ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

I attended Thomas Carr Community High School, where I excelled at basketball. However, the school closed at the end of the 2020 school year. I had a buddy who played basketball at a school called Covenant Christian high school, and because of the pandemic (large classroom and fewer students), my family and I chose this school for my senior year. I decided to play football which I hadn't played since my freshman year. Our football team finished a perfect 15-0, winning the state championship 41-10, and I was selected the Overall and Offensive Player of the Game. I carried the football 33 times, gaining a season-high 236 yards. Next up was basketball season, and our team had a great year during the regular season. We entered the playoffs 22-4 and cruise to two easy victories before winning a three-overtime thriller. That's when things fell apart. Our team came out a little flat, and we never recovered. We would lose our fifth game and get knocked out of the playoffs in the semistate round. All in all, an outstanding senior season while maintaining a 2.9-grade point average.
