INCLUSIVE INFRASTRUCTURE IN MARINA VALLARTA

THIS PROJECT WILL HAVE 90 RAMPS IN TOTAL, WHICH WILL BE DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

AS PART OF A CITIZEN INITIATIVE that promotes inclusive mobility spaces, the Asociación de Residentes Marina Vallarta, A.C. has allocated an investment of its own resources for the construction of 90 ramps that will be distributed on different streets in this dynamic area.

This project started in September 2019 on Calle Albatros. Architect Alonso González, the association’s head of supervision and maintenance, created the first ramps and, noticing that many people were beginning to use them, as an initiative he decided to implement them throughout the neighborhood.

The idea was immediately approved by the different members of the board, including the president of the association, Enrique Camargo, the secretary, Carlos Alberto Berján, and the treasurer, Luis Angarita, as well as prominent leaders and entrepreneurs from different developments in the area.

Currently, construction progress is at 50 percent, and it is estimated that this project will be completed in May 2020.

COMO PARTE DE UNA INICIATIVA CIUDADANA que promueva espacios inclusivos de movilidad, la Asociación de Residentes Marina Vallarta, A.C. ha destinado una inversión de recursos propios para la construcción de 90 rampas que se distribuirán en distintas calles de esta dinámica zona.

Este proyecto comenzó en septiembre de 2019 en la calle Albatros. El arquitecto Alonso González, jefe de supervisión y mantenimiento de la asociación, realizó las primeras rampas y, al notar que muchas personas comenzaban a utilizarlas, a manera de iniciativa decidió implementarlas en toda la colonia.

La idea fue aprobada de inmediato por los distintos integrantes que forman parte del consejo, entre ellos el presidente de la asociación, Enrique Camargo; el secretario, Carlos Alberto Berján y el tesorero, Luis Angarita; así como destacados líderes y empresarios de distintos desarrollos de la zona.

Actualmente se tiene un avance de construcción del 50 por ciento y se estima que este proyecto quedará concluido en mayo de 2020.

“Al concluir las rampas, el siguiente paso será sustituir el empedrado que forma parte del paso peatonal por materiales lisos, para que las sillas de ruedas, carriolas y vehículos alternativos cuenten con un mejor rodaje y así se genere una conectividad terrestre más completa en Marina Vallarta”.

ORIGINALLY FROM MEXICO CITY, Antonio Trejo is the co-founder and general manager of Guardian Insurance MX. Barely 30 years old, in his professional life he has dedicated himself for more than seven years to insurance, where his trajectory and experience is already recognized among other companies and colleagues.

His foray into this industry occurred when he was invited to collaborate in a company where he began to specialize in health insurance. “I decided to focus on this coverage because I consider it to be one of the most complex, since, in addition to being linked to people’s health, many factors and variables come into play, which can include doctors, hospitals and pharmacies, among others,” he explains.

Foreigners must demonstrate that their average income, during the last 12 months, is equal to or greater than 32,000 dollars.

On the other hand, if the interested party is working for a company, they must verify that they have received over $1,900 per month in the last six months or, if they are retired or pensioned, clarify that they have received at least that same amount in the last six months.

Los extranjeros deben demostrar que sus ingresos promedios, durante los últimos 12 meses, son iguales o mayores a 32 mil dólares. According to our expert, another way to process Temporary Mexican Residency is through the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) (National Institute of Immigration), as long as the foreigner has a link with any Mexican or permanent resident who is already living in Mexico.

PROCESSING TIME

“Through the first way, that is, applying directly to one of the Mexican consulates abroad, Temporary Mexican Residency could be issued within a period of one to ten business days. However, there are consulates that grant it on the same day. Upon obtaining that first visa, the foreigner will have 180 days to enter Mexico and continue with the second step, which is with the Instituto Nacional de Migración, and that takes around 35 business days,” she explains.

“Por la primera vía, es decir, aplicando directamente en alguno de los consulados de México en el extranjero, la Residencia Temporal Mexicana podría expedirse en un plazo de uno a diez días hábiles. Sin embargo, hay consulados que la otorgan en el mismo día. Al obtener esa primera visa, el extranjero contará con 180 días para ingresar a México y continuar con el segundo paso, que es con el Instituto Nacional de Migración, y eso tarda alrededor de 35 días hábiles” explica.

En cuanto a precios, los cuales pueden variar sin previo aviso, actualmente la Visa de Residencia Temporal está en 40 dólares (que se tramita en algún consulado) y la Residencia Temporal Mexicana (en el INM) está en 4,272 pesos.

OBLIGATIONS Among the most important obligations foreigners with Temporary Mexican Residency must take into account is to notify the INM of any type of change they make during the first 90 days in which it happens. “This includes, for example, changes of address, marital status, nationality and workplace, among others.”

CONSIDERATIONS Since Mexican law states that a foreigner cannot have two conditions of stay at the same time, it is of the utmost importance that, if a temporary resident is outside of Mexico, they avoid returning as a tourist, because if the immigration file is documented that way, they will have to start the whole process over again.

In addition, temporary residents must take into account that to be able to work in Mexico legally, they need a special permit issued by the INM, officially known as a Visa por Oferta de Empleo (Job Offer Visa), which currently takes between 30 and 45 days to be issued.

Before concluding, Lazareno shared one last consideration: “If foreigners wish to carry out this process on their own, it is highly recommended that they speak Spanish well because, although it is not complicated to obtain the visa by fulfilling all the requirements, the language of the paperwork can be a barrier when wanting to carry out the procedure at the INM.”

OBLIGACIONES Entre las obligaciones más importantes que deben tener en cuenta los extranjeros con Residencia Temporal Mexicana es la de notificar, ante el INM, cualquier tipo de cambio que realicen durante los primeros 90 días en que sucedió. “Esto incluye, por ejemplo, cambios de domicilio, estado civil, nacionalidad y lugar de trabajo, entre otros”.

CONSIDERACIONES Puesto que las leyes mexicanas señalan que un extranjero no puede tener dos condiciones de estancia al mismo tiempo, es de suma importancia que, si un residente temporal se encuentra fuera de México, evite regresar como turista, pues si en el expediente migratorio queda documentado de esa manera, se tendrá que volver a iniciar con todo el proceso.

Además, los residentes temporales deben tomar en cuenta que, para poder trabajar en México de manera legal, necesitan un permiso especial emitido por el INM, el cual es conocido oficialmente como Visa por Oferta de Empleo y actualmente tarda entre 30 y 45 días en emitirse.

Antes de concluir, Lazareno compartió una última consideración: “Si los extranjeros desean realizar este proceso por su propia cuenta, es altamente recomendable que hablen bien el español porque, si bien no es complicado obtener la visa cumpliendo con todos los requisitos, el idioma del papeleo puede ser una barrera a momento de querer hacer los trámites ante el INM”.
