Jeanette Sykes was born in Florence, SC and moved to New Haven CT. She attended Wilbur Cross High School excelling academically and in extra curricula activities. She has earned a B.S. in Human Services, Masters in Counseling and Community Psychology, and a Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Jeanette completed the William Graustein Community Leadership Program, The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program, and Neighborhood Housing Leadership Program. She has trained at the National Association of Nouthetic Biblical Counseling.

A gifted and highly respected administrator, she currently works at CCP’s Pathways Academy School in East Haven as Director of Youth Transitional Services. Jeanette was employed at Whitney Hall School and has worked for the Children Community Programs (CCP) for over 30 years in various therapeutic, academic and administrative capacities instituting many new and effective programs. As Director of CCP’s Therapeutic Foster Care Program, the program grew in scale and excellence quadrupling the number of families certified to provide foster care and adoption.

Interest in community service is a natural flow from her mother, Mrs. Rose Dixon’s example. During her life, “Ms. Rose” was always giving of her time and talents to church, friends, family and community. Jeanette has volunteered in many community organizations including Newhallville Community Management Team, Granville Academy, Rosa Parks Legacy/Thank You Rosa Parks, Phoenix Drill Team Reunion, African American Women’s Summit, and Sojourner Network of Democratic Women.

A lifelong member of Union Temple Baptist Church, she is currently chair of the Board Of Trustees and has served as chair of the Women’s Day Program, president of the Young People’s Christian League (YPCL), and Ministry of Wholeness. She served on the Pastoral Search Committee and chaired the Pastoral Installation. Her faith is reflected in all aspects of her life as she give fully and passionately to all her endeavors.

Jeanette’s life is the ‘perfect blend’ of community activities and achievements. Inspired by her mother, Mrs. Rose Dixon, and her faith to live a life of service and by Oprah Winfrey, she created The Perfect Blend, Inc. In 2007, inspired by the Oprah Winfrey Legends Weekend events, Jeanette founded The Perfect Blend, Inc., an umbrella organization for the Youth Leadership Program and The Legendary Women Brunch & Gala.
