TERRAS TIMES The newsletter of the Weymouth FC Supporters Association

ISSUE 4 February 2016

Chairman’s Chat Its so much easier to write this piece after a win and that is exactly the result we saw over the weekend against Kettering Town. Behind at home and then fighting back to win with a late goal is the best way to win a football match in my opinion and despite some lower than anticipated attendances if we can keep winning games and providing entertainment then there is no reason for people to stay away. There has been a lot of change behind the scenes in recent weeks and its testament the to talented volunteers and the club that we have been able to show some continuation of service on things like the website and club shop. There is still room to be a part of the team, so don’t be shy !

Farewell Stewart Yetton…

I would like to echo what Joe said in his piece above about finding the motivation to produce a newsletter being a lot easier after a win!

The news broke like a bolt from the blue.

Games with Kettering are always special and you wonder if it should be called the “Sleeping Giants Derby”…

I was out training on my bike and as I pedalled away in the fading light I just couldn't take the news in and compute. It was eerie.

We continue to work hard on a number of issues around the club including communication, so please make sure you use this newsletter to get your points across and get your work or opinions surrounding WFC aired! We are looking for more pictures to make the newsletter aesethically more pleasing so get them emailed over. Please send your pieces for contribution to weymouthfcsa@gmail.com

Stewart Yetton had left Weymouth Football Club.

Yetton was an absolute hero and a player you could guarantee would give 100% every time he pulled on the shirt. No question. His scoring boots had been absent for a season or so but his dedication to the cause could never be questioned. Never. I got home and spoke to my daughter who had no memories of any other player leading the Weymouth attack. She cried and cried. It hurt me to see it. It might only be football to some, but even at our level the club and its players mean something to us– James Warrener
