Terras Times
March 2023
EDITORIAL - James Warrener
Sprin time can’t come soon enou h or Terras ans as a topsy turvy season carries on.
It’s startin to look a taller and taller order to stay up but we have to keep oin until any mathematical calculation says otherwise.
I am not oin to pretend its not rustratin and that 5pm on a Saturday has been pleasant (in the main) or the last couple o seasons but I will carry on supportin the club in my own way hopin to play a part in a success ul period thats on the horizon and comin our way. .

I am not sure i its the case that as you et a bit older you start to become a bit more san uine about results and seasons. But as lon as there is a WFC or me to ollow then I will be fine with that.
Doesn’t mean I don’t want it success ul or competin at the hi hest possible levels, but never at the risk o its existence.
Despite the first teams challen e in findin consistency, there is plenty o ood news around the club.
We have the excellent Oily Ra initiative, new club shop, Hall o Fame evenin and other undraisin work that is in the pipeline.
You can also point to some o the other teams at the club.
The Women's team have had a ew matches postponed recently but Charlie Wilson will brin us up to date later on in this months edition.
The spotli ht is also shinin on the U23s and their quest or honours.
It’s a ood time or these players to be showin their skills at the Bob Lucas Stadium ri ht now. I they are ood enou h they will et the chance… and which Terras an doesn’t want to see some home rown talent in the first team oin orward?

Hello and welcome to the March 2023 edition o your monthly newsletter. I hope you are all well? It has been another busy month, I know I say that a lot, but you can't hide the truth!
We had a stron team out supportin the latest Oily Ra event which deserves much praise. Robin Nicholls came up with the idea and it has been such a pleasure to see his efforts bear such rich ruit. The first Sunday o each month (thou h some dates do chan e due to clashes with New Year or other similar vehicle events held locally in the summer, so do check be ore travellin ),sees the Bob Lucas car park a buzz o activity with vehicles o every shape size and colour!
To see so many visitors turn out durin the mornin to view this ree to attend event is heart warmin and just shows what is possible with effort and belie ! Importantly, as well as puttin the Football Club on the map, it is raisin valuable unds or the club and other worthy causes.
Also, the final touches to the Hall o Fame will be bein made as you read this! Those bein inducted are Tony A ana, Mark Robinson, Steve Tully as voted or by you, the ans and Frank O'Farrell was selected by WFC board o directors.
It is not too late to et a ticket, we have a ew le t and we will be able to add you in, i one o your avourites are in that list!
As you all know, the position o Chairman o the supporters club was iven ull director status last summer. It took some time to o throu h the procedures and checks and I was finally confirmed in place by Companies House on 9th Au ust 2022.
Initially, I ound mysel dumped strai ht into the maelstrom o our latest financial meltdown, and to be quite rank with you all, I had very little understandin o what was oin on, how we had ot into this situation or how we would et out o it.
It was quite a crushin eelin .
All the work and effort we had collectively put in over the years to support the club whilst bein constantly reassured we were livin within our means, it was hard to see a way orward in those dark days.

Fortunately, we have been blessed with havin Paul Maitland and Simon Etherin ton to help steer us to calmer waters, thou h the storm clouds have not completely dispersed, not quite yet.
For those who don't know, my back round is a military one, havin joined the Royal Navy strai ht rom school, where I spent my entire adult workin li e, havin now retired! I would like to put on record my personal thanks to Paul, Simon and also to Kelvin Hastin s-Gordon, who have been patient with me and helped me to better understand the runnin o a business like a ootball club.
