Back-to-Back State Champs!
Girls Hockey: Congrats to the Fox Cities Stars girls who are repeat WIAA Division 2 State Champions! Xavier seniors Alaina Schauf ‘20 and Maddy Meyer ’20 played on the co-op team which consists of 16 area high schools. The Stars beat top-seeded Middleton co-op 5-3. The team also received the girls' hockey 2020 WIAA winter State Tournament Sportsmanship Award.

Wrestling: The Hawks had the largest team ever. Jacob Earle ’21 and Mac Strand ‘21 competed at sectionals.Mac qualified for the state meet, placing 4th, improving his 5th place finish as a sophomore. Strand’s sister, Anna ’22 (above left), competed at the unofficial girls’ state meet, and was champion in her weight bracket.


Powerlifting: Xavier had 15 athletes qualify for state: nine boys and six girls. Three lifters took 3rd place: Alan Jimenez ‘21, Anna Strand ’22 , and Mac Strand ‘21 . Vanessa Laundrie ‘20 (right) was the state champion!


The Mock Trial team took first place at regionals in February. They would have competed at State in March.

Bowling: The varsity boys' bowling team qualified for state and placed 17th, the best performance at state in Xavier history. Players included Ian Mettelman ’20, Ben Drees ’20, John Bertello ’20, Garrett Lorge ’20, Jimmy McGovern ’20, and Logan Nevins ’21 . Garrett had 16 strikes (53%) and Ben had three opens (90% fill). Ben and Ian also qualified for state as individual bowlers. The top five finishers in conference play are invited to participate on an All Star Team. Ian was third in the conference, but due to the pandemic, the All Star Tournament was canceled.


FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is a nationally recognized organization - students compete at regional, state, and national levels. Students can participate in over 80 different events ranging from tests on financial investments to presentations about product inventions, mobile app development, and social media campaigns. The top three performers in each group move forward to state - from there, nationals. Over 30 Xavier students worked and studied to prepare for regionals, many qualified for state. Congratulations to those that qualified for the state competition which was later canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

VEX Robotics: Members of Team 536E; Jimmy McGovern ‘20, John Bertello ’20, and Ben Drees ‘20 won the State Championship! They are the first team in Wisconsin to win back to back to back state championships, qualifying them for the World Championships. Teams 536B and 536D also qualified for Worlds making it the first time that Xavier High School has had three robots qualify for this competition.
XMS Team 2626T and XES Team 2626Y were World Championship qualifiers as well. The competition, scheduled in April, was later canceled.
