Take your workouts to the next level and join the fun with the GroupX Studio at the JCC. Our group exercise classes are innovative, inspiring, and challenging. Whether you are new to exercise or a seasoned fitness enthusiast, there is a class at the JCC for you! Varied class options are offered weekly including: Yoga, Pilates, Barre, High Fitness, Zumba®, Spin, and more – all taught by Calgary’s top instructors. We also offer exclusive experiences for those new to exercise or are active older adults. Cardio Tabata. A fierce interval class of high intensity cardio alternating with intervals of weights and core, improving your overall fitness. If you want variety and good music, this is your class! HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Take your fitness to the next level. Various portable equipment is used in this explosive full body workout. HIIT boosts metabolism and improves aerobic and anaerobic fitness. Power Hour. Warm up with boxing combinations of jabs, crosses, uppercuts, and hooks. Ramp up your heart rate with some plyometrics such as burpees and jumping jacks. Targeted core exercises end this fun and powerful class. BODY & MIND Barre. Ballet-based fitness with weight intervals and core conditioning. This class will lengthen, strengthen, and tone your thighs, arms, abdominals, and glutes. For all levels. Buti Yoga. This calorie-scorching workout fuses power yoga with cardio-intensive tribal dance and body sculpting primal movement. The result: long, lean muscles and a super fit body! Gentle Yoga. Designed for adults of any age, including seniors and those with minor physical ailments who prefer a slower paced or more relaxed practice. Includes beginning yoga postures and principles of body alignment and breath awareness. Modifications are provided to ensure that poses are accessible for anyone with tight hips, cranky knees, or other minor limitations. All levels are welcome, including those who are new to yoga.
