About the Festival
Authors’ Reading Month (ARM) is the largest literary festival in Central Europe. Since 2000, it has been connecting readers and writers across countries, cultures, and languages. Every July, it takes place simultaneously in several cities. In 2026: Brno and Ostrava (Czech Republic), Prešov and Bratislava (Slovakia), and partly also in Lviv (Ukraine). For 31 days, two authors appear daily: one international guest and one local writer. Each reading is followed by an open discussion with the audience.
ARM annually presents over 100 authors — from the Guest of Honour and local programme lines across all festival cities — together with publishers, translators, and media. Its impact goes beyond July, with books, translations, films, and cultural events resonating year-round.
The festival will also host the Book Industry Forum 2026 — a three-day meeting of publishers and literary agencies from Central Europe and Greenland. The Forum will foster long-term professional links, support translation and publishing projects, and promote ‘slow trading’ based on dialogue and lasting cooperation.
The Guest of Honour Concept
Each year, the festival presents the literature and culture of one selected country — the Guest of Honour. In the last ten years, the Guests of Honour have been:
2025 — Exile
2024 — Taiwan
2023 — Norway
2022 — Iceland
2021 — Slovakia
2020 — Hungary
2019 — Romania
2018 — Turkey
2017 — Georgia
2016 — Spain
2015 — Ukraine
The Guest of Honour section features 31 authors from the selected country, representing different generations, genres, and literary styles. Their works are presented in translation through public readings, discussions, documentary films, and media coverage.

2026: Greenland
In 2026, Greenland will become the festival’s Guest of Honour. This will be the first large-scale literary and cultural presentation of Greenland in Central Europe. The programme will include:
31 Greenlandic authors representing fiction, poetry, drama, and non-fiction.
Public readings and discussions in five cities across four countries.
Translations into Czech and Slovak and Ukrainian of selected Greenlandic works.
Film essays and documentaries produced in cooperation with national broadcasters.
Accompanying cultural events showcasing Greenlandic history, culture, and contemporary society.
Why Greenland?
Greenlandic literature is closely tied to questions of identity, language and the environment. By presenting Greenland as Guest of Honour, ARM aims to:
Increase awareness of Greenland’s unique literary voices.
Strengthen cultural ties between Greenland and Central Europe.
Create new opportunities for Greenlandic authors, translators, and publishers.
Contribute to mutual understanding through literature in a European context.
