Yes, Stars in Your Eyes is back and with an all-new look! Wānaka’s longest-running local music show returns to the Lake Wānaka Centre from Wednesday, 24 to Saturday, 27 September. With thirty seasons behind it, Stars in Your Eyes showcases a diverse range of exceptional local talent, with proceeds supporting music education in the Upper Clutha region, making it a feel-good event in more ways than one. As always, there is something for everyone, with songs ranging from classic love, to rock, country, pop and show anthems from soloists, duos, trios and bands - not to mention an epic grand finale with everyone on stage.
There are lots of fresh faces amongst the stars, the band and not least the creative team. This season
welcomes new director Anna Shaw, who brings a wealth of experience and fresh creative vision to the stage. Alongside her is a dynamic mix of new and returning talent and an all-star house band: Aaron Hosking (bass), Chris Tubb (guitar), Marco Bjorck (guest sax), David Baker (keys), Cassie Donald and Janet Dolan (backing vocals), and Rick Shaw (guitar). Not pictured are Gavin Lang (drums), Johanna Hansen (backing vocals), and of course another twenty-one stars, including many new faces whose identities remain a closely guarded secret. There might also be another guest musician or two - you’ll have to wait and see.

The HiveEnergy Challenge Wānaka Multi & Duathlon - and two of New Zealand’s most formidable athletes, Simone Maier and Hamish Elliot, are back to lead The Multi eld. Maier, heading into her fth Challenge, has claimed victories in every edition she’s raced in: 2024, 2023, 2021 and 2020, while Elliot is chasing a remarkable fourth consecutive win after topping the podium in 2024, 2023 and 2022. The Multi takes competitors through
a 25km kayak, 43km mountain bike, and 14km trail run, showcasing some of the region’s most breathtaking landscapes.
For anyone considering a great early-season challenge, the Duathlon provides the perfect option: skip the paddle and take on the 43km ride followed by the 14km run - an achievable and rewarding challenge for athletes of all levels.

Upper Cluth Lions Lily Selling Fundraiser
Upper Clutha Lions are again selling Lily Bulbs as a fundraiser. We have 15 di erent coloured lilies available, and each colour is sold in a pack of four bulbs for $15.
This year we have two lilies’ available that don’t have pollen (good for those with allergies) and they are: Kadango and White Tornado and they are also doubles.
Many gardens throughout the Upper Clutha have these lilies in them and we are constantly told of how amazing the owering cycle is. You can order these either at the Community Hub (we have brochures and order forms there), and orders must be in before 10 September. Delivery
will be approximately the end of September. They come ready to plant and some will even ower by Christmas (however they are not Christmas Lilies).
All money raised goes back into the local community. We sponsor two senior students from MAC every year to attend a Leadership Course at Borland Lodge, Aspiring Gymnastics Club members for expenses to enter competitions, St John for Paramedics training, various individuals and team sports groups, local Plunket group, seniors movies afternoons.

Masters Learn To Row
Wanaka Rowing Club is running a six week Masters Learn To Row Program commencing Sunday, Sep 14 2025.
If you are aged 27 and over, can commit to a 6 am start on Wednesdays and Fridays and a leisurely 9 am start on Sundays then grab a few friends and join us. We may need to restrict numbers so sign up quickly. This is an introductory course where the goal is to teach you to row well enough to gain an appreciation of the sport. The club will provide tuition and all equipment. The cost of the course is $ 200.00 per person which will go towards your full membership cost if you choose to continue rowing with the club. We are also interested in developing Club rowers for those who want to be competitive.
If you are aged 27 or over, can commit to 6:00am starts on Wednesday or Friday and a more leisurely start of 7:30am on a Sunday morning, then come and join us. Numbers may be restricted so please sign up quickly to avoid disappointment!
