Here we are AGAIN! Presented by Explore Media, Wynlakes Golf and Country Club has been hand selected as the Faces of Country Clubs in the 2025 Issue of FACES OF MONTGOMERY magazine. We have been identified as a business making Montgomery thrive and one who truly represents the “FACE OF” our industry as experts in our field. Wynlakes was honored to host the magazine reveal/launch party in September. As I shared that evening, Wynlakes is about hospitality and building family memories. Being selected is a true honor that we are so proud of. Thank you to our members and staff who make us the best FACE of Country Clubs. Your issue should be hitting your mailbox soon.
They will let you know the activities happening at the club. We’re excited to celebrate Clyde Mosby as our July Employee of the Month! Clyde has been a valued member of the Wynlakes team for three years, and his warmth, dedication, and passion for what he does make him an essential part of our Club! For Clyde, the best part about working at Wynlakes is the pleasant and positive environment created by both the members and his fellow employees. His favorite part of the job? Without a doubt, it’s the members—and, of course, the food! Clyde is motivated each day by the smiles and looks of satisfaction he sees from members in the Men’s Grill, knowing he’s made their experience a great one. When he’s not at work, Clyde loves spending time with his grandkids, watching movies, and cooking. He says Wynlakes is truly special because he gets to do what he loves every day—so much so that it doesn’t even feel like work. Congratulations, Clyde!

Next to the common cold, back pain is the most frequent complaint heard by doctors.
Massage kneads away tension in the muscles, as well as relieving discomfort in surrounding areas that are “guarding” in response to the pain. It increases circulation, allowing healing nutrients and oxygen into the tissue.

Dr Dani,
I’d like to know more about handling pressure during tie-breaks, as I find myself playing them often.
Sincerely,
Ty Breakman
Dear Ty,
Tie-breaks can be a pivotal moment in a tennis match, so handling the added pressure effectively is crucial. By adopting a positive mindset, employing highpercentage tactics, and managing nerves, you can increase your chances of success during these high-pressure situations.
Here are some key strategies to help you navigate tie-breaks with greater composure and confidence:
• Maintain a positive mindset: Believe in your abilities and visualize yourself executing shots effectively and staying calm under pressure.
• Focus on one point at a time: Avoid dwelling on past mistakes or getting overwhelmed by the overall score. Treat each point as an individual opportunity and concentrate on executing your shot plan for that specific point.
• Utilize a consistent routine between points: This could involve taking a deep breath, adjusting your grip, or bouncing the ball a certain number of times before serving or returning. This provides an anchor and helps you reset and refocus after each point.
• Employ tactical approaches:
• Serve with precision and aim for a high first-serve percentage.
• Return serves with depth and consistency, playing high-percentage shots to avoid easy errors and put pressure on your opponent.
• Identify and target your opponent’s weaknesses.
• Vary the pace and spin of your shots to keep your opponent guessing and disrupt their rhythm.
• Manage emotions and nerves:
Friday, October 24
6pm-8pm

• Use deep breathing techniques to slow your heart rate and calm your nerves.
• Employ positive self-talk and affirmations to counter negative thoughts and build confidence.
• Acknowledge and accept that nerves are a normal part of the game for both you and your opponent.
• Commit to your shots: Once you’ve chosen a shot, fully commit to it rather than second-guessing yourself or playing tentatively.
Sincerely,
Dr Dani

The Hole In One Club has been active during the early Fall golf season. Jeff Dunn made a Hole In One on #7 recently and it was the 4th ACE that we have seen in the last 6 weeks!! Jeff’s shot was witnessed by Porter Reaves, Cole Henry, and Jacob Stinson. Congratulations, Jeff!! Who will be the next member of the Hole In One Club to collect the $$$???

The Golf Shop has a bunch of good new arrivals for Fall from all of your favorite companies (Peter Millar – Lululemon – Pukka – Johnnie-O). Come check out what we have to offer and plan for our Holiday Open House on Friday – December 5th!!

Start setting aside some free time for our Fall Golf League!
We’ll play 9 holes EVERY Thursday starting September 11th through October 30th – that is 8 weeks of competition. Each Thursday will be a 9 hole shotgun start @ 5:30pm Singles 2-person Teams 4-Person Team Scramble Dog Fight Points Red, White, & Blue 3 Club Challenge
There will be a $20 weekly entry fee. Prizes will be awarded for the weekly games and a Fall League Points System will award prizes for the League Winners.

Happy fall, everyone! I know my crew and I have been enjoying the lower humidity and those nice, cool mornings. We’re already seeing turf growth start to slow down thanks to shorter days and cooler nights. It’s also been pretty dry lately with the limited rainfall we’ve had — but that’s not unusual for this time of year.
I wanted to share a few updates on what we’ve been working on out on the course, as well as some important things to keep in mind as we head into winter.
First, on the course, we’ve been laying new sod in high-traffic areas, thinning collars, and spots where we removed larger trees over the summer. We’ve also been double-cutting the greens every day throughout September. This has really set them up nicely for the winter — the greens now have a dense canopy, and they’re smooth, healthy, and rolling great. Before long, the leaves will start falling, so you’ll soon see our blowers and vacuums in action around the course.
Over the next few weeks, our focus will shift to pre-emergent treatments
and storing equipment for winter. If you haven’t applied your fall pre-emerge yet, now’s the time. Doing so will help prevent those pesky winter weeds that pop up when the turf goes dormant. Fall pre-emergent also helps combat one of the worst lawn nuisances — lawn burweed (or “stickers”). Even though we don’t usually notice them until spring, burweed is actually a winter weed, and those painful stickers are just the dried seed heads left at the end of its life cycle. Treating for them now helps ensure you won’t be dealing with them later.
We’ll soon be wrapping up mowing and trimming for the season as well. When storing your equipment, make sure to either run the gas out beforehand or add a fuel stabilizer to the tank. Don’t forget to disconnect the battery on anything that has one.
I hope you enjoyed this month’s update. I look forward to seeing y’all around the club and out on the course. The turf is in great shape and healthy heading into the cooler months — and we’re ready for some crisp fall golf weather. See you on the course!
The 2025 Member-Member will be Saturday – November 1st. Mark it down now and find a partner – you still have time to hold tryouts if necessary.
