A Look at Dentist CE Requirements The following is a check-off list for 2022 CE requirements:
NEW
n Three hours pain management. n Three hours of implicit bias training (in-person or live webinar). Effective for all license renewals after June 1, 2022.
CE REQUIREMENTS IN 2022
n One hour in dental ethics and jurisprudence with inclusion of delegation of duties to allied dental personnel. Effective for all license renewals AFTER April 26, 2022. n One hour in infection control, which must include sterilization of hand pieces, personal protective equipment, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s infection control guidelines. Effective for all license renewals AFTER April 26, 2022. n A one-time, one-hour course in human trafficking recognition
3 hours of implicit bias training (in-person or live webinar). Effective for all license renewals after June 1, 2022.
1 hour in dental ethics and jurisprudence with inclusion of delegation of duties to allied dental personnel. Effective for all license renewals after April 26, 2022.

n CPR: In addition to CE credits, dentists must also always carry a current Basic Life Support CPR card. n Opioid Training: The state of Michigan also requires a one-time training in opioid awareness to renew your state-controlled substance license. Controlled substance licensees must complete a 1-time training in opioids and controlled substance awareness. Effective for all license renewals in 2022.
