Congratulations to our 8th graders! Graduation for the 8th grade class was celebrated in a different format this year, “drive-thru”style. On June 2nd, the 122 graduates and their families were offered a four hour window in which they could come to the middle school parking lot to pick up their diploma and other awards that normally would have been recognized at a traditional ceremony. As students arrived, Mrs. Sara Meyer announced their name over a speaker system, their driver then proceeded down the front lot with teachers and staff cheering for the student as they passed. Deacon Ray DuBois (System President), Mrs. Sara Meyer (XMS Associate Principal), Mr. Robert Bires (XMS Principal), and the eighth grade teachers were at the end of the drive to greet each student.
Grandparents and other family members parked across the street and sat in chairs, holding balloons, waiting for their grad to drive by. 40

The middle school staff powered through the record high temperature (95 degrees) to honor the students.
