Outline

This module provides you with the opportunity to reflect on your personal development as you progress through the programme. One of the essential aspects of optimal development within a 1-year programme is your ability to personally reflect and assess your progress, enabling you to strategise how to maximise your potential within the course. This can be achieved through your regular reflection within your ‘The Actor’s Journal’, an informal space for you to take notes and appraise your engagement with the work on the course. You may be required to use some of these reflections within your Critical Appraisal, a more formal interrogation and assessment of aspects of your process.

What will I be expected to achieve?

On successful completion of the module you will be expected to be able to: Skills • independently research, reflect and analyse your personal creative process in relationship to your training experience • analyse and critically reflect on your personal development in relation to the wider field of creative practice, methodology, training and performance • develop concrete personal strategies that can be directly applied to your continued development

Knowledge and understanding • demonstrate understanding of the connections across the breadth of your practice to reflect on patterns (or otherwise) within your training • develop your knowledge of and critical facility towards other practitioners within training and performance

Values and Attitudes • distinguish between the subjective nature of the learning and formulate an objective understanding of your training process • work towards a development of understanding of your (and others’) practice which is self-compassionate and non-judgmental

How will I be assessed?

Details of the assessment methods for each unit of this module are given within each relevant section. The cumulative marks of each unit form the total mark for ‘Reflection’ which forms 10% of the final mark for the MA.
