We ask agents & retailers where clients are booking this summer, and the surprising destinations at the top of the list
BY CINDY SOSROUTOMO
TORONTO With kids across the country counting down the days –maybe even the minutes – until the last day of school, so too is the travel industry waiting anxiously to see how the summer season will pan out.
Travel demand for the U.S. is still down, with a recent Leger poll revealing that 56% of Canadians who were planning a trip across the border now intend to travel elsewhere amid the tariff war. This, naturally, is diverting traffic to other destinations, namely within Canada (48% of Canadians say they’re likely to travel within their home province), though the Caribbean, Europe and big bucket-list locales are also seeing major bumps in interest and bookings.
“Over the last three months, in addition to steady interest in London, Paris and Dublin, we’ve seen significant growth in bookings to Athens, Los Cabos, Copenhagen, Reykjavik, Edinburgh, Auckland and Melbourne,” Nate Mosher, travel expert for Flight Centre Canada tells Travelweek. “Today’s travellers are going further, staying longer and choosing destinations that offer cultural depth and good return on experience.”

Christine James, Vice President Canada at Travel Leaders Network, is also seeing similar upward trends. “We’re seeing a significant uptick in Europe bookings compared to last year. We’re also seeing a shift to Mexico, and the Caribbean overall is still trending ahead of last year. Due to the current environment, it’s no surprise that we’re seeing a significant decrease in U.S. bookings,” James tells Travelweek.
SURPRISING DESTINATIONS
According to Mosher, Copenhagen, Athens and Auckland are three standout surprises this summer in terms of booking volume, each seeing
a double-digit increase compared to this time last year. Copenhagen, he says, is having a “cultural moment” with its thriving foodie scene and bike-friendly infrastructure, while Athens (and lesser-known islands like Naxos and Rhodes) is benefitting from new airlift and its continued success as a cruise hub. Auckland, meanwhile, is seeing more interest from Canadians looking for longer stays in the off-peak season, with many spending layovers in Melbourne and Sydney.
What’s driving these increases? “A few things,” says Mosher. “Increased connectivity, versatility and a growing awareness of travelling responsibly. According to a recent
Flight Centre-YouGov survey, 71% of Canadians are concerned about the impacts of overtourism, while 81% say they’d swap a popular destination for a less-crowded alternative.”
James says that Travel Leaders Network is seeing s shift in cruise bookings, from the Caribbean to more Europe and the South Pacific. “Even Alaska cruises are doing well, perhaps because they depart from a Canadian gateway and clients are hesitant to travel to the U.S. right now,” she says.
WHAT AGENTS ARE BOOKING
When it comes to this summer’s most popular destinations, no one has a better pulse than front-line travel agents.
Cheri Ozimac, Senior Travel Designer and cruise specialist at Tully Luxury Travel, tells Travelweek that amid an underperforming economy, rising hotel rates and the high cost of goods, cruising – with its all-inclusive convenience – has emerged as a top choice for value. These factors are also influencing where clients are choosing to cruise.
“With all the uncertainty in the market and global issues, I’m seeing a lot more requests for closeto-home travel, such as Alaska, the Great Lakes, Mississippi river cruises and Canada & New England,” says Ozimac. “There are a lot of promotions designed to drive
business, like Canada-at-par pricing, to encourage Canadians to travel. A lot of Canadians are skipping travel to the U.S. and trying other destinations for their summer travel.”
Marianna Vogel, owner of Just for You Travel & Consulting in Dundas, Ontario, says clients are telling her upfront that they don’t want to travel anywhere near the United States. One even took a loss because “they were so adamant about not stepping foot in the country,” she says. Instead, her clients are opting to explore Canada, many by rail. “People are paying the extra money to do the Rocky Mountaineer, and many are doing road trips for a few days but not crossing the border like they used to. My Disney sales have dropped to all but zero. The whole world is waiting and seeing what will happen next with the U.S. administration.”
Scott Penney of The Travel Agent Next Door in Stewiacke, NS, also corroborates what recent survey results have shown – that clients are booking Europe and Canada in droves. “I have many repeat clients who want to go somewhere different and Europe has so many options that feel safe to visit,” he says. “Plus, there are many more promotions encouraging Canadians to stay home and explore our own backyard. Canadians have become so much more patriotic this year, and they want to support local businesses.”

River cruising and rail travel, says Penney, have seen a sharp rise in bookings in recent months. “I have booked many more river cruises this year than in any other year. I’ve received a few more last-minute inquiries but unfortunately, so many river cruises are already sold out. It really pays to book early, and many clients are already securing spots for next year,” he says. As for rail travel, Penney has booked several train journeys for clients this summer and fall, something he hasn’t booked a lot of in the past. “I think clients are looking for different ways to explore the world. Train travel opens up so many amazing and unique experiences for them,” he adds.
Gary Rams of Calgary-based Crowfoot Travel Solutions tells Travelweek that his clients are travelling further afield, with Japan and Thailand leading the surge. “Asia is coming back strong amid an increase in flights,” he says. “People are finally considering destinations that have been on their list for years.”
Noting that his bookings are “all over the map” for summer 2025, Rams adds that there has been an increase in bookings from one segment in particular: single travellers.
“I have a lot of new single clients of all ages who are looking to travel,” he says. “They’re travelling all around the world – except to the United States.”

There’s more to ‘Enjoy’ onboard VIVA Cruises’ newest ship build

BY ANNIE CICVARIC
ONBOARD VIVA ENJOY There’s more than a bit of buzz around VIVA Cruises these days, especially with the recent launch of its third newbuild in just two years, and a fourth already underway.
This emerging player, founded in 2018, is quickly gaining traction in the European river cruise market. The fleet now consists of eight ships, with more exciting expansions on the way.
And with a surging appetite for river cruising, the line is well-poised to meet the increasing demand.
Travelweek recently had the opportunity to experience the brand new Viva Enjoy on its seven-day “Sea of Tulips” itinerary, sailing roundtrip from Amsterdam.
SHE’S A BEAUTY
This vessel is distinctive. Although it’s the third new-build for VIVA Cruises, it’s also the latest addition to the line.
As a sister ship to Viva Two, the sleek Enjoy is identical in size and guest capacity, accommodating 190 guests. The ship features modern, stylish staterooms and eight suites across three deck levels.
A standout feature is the open splitlevel atrium, which creates a sense of light and spaciousness.
Viva Enjoy will be repositioned on the Danube later this year, making it her primary river and destination. The ship will also sail on the Rhine with various itineraries departing from Amsterdam.
UNIQUE SELLING FEATURE
No doubt, clients are seeking new experiences when travelling, and meeting new people from different parts of the world is part and parcel of that.
Based in Dusseldorf, VIVA has noticed a significant shift in passenger diversification in the last two years.
In speaking to Travelweek, Andrea Kruse, CEO and co-founder of VIVA Cruises, touched on some of these insights.
“As we grow, our guests are now over 50% international travellers and, by design, we anticipate this number to be over 60% by next year. Notably, our strongest growth is seen in Scandinavia, at 15%, followed by the U.S., Spain, and Israel, all at 10%,” she said.
Kruse also touched on Canada as a market focus for the company and a natural fit for VIVA. “I think Canadians would be a perfect match with a mix of multicultural backgrounds, multi-languages spoken and a general sense of openmindedness,” said Kruse.
As such, VIVA presents an appealing value proposition as a premium brand, making it a desirable option for Canadians. It includes three restaurants, an open bar, and one shore excursion at each port as part of its all-inclusive experience, along with various other amenities.
“It’s a very relaxing and calm way of cruising,” said Kruse.

“IT’S IMPORTANT WE TAKE CARE OF OUR ENVIRONMENT”
With a nod to going green, VIVA Cruises has not only embraced this goal, it’s taken it to the next level.
From solar panels to water stations and water bottles to replacing tablecloths with placemats – all are initiatives reflected on the entire VIVA fleet that help drive its sustainability efforts.
And where to go from here?
“By 2026, all Viva ships will be running on HVO biofuel,” explained Kruse. “Although it has increased our retail cost slightly, it’s the right step for our brand.”
VIVA BOUTIQUE LUXURY: BRAND WITHIN A BRAND
Next year marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for VIVA Cruises with the introduction of a luxury river cruise experience.
VIVA Boutique will offer sailings along the picturesque Seine River in France, introducing a premium division for VIVA Cruises.
As reported by Travelweek last month, Viva Beyond – based in Paris – will be the first ship set to debut for VIVA Boutique in May 2026. It promises guests an immersive and refined way to explore French culture, art, and history, all while blending elegant design with exceptional amenities.
Viva Beyond is designed to accommodate 112 guests, with over 50% of its suites offering luxury accommodation. Each suite will measure 30 square metres and feature walk-in closets along with panoramic views.
According to Kruse, “everything will be sourced locally, from entertainment to farm-to-table food options. There are so many beautiful options in France.”
The luxury line will also focus on unique and elevated land programs, offering experiences from culinary adventures to cultural explorations and beyond.

CRUISE LINES
Oceania Cruises has marked the start of construction on its new Sonata Class with a ceremonial steel cutting for Oceania Sonata at the Fincantieri shipyard in Venice. Set to debut in 2027, the ship –Oceania’s ninth overall – will be the most spacious and amenity-rich in the fleet. A second vessel, Oceania Arietta, will follow. The milestone highlights the cruise line’s longstanding partnership with Fincantieri and its continued focus on smallship luxury, culinary excellence, and destination-driven experiences. Sonata will embark on its maiden voyage in summer 2027.
Cunard has announced 195 new voyages between April 2027 and January 2028, visiting 115 destinations in 32 countries. The program features 93 UNESCO sites, 18 overnight calls, and 33 late departures. Highlights include Queen Mary 2’s first call to Charlottetown, Queen Anne’s visit to Sorrento, and Queen Elizabeth’s return to Europe with 22 new ports. Queen Victoria also features new sailings to Iceland and Scandinavia. Travellers can combine voyages aboard different ships for extended holidays across multiple regions and experiences.
DESTINATIONS
Donald Trump has announced a new U.S. travel ban targeting 12 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Haiti and Libya, with restrictions on seven more, such as Cuba and Venezuela. Citing visa overstay rates and inadequate security screening, the policy came into effect on June 9. Critics argue the move echoes Trump’s earlier controversial “Muslim ban” and unfairly targets vulnerable populations. Exceptions apply in limited cases, including Special Immigrant Visas for Afghans. Refugee and aid groups have condemned the measure as discriminatory and politically motivated.
HOTELS
Marriott International has launched Series by Marriott, a new collection brand targeting midscale and upscale lodging segments, designed to expand its global footprint by integrating strong regional brands into the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. The brand’s first partnership is with India’s Concept Hospitality Private Limited, bringing The Fern hotel portfolio of 115 properties into Marriott’s system. Series by Marriott offers comfortable, value-driven stays with regional identity and access to Marriott’s loyalty program, while exploring expansion opportunities in key markets worldwide.

What travel advisors need to know about U.S. travel ban: ACTA
TORONTO The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies & Travel Advisors (ACTA) is helping to clarify the implications of a new U.S. Executive Order signed by President Trump on June 4, 2025.
The order, which came into effect on June 9, 2025, includes a travel ban on citizens of 12 countries and imposes restrictions on visitors from seven others.
In a special bulletin, ACTA outlines the two levels of restrictions as follows:
• Full suspension of 12 countries:
– Afghanistan, Burma (Myanmar), Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen
– Complete ban on all visa types, both immigrant and non-immigrant
• Partial suspension of 7 countries:
– Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela
– All immigrant visas banned
– Specific non-immigrant visas banned: B-1/B-2 (tourism/ business), F (academic students), M (vocational students), J (exchange visitors)
– Other visa types allowed but with reduced validity periods
ACTA notes that clients must be inside the United States before this deadline to avoid restrictions. Existing valid visas issued before June 9 will not be revoked. Anyone outside the U.S. without a valid visa on June 9 will be subject to the ban.
Dual nationals are exempt if travelling on a passport from a non-banned country. For example, an IranianCanadian travelling on a Canadian passport is allowed, an IranianCanadian travelling on an Iranian passport is prohibited, a HaitianCanadian travelling on a Canadian passport is allowed, and a CubanCanadian travelling on a Canadian passport is allowed. The passport used for travel determines eligibility –not the person’s nationalities.
WHO IS NOT AFFECTED
The ban does not apply to:
• US lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders)
• People already inside the US
• Holders of valid visas issued before June 9, 2025
• Diplomatic visa holders (A-1, A-2, G visas, NATO visas)
• Athletes/teams traveling for major sporting events
• Certain family-based immigrant visas
TRANSIT & CRUISE PASSENGERS
The ban applies even when transiting through U.S. airports. Affected nationals cannot transit through the U.S. to reach other destinations.
Cruises with U.S. ports will also be impacted. Affected nationals may be denied boarding even if the cruise doesn’t originate in the U.S.
PRE-EXISTING BOOKINGS
ACTA recommends reviewing force majeure clauses and travel insurance policies. The ban may qualify as a covered reason for cancellation.

HELSINKI — Finnair has announced its newest destination: Canada Specifically, Toronto, with new direct flights to Helsinki scheduled to begin May 4, 2026.
The new route is part of the airline’s transatlantic expansion and will mark the only direct connection between Canada and Finland.
The route will operate three times per week during the summer season on A330 aircraft, featuring Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy.
Flights are scheduled to depart Toronto Pearson each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11:40 p.m., arriving into Helsinki at 2:45 p.m. the following afternoon.
On the return, flights will depart Helsinki each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 4:50 p.m., arriving into Toronto at 6:35 p.m.
The route marks the first time Finnair has flown to Canada in over a decade, having last served Toronto in 2015.
Javier Roig Sanchez, Finnair’s GM, North America, says the new route will open up Canada to unserved cities across the Nordics and Baltics, including Tromsø, Tallinn and Bergen. Major cities across Europe will also become more accessible, including Berlin, Copenhagen, Rome and Warsaw.

Those travelling from Canada to India can also make use of the new service, with flights from Toronto timed to allow connections onto Finnair’s daily Delhi route.
“As may travellers head off on their summer vacations, here at Finnair, we are already looking towards 2026, and are excited to have announced Canada as our newest destination from May next year,” said Roig Sanchez.
“Offering the only direct connection between the two nations, our route from Toronto to Helsinki signals our commitment to the North American market, and the importance this plays in Finnair’s business,” he added.

Virgin Atlantic, Delta, Air France-KLM and IndiGo ramp up connectivity
DELHI IndiGo, Delta Air Lines, Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic are working together on a partnership to facilitate more connections between India and Europe and North America, with ambitions to grow to a global scale.
IndiGo’s extensive domestic network will be linked with Delta’s strength in North America and the transatlantic, the extensive reach of Air FranceKLM in Europe and North America, and the U.K. and transatlantic presence of Virgin Atlantic.
Linking dozens of cities in the U.S., Canada, Europe and India, the airlines aim to meet rising demand for international travel while setting new standards for connectivity and cooperation in global aviation.
Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, said the carrier aims to become a global airline by 2030, and says this recent announcement not only expands IndiGo’s relationship with Air France–KLM and Virgin Atlantic but also marks the beginning of a new chapter with Delta as a partner.
“We are particularly excited to start our long-haul expansion from this summer and connect with our partners’ networks to provide greater access to Europe and North America. This strategic partnership enables a compelling combined customer proposition in the form of comprehensive intercontinental connectivity, seamless experience and great loyalty value,” said Elbers.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian, said the agreement “is another example of our commitment to making travel more connected, more inclusive and more accessible,” while Air FranceKLM’s CEO Benjamin Smith noted that India is a strategic market for Air France-KLM, “where we have a strong and historic presence soon to increase.”
This year marks Virgin Atlantic’s 25th anniversary of flights into India. Since first launching flights between London Heathrow and Delhi in July 2000, India is now Virgin Atlantic’s third largest market and has grown from zero to one million seats each year, with five flights daily to Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Shai Weiss, CEO, Virgin Atlantic, said: “In our 25th year of flying to India, we’re delighted to build on our joint venture with Delta and Air FranceKLM, and our successful codeshare with IndiGo, by going further with this partnership. As IndiGo starts long haul operations, we’ll connect four of the world’s largest economies, enhancing the travel experience for our guests, from greater connectivity and optimized flight times to loyalty benefits.”
IndiGo recently announced the start of service to Europe, which, in addition to expanding the existing partnership with Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic transatlantic flights, facilitates a new partnership opportunity between IndiGo and Delta.
Down the line, flight connectivity with IndiGo will include:
• KLM flights from Amsterdam to 30 points within Europe
• Virgin Atlantic flights from Manchester to the U.S.
• Delta and KLM flights from Amsterdam to the U.S. and Canada

Leger poll tracks the latest U.S. travel intentions from Canada, while Air Canada’s Rousseau talks demand
TORONTO Although overall summer travel intentions are strong, interest in U.S.-bound travel this summer is “collapsing,” according to the results of a just-released Leger poll.
The online survey polled 1,537 Canadian residents 18 years and older.
“The U.S tariff backlash is real,” notes Leger, with more than seven in 10 Canadians saying they’re less likely to visit the U.S. throughout 2025 compared to last year.
Domestic tourism intentions are soaring as more Canadians plan local or interprovincial trips, and international travel intentions are up too.
Here’s a look at some of Leger’s findings, from the May 16-19 survey:
• Summer travel intention is surging among Canadians in 2025. Over half (55%) plan to take a leisure trip this summer, which is up significantly from 47% who planned to travel in summer 2024.
• Although overall summer travel intentions are strong, interest in U.S.-bound travel this summer is collapsing. Only 10% plan to travel to the U.S. this summer, down sharply from 23% last year. In contrast, domestic travel intentions are soaring, with 77% of travellers planning to stay within Canada (up from 69% in 2024).
• Canadians are increasingly choosing to explore their own backyard this summer. Compared to before tariffs were introduced, more Canadians are likely to travel within their home province (48% vs. 38% pre-tariffs) or to another Canadian province (42%, up from 30%). Atlantic Canadians lead in overall domestic travel intent this summer (94%), especially for trips outside their provinces (60%).
• The U.S tariff backlash is real. Three-quarters (75%) of Canadians who were planning a trip to the U.S. say the tariff announcements have influenced their plans, and over half (56%) who had planned to visit the U.S. now intend to travel elsewhere.
“NOT A TREMENDOUSLY LARGE IMPACT”
Meanwhile Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau told CNBC that while the airline’s bookings to the U.S. are still down, they’re trending up relative to where they were earlier this spring.
In a CNBC Market Alert segment, Rousseau said: “Our U.S. bookings over the next six months are down about 10%. The U.S. is about 22% of
our overall business. [So for] us it’s not a tremendously large impact.”
At the start of last month, on Air Canada’s Q1 conference call, the airline pegged the drop in U.S. bookings in the low teens.
Rousseau also told CNBC the situation has been improving recently: “What’s happening in the past couple of weeks is that bookings are getting slightly better. Still a negative, but they’re better than negative 10%.”
He added: “I think what a lot of people read [about] is [crossborder] traffic on the roads, which is down more than the air traffic. Business traffic to the U.S. is still strong. It’s primarily leisure traffic that declined, to markets like Florida, Las Vegas, Arizona … those customers are [making their decisions in the wake of] the rhetoric between the two countries, and also the exchange rate.”
Rousseau was asked if Air Canada had adjusted any frequencies, in light of 10% drop in U.S. bookings. “We haven’t cancelled any cities,” he said. “There are seasonal adjustments that we make. Instead of flying a plane that has 165 seats, we night fly a plane that has 130 seats. So we’re still maintaining access to that market, but maybe with a smaller plane, and maybe not 5x a day, maybe 3x or 4x a day. And we put those planes into Canada or the Caribbean.”
Rousseau noted that Air Canada is the biggest carrier that flies into the U.S., to more than 50 cities.
BUSINESS TRAFFIC TO THE U.S. IS STILL STRONG. IT’S PRIMARILY LEISURE TRAFFIC THAT DECLINED.

Turkish Airlines honours top Canadian agencies at Toronto gala
TORONTO Turkish Airlines hosted its Turkish Airlines Agency Awards recently, bringing together the Canadian travel trade to celebrate a year of standout achievements, record-setting airlift and 15 years of nonstop service between Toronto and Istanbul.
Taking place on June 2, 2025, at the Design Exchange in downtown Toronto, the gala evening included a cocktail reception, live music and a three-course dinner, culminating with an awards presentation that recognized the airline’s top-producing agencies.
Executives from Turkish Airlines’ Istanbul head office joined local team members to express appreciation to Canadian partners for a year that saw passenger traffic between Canada and Turkey grow by 15%, with Turkish Airlines carrying 41% of those travellers.
“Tonight, we celebrate excellence,” said Fatih Durmaz, Turkish Airlines’ Vice President for the Americas, in his keynote address. “2024 has been a record-setting year for us. For the first time ever, we operated daily summer flights from Toronto to Istanbul – and our added frequencies achieved a 92% load factor. These are not just numbers; they are indicators of growing demand, of strong trust, and of our shared success.”
Durmaz also confirmed the airline has submitted a formal request to increase frequencies to Toronto, emphasizing the strategic importance of Canada within Turkish Airlines’ global network. Currently, Turkish Airlines operates 12 weekly flights

from Canada – servicing Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver – and offers its popular stopover program in Istanbul: two overnights in a hotel for economy passengers, and three overnights for business class.
The event also marked the 15th anniversary of Turkish Airlines’ inaugural Toronto-Istanbul service.
“For 15 years, Turkish Airlines has proudly served as a bridge between Canada and Europe – not just with flights, but through relationships, cultural exchange, commerce and community,” Durmaz said.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Airlines Agency Awards, recognizing top-performing travel partners from across Canada. From exceptional sales growth to long-standing commitment to promoting Turkey as a destination and selling Turkish Airlines, the winners represent the strength and dedication of the Canadian travel trade.
Here are last night’s winners:

G Adventures’ polar expeditions will double this summer
TORONTO G Adventures is set to double its polar expedition capacity by July, following the announcement of its newly chartered expedition ship, which begins sailing in Antarctica this October.
The adventure operator’s expanded small-ship portfolio begins with the relaunch of its Arctic programme – its first return to the region since 2019 – and includes new itineraries across the Arctic Circle and Scottish Isles in the coming weeks.
Four Arctic itineraries offering 10 departures are now available to book. These trips are designed to immerse travellers in remote wilderness, with wildlife viewing opportunities that may include polar bears, whales, walruses, arctic foxes, seals, puffins and a wide variety of seabirds. Educational programming with onboard experts, polar plunges and the tranquil beauty of the tundra and midnight sun enhance the experience.
In addition to Arctic sailings, five new itineraries exploring Scotland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Labrador will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Onboard experts – ranging from a marine biologist to a geologist and ornithologist – will deliver lectures and excursions designed to create a ‘floating classroom’ atmosphere. Smaller ship size allows for daily landings and zodiac outings, weather permitting, which are not typically possible on larger vessels. Guests can relax in the restaurant, lounge in the bar, unwind in comfortable cabins, or soak in the view from the sun deck or jacuzzi.

This relaunch follows G Adventures’ announcement of a newly refurbished expedition vessel, Expedition, which will host 128 guests in Antarctica beginning October 2025. The ship has undergone major renovations, including new engines, making it significantly more fuel-efficient. It will transition to Arctic expeditions in spring 2026.
New expedition itineraries now open for booking include:
• Realm of the Polar Bear: An eight-day adventure through Norway’s Svalbard archipelago, where travellers can navigate ice floes, observe unique wildlife like Svalbard reindeer and arctic foxes, and participate in polar plunges and zodiac outings. Expert-led talks provide deeper insights into the region.
• Arctic Highlights: This 15-day itinerary combines the stark beauty of Northwest Spitsbergen National Park with the Greenland Sea’s rich marine life. Highlights include blue and humpback whale sightings, a visit to the remote Ittoqqortoormiit settlement, and onboard lectures covering birdwatching, marine biology and more.
• Antarctica Classic: Spanning 11 days, this voyage features the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula. Travellers encounter penguins, whales and striking landscapes, with regular zodiac excursions and lectures from onboard experts.
• Spirit of Shackleton: A 21-day sailing that explores Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands, this itinerary follows the route of legendary explorer Ernest Shackleton. Travellers will visit historical sites, wildlife-rich areas, and Shackleton’s final resting place in South Georgia, with daily excursions that bring the icy wilderness up close.
All Arctic departures begin in June 2026, while the Antarctica sailings begin in October 2025.

SIMPLIFY YOUR DAY. AMPLIFY DELIGHT.
Offer your clients an unparalleled travel experience with the first 6 star slow luxury cruises.
On the Riverside Luxury Cruises, they’ll experience Europe’s most beautiful rivers while enjoying luxurious relaxation, fascinating destinations, and exceptional culinary delights.

River cruising for all ages: Why multi-gen groups thrive on Riverside
River cruising hasn’t traditionally been positioned as family friendly – but Riverside Luxury Cruises begs to differ.
“Riverside offers an ideal experience for affluent, savvy, multi-gen travellers. There is no easier way to see Europe while catering to different ages, interests and travel experience,” says Jennifer Halboth, CEO, Riverside Collection Americas.
“Driving through Europe, or taking trains with the family in tow, will simply steal time away from your precious vacation. Instead, book a Riverside cruise, unpack once – extra important with kids in the mix – and let the crew cater to your family while you discover multiple cities and countries together in an easy yet luxurious trip,” she adds.
Many river cruise lines have a minimum age limit, if they allow kids at all. Not so for Riverside, says Halboth.
“This is by design. We don’t have a minimum age limit because we want to say yes to every family that wants to experience Europe in the uniquely Riverside way,” she says.
Each ship has connecting suites available, ideal for a family of four. Larger suites can accommodate a cot or a crib (upon request), and a third person staying in the same room travels for a 40% discount, with no charge for children under the age of two.
Every port includes excursions that range from more traditional (walking tours), to immersive (visiting the chocolate museum in Cologne and attending cooking classes) to active (biking, hiking and kayaking).
Onboard, many of the included amenities on Riverside’s fleet appeal to kids and adults alike.
An indoor pool on each ship is shallow, making it ideal for kids, yet has resistance jets for those who want to get some laps in. There’s also a fleet of bikes (a mix of regular and e-bikes), available to all guests.
Bubble waffles are made fresh and served all day in the Atelier with a wide variety of toppings to choose from. Each ship also features an ice cream counter in the Atelier space, plus there’s a buffet (switched out once per day
from breakfast to lunch items) available in Atelier all day long.
Riverside is one of the few river cruise line to offer 24-hour room service. Older kids can get cozy in their robes and slippers (included in every suite category) and do dinner and a movie in the suite while parents enjoy a quiet dinner in the restaurant.
Best of all, popcorn is available at the bar every night before happy hour – a draw for travellers of all ages, from kids to grandparents.
The most popular itineraries for multi-generational groups are Christmas Market sailings in November and December, says Halboth.
Travel advisors can register and book their luxury clients through the brand’s dedicated partner portal at www. Riverside-Cruises.com/TA.

TORONTO Direct Travel has announced a significant upgrade to its exclusive Direct Tracker commission tracking tool.
Designed to streamline the business operations of over 800 travel advisors across the U.S. and Canada, the newly-enhanced Direct Tracker now offers full data download capabilities.

Available 24/7, Direct Tracker provides a comprehensive overview of monthly production by travel category — including air, hotel, cruise, and other commissionable ancillary sales, giving advisors greater transparency and control over their business performance.
“This enhanced ability to recover unclaimed commissions is a gamechanger in our industry,” says Joelle Goldman, Direct Travel’s Vice President of Host Services & Luxury Hotel Programs in North America. She adds: “Our goal is to help our advisors to focus more on curating unforgettable experiences and less on administrative tasks.”

Pathways of the World’s Tunisia trip “unforgettable”, say agents
MONTREAL Pathways of the World – Sentiers du monde (POTW - SDM), in collaboration with the Tunisian National Tourist Office (ONTT), recently treated top-performing travel advisors and employees from tripvoyage.ca and tripcentral.
ca to an unforgettable immersive experience in Tunisia.
Pierre Couture, President of POTW - SDM, said the goal was to acknowledge the outstanding performances from the teams, and at the same time offer a first-hand experience in a destination still largely unknown to many Canadians outside of Quebec.
“Tunisia is a fabulous destination, but still widely under the radar for most Canadians outside Quebec.
It was the perfect time to introduce it to influential travel professionals,” said Couture. “Our goal wasn’t just to reward, but to inspire. These agents are the bridge between our tours and the travellers. By allowing them to live the experience firsthand, we’re giving them the tools to tell better stories, sell more effectively, and dream bigger.”
Thanks to the partnership with the ONTT, the agents enjoyed an authentic, culturally rich and surprise-filled experience, he added.
Pathways of the World (and its French-language counterpart, Sentiers du Monde) specializes in cultural and immersive tours for small groups or private travel. The companies have been crafting rich and authentic travel experiences around the globe for over 13 years.
“SIMPLY UNFORGETTABLE”
Over nine days, the top performers explored the best of Tunisia, from
TUNISIA IS A FABULOUS DESTINATION, BUT STILL WIDELY UNDER THE RADAR FOR MOST CANADIANS OUTSIDE QUEBEC.
the bustling medina of Sousse and the colosseum of El Jem to the troglodyte homes of Matmata, the ksour of Tataouine, and the desert dunes of Ksar Ghilane.
The trip also featured a night under the stars in a Saharan camp, a 4x4
expedition to the mountain oases of Chebika, a visit to the Star Wars set at Ong Jmel, and walks through the medina of Tunis and the village of Sidi Bou Saïd. Each stop blended heritage, meaningful encounters and smooth logistics: “a true showcase of POTW –SDM’s expertise.”
Participants raved about the trip. Said Louise Endean of tripcentral.ca: “From the moment we arrived, the trip organized by POTW - SDM was simply unforgettable. Every detail was thoughtfully planned – immersive and exhilarating. Each stop was a deep dive into Tunisia’s history and culture. Our guides were phenomenal: present, passionate, and always attentive. This journey will stay with me forever, and I’m already excited for my next adventure with Pathways of the World!”
