Man of the Year Award
Denval Lawrence would be described as dynamic, creative, and multidimensional as he currently holds various roles. First, he is a Workday Solutions Architect at Yale University; specializing in workday system configuration, data analysis, and solutions architecture which includes human capital management, security, and total rewards (benefits). At Yale, Denval is involved in several impactful HR technology projects that allow university employees and faculty to manage business processes from hiring and onboarding to security, benefits, and compensation.
Previous to this position, Denval spent a total of eight years as a Tech Recruiter at Verizon and Yale as he did niche sourcing and deployed recruiting various recruiting strategies for leadership and individual contributorlevel positions within engineering, enterprise systems, human resources information systems, network, and library technology. Denval contained a strong passion for recruiting diverse professionals into the number one Telecommunications Company and Ivy League University in the World.
At Southern Connecticut State University, Denval holds an Adjunct Professor role at Business School. With a strong passion towards learning, technology & innovation, and mentorship, he enjoys authentically lecturing and positively inspiring our future business leaders of Connecticut. Denval has taught Management and Organization, Organizational Behavior, Management of Multinational Corporations, and Human Resource Management for the past four years. The cherry on top for Denval is not only arming his students with knowledge and skills to face real world business challenges, but also leaving his students with resume writing, mock interviewing and various other resources to increase their candidacy for jobs upon graduation.
Denval has consulted with various organizations to further their missions and impact in their respective communities. Some of these organizations include The Community Foundation of Greater New Haven, Housatonic Community College, and Post University. He assisted CFHNH with building their digital footprint and branding via LinkedIn. At HCC, Denval created four workshops on resume writing, mock interviewing, building candidacy, and branding for your business. Lastly, he currently sits on the Board of Post University’s Malcolm Baldridge School of Business where he serves at a thought leader for course enhancements, learning modalities, and curriculum development. He enjoys influencing the creation of programs that increase retention, value, and academic affinity. Especially, for students of color.
