PROGRAMME FOR OCTOBER 2009 UPPER CLUTHA TRAMPING CLUB - WINTER WALKS 2014 Winter walks take place on the 1st Saturday and 3rd Sunday of each month, finishing on 21st September. Interested people need only to turn up on the day at 8.30 am at the Pembroke Car Park. They must bring lunch (including thermos), warm weatherproof clothing, sunglasses, sturdy boots and car pool petrol donation. All walks are graded easy-medium, usually no longer than 5 hours and within a one hour drive from Wanaka. The destination is often only decided a few days prior in order to accommodate weather and conditions. Winter walks are quite sociable trips and we have been known to stop for a coffee on the way home. Non-members are always welcome. On Saturday 3rd May we are having an” Open Day” for the Club. We will be tramping/walking to the Meg Hut in the Cardrona Valley. This is a walk of 3-4 hours to the hut where we will have lunch of hot soup, buns, billy tea and biscuits supplied by the Club. The full summer programme starts in October. Club nights occur on the second Wednesday of each month at the Wanaka Yacht Club on Lakeside Road, Wanaka. For further information about WINTER WALKS or the Upper Clutha Tramping Club in general, please contact Karen Marinkovic – President and Winter Walks Coordinator : tel. 443 7409 or refer to the club website www.uctcwanaka.blogspot.co.nz.
