It is all go at the construction site of our new Wanaka Community Hub. Drive past the corner of Brownston and McDougall Street and you will see plenty of action: framing up, joinery in and now the roof completed. To celebrate this, the Trust is hosting an Open Day on Saturday April 27th from 10am-2pm for everyone in the community. We would love to see everyone there. It isn’t until you actually come and see the place that you can really understand its size, architectural style and just how truly beneficial this hub will be for the community at large. The day will commence at 10am with a karakia. Trustees will be on site to show everyone around the building and explain the different areas. Coffee and a sausage sizzle will be offered in the “garden to be”.
This is a great opportunity to come and see Wanaka’s first real community hub. It is your building. It will house social services, arts and music clubs, meeting and conference rooms and an auditorium for functions. It is a personal aim that every resident in the community will have a reason to visit at least once in the hub’s first year of operation. A total of $2.9 million has been raised to date including a significant grant from Central Lakes Trust (CLT). There is still another $900,000 to go – go to our Facebook page for more information!
