high-energy rock funk
Genre Fluid tours 20 small New Zealand towns in March 2024, with the help of Arts On Tour
NZ and Creative Queenstown, showcasing their stunning fusion of contemporary music and theatre. Playing in Arrrowtown on Wednesday 20 March @7.30pm at Arrowtown Atheneum Hall, With their unique synergy on stage, the Nelson-based duo perform a combination of high-energy rock funk anthems and improvised acts, morphing style, sound and character into a captivating experience for all ages to groove and be moved. The show will be split into two halves with the first being delivered predominately as improvised songs and sonic landscapes using guitar, drum machine, and vocals. The second set will be a selection of songs from their debut album, ‘The Groova Meista’, released in April 2023.
The duo consists of Wellington-born vocalist and performance artist, Silk Satin Suede, and Nelson-born multi-instrumentalist and looping artist, Bosho. Their journey began in 2020 where they quickly found a synergy within improvised music in Bo’s jam room in Nelson, both artists being heavily inspired by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Talking Heads and Fat Freddy’s Drop.
Genre Fluid’s engaging theatrical street performances found them early local success and they became well recognised for their creative musicality in live looping, improvisation, theatrics, humour, and their ability to adapt to all environments, making them an act well-loved by all ages. This has led them to playing on festival stages and opening for legendary Kiwi artists such as Julia Deans, Mako Road, The Narcs and Albi & The Wolves.
Genre Fluid is a fusion of contemporary music and theatre performed with a unique synergy of style, sound and character, delivering a captivating combination of high-energy rock funk anthems and improvised acts.
There will be a bar service available at the show. Tickets are $20 from www.humantix.com, or email thelooparrowtown@gmail.com to go in the draw to win two tickets.

AVA . Our Facebook page was the strongest source of information for members and the community with 58% accessing it and 42% via monthly articles in The Loop.
membership donation
We also explored the idea of voluntary donation for membership. This would help the AVA pay for running costs as well as the costs of holding public meetings. 40% indicated that $25 would be an appropriate donation. With 23% and 25% suggesting $15 and $50 respectively. Only 10% wanting it to remain free. Arrowtown's Stalwart Guardians: A Tribute to Our Retiring Volunteer Firefighters
With a combined service spanning an impressive 119 years, Garry Hall, Russell Foster, Greg Potter, and Anthony O'Connor have dedicated the better part of their lives to protecting our community through the Arrowtown Volunteer Fire Brigade.
Since 1985, Garry Hall has been a steadfast presence in our brigade, serving for an incredible 38 years, 8 of those as Fire Chief. Russell Foster joined in 1987, lending his expertise and commitment for 36 years. Greg Potter's tenure, beginning in 1996, saw 27 years of unwavering service, while Anthony O'Connor's 18-year dedication since 2005 has been nothing short of exemplary.
These individuals have been the backbone of our brigade, embodying the values of courage, sacrifice, and service with every call they answered. Their collective experience, wisdom, and leadership have guided us through some of our community's most challenging moments, ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.
As they retire from active duty, we extend our deepest gratitude to Garry, Russell, Greg, and Anthony. Their legacy of selflessness and dedication will forever inspire us, reminding us of the extraordinary impact one can make through service to others.
Arrowtown owes a debt of gratitude to these remarkable individuals, whose contributions will be felt for generations to come. We wish them all the best in their well-deserved retirement, knowing that their spirit will always remain a cherished part of our brigade's history.
Thank you, Garry, Russell, Greg, and Anthony, for your unwavering dedication and service. Your legacy will continue to shine brightly in the heart of Arrowtown.
