel 9 Today Show’s Weather team with Tim Davies provided live weather crosses from across the Capricorn region in September 2020, January and February 2021 (featuring Yeppoon, Byfield, Great Keppel Island, Emu Park, Mount Morgan, Rockhampton, Capricorn Caves, Henderson Park Farm Retreat, Pumpkin Island). The public relations value (PRV) of this national coverage is between $30K and $35K per minute, with each day approx. 18 minutes of airtime. As we have hosted 10 days, this equates to $630,000 per day and $6.3 Million of publicity for our destination!

TOURISM MARKETING CAMPAIGNS | Consumer The 2020/21 year saw Capricorn Enterprise roll out some of the largest and most innovative tourism campaigns in our 11 year history. These campaigns have been a critical asset in attracting new leisure markets to the destination.

2020/21 SUMMER CAMPAIGN (NOV - FEB) Capricorn Coast User Generated Content (UGC) Campaign > This campaign aimed to embrace UGC content that allows visitors to see the beauty of this destination through the eyes of other travellers.

Target Market: Families (Primary), DINKS - Double Income No Kids (Secondary) Target Region: Central Queensland, Wide Bay & Sunshine Coast • Television Advertising • Targeted Online Marketing (featuring the TVC and member packages) has appeared across numerous platforms (inc. Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, Google, Spotify and more).

• Email Marketing Campaign (EDM) sent directly to over 6,000 subscribers > Junior Ambassador Campaign - Own Harris As part of the 2020/21 Summer Campaign, Capricorn Enterprise commissioned 6-year-old local, Owen Harris, to create promotional videos about exploring Capricorn from a kid’s perspective. The 6-series promotion was launched on social media channels during February 2021. The videos were promoted to Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast & Brisbane.

Filming took place in the following locations: Great Keppel Island, Capricorn Caves, Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary, Mt Hay Gemstone Tourist Park, Nurim Circuit Eleveated Boardwalk Mount Archer National Park, CQ River Cruises, Yeppoon Lagoon. [SEE IMAGE 2] The videos had 119,700 views in total on Facebook and another 3273 on Instagram (122,973 total views). > Facebook 'Win a Holiday' Campaign In March, Capricorn Enterprise commissioned Tourism & Events Queensland’s media agency, IMATE to conduct a Facebook campaign to drive sign-ups to the Visit Capricorn Leisure EDM. The campaign had a total reach on Facebook of 106,814 and 5, 207 link clicks. We received just over 2,000 sign-ups to our EDM as a result.

2021 WINTER CAMPAIGN (MAY - JUNE) 'Dreaming of a New Destination' Campaign Capricorn Enterprise commissioned local SGBR videographer, Stuart McKay, to create the Capricorn Region 2021 Winter Destination Campaign.

This was our largest campaign on record and showcases the epic natural landscapes and wide-open spaces from the Central Queensland Highlands to the Keppel Islands.

Pedestrian TV was commissioned to write a native content article with an estimated 10,000 page views and supported with custom digital ads.

TOURISM TRADE & PARTNERSHIPS Despite the impacts of COVID-19 and the restrictions around international travel, both domestic and international tourism trade continue to be key marketing partners, in preparation for the re-opening of international borders.

The United Kingdom, Germany, New Zealand, USA, France and the Nordic region make up our region’s top 6 international source markets for the Southern Great Barrier Reef destination and our Capricorn region.

TRADE EVENTS & TRAINING > 2021 Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) The 2020 Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) was cancelled due to COVID, however in 2021, the tourism industry was ready and raring to meet and do business with travel wholesalers and agents from around Australia and the world. The annual event, delivered

by Tourism Australia, involved a hybrid format which brought together both face-to-face and virtual components to ensure the tourism industry could meet, exchange knowledge, and establish important business connections. [SEE IMAGE 2 & 4] Capricorn Enterprise attended 45 in-person and 45 online appointments on behalf of the Capricorn SGBR region and have reported exceptional reception of our region’s product offerings.

Individual local operators including Oshen Yeppoon, Great Keppel Island Hideaway/Keppel Konnections, Pumpkin Island, Empire/Edge Apartment Hotels were also in attendance, together with our SGBR colleagues from Gladstone and Bundaberg, making our larger destination brand extremely well represented. > Tourism Australia Marketplace Europe/UK 2021 Capricorn Enterprise participated in 30 quality appointments with key Europe and UK tourism trade partners held over three mornings/nights from 6am to 10am and 6pm to 10pm daily.

Australia Marketplace Online – UK & Europe was the virtual solution for Tourism Australia’s physical Australia Marketplace UK & Europe event, which provided an opportunity for representatives from the Australian tourism industry to establish and maintain business relationships with key qualified travel agencies and tour operators from across UK & Europe.

The event was an impressive fully virtual and interactive exhibition and networking experience which allowed buyers to browse a virtual exhibition of Australian sellers as well as conduct 1:1 business appointments of 10 minutes each. [SEE IMAGE 5]

> Queensland Tourism Xchange USA Capricorn Enterprise represented the SGBR destination at TEQ's Queensland Tourism Exchange USA in August 2020. Virtual meetings were conducted with approximately 60 international trade representatives from the USA. Due to the time difference, meeting started at 5.40am and concluded at 9.00am. > Trade Travel Expo Capricorn Enterprise was thrilled to showcase the highlights of our diverse destination at the Trade Travel Expo, held in Sydney in June. [SEE IMAGE 1 & 3] The Capricorn Coast destination was presented to over 100 Probus South Pacific delegates, enticing them to plan their next holiday in our region, planning their itineraries to encompass the Capricorn Coast, Yeppoon, Emu Park, Byfield, Rockhampton, Great Keppel Island and Southern Great Barrier Reef.

From accommodation, experiences, tours and culinary delights, attendees enjoyed hearing about our destination and we look forward to welcoming them to our region in the future.

TOURISM & EVENTS QUEENSLAND (TEQ) CEO Leanne Coddington and Acting Group Executive Partnerships, Therese Phillips, visited our destination in July 2020, with Leanne experiencing the Capricorn Caves, Pumpkin Island and Great Keppel Island for the very first time! As part of a whirlwind road trip around this great state, Leanne and her husband drove from Longreach to Emerald, catching up with our Central Highlands’ colleagues at lunch, before traversing the Tropic of Capricorn, detouring through historic Mount Morgan.

A small industry dinner was enjoyed at Headricks Lane and after an overnight stay at Empire Apartment Hotel, an early morning visit to the Capricorn Caves, was followed by an afternoon onboard Freedom Fast Cats Wild duck to Pumpkin Island and Great Keppel Island, followed by another small industry dinner at Vue Wine Bar and Restaurant.

KEPPEL TURTLE FUND Capricorn Enterprise has been successful in obtaining $30,000 to assist the Keppel Turtle Fund in constructing 15 sculptures for the “Great Keppel Island Marine Environmental Awareness/Education Trail” thanks to the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery grants program, an Australian Government bushfire recovery initiative.

TEQ EXPERIENCE DESIGN WORKSHOP TEQ in partnership with Capricorn Enterprise and Success Matrix delivered the first pilot program for 8 Capricorn operators. [SEE IMAGE 7 & 8] SGBR LEADERS DINNER & FAMIL In November 2020 an industry led networking event was hosted by Capricorn Enterprise, Gladstone Area Promotion & Development, and Bundaberg Tourism in Agnes Water to continue to connect and build on the existing SGBR operator relationships. [SEE IMAGE 1] BEST OF QUEENSLAND In 2021, the Capricorn region received a total of 116 operators eligible for BOQ compared with 83 operators eligible in 2019/20 (28.5% increase) with 68 operators receiving BOQ status in 2021 compared with 52 operators in 2019/20 (23.6% increase).

The Best of Queensland Experiences Program report is provided by Tourism and Events Queensland for free to all Queensland operators listed on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse. The report provides valuable ReviewPro insights on consumer perceptions of Tourism operator experiences and is valued at over $1,000. It also allows operators to benchmark their performance relative to the destination and Queensland.

SPECIAL PROJECTS & INITIATIVES In 2020/21 Capricorn Enterprise project managed the creation of 2 significant web platforms targeting relocation and livability. The region has also embraced the Year of Indigenous Tourism by providing Cultural Awareness training.

WORK IN CENTRAL QUEENSLAND PORTAL In September 2020, Capricorn Enterprise launched the ‘Work in Central Queensland’ platform.

The industry platform, which was identified as a requirement by the Central Queensland Major Project Workforce Alliance (CQMPWA) (a strong collaboration with Construction Skills Queensland and our major project proponents), is positioned to be a valuable commodity for local employment markets, spanning from the mining sector to agriculture, infrastructure, defence, tourism and hospitality, together with big business and research in major towns.

Developed in partnership with Australian-based developer, uWorkin, the online and mobile solution will benefit a myriad of people from job seekers, employment-focused community groups, training organisations, councils, employers of all sizes together with many other groups. ‘Work in Central Queensland’ will deliver smart matching of interested talent, strong communities, and localization of jobs, skills, talent, and capital.

LIVE CAPRICORN COAST WEBSITE Making the move to the Capricorn Coast destination to work, live and play has now been made even easier with the launch of Capricorn Enterprise's new one-stop digital platform reflecting the extensive and diverse lifestyle offerings available from the coast to the city.

Live Capricorn Coast – livecapricorncoast.com.au, was months in the making and integrates our workincentralqueensland.com.au platform. The site showcases the unique factors which make the Capricorn Coast (incorporating the Rockhampton region) a destination of choice. For more information visit www.livecapricorncoast.com.au [SEE IMAGE 2] YEAR OF INDIGENOUS TOURISM Supported by a $10 million commitment from the Queensland Government to create tourism jobs for Indigenous Queenslanders and to position the state as the nation’s leader in Indigenous tourism, the Premier announced that the Year of Indigenous Tourism would continue into 2021.

Funding was provided to the Regional Tourism Organisations via Tourism and Events Queensland to support this initiative.

> Cultural Awareness Training Capricorn Enterprise partnered with Darumbal Enterprises Ltd to provide Cultural Awareness Training to local non-indigenous tourism businesses. The aim of this project was to develop cultural awareness and relationship building between non-indigenous tourism businesses and local custodians, empowering the future growth of indigenous tourism experiences within the Capricorn region. Topics included history of the Darumbal Country, past and current Darumbal cultural practices, Darumbal life before European contact, language and storytelling, healing practices, Native Title and cultural heritage, and much more. [SEE IMAGE 1,3,4, & 5] > Woorabinda Art Gallery opening The official opening of ‘stage one’ of the Woorabinda Arts + Cultural Centre in Duaringa, halfway between Rockhampton and Emerald.

This incredible project is thanks to a partnership between BMA and Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council and has been supported by the Central Queensland Regional Arts Services Network and CQUniversity.

During 20/21, the Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council Works Manager liaised with local contractors to complete ‘stage one’ of the WACC building refurbishments which has transformed the old Duaringa CWA Hall to its new exciting life. Future stages of the Woorabinda Arts & Cultural Centre will include a café onsite and Gallery Shop. [SEE IMAGE 6] $800,000 FUNDING FOR CAPRICORN DINOSAUR PARK – COOBERRIE PARK WILDLIFE SANCTUARY To help stimulate the tourism industry in 2020, the State government announced a $25 million Growing Tourism Infrastructure Fund for Queensland.

Capricorn Enterprise encouraged and assisted Cooberrie Park to submit an expression of interest (EOI) for their “Capricorn Dinosaur Park” project, which was one of only 52 invited to proceed to a full business case, out of 272 EOI’s submitted.

Prue Saxby from Indigo Gold was engaged to assist and thanks to additional advocacy by Capricorn Enterprise, the project received nearly $800,000 funding in September 2020 and is expected to be completed by September 2021.

EVENT SUPPORT Part of Capricorn Enterprise's role is to promote existing events as well as encourage and support the development of new events in the region. 2020/21 also saw the launch of a new Events Hub - 'What's On in Central Queensand'.

GENERAL EVENT SUPPORT • Events are promoted via our digital and social media platforms, letters of support provided for all funding applications, as well as provision of in-kind support via marketing advice and grant application guidance.

• Usage of the EVERI event feed platform (this platform provides an aggregate of events loaded on various other online platforms and provides one single source for all events in the region). A new and improved event platform was launched in February 2021. With over 100 sources fed into the ‘What’s On’ page through the Everi event platform, the site offers a comprehensive search function, where you can find upcoming sporting, music, markets, performing arts, health and wellbeing, food and wine events, along with fishing competitions, art workshops and activities for the kids… and the list goes on. [SEE IMAGE 1] • All Major Events are included in the SGBR Destination Guide and Capricorn Coast Visitor Guide (print and online).

• Full regional calendar of events is promoted in weekly enews, and available on website.

QLD DESTINATION EVENTS PROGRAM (QDEP) Capricorn Enterprise provides detailed review of and support of applications submitted by all event organisers to TEQ. Round 18 saw $34,500 awarded to two eligible events across Yeppoon and Rockhampton: • Yeppoon Running Festival $14,500 [SEE IMAGE 5] • Fitzroy River Barra Bash $20,000 [SEE IMAGE 6] > Significant QDEP (3 year funding) • CQUniversity Village Festival – until 2022 • Gemfest Festival of Gems - until 2021 BEEF2021 | BEEF AUSTRALIA With reports from Beef Australia stating that more than 115,000 people passed through the gates for the May 2021 event and 63 tonnes (2 semi-trailers) of beef being consumed, BEEF 2021 was hailed as the biggest and best to date, and has well and truly secured Rockhampton a place on the map.

As the community continues to buzz from the excitement of this spectacular world-class event, the cogs are already in motion for the return of BEEF 2024 in another three years.

• The venue featured a 20% larger footprint than ever before • Approximately 11,000 people used the new Park and Ride service • 4,980 head of cattle were entered across three competitions including carcase, commercial and stud • There were 78 ticketed events (with many more provided free of charge) • 63 tonnes of beef consumed throughout the week • 800 contractors and staff delivered the event • 150 Beef Australia Volunteers supported the event with countless others working at the event for other organisations • The Prime Minister and Premier attended – along with 39 State and Federal Ministers • 5 x Episodes of Beef TV were delivered • Four Principal Partners and 82 private sector partners (who contributed $2.8 million) supported the event and beef industry with just under $8 million • Over 200 accredited journalists attended and reported on the event to a national and international audience • Beef Australia proudly engaged and showcased local business where possible Capricorn Enterprise were proactive in ensuring brochures were displayed at entry points to Beef 2021 and staff also distributed amongst exhibitors to display on their tables. Key locations around Rockhampton were also targeted (ie. Mavericks, Georges, Horseland, service stations etc) in addition to the regular drop off points at all accommodation, airport car hire counters, attractions.

TASTE CAPRICORN COAST | PROJECT IN THE SPOTLIGHT 2020/21 saw the development of a new mouth-watering food venture, with the support of the Australian Government’s Bushfire Recovery initiative supporting the region in response to the devastating 2019 summer bushfires by funding the development of Taste Capricorn Coast (Capricorn Coast Food Trail).

Capricorn Enterprise, in partnership with Livingstone Shire Council collaborated to discover the genuine taste of the Capricorn Coast, forging connections with grassroots local businesses including producers, restaurants and retailers.

Featuring a bright new website, which incorporates maps, brochures, recipes and profiles of the 46 local businesses currently involved, Taste Capricorn Coast will encourage visitors and local residents to tour, explore, and stay longer in the region, providing opportunities to undertake farm tours, visit farm gate stalls, markets, cafes and restaurants, sample the produce and be educated in the nutritional, economic and taste benefits of consuming fresh produce.

Taste Capricorn Coast was officially launched on 5 July 2021.
