WEDU PBS | PAGE 6

A Message from Paul Grove

Dear Friends of WEDU PBS,

There’s something extraordinary about programs that elicit emotion, spark curiosity, and inspire action. That’s why I am incredibly proud to announce Good Natured, a new documentary film from WEDU PBS, and to share exciting opportunities for you to watch and connect with its powerful message.

This remarkable project, created by WEDU’s own Ashley Stokes, takes viewers on an intimate journey through Florida’s wild spaces. Ashley explores the healing power of nature and introduces us to inspiring individuals who are dedicated to conservation, innovation, and balancing human progress with environmental stewardship.

Good Natured premieres on WEDU on Thursday, February 27, at 9 p.m.

I recently spoke with Ashley about the project. To read the full interview, visit wedu.org/blogs

What inspired you to create this documentary?

I was overwhelmed by emotions about the changing climate and wanted to connect with others, hear their feelings, and learn about their actions. Why is this story worth telling?

As Floridians on the frontlines of a changing climate, we experience its effects firsthand. Sharing my journey offers a personal connection and reflects others’ experiences.

What did you learn from creating this film?

I learned there’s no single solution to the climate crisis; it requires diverse approaches and collaboration to build a sustainable future. What was your favorite part of the process?

I loved meeting inspiring people who share a vision for a sustainable planet and exploring Florida’s natural beauty, from the Everglades to coral reefs, which reminded me of the joy of simply being alive.

What do you hope viewers take away from the film?

I hope viewers see our interconnectedness, realize it’s never too late to act, and understand how individual strengths can contribute to a powerful collective impact.

Good Natured carries a message that resonates across generations, urging us all to reflect on our relationship with the environment and take action to preserve it. Thank you for supporting WEDU as we tell impactful stories that spark thought, inspire change, and connect communities.

I also invite you to a special advanced screening of the film on Wednesday, February 19, at the historic Tampa Theatre. Tickets are complimentary, but RSVP is required! Visit wedu.org/goodnatured to secure your spot.

As always, I welcome your comments and feedback. Feel free to contact me at paulgrove@wedu.org.

Ashley also sits down with members of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, who share their profound connection to the land and their community, and visits Rosebud Continuum, whose work merges ancient wisdom with modern tech to create sustainable solutions for the future.
