BACK PAIN BODYWORK & MASSAGE THERAPY

Next to the common cold, back pain is the most frequent complaint heard by doctors.

Massage kneads away tension in the muscles, as well as relieving discomfort in surrounding areas that are “guarding” in response to the pain. It increases circulation, allowing healing nutrients and oxygen into the tissue.

Dr. Dani,

Dr Dani,

How do I work on my mental game in tennis?

Sincerely, Mental Mitch

Dear Mitch,

Mental toughness is like a storm in your own head that can be treated with self-discipline and practice. Eliminating negative words, outbursts and facial gestures are the first start to becoming strong mentally. It takes practice to become calm during the storm in a match. Just like a storm at sea, the waves and rain are rough on the surface of the ocean, but go several feet below the surface and the ocean is calm. Not showing your emotions to your opponents gives you an advantage over someone who talks negatively, thinks negatively and looks defeated.

Sincerely, Dr

On April 26th, Tom Adams played a routine round with his Selfish Brothers friends here at Wynlakes. When the round was complete Tom had accomplished the great feat of beating his age. A golfer beating his age is an admirable task but what make this even more incredible is that the April 26th round was the 44th time that Tom had beaten his age. 44!! Congratulations for the 44th time, Tom!!

JULY COURSE CLOSURE

The Golf Course will be closed July 7th through the 11th to complete aerification and DryJect procedures. Both of these procedures are crucial to ensuring and maintaining a healthy golf course and we fully expect to have a clean recovery within a couple of weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience the closure may cause but appreciate your patience.

SUPERVIEWS by Brad Barron

Swing

Summer is here and the golf course is in full swing growing season. The golf maintenance crew has been wide open in the last months with multiple agricultural and mechanical practices. I would like to share with you what we have been doing on the course.

On the course we have been in full go mode. Topdressing the greens started late February and has continued weekly since. We have started verti-cutting greens recently. This practice helps with the smoothness of the greens, but also eliminates thatch and creates new growth points on the turf, which helps create a uniform dense putting surface. We have also been gradually lowering the height of cut on our greens mowers. This helps with ball roll and the speed of the greens. We have also been venting our greens monthly since April. This allows for air and water to have easier access to the root zone of the greens. All of these practices are needed to create a consistent and healthy putting surface for our course.

We have also started our growth regulator program and fertility programs

on tees and fairways. We obviously use fertilizers along with fungicides to create a healthy and fast-growing plant. This helps with recovery from play and mowing. So, why do we use growth regulators if we are trying to grow grass? Growth regulators in turf are designed not to keep the grass from growing, but to change the growth pattern of the plant. It causes the turf to stop growing upward and starting growing in a more sideways or in a lateral direction. This creates a dense, uniform playing surface for our fairways and tees. In doing this it also helps with grass clippings and that helps us cut down on blowing also.

In conclusion, it has been a great start to the golf season on the course. We came out of dormancy in great shape. The course conditions have been great with our weather patterns and the overall health and playability of the course are extremely good. I have enjoyed seeing so much member play on the course this year and are looking forward to continuing to produce a great product for y’all. Thanks again for all your support. See you on the course!

Thursday, June 12
