Apostle Valerie Washington
Valerie Washington, born September 1, 1968, to Rosa and John McCoter in the city of New Haven, CT; wife of Segun Washington, mother of 6 and grandmother of 8.
In April of 1994, she was converted to Christianity and became a member of Deliverance Temple Pentecostal Church. As a sister in the faith, God led her to provide shelter for the poor, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and visit the sick. She continued her spiritual duties and was ordained a missionary in 1996. In 1997, she was ordained as an Evangelist by the late Bishop Clinton McCarter. She preached and taught the gospel, conducted church revivals, and later served as an armor bearer and pastor aide under another.
Pastor Washington has taught at South Central Rehabilitation Center, Cross Roads, a long term care program for men and women, the Amethyst House, a privately owned sober house for women, and Youth Continuum for the youth. She was also involved in the prison ministry, working with ex-convicted felons, youth jail interview program, and Lake Grove Center in Durham Connecticut.
January 23, 2005 God called her to pastor and the mission He chose to fulfill through her is to reconcile the world back to Him. The vision God gave her for the ministry is to preach and teach the gospel to every nationality, denomination, tongue and creed; that all men will be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth; to loose the bonds of the wicked, to undue heavy burdens, let the oppressed go free, break every yoke, to give bread to the hungry, clothe the naked, and bring the poor that are cast out to thy house (Isaiah 58:6).
Pastor Valerie Washington is the founder of Upon This Rock Ministries.
In March 2005 the Lord blessed her ministry with the 508 Whalley Ave building, where they worshiped and praised God faithfully for four years.
