Wanaka Wearable Creations Returns in 2026

After a decade-long absence, the much-loved Wanaka Wearable Creations Show is set to return, bringing a fresh wave of creativity and community spirit to the region. Organised by the Wanaka Wearables Charitable Trust, the show will run across four performances from 20 to 23 May 2026. The Trust is now calling for expressions of interest from those keen to take part. Applications are open until 31 August, and interested creators can email wanakawearables@gmail.com to receive an application form.

Unlike a traditional competition, there are no set categories and no prize money. Instead, the focus is on storytelling, expression, and community engagement. Entrants are encouraged to craft a wearable creation that shares their personal narrative - unrestricted by rules, and powered by imagination and ingenuity.

DEADLINES

Line ads – 11.59pm Mondays

As a charitable trust, the organisation aims to promote and support the creative and amateur arts community across the Queenstown Lakes District. There is also a strong emphasis on sustainability, encouraging participants to use recycled or upcycled materials. The event also provides educational opportunities for local children to explore the world of wearable art.

With excitement already building, organisers are expecting high interest. Places are limited, so early application is recommended.
