Outline Together with one or more Showcase Directors, you will research and select suitable showcase scenes for yourself and other students. You will rehearse the selected scene and perform it as part of a showcase presentation in a central London venue for an invited audience of professional directors, agents and casting directors. You will also be given guidance as to how to market yourself towards the industry. What will I be expected to achieve? On successful completion of the module you will be expected to be able to: Skills • use your learning within an integrated practice to create a fully-embodied interpretation of role • perform with professional confidence and creativity in front of potential employers Knowledge and understanding • demonstrate an understanding of and accordance to the professional expectations asked of you • demonstrate a clear understanding of your professional ‘offer’ in the market place Values and Attitudes • work with trust, generosity, openness and resilience as a collaborative performer within an inclusive ensemble • value the working environment as a professional space in which you may work playfully and freely to take creative risks • demonstrate autonomy within process so that you may apply yourself independently to explore creativity, rigour, adaptability and specificity within your work How will I learn? A group selection process of material will give way to individual scene pair / group rehearsals with your director. You may have input from other practitioners in order for you to experience a breadth of direction to draw from. This process is also supported by the Voice department. This will culminate in an open dress rehearsal at ArtsEd and finally a performance in a central London venue. How will I be assessed? The mark for ‘Showcase’ is divided between process and performance. 50% of the mark is a formative assessment awarded by your director according to how you 72
