November 2022 EDITORIAL - James Warrener So it wasn't meant to be at Wimbledon as our brave and bold FA Cup run came to an end in tennis country. I keep watching the YouTube highlights and pausing just before Tom Blair gets too much on his shot and it goes over the bar. Sigh. The positives from the game are the national exposure (albeit not as much as we would have wanted) for both matches along with the influx of much needed revenue. Football should always be about two teams and a ball, but sadly the events of late summer at WFC meant that the cash flow needed to get a game on became paramount. So to have a little unbudgeted cash coming in should always be welcomed. There has been a lot of change to the squad as players come and go, all in the interest of Bobby Wilkinson getting the right blend out on the pitch come match day. The return of Ben Thomson has garnered all of the headlines and I hope against hope that his second spell has a better ending than that of his former Salisbury teammate Brandon Goodship. With us now being out of both FA competitions, there is no distraction and no reason not to be fully focused on the task at hand in the National League South. I still look at the table with a realistic eye, but it is beginning to look a lot better from a Terras perspective. Every game though remains a cup final (to use a cliche) so it’s paramount that we all stick with the club and the team. These are troubled times outside of the game so if the Terras winning matches give us some much needed cheer, let’s celebrate it. Until next month, take care. James https://www.wfcsa.co.uk/
