This winter, our elementary campuses found ways to celebrate their love for reading. In January, Marquette Street hosted “Pajamas and Popcorn Story Time” and in March, students at the McDonald Street campus celebrated Read Across America Day, also known as Dr. Seuss Day.

Both events featured teachers and staff dressing up as their favorite book characters, while students wore pajamas. They played bingo, listened to teachers read, participated in a book walk, and even had the opportunity to read to a dog and our very own Xavier Hawk.

These events are designed to encourage students to read more books and get them excited about the fabulous world of reading. Judging from the response of students, staff, and parents each was a huge success.
