FROM THE MANAGER

Happy September!

We recently wrapped up the 10th Annual Founders Cup golf tournament, and what a weekend it was! Congratulations to Team Greasers Green, our 2025 champions! Nearly 100 Wynlakes members joined in this year, which is what makes the Founders Cup so special—it’s a tournament made up entirely of our members. New members were able to meet and play with other members. It was simply a wonderful weekend. Thank you to all

Up next, we’ll celebrate another Employee Appreciation Day on Tuesday, September 2nd here at the Club. Our team has been working diligently to elevate hospitality for you, your families, and your guests, and I hope you’ve noticed. This commitment is a top priority for me and for our staff. As I often remind the team: Service is a transaction, but hospitality is how you make people feel. That’s what matters most.

With fall approaching, we have an exciting lineup of activities for you and your families:

FITNESS PROGRAMS

We’re delighted that Brooke Callicott has officially stepped into a full-time fitness training role. She’s already inspiring members with new programs such as “The Fall Reset” for adults and “Foundation Fit: Speed & Strength” for students—both designed to help our members stay healthy and active. Thank you, Brooke, for bringing fresh energy and ideas to our fitness program.

In addition, Ryan will kick off his Fitness Luncheon Series on Tuesday, October 7th, beginning with a session on “Why Strength Training is Important as We Age.” It’s a message that resonates strongly, and I encourage you to join. Reserve your spot by emailing Ryan at ryanc@wynlakes.com.

GRANDPARENTS DAY BRUNCH

Join us on Sunday, September 7th for the return of Sunday Brunch in the Ballroom! This will be the first Sunday Brunch back in the Ballroom, and we are hoping for a large crowd. To celebrate National Grandparent’s Day, we’ll feature a special photo display—complete with on-site photo printing so you can take your keepsake home that day. EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH JUNE - CEDRIC BURTON

We are proud to recognize Cedric Burton as our June Employee of the Month! Cedric has been a valued part of the Wynlakes kitchen staff for a little over two years, and his dedication to providing excellent service never goes unnoticed. When asked what he enjoys most about working at Wynlakes, Cedric shared that it’s the staff and the environment that make coming to work so enjoyable. His favorite part of his job is ensuring members receive great service and leave with a smile. Outside of work, Cedric enjoys reading, fishing, bowling, and cheering on Alabama football. He credits his daughters as his greatest motivation, inspiring him to always give his best. What makes Wynlakes truly special to Cedric is how the club treats its staff—with respect, care, and appreciation. We are fortunate to have his positivity and commitment on our team. Congratulations, Cedric, and thank you for all that you do for Wynlakes!

They will let you know the activities happening at the club. If not, please log onto www.wynlakes.com and enter your e-mail address to receive weekly updates about “What’s Happening at Wynlakes,” view your monthly statements, check out the daily lunch buffet, and much more. BACK PAIN BODYWORK & MASSAGE

Next to the common cold, back pain is the most frequent complaint heard by doctors.

Massage kneads away tension in the muscles, as well as relieving discomfort in surrounding areas that are “guarding” in response to the pain. It increases circulation, allowing healing nutrients and oxygen into the tissue.

Dr. Dani,

Dr Dani, Can you give me a tip to improve my slice backhand?

Sincerely,

Dear Sally,

Using a continental grip is an essential tip for a slice backhand. Keep the racket head at a 45 degree angle using your non dominant hand and make sure to turn sideways hitting slightly above to below the ball slightly in front of you. The follow through should finish towards your target. Use the slice backhand to become a better player.

SUPERVIEWS by Brad Barron

This week’s superviews will cover how we prepare the course for wintertime. I know you must be thinking its way too hot to be thinking about wintertime but the months leading into late fall will set you up for winter and dormancy. So, we will continue our topdressing program through September. This will set up a smooth, firm surface going into winter on the greens. Another practice we do is double cut the greens for the entire month of September. So, in doing this practice we will create a lateral growth pattern of the plant. By mowing twice as much the grass on the greens will start to grow sideways instead of upright. This will help fill in imperfections on the green and create a tight canopy. This will create a great surface to play on all winter. We will also be applying fall fertilizers in the

coming months. These fertilizers are aimed more for root growth than leaf growth. The fertilizers will be high in potassium with a small amount of nitrogen. The potassium will feed the roots and get them ready to go into the winter and dormancy. By doing this, the roots will store much needed nutrients for the winter and also for greening in the spring. Think of it like a bear eating a lot to get ready for hibernation.

These are some of the techniques and tools we will use in the coming months getting ready for winter. Like I said earlier, I know it’s still hot and no one is thinking of wintertime, but it will be here soon. The leaves will begin to change color and start falling. Cooler nights are coming. We just need to prepare for it beforehand. Hope to see you on the course!

Shaw Pritchett recently won his 3rd Alabama Senior Match Play Championship. Shaw played steady all tournament and had a great match in the Finals against a friend and fellow Wynlakes member

Jeff Taylor. Congratulations to Shaw and Jeff on strong tournament performances.
