Perserverence

This past year has looked different and been challenging as we learned to maneuver through our “new normal” part of that navigation has taught us perseverance. We have all learned that motivation has to come from within, and we have had to find new reasons and ways to stay motivated. We must use grit to get through challenging and difficult times. The world is ever-changing, and we have to prepare daily for the new obstacles that come our way. To do this, we must diligently seek ways to overcome daily challenges against us. The word perseverance is often thrown around, but what does the word indeed mean?

Perseverance is the ability to do something despite the difficulty of obtaining success. A student must move forward even when things seem challenging and complex. May is the month that we focus on mental health and staying healthy. A big part of staying mentally healthy is going forth even when situations appear unbearable or unattainable. To have a healthy mindset, we must also know when things are getting too challenging and recognize that we might need support to persevere through some challenges. I encourage each of you to focus on the characteristic of perseverance and cultivate it daily. If you genuinely want to be successful in life, you must start to develop this trait now. You can challenge yourself daily through schoolwork, sports, and even in relationships. You must realize that when things get hard or feel difficult, that is not the time to quit, but a time to refocus, regroup, and pull hold to the grit that is within us all.
