National Theme:
“Moving Forward with a Purpose; Reaching New Heights”
The New Haven Club, Inc. was chartered as a member of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc in November 1944. The National office is located in Washington, CD. Mrs Ollie Chinn Porter, President of the New York Club, and members of the New York and Philadelphia Clubs founded the organization in July 1935. The organization’s primary concerns were to protect the interest of business and professional women; to create fellowship among them; and to improve the social and civic conditions of people. The organization encourages the subsidiary clubs throughout the United States and other parts of the world, to create and develop opportunities for women in business and the professions.
The programs of the New Haven Club, Inc. consist of education in business opportunities for entrepreneurship and finance planning, scholarships, and women’s health education. Contributions and in-kind support are given to homeless shelters and the elderly. We work in partnership with the NAACP, schools, professional organizations, local community agencies, and other non-profit organizations to deliver services to those in need. There is a youth organization affiliated with the adult program and both organizations contribute to the community on an ongoing basis and lend support to each other’s events. Our mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives through education and resources.
