JUV’AE COMMUNITY:

Unmatched Culture in Cosmetic Nursing

Inside Juv’ae’s boutique approach to cosmetic nursing and the women redefining what support truly means in this industry.

At the heart of Australia’s most trusted cosmetic nursing companies stands a leadership team unlike any other.

Juv’ae is not a tech platform or just another supply chain, it’s a movement; A powerhouse community led by three dynamic women who blend vision, vigilance, and values to create a business model that has redefined what it means to belong in cosmetic medicine. Their unique strengths and uncompromising standards have shaped Juv’ae’s boutique approach: one that prioritises personalised support, rigorous compliance, meaningful education, and most notably an unmatched culture nurses can’t stop talking about.

The Secret Ingredient: Culture

In an industry that can sometimes feel isolating, competitive, or transactional, Juv’ae has fostered something altogether different: a thriving, values-led community of like-minded professionals committed to seeing each other rise.

“There’s a real community within the Juv’ae network,” shares Kira, a Juv’ae nurse. “The generosity, the knowledgesharing, it’s not competitive, it’s collaborative. You feel like part of a family.”

Sammra, another nurse, echoes this sentiment, “What drew me to Juv’ae was the support. I’d been researching for over a year, and what stood out was their community. It was real.”

For Matthew, a long-time cosmetic nurse, the difference is clear, “It’s the culture and leadership. They create a sense of belonging and welcomeness. I know I’m not the only one who feels this.”

From group chats and hands-on training events to peer mentoring and phone calls from the directors themselves, Juv’ae creates space for connection, encouragement, and collective growth. It’s not just a professional network. It’s a home.

“When you lead with compliance, you create a community that feels safe to practise,” says Jacinta King, Director of Nursing, Leadership & Strategy. “Safety builds confidence and confidence empowers nurses to thrive.”

The Science of Belonging

Juv’ae’s founders knew instinctively what science now confirms: people grow faster and achieve more when they feel like they belong. A study published in the Harvard Business Review found that a high sense of belonging can lead to a 56% increase in job performance, a 50% reduction in turnover risk, and a 75% decrease in sick days. This is particularly powerful in healthcare, where community connection directly impacts wellbeing and patient care outcomes.

Psychologist and author, Brené Brown, says it best, “True belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are. It requires you to be who you are.” and that’s exactly what Juv’ae nurses are empowered to do.

KOLs Take Notice

It’s not just the nurses who notice this powerful culture.

International Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and industry educators often leave Juv’ae conferences moved by what they’ve witnessed.

Melissa Isaia, fellow Co-Founder, agrees, “Building this culture is the single proudest achievement of our careers. It’s the heartbeat of Juv’ae.”

“When presenting to our community, KOLs are often struck by the clinical depth of our community, as well as the genuine warmth and support they experience, something many say is unique to Juv’ae”

– Nicole Schmid-Sanele, Juv’ae Co-Founder

Compliance by Design: Juv’ae360, powered by DappleOS™ To strengthen clinical practice, streamline operations and enable compliance, Juv’ae will be rolling out Juv’ae360, powered by DappleOS, a fully integrated patient management system purpose-built for the aesthetics industry.

“We introduced Juv’ae360 as a growth tool for our entire community,” says Melissa Isaia, Co-Founder.

“It’s a game changer, allowing nurses to work smarter, grow faster, and deliver safer, more structured care.”

With Juv’ae360, every aspect of clinic life is connected:

• Structured treatment planning drives consistency and compliance to improve retention and long-term profitability.

• Smart documentation captures notes, consents, images and injectable markings with seamless precision.

• Automated S4 Drug Book, audit trails and batch tracking make regulatory readiness effortless.

Juv’ae nurses now manage every touch point from drawing product to scanning barcodes and recording expiry dates in one secure, encrypted system. There is more time for patients, less time on paperwork, and a digital standard of care that matches Juv’ae’s clinical excellence.

Leading with Heart

At Juv’ae, success isn’t defined by sales figures or prestige. It’s defined by connection. Deeper than just a product provider or a training course, Juv’ae is where boutique service meets powerhouse leadership.

“Having joined Juv’ae, I felt that they really had my back,” Leolit adds. “There was always someone to call. That kind of support is rare and it made all the difference.”

Juv’ae is more than a business model, it’s a blueprint for how community, culture, and care can change lives.

“With DappleOS, we’ve bridged the gap between care, compliance, and clinic growth. It’s not just protecting the nurse, it’s elevating the entire patient experience.”

– Melissa Isaia, Juv’ae Co-Founder

Editor’s Letter

Welcome to the second half of 2025, can you believe we’re here already?

The past few months have flown by, packed with events, new technologies, and countless conversations with some of the most forward-thinking minds in aesthetics and wellness. As always, we’re here to share what’s resonating, what’s working, and what’s next.

On page 46, we shine a spotlight on Dr Samantha Davidson and Dermal Clinician Tahlia Cusack, the dynamic duo behind Gold Coast Dermatology Clinic, who share how the Alma Harmony has become their go-to device. It’s streamlined their workflow, supported their patient-first philosophy, and delivered standout results.

From there, we pivot to marketing. With the world now driven by algorithms, we felt it was time for an SEO update on page 40. Learn essential DIY solutions to enhance your brand power with TAG General Manger, Andrew Moroney. On pages 42–43, Dr Joseph Heick reminds us of the power of word-of-mouth in a digital world, while we offer practical insights to help you keep momentum strong, even in slower seasons.

And finally, with recent regulatory changes still rippling through the industry, we’ve noticed a collective pause, a moment of reflection. Is it time to upskill? Future-proof your practice? From page 28, we explore what further education could look like, and how it might help you stay ahead.

Here’s to learning, adapting, and evolving together.

THREE TECHNOLOGIES IN ONE DEVICE FAT l MUSCLE l SKIN & CELLULITE

Discover the best in spa and aesthetics, personally tested by

Cowper, Partnerships Manager tried DoubleTite Treatment at Dr Cosima’s Clinic

I feel so lucky in my role to experience some of the latest and most exciting treatments to hit our shores, especially when they come straight from K-Beauty central: Korea. One of the most recent innovations I tried is the DoubleTite treatment at Dr. Cosima’s clinic, the first in Australia to offer this advanced device.

DoubleTite is a Korean-made technology that combines RF (radiofrequency) energy with microinjections for a dual-action approach to skin rejuvenation. It targets both the papillary and reticular dermis layers, giving a more comprehensive treatment. For my session, we used Rejuran,(from Korea too) well-known for its skin-repairing and regenerative benefits.

the SPA+CLINIC team.

Not going to lie, it was a little spicy! I’d rate the discomfort about a 5 out of 10, but it was absolutely manageable with numbing cream. What really stood out was how precisely the device could be used, even right up close to the eyes, perfect for addressing fine lines and delicate under-eye texture.

Post-treatment, I was quite red for a few hours, but that quickly settled. My skin already feels more hydrated and subtly firmer. The recommended protocol is three treatments spaced four weeks apart, and I’m looking forward to seeing the results build with each session.

This next-gen, minimally invasive skin-tightening treatment that also delivers powerful actives deep into the skin in a game changer.

Kym Cowper, Partnerships Manager tried Sylfirm X at Cronulla Cosmetic Medicine

It’s always worth the trip to Cronulla to visit Dr Pete Ryan at Cronulla Cosmetic Medicine, and this time, I was in a rush to try out their latest device: Sylfirm X, distributed by Laseraid. I was also excited to meet Brady, who’s been achieving brilliant results with her clients across all age groups in the Shire, particularly those dealing with sun damage, which is something I can definitely relate to.

With significant sun damage on my arms, I was keen to have Brady treat me using the Sylfirm X, which combines pulsed wave (PW) and continuous wave (CW) radiofrequency in a microneedling system. What sets this device apart is its selective coagulation technology, delivered through bi-polar, non-insulated 300-micron gold microneedles. This generates therapeutic electromagnetic fields within the skin’s layers, effectively targeting pigmentation, vascular issues, and skin laxity.

Post-treatment, my skin felt tighter, and I noticed early improvements in evenness and texture, especially across my arms and forearms. I’ll need a few more sessions to truly address the pigment buildup from years of sun exposure, but I’m already impressed with the progress.

Stephanie McLean, Managing editor tried: Beetox Method

Lymphatic drainage treatments are having a serious moment right now, but not all are created equal. So when I discovered a veteran practitioner was just around the corner from my home in Melbourne, I had to check it out.

Bee Czarnota is the founder of The BEETOX Method™, a boutique lymphatic clinic tucked away in a secluded penthouse in Beaumaris. She offers holistic face and body treatments that start long before you even step inside.

Bee provides a simple yet thorough pre-treatment guide: plenty of water, a light meal, and a heads-up to avoid alcohol and processed foods. You’re also encouraged to wear a tracksuit to avoid restricting lymph flow, something I appreciated more than I expected.

Unlike many body treatments, this one starts, and stays, on your back, with legs elevated and eyes gently covered. Bee explains that this positioning helps guide lymphatic fluid toward the front of the body, where key lymph nodes are located. From the moment she begins, it’s clear Bee knows her stuff. She starts by clearing the centre of the body before moving outward, dry brushing first, followed by impossibly light, rhythmic strokes.

She then hands over to April, whose technique is nothing short of hypnotic. Her touch blends slow, rhythmic effleurage with gentle palpation along the décolletage, underarms, and inner thighs, key areas for stimulating lymphatic flow and filtration.

The standout for me was the abdominal work. April’s use of light cupping and diaphragm release brought an unexpected sense of relief, especially after weeks of feeling tight and congested post-cold. I hadn’t realised how much tension I was holding until it melted away.

Post-treatment, I felt noticeably lighter through my torso, where puffiness had lingered since my recovery. I’ll definitely be back before the wedding for a full face and body session. Not just to refine, but to reset.

Stephanie McLean, Managing editor tried: Hydrafacial’s new HydraFillic with Pep9™ Booster

This visit was a two-in-one treat!

A first look at the newly renovated Flawless Rejuvenation Hampton and my very first HydraFacial experience, made even better with the brand’s latest booster innovation, HydraFillic with Pep9™.

I couldn’t wait to give my skin the hydration boost it was craving, and this advanced restorative treatment delivered. Powered by a proprietary complex of nine peptides, the new booster is clinically proven to visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles, deeply hydrate, and support a stronger skin barrier, revealing a firmer, more luminous complexion.

The launch of HydraFillic with Pep9™ underscores HydraFacial’s ongoing commitment to delivering their signature glow while pushing the boundaries of noninvasive skin rejuvenation. Combining smart device technology with sophisticated skincare science, this latest innovation proves that HydraFacial continues to set the standard for next-gen skin health.

My lovely therapist Jayda guided me through every step of the treatment, thoughtfully explaining the cleanse, exfoliation, extraction, and infusion process in detail. Post-treatment, my skin felt firmer, deeply hydrated, and had that unmistakable glow. The results spoke for themselves, so much so that even my partner noticed (a total win in my book!).

A Coastal Sanctuary of Modern Wellness

Where minimalist luxury meets bio-wellness, inspired by the serene beauty of Burleigh Heads

Inside the newly opened Mondrian Gold Coast, Ciel Spa invites guests to step into a sanctuary that transcends the typical spa experience. Drawing inspiration from the raw, natural beauty of Burleigh Heads, Ciel Spa seamlessly combines refined design with a forward-thinking approach to wellness, setting a new standard for luxury retreats on the coast.

Facts & Figures

Name: CIEL SPA

Owners: CHRIS AND LETITIA VITALE, (THE OWNERS OF MONDRIAN GOLD COAST)

Location: BURLEIGH HEADS

Size: PRIVATE

The interiors are a study in soft minimalism, using flowing architectural lines, muted neutral tones, and organic textures to create a gentle, calming rhythm throughout the space. “Ciel Spa’s design is a testament to the harmonious blend of natural inspiration, modern wellness, and minimalist luxury,” shares Amy Hides, Director of Spa and Wellness, Mondrian Gold Coast. “We wanted to create a space that feels like an escape but also feels deeply inviting, as though you’re being welcomed home.”

Number of rooms: 5 TREATMENT ROOMS, 4 TOUCHLESS SPACES

Number of staff: 10

Interior Inspiration: MINIMALIST, LUXURIOUS, NATURAL, SOPHISTICATED

From the moment guests arrive, every detail encourages them to slow down and reconnect with themselves. Plush textures, diffused warm lighting, and thoughtful spatial flow encourage a sense of ease and presence, inviting guests to fully surrender to the moment.

Beyond its tranquil aesthetic, Ciel Spa’s philosophy is deeply rooted in the concept of bio-wellness, a holistic approach that bridges advanced scientific innovation with the healing power of nature. Rather than following trends, bio-wellness at Ciel is about creating a new language of care, a dynamic blend of biohacking technologies, energy healing, and regenerative therapies that work in harmony with the body.

“We see wellness as an interconnected experience,” says Hides. “Our treatments integrate modalities that support the skin, body, and mind on a cellular level, focusing on real, lasting transformation rather than superficial results.”

This philosophy shines through in the spa’s exclusive partnerships with global leaders in regenerative skincare and wellness innovation. Brands like Augustinus Bader, HydraFacial, Synergie Skin, Refined Wellness, and KNESKO were handpicked to align with Ciel’s

commitment to scientifically backed, resultsdriven care. “Each partner was chosen to help us offer Australian-first exclusive treatments that redefine what it means to care for the skin and the whole self,” Hides explains. “These brands think beyond the traditional day spa, pushing into a realm of elevated, immersive experiences.”

Ciel Spa’s treatment rooms and communal spaces echo this forwardthinking ethos. Rather than feeling clinical or overtly luxurious, each space strikes a balance between sophistication and warmth. The design encourages curiosity and exploration, from custom lighting that shifts gently with the time of day to subtle soundscapes that support deep relaxation and energetic reset. Guests can expect more than relaxation. Ciel Spa offers transformative journeys that incorporate targeted facial treatments, advanced body sculpting, energy balancing, and immersive therapies designed to improve sleep quality, boost mood, and enhance overall vitality. The space itself becomes an integral part of the healing process, supporting each treatment through sensory elements carefully curated to align with the bio-wellness philosophy.

“When guests step into Ciel Spa, we want them to feel an immediate sense of calm and possibility,” says Hides. “It’s not just about looking rested when you leave, it’s about leaving with a sense of renewed connection to yourself and the world around you.”

As the Gold Coast continues to evolve as a luxury lifestyle and wellness destination, Ciel Spa stands out as a visionary leader, a place where contemporary design meets next-generation wellness. Here, guests aren’t just pampered; they are invited to explore the full potential of their wellbeing in an environment that celebrates both science and soul.

Whether you’re a local seeking a reset or a visitor craving a deeper escape, Ciel Spa at Mondrian Gold Coast promises an experience that goes beyond the ordinary, leaving you transformed, inspired, and truly reconnected.

L’Oréal Acquires Majority Stake in Medik8, Marking a New Era for

L’ORÉAL HAS ANNOUNCED it will acquire a majority stake in Medik8, the British premium clinical skincare brand founded by scientist Elliot Isaacs in 2009. Known for its results-driven, science-backed formulations, including the iconic Crystal Retinal serum and its signature CSA Philosophy® (Vitamin C and sunscreen by day, Vitamin A by night), Medik8 has grown rapidly across Europe, Australia, and the US.

Clinical Skincare

The acquisition, revealed on June 9, 2025, will see Medik8 join L’Oréal’s LUXE Division while retaining its founder, management team, and private equity partner Inflexion, who will remain actively involved. This strategic move is set to propel Medik8 into its next phase of global growth, supported by L’Oréal’s extensive resources and reach.

SClinic Connect 2025

SkinCeuticals Sets the Standard for the Future of Integrated Aesthetics

kinCeuticals’ first-ever Clinic Connect launched on July 28–29, bringing together over 70 clinic partners from across Australia for a full day program focused on unifying and upskilling the industry’s top performers.

The event opened with a welcome dinner at Entrecôte in Prahran Melbourne, where guests connected over a three-course meal and lively conversation beneath the pavilion. The following day, attendees gathered at L’Oréal HQ for a packed agenda that blended forwardthinking education with real-world business insights, all starting with a cleverly placed QR code for coffee orders.

From marketing and operations to the latest product innovations, Clinic Connect was a clear statement of SkinCeuticals’ commitment to supporting clinics beyond just product.

Integrated Skincare as Strategy

One of the core themes of the event was the growing importance of integrated skincare, supporting patients at every stage of their journey; before, during, after treatment, and at home. With four new launches in the past year, SkinCeuticals’ continues to cater to today’s resultsdriven, performance-obsessed consumer.

The brand also spotlighted its Elite Partnership Program, offering clinics access to exclusive education, in-clinic event support, sampling, and a medical-only back bar catalogue. As SkinCeuticals transitions more products to a professional channel led product offering, clinics are being equipped with stronger tools to drive outcomes and loyalty.

Looking ahead, a major launch is on the horizon: Advanced RGN 6, a biotech recovery cream inspired by laser science, designed to target six key markers of ageing and tone damage.

Understanding Today’s Consumer

An insightful segment on consumer trends highlighted that more people now view skin treatments as part of their overall wellbeing. But while interest is high, followthrough is low, with only 45% of consumers booking in after they’ve considered a treatment.

Barriers include concerns around side effects, unclear benefits, and fear of unnatural results. This has shifted consumer priorities toward personalised care, ingredient-focused education, and simplified routines that support long-term skin health.

For clinics the take home message means moving beyond treatments alone. It’s about building trust through transparency, education, and solutions that align with each individual’s evolving definition of beauty and wellbeing.

Mastering Digital Visibility

To help clinics thrive in the digital space, L’Oréal’s SEO Manager Nicholas Damico shared foundational tips for improving online performance, from understanding how search engines work and owning your local area, to optimising on-page SEO for maximum visibility.

He introduced a simple ChatGPT prompt to generate or improve web page schema, helping Google better interpret and showcase clinic websites. Nik also emphasised the value of Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Business Profile insights to track website performance, calls, and lead sources.

Building on this, Laine van Deventer of Eleve Studio delivered a fast-paced session on content strategy, encouraging clinics to build a strong organic presence through ten reels, four carousels, and daily posting each month, using optimised alt text, trending audio, and emotionally engaging hooks. Instagram remains the platform for polished content, TikTok is your unfiltered behind-the-scenes stage. Done right, both can drive powerful discovery.

Systems That Scale

Operational strategy was another key focus, with Jo Albertyn, Head of Business Development and Field at L’Oréal, outlining the 4 Cs framework, Culture, Collaboration, Capability, and Customer. She shared practical insights on setting clear KPIs, building structured onboarding processes, and establishing leadership rhythms that support long-term clinic success.

Suzie Hoitink from DappleOS followed with practical advice on using integrated software to track patient journeys, frequency, spend, and retention. Clinics were encouraged to see their systems not just as admin tools, but as powerful performance drivers.

Other standout takeaways included reframing the waiting room as a Client Experience Room, refining first-visit touchpoints, and using skincare recommendations to reinforce treatment outcomes.

Purpose Beyond Product

Above all, Clinic Connect emphasised a simple but powerful message “You are the reason.” Every team member plays a role in creating exceptional outcomes, building trust, and elevating the clinic experience. With a strong focus on science, systems, and support, SkinCeuticals Clinic Connect 2025 wasn’t just another industry event, it was a catalyst for growth, connection, and redefining what it means to lead in modern aesthetics.

Inspiring a Mindset for Growth, Connection and Excellence

t Cosmetic Collective ‘25, it wasn’t just about skills and knowledge - it was mindset revolution.

Over 3 unforgettable days, more than 250 nurses gathered to ignite their drive for continuous growth, build powerful connections, and embrace resilience in the ever-evolving world of cosmetic nursing. This wasn’t just a conference; it was a catalyst for transformation, inspiring everyone to think bigger and support each other like never before.

World-Class Speakers and Career-Defining Moments

A key highlight of CC25 was the calibre of keynote speakers and stage sessions. National and international leaders delivered powerful, insight-driven talks that left a lasting impression. These were more than presentations for many nurses, they were career-defining moments.

Hands-On Learning and Practical Skills Like No Other Conference

Attendees embraced 37 educational sessions and over 4,200 hours of training, including hands-on workshops and live demonstrations. Featuring expert speakers such as Dr Jana Pittman, Dr Jimmy Wang, Dr Priyanka Chadha, and many others, the program delivered advanced anatomical education, business insights, and motivational talks. Everyone walked away with new knowledge or practical skills to bring back to their clinics.

“Absolutely outstanding event! Exceeds my expectations every year… I honestly learnt so much from each session. Can’t wait for 2026!”

The Heartbeat of Juv’ae: True Community and Companionship

At CC25, the warmth and camaraderie among Juv’ae nurses was unmistakable. More than just networking, every dinner, wrap-up party, and hallway chat reflected a genuine sense of belonging. They shared stories, offered support, and celebrated each other’s successes. This spirit of companionship is what sets Juv’ae apart: a close-knit community where everyone lifts each other up, making every member feel valued and supported. This unique bond is a core value at Juv’ae.

How CC25 & Juv’ae Support Transformed Her Clinic

What inspired you at this years’ Cosmetic Collective Conference?

“Connecting with fellow Juv’ae colleagues was both inspiring and invaluable to my professional journey. Engaging with other passionate and skilled nurses and doctors fostered a sense of shared purpose and reignited my enthusiasm for continuous learning. The exchange of insights and diverse perspectives not only broadened my clinical thinking but also opened the door to exciting new collaborations. It was a powerful reminder of the strength and innovation that comes from meaningful professional connection.” Petra shares.

How did the conference’s leadership and community spirit impact her?

“What stood out to me was the genuine, supportive style of leadership and training. It was not just about techniques and evidence-based practices, but about lifting each other up and sharing knowledge to raise the standard across the industry. I left feeling both inspired and encouraged.”

How has Juv’ae helped you navigate regulatory changes?

“Juv’ae has been a constant source of support in navigating (many) regulatory changes. Their guidance is clear, timely, and always backed by a deep understanding of industry requirements. Every detail is thoughtfully considered, which builds a strong sense of trust. I’ve never felt alone in the process as the Juv’ae team makes complex changes feel manageable and ensures we’re always one step ahead.”

What advice do you have for new or independent nurses?

“My advice to new or independent nurses is to never underestimate the importance of staying informed and supported. Surround yourself with reputable networks, like Juv’ae, that prioritise compliance and education.

Do not try to navigate it on your own - regulations are constantly evolving and changing, and having trusted guidance ensures you stay compliant, protected, and focused on providing safe, high-quality care.”

How does Juv’ae’s support differ from your previous experiences?

“What sets this support apart is the accessibility, responsiveness, and genuine and immediate care shown by the team. In the past, I worked with a solo prescribing doctor who was hard to reach and limited in product preference, which often made things feel restrictive and stressful. With the Juv’ae network, I feel heard and fully supported. There is flexibility, timely guidance, and a collaborative approach that allows me to work confidently and in the best interest of my patients. It is a real partnership, not just a transaction.”

How has your clinic grown with Juv’ae’s support?

“With the support and mentoring I’ve received from Juv’ae, I’ve grown from a sole trader in a single room to owning a stand-alone clinic in a medical precinct. I now employ three staff, with plans to welcome two more. The guidance has gone well beyond clinical as it’s included business mentoring through Juv’ae’s ‘mastermind’ program. Jacinta, Mel and Nic have provided strategic advice and given me the tools and the confidence to scale sustainably.”

How has continuous education changed your clinical practice?

“One of the most profound breakthroughs in my practice came through advanced anatomical education, particularly cadaver dissections. Seeing the complexity of human anatomy firsthand was incredible, going beyond the simplified images in textbooks completely changed the way I approach a face. I now assess with far greater precision, considering dynamic movement, fat pads, and vascular pathways in real time. The more I learn, the more cautious I become. That deeper understanding has not only made me safer, but has also elevated the standard of care I provide.”

Aesthetic Business Masters Heads West For 2026 Event

The event is designed to energise, educate, and empower delegates with real-world strategies that drive growth and sustainability in aesthetic businesses.

Aesthetic Business Masters, Australia’s premier business summit for the medical aesthetics industry is heading west for its 2026 finale. The full-day event will unfold on Monday, 22 September 2026 at the picturesque Perth Zoo.

Following sold-out success in Sydney and Melbourne, Perth will host a dynamic program of strategy, mindset, marketing, and networking tailored for clinic owners, cosmetic nurses, aesthetic practitioners, and industry professionals. VIP guests will enjoy an exclusive iS Clinical breakfast, premium seating, early entry, and limited-edition gift bags.

The speaker lineup features some of the country’s most respected leaders, including Sheri-Lee Knoop (President, Cosmetic Nurses Association), Dr Anh Nguyen, Gay Wardle, Neil Osborne, Saf Chowdhury, Paul Fister, Tara Shaw, Iola Ciavarra, Rhi Mitropoulos, plus surprise special guests.

We caught up with ABM Founder Nicole Montgomery to hear why she’s excited for Perth and what attendees can look forward to.

Two events down, one to go – how are you feeling heading into the Perth finale, and how have Sydney and Melbourne shaped what’s to come?

We’re thrilled to be heading west for the Perth finale! Sydney and Melbourne set the tone for what Aesthetic Business Masters is about – education, empowerment, and genuine connection. The East Coast has been spoiled for choice with high-calibre events – from ASCD, Cosmedicon, and Dr Steven Liew’s Aesthetics to supplier workshops, dinners, and cocktail evenings.

Perth hasn’t had the same level of access to immersive business events, and we’re ready to change that – bringing glamour, excitement, and substance to WA to surprise and delight every delegate.

You’ve described Aesthetic Business Masters as more than just an event. What’s been the most rewarding or unexpected moment from this year’s series so far?

The connection – watching relationships form between delegates, speakers, and sponsors – has been the most rewarding part. Seeing collaborations, mentorships, and friendships emerge is a reminder that our industry thrives on community.

The biggest surprise? Sydney’s torrential rain. I was sure no one would come, yet the room filled, showing the commitment and passion for growth that defines this industry.

What gaps in the industry were you hoping to fill when you created ABM, and how have the events lived up to that vision?

Industry events tend to fall into three buckets: highly clinical, heavily sales-driven, or purely social. I wanted something different – designed for clinic owners, focused on growing their business with confidence and clarity. ABM brings business experts, marketing minds, sales strategists, and mindset mentors together to share practical strategies and celebrate success.

In challenging economic times, success is often hidden, and struggles feel isolating. ABM creates a space where achievement is shared, support is given, and attendees leave proud and excited for what’s next.

The Perth event has an impressive lineup and a unique venue. What can attendees expect?

Eighty percent of our speakers are flying in to deliver high-impact, 15-minute sessions – keeping the day fast-paced and full of value. Expect a fun, Instagrammable, immersive experience with surprises along the way, plus our famous delegate and VIP gift bags valued at over $300 and $600 respectively. Attendees will leave with strategies, connections, and confidence – and certainly not empty-handed.

Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, how do you see ABM evolving?

The vision is big – in 2026 we’ll launch the Aesthetic Business Awards, host our first Brisbane event, and expand to one event per quarter. Bigger isn’t always better – we’re committed to high-quality, bespoke events that empower every clinic owner, whether solo or leading a team, to thrive and proudly say, “I built this.”

Time to Upskill? Start Here

We sat down with GRAZINA FECHNER of Front and Centre to chat about how to navigate the next step in your career.

Whether you’re a beauty therapist, dermal clinician, or nurse, considering your next move can feel a little like standing at the edge of something big. Equal parts exciting and overwhelming. But according to Grazina Fechner, Director of Front and Centre, it doesn’t need to be a giant leap.

As we curated this issue’s education feature, we couldn’t ignore a shift in the air. After months of uncertainty and regulatory tension, the industry has turned inward, reflecting, reassessing, and recalibrating. And in that stillness, we’re sensing what’s next: a return to growth. A renewed focus on upskilling.

Because while the rules may have changed, your ability to lead, evolve, and back yourself hasn’t.

Everyone in Clinic is a Leader

“We believe in taking one small, powerful step forward,” says Grazina. “Upskilling isn’t about doing it all at once, it’s about backing yourself and creating a culture of consistent, achievable growth.”

Choosing the Right Course for You

With so many education options out there, where do you begin?

“Start with your ‘why,’” Grazina says. “Do you need a new qualification, more hands-on skill, or just to feel confident again? When you know what you need, the right course becomes clear.”

At Front and Centre, leadership doesn’t belong only to those with the title. “Everyone in clinic is a leader,” Grazina explains. “Our work is about building confident communicators, people who inspire trust and take action.”

Her team supports clinics through tailored workshops, online modules, in-clinic coaching, and keynotes designed to make upskilling feel possible, not pressure-filled. “We help turn education into a lived experience. It’s not just about knowledge, it’s about shifting culture.”

Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway

When it comes to stepping up, emotional hurdles are real. “Fear, doubt, comparison… it all comes up,” she says. “We hear a lot of, ‘I’m not ready,’ or ‘What if I train them and they leave?’ But if you wait until you feel totally confident, you’ll never start.”

Instead, Grazina encourages practitioners to take small, consistent steps. “Just one win, a good mentor, a solid training, or a shift in mindset, can flip that fear on its head.”

She also stresses the importance of choosing the right trainer. “It’s not just about the content, it’s about the person delivering it. Can they translate both the science and the soft skills? Do they understand the industry and the reality of what you’re navigating?”

Time, Cost & Commitment

Let’s talk logistics. “Time and money are the big ones,” Grazina acknowledges. “But so is learning style. Are you someone who thrives in a group? Do you need feedback in real-time, or does online suit you better?”

She also recommends asking about postcourse support. “Will they be there when things get wobbly in the real world, or do they leave you hanging? That makes all the difference.”

And most importantly? “Give your learning the space it deserves,” she says. “Don’t wedge it in, honour it.”

How Upskilling Changes Everything

According to Grazina, upskilling is about far more than just ticking a box on your CV. “It shifts your energy,” she explains. “You speak with more certainty, lead with more clarity, and the people around you, your clients, your team, feel that shift. It expands your mindset, builds momentum, and yes, it often grows your business too.”

She poses the question: “What’s scarier, starting, or staying stuck? You don’t need to take a giant leap. Just one step. One course. One shift. That’s all it takes.”

Because confidence, she says, “isn’t about knowing everything. It’s about backing yourself to figure it out.”

And if you’re still hesitating? “Your future self is already clapping.”

Advancing Skin Health

Victoria University’s Bachelor of Dermal Sciences

Victoria University (VU) is leading the way in dermal education with its Bachelor of Dermal Sciences, Australia’s first and only comprehensive, four-year degree dedicated to dermal therapy and clinical aesthetics. This unique program offers a clear and seamless pathway for beauty therapists ready to advance their careers and expand into the rapidly growing field of dermal science.

For graduates of the Australian Diploma of Beauty Therapy, VU provides advanced standing with credits towards the first year of the degree, allowing students to commence directly at the second-year level. As a dual-sector institution, VU ensures smooth transitions from TAFE to higher education, making it easy for students to continue their learning journey without disruption.

The Bachelor of Dermal Sciences focuses on preparing students for real-world clinical practice. Core skills include assessing, managing, and treating a wide range of skin conditions, from acne, rosacea, and pigmentation concerns to pre- and post-operative care, chronic skin conditions, and age-related changes. Students also gain expertise in wound healing, scarring, lymphatic management, and more, ensuring they are equipped to deliver safe, evidence-based treatments in advanced skin clinics and medical settings.

A standout feature of the program is its hands-on learning approach. Students complete over 370 hours of practical experience in VU’s state-of-the-art City Tower Campus, which includes a public-facing student clinic. Here, they master a range of procedures, including laser and lightbased treatments, skin resurfacing, lymphatic procedures, and comprehensive skin health assessments.

Simpson, Lecturer and Research

for

Sciences, explains “Our facilities have been designed to replicate what students will experience in the real world, right down to the equipment, clinic layout, and patient interaction. It’s not only about delivering treatments; it’s about building confidence, competence, and clinical judgement.”

This immersive training prepares graduates to work across dermatology, plastic surgery, cosmetic medicine, and even independent practice as allied health professionals.

Looking ahead, the Bachelor of Dermal Sciences opens doors for further study, including postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees, and even PhDs. Many graduates go on to pursue specialisations in cosmetic formulations, dermoscopy, wound care, lymphoedema management, and public health, or transition into fields like graduate entry nursing and medicine.

The role of dermal clinicians in Australia is rapidly evolving alongside the booming aesthetics industry, which has seen a 40–50% increase in non-surgical procedures over the past five years. Dermal clinicians are uniquely positioned to fill a vital gap in skin health care, supporting early detection, ongoing management, and patient education in collaboration with dermatologists and GPs.

What truly sets VU’s program apart is its depth and breadth. Students benefit from a curriculum grounded in strong scientific knowledge, covering subjects like dermal sciences, laser safety, ethics, and psychology. Combined with Victoria University’s award-winning block model®, which allows students to focus on one unit at a time in four-week blocks, the learning experience is immersive, practical, and supportive.

Victoria University’s Bachelor of Dermal Sciences is not only equipping graduates with advanced skills, it’s shaping the future of skin health in Australia.

The Future of Cosmetic Nursing Starts in the Classroom

As the industry undergoes regulatory reform, accredited education is emerging as the foundation for safer, more ethical cosmetic practice.

Australia’s cosmetic nursing industry is booming, now worth more than $4.1 billion and projected to double by 2030. With over five million cosmetic procedures performed each year, pressure is mounting to ensure that practitioners are not only competent, but clinically and ethically prepared. The release of new guidelines from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is a significant step in this direction, reinforcing the importance of structured, accredited education in raising standards and protecting patient wellbeing.

For the Australasian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science (AACDS), a pioneer in cosmetic nursing education, the guidelines are a welcome recognition of what they’ve long championed: that cosmetic medicine is not an industry for shortcuts. Founded as Australia’s first Registered Training Organisation offering nationally accredited cosmetic nursing and dermal therapy qualifications, AACDS has consistently prioritised depth, safety, and evidence-based learning.

Raising the bar: from weekend workshops to formal qualifications

Cosmetic injectables are complex procedures that carry real risks, and AACDS has built its programs around that reality. Unlike short courses that promise quick entry into the field, AACDS students spend a full year on theory before entering six months of supervised clinical training. No patient contact occurs until students demonstrate a strong grasp of anatomy, pharmacology, risk assessment, and ethics.

The newly re-accredited Graduate Diploma of Cosmetic Nursing and Injectables, launched in March 2025, reflects over a decade of curriculum refinement and industry consultation. As AACDS CEO Kylie Fahey explains, “Our course scaffolds learning in a way that builds true clinical competence, not just procedural skill. We’ve long included every area AHPRA now lists in its guidelines, from facial anatomy to psychological screening and consultation frameworks. Rather than change our content, we’re now focusing on clearly communicating how closely we align with national standards.”

Dermal clinicians and nurses: different paths, shared responsibilities

While the media spotlight often falls on nurses administering cosmetic injectables, dermal clinicians are also navigating evolving expectations. Though their scope differs, both professions must demonstrate competency in areas such as skin health assessment, consultation, ethical practice, and infection control. As Fahey notes, “Whether you’re a dermal therapist or nurse, the days of informal, ad hoc training are behind us. The entire industry is moving towards accountability, structure, and evidence-led practice.”

Meeting the moment: bridging the gap for current practitioners

For nurses and doctors already working in aesthetics, many of whom trained before these regulatory updates, the shift can be daunting. But AACDS offers flexible solutions designed to bring them up to speed. “We provide a range of bridging and skill set qualifications, as well as CPD programs that align with today’s regulatory standards,” says Fahey. “It’s not about starting over, it’s about strengthening what you already know and filling in the gaps.”

AACDS also supports a broad cohort of professionals beyond nurses. In partnership with the Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia, they deliver the Graduate Certificate in Cosmetic Medicine (GCCM) and Preliminary Essentials in Cosmetic Medicine (PECM), designed for doctors and dentists looking to safely expand their skillset.

What

lies ahead

With national attention focused on reform and patient safety, the industry is entering a new era, one where qualifications are scrutinised, outcomes are measured, and education is non-negotiable. AACDS stands ready to meet this moment, providing pathways not just into the industry, but through it, supporting practitioners at every stage of their journey.

“As cosmetic practice becomes more regulated, education isn’t just a requirement, it’s our first and best safeguard,” says Fahey. “Accredited training creates clinicians who are not only skilled, but responsible, ethical, and prepared to deliver care that truly serves the patient.”

Smooth handover, stronger clinic

How to prepare your business for leadership change with Operations and Logistics Specialist, LYN NGUYEN

Picture this: you’ve just stepped into a clinic you’ve long admired, perhaps through a new partnership or as part of a succession plan. It’s an exciting milestone, but one that often comes with a steep learning curve.

Without proper preparation, transitions can quickly feel overwhelming. You’re juggling staff, clients, and day-to-day operations before you’ve even had a chance to align on strategy or set clear expectations.

Whether you’re preparing to sell, step back, or welcome a new partner, it’s never too early to plan for a leadership change. A smooth handover doesn’t happen by accident; it relies on strong operational systems and clear documentation put in place well in advance.

If your business isn’t yet ready to be passed on to a partner or new owner, now is the time to start preparing. Even if a transition isn’t on the immediate horizon, laying this groundwork today will ensure your business is ready when the time comes.

Documenting clinic SOPs to preserve excellence

Strong businesses aren’t built on memory, they’re built on systems. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) remove the guesswork from daily tasks, allowing your clinic to deliver consistent service and results, even during leadership changes. SOPs are one of the most powerful ways to preserve your legacy, providing the structure and clarity needed for others to carry your vision forward with confidence.

Think of SOPs as the instruction manual for your business. They don’t need to be complicated, just consistent. By outlining the steps for repetitive tasks, SOPs create a clear roadmap for successors, enabling them to delegate effectively and focus on work that truly drives growth.

Examples might include how appointments are confirmed, how consultations are conducted, or how treatment rooms are prepared between clients.

Big or small, start identifying every task that could benefit from an SOP and work through them gradually. Each documented process strengthens your foundation and ensures your business can continue to operate seamlessly, no matter who’s at the helm.

Due diligence: Preparing for a smooth handover

If you’re considering selling your clinic, whether soon or years away, be prepared: due diligence is often the most intense part of the process.

This is when potential buyers thoroughly examine every aspect of your operations. From financial records to day-to-day workflows, they want proof that the business can run seamlessly without you at the helm.

Clinics with clear systems, well-documented processes, and up-todate reporting will move through this stage with ease. Those without? Expect long nights, last-minute document requests, and a great deal of avoidable stress.

Even the most successful and profitable businesses can stumble here if their operational foundations aren’t strong. That’s why, whether a sale is months or years away, the time to prepare is now. Start setting your clinic up today so it can thrive confidently without you tomorrow.

How to help your team with the transition

Employees often feel anxious when facing changes to roles, responsibilities, and workplace culture. A front desk team member might worry about new booking systems, while a therapist could feel uneasy about updated treatment protocols. To ease these concerns, involve your team at every step.

Begin with a meeting to outline the transition timeline, introduce new stakeholders, and invite open feedback. Continue to provide regular updates as the process unfolds.

Establish a feedback loop where staff can safely voice concerns and share valuable insights, from frustrations with booking flows to challenges with product ordering.

Assign each team member a clear role during the transition period. Keeping everyone engaged and focused helps ensure daily operations continue smoothly and without disruption.

Having a structured plan in place allows you and your team to prioritise revenue-generating activities, so the business stays strong even as change happens in the background.

Only once the handover has fully settled should you introduce new strategies or optimisations. Moving too quickly can create resistance, staff turnover, and tension around leadership decisions.

Succession planning isn’t just about stepping away, it’s about strengthening what you’ve built. By taking a proactive, inclusive approach, spa and clinic owners can prepare for a seamless transition and set the stage for long-term success.

The Psychology behind why clients choose one clinic over the other

You’re great at what you do, but what truly makes a client choose one clinic over another before they’ve even experienced the service?
Insights from NOLA MUTOGO, founder of Booked Out Socials.

You’re good at what you do but what makes clients choose one clinic over the other before they experience the service?

It’s not just about aesthetics and cute reels, it’s about understanding the way your ideal clients actually buy. The psychology behind it. Let’s lift the veil on what actually goes on in people’s minds before they hit that appointment button and how you can apply it into your marketing.

There are a few different marketing psychology principles, but we will focus on these 4:

Do they like you

Out Socials.

If you think about your favourite shows, you know, the ones you binge watch or movies that leave you feeling connected to the main character. You want to see them win. You want to see what happens next. You’re invested. In the same way, buyers want to feel some type of connection. This is why storytelling is a great tool to build emotional resonance and connection with your audience. When they can connect to your brand they can resonate and build a level of rapport with your brand. This is essentially building trust and that is a pivotal thing when people decide to purchase.

Do they want to be a part of something?

There are two ways this psychology principle shows itself, when someone is uncertain or when someone views others who are similar to them to do something, they are more inclined to want to do it too.

As Robert Caldini, Psychologist, says it “We are more inclined to follow the lead of a similar individual than a dissimilar one”. So, what does this mean for your clinic…

Well, it essentially means that people are more inclined to do something when they perceive that they will be part of something or

when they have this feeling of not wanting to “miss out”. This is why some of the most successful clinics or brands have fostered strong communities and built movements; they don’t just offer services. They have created experiences that people just want to be part of. This is something that is used widely in marketing strategies.

Do they think you’re the ONE in your space?

Becoming “the one” or standing out as the leader is a quick way that your clinic can build trust and credibility. When people view your brand as a leader they are more likely to trust your services and offers because they will trust that you know what you’re doing. You can leverage this by playing to your strengths or positioning your clinic as the leader in a specific vertical or in your area. There are a few ways to build authority including teaching, running workshops, word of mouth referrals, speaking, getting features etc.

Do they already feel invested?

One of the principles of persuasion is fostering a sense of commitment or consistency. People are more likely to want to continue with something if maybe they’ve had a small experience or they have already taken a small action toward an investment or just saying yes. A few ways of doing this could be offering an introductory offer, discount, sample, experience etc. The idea is that if someone tries your clinic or services once (in some way or form) they are more likely to identify themselves as someone who visits “x” clinic and they will be more likely to become consistent with that identity.

When you understand how your audience thinks, you will know how to position your brand but always remember that the quality of services and experience will always be a major factor determining whether someone will return, or how they will talk about your brand after the experience.

The Hormonal Threshold

Menopause and the Moral Compass of Aesthetic Practice

The aesthetics industry stands at a tipping point. Will we protect, empower and elevate the women in our care, or will we let commercial gain compromise integrity?

With the launch of Aesthetic and Beauty Industry Council’s (ABIC) Menopause Aesthetics Division, it’s time for every practitioner to reexamine their role in perimenopausal, menopausal and postmenopausal care.

“One in three Australian women is in menopause. Most of them walk through your clinic doors. Do you know how to care for them - ethically, intelligently, and without exploiting their vulnerability?”

We treat their pigmentation, we fill their cheeks, we tighten their skin. But for the most part, we’re not treating them. Not as whole people. Not as hormonally shifting, medically complex, psychologically vulnerable women who are often suffering, silently, invisibly, just beneath the surface of our treatments.

Menopause, whether natural or induced through surgery, medication or illness, is not a niche concern. It is a physiological certainty for every woman and a clinical reality for every aesthetic practitioner. And yet, our industry remains under-educated, underprepared, and dangerously under-regulated in how we approach menopause across the treatment spectrum.

What the Science Tells Us, But Few Know

Let’s be clear, menopause changes everything. And not gradually.

Studies show that women lose up to 30% of skin collagen in the first five years post-menopause. Barrier function weakens. Wound healing slows. Sebum decreases. Skin becomes dry, fragile, pigmented, and reactive, often for the first time in that woman’s life.

But this isn’t only about skin. It’s about systemic change. Hormonal decline during menopause is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, anxiety and depression. And yet, 85% of women who report significant symptoms go untreated, largely due to misinformation, stigma, or the simple absence of knowledgeable care.

Even more overlooked are the 8.7% of Australian women who enter menopause not through age, but through medical necessity, often suddenly, traumatically, due to cancer, endometriosis, premature ovarian insufficiency, or prophylactic surgery. These women are frequently younger, more vulnerable, and less likely to find informed aesthetic or wellness support.

This is the “hormonal threshold” I refer to, the moment where a woman’s biology, identity and expectations shift, and our industry must decide whether to meet her there with knowledge and care, or with silence and salesmanship.

The Rise of the Menopause Market, and the Risk

Globally, the “menopause market” is expected to exceed $33 billion by 2030. That number reflects both opportunity and obligation.

Because with booming market interest comes a wave of misinformation, influencer-led advice, pseudo-scientific products, and unregulated practitioners marketing themselves as “menopause experts” with little to no training.

We have already seen the fallout internationally. In the UK, regulatory bodies are scrutinising aesthetic and wellness providers for predatory menopause marketing. And in Australia, Senate inquiries, the Jean Hailes National Survey, and new federal funding have all signalled that menopause is no longer an invisible issue, it is now on the policy and public health radar.

If the aesthetic industry fails to self-regulate, government regulation will not be far behind.

A New Standard Begins With Ethics

This is not just a clinical issue. It is a moral one.

As an industry, we must ask, are we centring the woman’s wellbeing, or the sale? Are we creating safe, informed spaces, or are we feeding women’s fears to justify unnecessary or unproven treatments?

There is a fine line between support and exploitation. Between care and coercion.

When a woman says, “I don’t feel like myself,” she may be experiencing identity loss, hormonal dysregulation, disrupted sleep, pain, memory decline or even suicidal ideation. What she does not need is to be sold a six-pack of “menopause facials” that promise to “reverse ageing” through marketing language rather than evidence.

When women are vulnerable, our duty to protect becomes even more sacred.

The Opportunity, Done Right

Menopause in aesthetics is not a trend, it is a threshold. And every practitioner who engages with a perimenopausal or menopausal client is crossing that threshold, whether they acknowledge it or not.

There is extraordinary opportunity here, not just commercially, but ethically, clinically, and relationally, to become menopause-aware practices. This means:

• Adjusting treatment plans for oestrogen-deficient skin

• Recognising medical red flags and referring to qualified health professionals

• Speaking accurately about what aesthetic treatments can do, and honestly about what they can’t

• Creating environments where women feel heard, not sold to It’s not about “anti-ageing.” It’s about respect.

Introducing the Menopause Aesthetics Division

To lead this evolution, the Aesthetic and Beauty Industry Council (ABIC) has launched the Menopause Aesthetics Division, a world-first initiative dedicated to the ethical care of women undergoing hormonal transition in aesthetic settings.

This division is not a marketing exercise. It is a professional imperative.

We are currently developing:

• Best practice guidelines for menopause-aware aesthetic care

• Ethical advertising frameworks to ensure honest, non-exploitative messaging

• Education pathways for practitioners across modalities and scopes

• Certification programs for clinics that commit to ethical menopause practice

We are taking time, care and precision to gather a cohort of respected and trusted experts to guide the ABIC Menopause Aesthetic Committee.

I am proud to formally introduce three of our Senior Advisors:

Chiza Westcarr, renowned Dermal therapist, nutritionist, educator. Holds BHSc, MHumNutr, AdvDipNutMed, GradCertResearch. Founder of Thriving Through Menopause, PhD candidate specialising in menopause and cardiometabolic health in aesthetics.

A Final Reckoning and Invitation

The truth is this, every aesthetic clinic is already treating menopausal women. The question is, are we doing it ethically, holistically, and with the respect they deserve?

We are standing at a moral threshold. We can elevate, or we can exploit. We can educate, or we can ignore. We can lead, or we can follow, into a regulatory future that may not include us at the table.

SNavigating the next frontier of SEO – Is your beauty business ready?

How

AI, search engines and Instagram are rewriting the visibility playbook with TAG General Manager, ANDREW MORONEY

earch engine optimisation (SEO) is entering a new era, one defined not by keyword dominance, but by the rise of artificial intelligence and large language models. As traditional tactics lose ground, a more nuanced approach is emerging, one where trust, content quality, and format diversity reign supreme. For beauty and wellness brands, three key shifts are reshaping the digital landscape, and staying ahead means understanding what’s changing, and why.

From search rankings to real recognition

Search is no longer just about ranking in the top 10 ‘blue links’. AIdriven experiences like Google’s AI Overviews provide users with direct, summarised answers within the search page itself. Think of it as the ‘best of the best’. This means your content must now earn its place as a trusted source cited by AI, not only match a query. Being featured in these summaries requires authoritative, well-structured content that offers real value to potential customers. For a skincare clinic, this might mean writing in-depth explainers on the treatments you offer, backed by practitioner insights and before-and-after results, rather than a generic service overview.

In an AI-dominated landscape, Google’s framework of Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T) has become central to content visibility.

Every strategy should consider each of these pillars:

• Experience – include real-world testimonials that speak to the power of your product or service

• Expertise – highlight your team’s qualifications, such as dermal therapy certifications, advanced skin science training or naturopathic credentials. Where possible, provide detailed practitioner bios alongside content

• Authoritativeness – secure mentions and backlinks from respected industry publications, supplier sites or medical beauty networks

• Trustworthiness – use a secure website connection (HTTPS), ensure your contact details are easy to find, make booking processes transparent and clearly cite reputable sources – especially when referencing medical-grade products or treatment protocols There are consequences for cutting corners, with AI now detecting and deprioritising thin, generic or AI-generated content without human

oversight. What wins is depth, originality and clarity, produced with a human touch and backed by evidence.

Speak their language

Behavioural shifts in search means content is becoming more natural and dialogue-driven. Users ask broader, layered questions and AI tools are trained to follow their thought process. Your content needs to mirror this shift. Information that was once stuffed in frequently asked questions (FAQs) as an afterthought has now jumped to the front of the queue when it comes to potential value. This means you should:

• Structure website articles with FAQs, clear headings and logical flow

• Address follow-up questions within your content

• Support your client journey, not just one-time queries

A treatment page for skin needling, as an example, might answer questions like “Is it painful?”, “How many sessions do I need?”, “What’s the downtime?” and “What next?”.

Take advantage of Instagram

A recent major update allows public content from professional Instagram accounts (Business and Creator) to be indexed by search engines. This means:

• Your Reels, photo posts and captions may appear in Google and Bing results, even to users not on Instagram

• Instagram captions should be treated as micro-blog posts

• Use alt text on visuals and ensure your bio clearly states your offering with a strong link-in-bio strategy

If your business offers buccal massage, you’ll want to use your Instagram captions to explain your technique, how it relieves stress, supports facial contouring and why it’s gaining popularity.

With Instagram Business content now indexable by search engines, this kind of informative, keyword-rich content turns your social media into a powerful organic search asset. It’s a strategic opportunity to align your SEO and social efforts, and those who move early will be best positioned to reap the rewards.

The future of SEO is about being genuinely helpful and deeply credible. Those who build trust through thoughtful, long-form content, distributed across both websites and social media platforms, will thrive in this new AI-first search era.

The Skin Strategist

From pioneering cosmedical skincare to creating industrywide impact, MARIA ENNACOCCIOLONE reflects on 40 years of beauty, bold decisions, and the power of backing science over trends.

Driven by a deep passion for professional beauty and a desire to create more transparency between skin professionals and their clients, Maria Enna-Cocciolone founded INSKIN COSMEDICS in 2007. After 40 years in the industry, she remains one of Australia’s most respected industry icons and the only one to have created three professional skincare brands from scratch. O COSMEDICS, GINGER&ME, and the recently launched INSKIN.CO.

But for Maria, it’s never just been about the brands, it’s about what they stand for.

“Every brand in our portfolio must make good business and good skin sense,” she says. “They need to support skin professionals and deliver real results to clients, while also giving businesses the tools to thrive.”

From Courtroom Dreams to Skin Science

With 40 years of experience behind her, Maria’s entry into the beauty industry wasn’t exactly planned, but it was undeniably meant to be.

“In many ways, beauty therapy chose me,” she says. “I went to a careers expo planning to study law or medicine and walked away enrolled in a Diploma of Health Science. The diversity of the course, from chemistry to psychology to skin and nutrition, lit something in me. Once I understood the science of skin and how we could change lives through it, I never looked back.”

That love for skin transformation ultimately led to the creation of O COSMEDICS, now celebrating its 15th year. It was a bold move that came with its own set of challenges, but also with powerful rewards.

“From day one, I knew O needed to be different. That’s why I coined the term ‘Cosmedics’, I didn’t want the brand pigeonholed into an outdated category. We were delivering active ingredients at functional doses, the kind that made real cellular changes.”

Early on, the range sparked reactions that initially surprised practitioners – redness, flaking and purging, but Maria quickly discovered it wasn’t irritation. It was activation. With education and support the brand flourished.

A Brand Built on Meaning

The “O” in O COSMEDICS represents more than just a name. It symbolises the ongoing cycle of skin health, longevity and the confidence that comes from feeling at home in your own skin.

“We’re not anti-aging,” Maria explains. “We’re about defying aging, supporting skin at every stage of life, and helping people feel good in their skin, no matter their age.”

That pro-aging philosophy is woven through everything she does. It’s also at the heart of her other brands, GINGER&ME, which focuses on mindful beauty and NEUROCOSMEDICS, and INSKIN.CO, her latest launch designed to make professional-strength skincare more attainable.

Her next mission? To take these brands global. “One country, one skin at a time,” she says with a smile.

Leading with Heart and Science

Maria’s role as founder and CEO of INSKIN COSMEDICS also sees her steering a passionate team of experts, many of whom have grown alongside her brand. It’s this culture of collaboration and loyalty that she’s most proud of, alongside her position on the Aesthetic Beauty Industry Council (ABIC), where she continues to shape the future of the profession.

“I’m proud of the culture we’ve built, one that embraces the strengths of being female. We lead with professionalism, but also with compassion, kindness, and empowerment. That’s how you build something that lasts.”

Advice for the Next Generation

To emerging professionals stepping into the aesthetic space, Maria offers this advice:

“Learn your skin science. This industry is noisy and filled with marketing hype. The only way to cut through is to know what’s real. Understand causes before symptoms, dig into the gut-skin connection, learn how hormones affect skin, and stay rooted in evidence-based practice.”

She also stresses the importance of in-clinic treatments paired with daily cosmedical homecare, customised solutions and long-term commitment to the patient journey.

“Listen. Ask questions. Follow up. Be more than a technician – be a skin mentor. Your clients are trusting you with their face, their confidence, their self-worth. That’s a responsibility and an honour we should never take lightly.”

As Maria continues to lead with unwavering passion, purposeful vision, and a commitment to innovation, her impact extends far beyond the products she creates. Her legacy lies in redefining standards, empowering professionals, and championing skin health with integrity. Through every brand, formula, and initiative, she is helping to shape a more informed, ethical, and results-driven future for the aesthetics industry, one skin at a time. YKeeping Your Brand in the Spotlight

Strategies to keep your skincare, clinic, or equipment brand front of mind, with expert insights from CHELSEA CUCINOTTA , Founder and Director, Honey Buzz PR.

introduced a state-of-the-art aesthetic device, or unveiled an innovative new clinic service. You’ve generated strong media coverage, boosted your brand’s credibility, and built excitement among your audience. But what happens after the initial buzz? How do you keep your brand front of mind in an industry where trends change rapidly and new launches happen every week?

In the beauty, aesthetics, and wellness space, PR is about more than one big splash, it’s about building lasting relationships and nurturing a strong reputation over time. Whether you’re a clinic, a skincare brand, or an equipment innovator, consistent and thoughtful visibility is key to staying relevant and trusted.

Proactive PR: Keep telling your story

Your PR strategy should be as carefully curated as your product formulations or treatment protocols. Map out your brand milestones and plan for 6–12 months ahead, just as you would with a content calendar.

This might include new treatment or product launches, behindthe-scenes R&D stories, clinic expansion announcements, or expert insights from your founder or clinical team. Each moment is an opportunity to shape and strengthen your narrative while reinforcing your expertise and values.

Press kits are a powerful tool to connect directly with editors and influencers. You don’t need to wait for a major launch, align them with key industry dates or seasonal wellness themes like Rosacea Awareness Month, winter skin campaigns, or even Global Wellness Day. Thoughtful, beautifully presented press kits help your brand feel tangible and memorable.

Events are also essential, especially for equipment and device

brands. Hosting intimate hands-on demonstrations, advanced training sessions, or VIP media preview days allows key opinion leaders and media to experience your brand firsthand. These in-person touchpoints create emotional connections that translate into long-term loyalty and ongoing coverage.

Reactive PR: Stay agile and responsive

The beauty and aesthetics industries move fast, and timing is everything. Stay on top of trending topics, viral skincare moments, and breaking wellness news so you can offer timely expert commentary or thought leadership.

Be ready to weigh in on emerging treatment trends, new ingredient spotlights, or even potentially risky viral beauty hacks that need professional clarification. Positioning your brand as an authority not only boosts media interest but also deepens trust with your audience.

Keep a close eye on influencer and celebrity content as well. If your product or equipment pops up organically, act quickly to leverage the moment for broader exposure, whether that means amplifying on your own channels or pitching a follow-up to media.

Pay to play: Secure your spotlight

While earned media is incredibly valuable, it isn’t always guaranteed. Consider incorporating advertorials or sponsored editorial partnerships into your strategy. Collaborating with industry publications lets you present your products, treatments, or devices in a premium, controlled way, ensuring your brand story is shared exactly how you intend.

Ultimately, sustained media momentum doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of consistent, thoughtful storytelling, strong industry relationships, and a willingness to adapt quickly. By blending proactive planning with reactive agility, your skincare, clinic, or equipment brand can remain visible, relevant, and deeply respected long after the launch buzz fades.

Marketing With Dr Joseph Hkeik

How All Saint Clinic Founder DR JOSEPH HKEIK redefined growth through strategy, substance, and staying power.

In a space where aesthetics meets ambition, marketing can either elevate a clinic or drown it in noise. Yet, some practitioners manage to rise above the scroll-stopping gimmicks and fleeting trends, building brands that not only attract but endure. Dr Joseph Hkeik, Founder of All Saint Clinic is one of those rare leaders.

Dr Joseph carved out a reputation for clinical excellence grounded in trust, strategy, and authenticity. In this candid conversation, he reflects on what’s worked, what hasn’t, and how compliance, brand clarity, and patient-centred values have been key to long-term success.

You’ve clearly built a brand that people trust and return to, what was the first marketing move you made that really changed the game for you?

One of the earliest and most pivotal decisions I made wasn’t a marketing “move” in the conventional sense, it was a choice to prioritise truth and trust over trend. Very early on, I realised that if I wanted All Saint to be more than just another clinic, if I wanted it to be a legacy brand, then every interaction, every result, and every word we put into the world had to reflect authenticity.

Myself, and the Dr’s at All Saint have never taken part in performative marketing. Instead, we choose to invest time in educating clients one-on-one. That quiet clarity, choosing substance over spectacle resonates deeply with our clientele.

Over time, that integrity became our most powerful form of marketing. Clients became word of mouth ambassadors, not just because of how they looked, but because of how they felt. In an industry that can often be transactional, we built something deeply personal.

So the game-changing moment wasn’t a stunt or a digital ad. It was the realisation that people are drawn not just to expertise, but to ethos.

Let’s be honest, what’s one campaign or idea you thought would work brilliantly but completely flopped? What did you learn from it?

We announced our new Mosman Clinic, Boronia House, mid last year. Due to the heritage listing, council DA’s and the likes the project is not where

I had hoped it would be, so from a marketing perspective we were perhaps a little premature (we were excited!) and announced that project! But stay tuned, more to come on this shortly!

Do you focus more on brand-building or lead generation, and how do you balance being aspirational without losing clinical credibility?

For me, brand always comes first. Lead generation can be short-term and aggressive if not handled carefully, whereas brand-building is timeless. The way we balance aspiration with credibility is by ensuring our clinicians are always the front line of communication. Our patients hear directly from experts, supported by more gentle marketing. We’re aspirational in tone, yes, but we always return to medical excellence, safety, and results. That’s non-negotiable.

Everyone’s obsessed with Instagram, but what marketing channels or tactics have actually delivered ROI for you (and which ones have been overrated hype)? Instagram has been powerful for visibility and engagement, especially when used to educate rather than sell. But in terms of true ROI, nothing compares to word-of-mouth and patient referrals. The power of one client sharing their authentic experience will always outperform algorithms. That said, email marketing, when done with elegance and value is another underrated gem. What hasn’t worked? We don’t partake in overproduced influencer campaigns. The ‘freebies’ messaging is not who we are or will ever be at Saint Clinic Group. Authenticity wins, always.

With so many regulations around advertising, how do you ensure compliance and marketing success? It’s simple- we follow the rules. Our intention is always to inform, uplift and guide patients rather than pressure or persuade them, and we are able to do so within regulatory guidelines. Integrity in marketing is part of patient care and we take both seriously.

A lean team structure, automation, and a smart client journey mean the business runs with minimal overhead but maximum effect. It’s a model that spa and wellness operators around the country should be taking notes on.

And it’s this mindset that positions Bionik as more than just a local standout, it’s a blueprint for the future of wellness in Australia. As operators adapt to a postpandemic world and rising client expectations, one truth stands out; tech-enabled, resultsdriven recovery is here to stay.

By aligning innovation with accessibility and refining every touchpoint of the client journey, Bionik proves that clinical care can feel calm, human and scalable.

Glacē™ Treatment – Where Korean Skin Philosophy Meets Cutting-Edge Technology

THow CARLY KNOWLES of Bella Pelle Body Clinic transformed client experience, outcomes, and ROI with Candela’s next-generation facial protocol.

he Glacē™ Treatment (GLASS-EE) from Candela is redefining what a professional facial can be. This multiphase, customisable skin rejuvenation protocol integrates hydrodermabrasion, dual-mode cupping, LED light therapy, and targeted serum infusion, supporting visible hydration, smoother texture, and a refreshed glow in a single appointment. Designed for efficiency and versatility, Glacē Treatment slots seamlessly into clinic menus, supporting both advanced treatment outcomes and approachable beauty services.

We spoke with Carly Knowles, founder of Bella Pelle Body Clinic, about why Glacē Treatment stood out among the many devices she’s trialled, the rapid ROI her clinic achieved, and how it’s become a cornerstone of both client care and business growth.

You’re often invited to trial new devices. What made Glacē Treatment stand out?

At Bella Pelle, we only invest in technology that delivers on three pillars - results, client experience, and business performance. From the very first demo, Glacē Treatment ticked all three.

What I thought might be “just another facial” turned out to be one of the most transformative client experiences I’ve seen in years. The glow was instant, and clients were rebooking before they left the room. Even during the trial, the device generated a significant return and we had people messaging daily to ask when they could book the “Glacē facial” again.

It’s an affordable, modular system that bridges advanced skin health with accessible beauty. It works as a high-performance entry point for new clients and as a sophisticated, results-driven treatment for existing ones.

At the Melbourne launch, you spoke openly about the ROI. Can you share more?

In under four months, we performed around 200 Glacē treatments at $289 each, bringing in approximately $58,000 and paying off the device in around 7–8 weeks.

This success came from team buy-in and strategy. Our therapists, with diverse backgrounds and skillsets, all saw the same impressive results and enthusiastically recommended Glacē as an upgrade to standard facials. With 13–15 treatments per week and a client return rate over 85%, it’s now a pillar of our skin offering.

How do you use Glacē in pre- and post-aesthetic care?

We use Glacē as both a stand-alone and a foundation treatment. Hydrodermabrasion cleanses, exfoliates, and infuses antioxidant serums, while dual-mode cupping supports lymphatic drainage and skin detox. It creates the perfect hydrated canvas for energy-based devices like lasers, IPL, RF tightening, and even injectables.

It’s ideal as an “in-between” reset facial, high-performance but restorative, supporting barrier repair, healing, and client engagement between more intensive treatments. Since introducing it, 2 in 3 clients have upgraded advanced services to include Glacē Treatment beforehand, boosting per-appointment revenue and enhancing results.

From barrier support to treatment stacking, Glacē Treatment has given Bella Pelle a way to blend relaxation with results and deliver a client experience that drives loyalty, referrals, and sustainable growth. As Carly sums it up: Discover the Glacē difference with Candelacandelamedical.com.

The Dream Team Behind Transformational Results

DR SAMANTHA DAVIDSON and TAHLIA

CUSACK on the Alma Harmony Advantage

Gold Coast Dermatology Clinic has been a trusted name in skin health since 1980, earning the title of the longest-running dermatology practice on the coast. When dermatologist Dr Samantha Davidson took over in 2015, she brought with her a vision to evolve the clinic beyond its traditional medical roots. Under her leadership, the practice has transformed into a full-spectrum dermatology destination, offering medical, surgical, aesthetic, and advanced laser treatments. Many of the original patients still attend, a testament to the clinic’s long-standing reputation for safety, results, and patient care.

A Collaborative Force

In 2022, dermal and laser therapist Tahlia Cusack joined the team, and quickly became integral to its evolution. Demonstrating leadership and clinical excellence well beyond her role, she now serves as the practice manager, and lead dermal therapist. Together, Dr Davidson and Tahlia have created a uniquely collaborative environment, expanding the clinic’s offerings while ensuring consistency and continuity in patient care.

“We both know almost every patient the other is seeing,” Dr Davidson says. “That level of communication and care ensures we’re aligned on goals and outcomes.”

Smart Technology, Streamlined Workflows

With the clinic’s growth came logistical challenges. “We often had full rooms and too many devices to juggle,” explains Dr Davidson. “It became clear we needed something more efficient.” Enter the Alma Harmony, a multimodal laser platform chosen for its versatility and ability to streamline treatment delivery.

“The Harmony allowed us to consolidate multiple treatments into one system while expanding what we could offer,” says Dr Davidson.

She highlights key features:

• ClearSkin Pro: Boosted the clinic’s Rapid Access Acne Clinic by offering energybased solutions alongside topical and medical treatments.

• ClearLift Pro: Enabled safe and effective pigment treatment across a wider range of skin types, including skin of colour.

• Sleek design: The device’s aesthetic complements their modern clinical setting.

Patient-Centric Treatment Planning

At the heart of the clinic’s success is its patientfirst approach. Every treatment journey begins with an in-depth consultation that may include clinical imaging, thorough history-taking, and discussion of realistic goals.

“Most patients don’t come in with just one concern,” says Dr Davidson. “We aim to maximise their time with combination treatments that are not only more effective but also more satisfying for the patient.”

Regular reviews and strong compliance protocols support consistent outcomes. “We don’t just treat and forget, we follow up, reassess, and refine,” she adds.

In the Treatment Room with Tahlia Cusack

Tahlia’s clinical focus spans pigment correction, vascular treatments, and energy-based rejuvenation. Her approach is grounded in education and transparency, helping patients understand the ‘why’ behind their treatment plans and what results to expect over time.

She has seen strong results with:

• VascuPen and ClearVas for facial vessels and rosacea

• ClearLift Pro for melasma and sun damage “These modalities don’t just deliver quick results, they build long-term skin health and resilience,” Tahlia explains. Known for her honest and empathetic style, she’s developed a loyal following. “Patients appreciate that we’re realistic but still results-driven.”

Comfort, Compliance, and Results

Combination treatments have become particularly popular at the clinic, thanks to their comfort and efficacy. “When treatments are comfortable, patients are more likely to stick with the process,” says Dr Davidson. This compliance is especially important in protocols like acne management, where consistency determines results.

A Strategic Investment

Dr Davidson is pragmatic about technology investment. “Patients often come in asking for a specific treatment they saw online, but what they actually need might be something else entirely.”

Quoting Maslow, she adds: “If the only tool you have is a hammer, you treat everything like a nail. The Harmony gives us a full toolbox, so we’re never limited.”

Another major advantage? No consumables. “We don’t hesitate to do test patches or smaller treatments because we’re not worried about ongoing costs,” she explains.

Skin Health at Every Stage

With patients ranging from children to those in their 90s, the clinic’s philosophy centres on lifelong skin health, not just anti-ageing. “We’re here to support skin through every stage of life,” says Dr Davidson. “Healthy skin is glowing skin, no matter your age.”

Evolving with Purpose

The story of Gold Coast Dermatology Clinic is one of quiet transformation, rooted in medical excellence, strengthened by collaboration, and elevated by technology. Rather than following fleeting trends, Dr Samantha Davidson and Tahlia Cusack have focused on delivering enduring results, guided by science and a deep understanding of patient needs.

Their integration of the Alma Harmony platform is a reflection of this philosophy. As Dr Davidson puts it, it’s not about doing everything at once, it’s about starting with what works and building from there.

“There’s a handpiece for every skin type,” she says. “Once you understand the fundamentals, the real power comes in how you combine them.”

New Cosmetic Advertising Guidelines Released With More Changes On The Horizon

From confirmed advertising restrictions to reported reforms in nurse entry and telehealth, the non-surgical cosmetic industry enters a new phase of regulation.

For the past six months, Australia’s aesthetic medicine industry has been anticipating updated guidance from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). This week, that update arrived.

While coverage in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age highlighted reforms to telehealth protocols, cosmetic nurse entry pathways, and the use of AI-generated before-and-after imagery, AHPRA’s newly released Guidelines for Advertising Higher Risk Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures are focused specifically on advertising standards. These confirmed guidelines will become mandatory as of September 2, 2025, providing practitioners, marketers, and clinic teams with a three-month compliance window.

Confirmed: What’s Changing in Advertising

Although much of this was previously understood, AHPRA’s guidelines now clearly define higher-risk procedures as those involving Schedule 4 medicines, elevated clinical complexity, or the potential for serious harm, whether physical or psychological.

Examples include:

• Cosmetic injectables (including fat-dissolving treatments)

• Thread lifts

• Sclerotherapy and microsclerotherapy

• Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections

• Biotherapy (e.g. stem cells, growth factor injections)

• Hair transplants

• Cosmetic dental procedures (e.g. veneers)

Key confirmed changes to advertising include:

• A complete ban on the use of influencers or ambassadors to promote cosmetic procedures, whether paid or gifted

• A ban on testimonials, including reposted patient reviews or stories

• Prohibition of AI-generated or filtered before-and-after imagery

• Stricter rules for image use (e.g. matching lighting, context, and timeline) and required disclaimers

• All marketing must communicate risks, recovery periods, and the variation in outcomes

• Content must not target or be exposed to those under 18

• Frequent or excessive cosmetic procedure posting is discouraged, as it may contribute to body dissatisfaction or normalise intervention

One of the more unexpected inclusions is AHPRA’s stance on over-

posting. The guidelines suggest that even fully compliant content, if shared too frequently, can contribute to harm. While not yet widely unpacked this raises new questions for clinics about how often they can post without crossing an ethical line, adding a somewhat subjective layer to what was already a complex area of compliance.

Reported (Not Yet Confirmed): Broader Reforms Under Review

In parallel to the confirmed guidelines, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age have reported this morning that AHPRA is reviewing broader regulatory areas, including:

Telehealth Consultations

AHPRA is reportedly set to strengthen requirements for telehealth consultations related to cosmetic procedures. The focus is on improving the quality and depth of these interactions. Practitioners may soon be expected to conduct more comprehensive assessments that include discussions of alternative treatments, evaluation of patient expectations, and the use of a formalised consent process supported by a structured checklist.

Nurse Entry Requirements

The reports also suggest that newly qualified nurses may soon be required to complete one year of full-time clinical experience in a non-cosmetic setting before entering the aesthetic sector. This would address ongoing concerns around anatomical knowledge and clinical judgment.

Patients Under 18

Another reported reform is the potential introduction of a mandatory seven-day cooling-off period after the first consultation for patients under 18 before any injectable or cosmetic procedure may proceed.

What Clinics Should Do Now

With the advertising guidelines now confirmed and enforceable from September 2, 2025, clinics and marketers are encouraged to use the next three months to:

• Audit existing marketing materials and social media content

• Reassess partnerships with influencers or brand ambassadors

• Review consent, photography, and advertising processes

• Train staff on the new compliance expectations, particularly around tone, frequency, and presentation

Unleashing the Power of Skin Recovery

Dermalogica PRO’s Exo Booster

In the evolving world of professional skincare, treatments that blend advanced science with real, visible results are the gold standard. Dermalogica PRO’s Exo Booster is the latest innovation redefining what’s possible in skin rejuvenation. Powered by vegan exosome technology, this professional-grade booster is specifically designed to support skin recovery, restore resilience, and dramatically revitalise the skin’s overall appearance.

What is the Exo Booster?

The Exo Booster is a targeted, leave-on professional serum developed to enhance posttreatment results. It is used during advanced skin services and is ideal for integration with technologies such as microneedling, nano-infusion, and other skinrejuvenating modalities.

Its hero ingredient? Exosomes – tiny, bioactive vesicles naturally produced by skin cells that act as messengers, helping to coordinate repair and regeneration. By harnessing biomimetic exosome technology, Dermalogica PRO has formulated a vegan exosome booster that stimulates the skin’s own repair mechanisms without irritation, making it suitable even for sensitive or compromised skin post-treatment.

Why Exosomes Matter in Skincare

Exosomes are at the cutting edge of dermatological science. These micro-vesicles carry growth factors, peptides, and other molecular signals that influence cell behaviour, particularly healing and regeneration. When applied topically in a carefully stabilised formulation, as in the Exo Booster, they can deliver messages to the skin that promote firmness, elasticity, hydration, and barrier strength.

Unlike traditional active ingredients that may focus on exfoliation or superficial stimulation, exosomes work deep within the skin’s cellular network, offering long-term benefits for clients concerned with ageing, sensitivity, dullness, or slow recovery post-treatment.

Clinical-Level Results, Without Downtime

One of the standout features of the Exo Booster is its ability to deliver advanced results with minimal to no downtime. In clinical observations, skin treated with the Exo Booster showed improved barrier recovery, reduced redness, and increased hydration following professional treatments. This makes it an ideal choice for:

• Post-microneedling recovery

• Soothing sensitised or reactive skin

• Restoring barrier strength after chemical peels or exfoliating treatments

• Boosting overall radiance and resilience in dull, tired skin

Its lightweight texture and fast-absorbing formula make it an effortless addition to any professional treatment protocol, and its neutral scent and colour mean it won’t interfere with other formulas layered in the service.

Key Benefits and Ingredients

• Vegan Exosome Technology: Encourages communication between skin cells to enhance recovery and support regeneration.

• Pro Resolution Technology: Omega 3 derived from algae to accelerate wound healing and skin recovery.

• Hydrating Complex: Includes humectants that deeply replenish moisture without heaviness.

• Barrier-Strengthening Agents: Help restore the skin’s lipid matrix and calm signs of irritation.

• Antioxidant Support: Defends against environmental stressors and supports collagen health.

Elevating the Client Experience

From a business perspective, the Exo Booster is a powerful tool for enhancing service outcomes and building client trust. When clients experience faster recovery and noticeable improvements after treatments, they are more likely to rebook, commit to a full treatment plan, and explore other professional offerings.

It’s also a high-value add-on that supports both treatment efficacy and client satisfaction, perfect for clinics looking to offer something innovative and results-driven without having to invest in additional devices or extended treatment times.

Enhance your services

The Dermalogica PRO Exo Booster is more than just another serum, it’s a cutting-edge innovation that bridges the gap between science and skin health. Backed by the trusted Dermalogica PRO line, it empowers skin therapists to deliver enhanced recovery, visibly brighter and healthier skin, and a client experience that reflects the latest in skin science. Whether you’re seeking to elevate your post-treatment protocol or offer clients a new way to boost their skin’s resilience, the Exo Booster is a must-have for results-oriented professionals. Cosmetic Nursing in Australia

Growth, Governance and the Power of a Collective Voice

The aesthetics industry has experienced exponential growth across Australia over the past decade, particularly in the five years following the COVID-19 lockdowns. Demand for cosmetic procedures has surged as patients, having spent extended periods in isolation, turned their focus inward. Increased screen time and social media exposure amplified self-criticism and the desire for self-improvement. These changing perceptions, paired with an industry-wide push to market the ‘sexiness’ of aesthetic treatments, fuelled a consumer boom, and sparked a regulatory response.

To curb overpromotion and perceived harm, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) enacted sweeping advertising bans for cosmetic medical services. While well-intentioned, these restrictions have left a significant information gap for patients. Those seeking treatments can no longer easily access details about available procedures or align themselves with practitioners whose values and approach suit their needs. Instead, they may fall prey to noncompliant advertising or turn to overseas providers whose regulatory frameworks are vastly different.

Recognising the need for a unified voice and better support, the Cosmetic Nurses Association (CNA) was formed in 2020 by a group of passionate professionals. Their goal was to advocate for nurses practising in the aesthetic space and create a platform for improved governance, education, and support.

Since its inception, the CNA has worked tirelessly to engage with AHPRA, the Nursing and Midwifery Board, and the TGA to protect and promote the scope of practice for Enrolled Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners alike. They emphasise that a nurse’s scope is not determined by title alone, but by their training, experience, and application of evidence-based medicine.

CNA members are held to high standards, with ongoing access to education through webinars, conferences, and mentorship programs. This ensures patients can feel confident that CNA-affiliated nurses are not only compliant, but deeply committed to delivering safe, ethical, and effective care.

What’s often lost in the noise is that cosmetic medicine is, fundamentally, medicine. Whether or not it is officially recognised as a specialty by AHPRA, it demands deep clinical knowledge, advanced consultation skills, and patient-focused communication to ensure safe and effective outcomes. These skills sit within the scope of practice for doctors, nurses, and dentists, with additional training. However, there is currently no standardised or recognised training pathway, leading to vast discrepancies in practitioner competency and education.

In the year ahead, the CNA is focusing on expanding access to regional education, encouraging collaboration among peers, and supporting nurses in running efficient, compliant businesses. The ultimate aim? To elevate the industry from within creating a network where nurses feel empowered, patients feel safe, and best practices are upheld.

As the CNA’s profile has grown, so too has its influence. Today, the association is recognised as a key stakeholder by regulatory bodies, advocating not just for nurses, but for the sustainability and integrity of the entire industry.

Setting a New Standard in ProcedureComplementary and Daily Skin Care

We sat down with Epios Cosmetic Clinic and NB Skin to learn why they trust Alastin Skincare®

As the demand for advanced aesthetic treatments continues to rise, more clinics are seeking skincare partners that don’t just maintain results, but actively enhance them. Alastin Skincare, an integral part of the Galderma family, has quickly earned a reputation as a must-have for both pre- and post-procedure care. We spoke to Dr Adina and Anna from Epios Cosmetic Clinic, as well as Nuala from NB Skin, to understand why Alastin® has become their go-to.

Science-Backed Simplicity

At Epios Cosmetic Clinic, known for its meticulous, results-driven approach, every product recommendation is rooted in evidence. Dr Adina explains, “Our patients are smart, informed, and busy, they don’t want 10-step routines. Alastin offers science-backed simplicity: smart peptides and evidence-based ingredients without frills or unnecessary packaging. As a doctor-only clinic, our philosophy centres on quality of care, and Alastin fits that perfectly.”

Anna adds that while they continue to offer other skincare lines for active-focused products, Alastin has become their primary choice for procedural support. “When Bryce and Paras introduced Alastin to us, we felt valued from day one. The customer service is exceptional, and the scientific backing makes it so easy to confidently recommend to patients.”

Enhancing Recovery, Elevating Results

One of the standout strengths of Alastin is its ability to improve clinical outcomes and recovery experiences. Dr Adina shares a memorable patient story: “We had a patient whose under-eye area had been damaged from a previous treatment at another clinic. After years of various modalities, we suggested she try the Alastin Restorative Eye Complex before returning for collagen induction. Eight weeks later, her results looked photoshopped. It was a turning point for her, and for us.”

Epios Cosmetic Clinic, now integrates Alastin as a compulsory aftercare component for treatments like Morpheus8, boosting collagen production and accelerating healing. Pre-treatment, products like the A-LUMINATE Brightening Serum® and Restorative Skin Complex prep the skin, ensuring it’s in optimal condition before any in-clinic work begins.

Anna highlights how this integration extends beyond recovery. “For example, we pair A-LUMINATE Brightening Serum with pigmentfocused BBL or chemical peels, and the Restorative Neck Complex supports results after our collagen-induction treatments. Patients see better outcomes and feel more invested in their skin journey.”

Communicating Value to Patients

For many clients, the idea of clinically formulated pre- and posttreatment skincare may be new. Epios Cosmetic Clinic finds that clear,

evidence-based communication is key. “We rely heavily on Alastin’s clinical studies and marketing materials,” says Anna. “Patients love seeing biopsies, before-and-afters, and data. It empowers them to make informed choices and builds trust beyond just taking the doctor’s word.”

NB Skin: A Commitment to Science

For Nuala from NB Skin, scientific credibility was non-negotiable when choosing a new skincare partner. “The most important factor when choosing a range for my clinic (and ultimately my clients) is the research, development, formulation, scientific papers, and clinical studies. Alastin ticks all these boxes,” she says.

She was especially drawn to TriHex Technology®, which removes damaged collagen and elastin and helps improve recovery time helps to restore a youthful appearance of the collagen and elastin depleted skin. “All clients want a seamless, quick recovery. TriHex is unique, and products like TransFORM even improve results from body sculpting treatments and helps with crepey skin.”

Patient Education and Compliance

Nuala finds that when clients understand the “why” behind Alastin, compliance naturally follows. “I get great compliance because I take the time to explain how it works to improve their results. Clients see the long-term benefits and often come back to repurchase. I’ve even noticed a great change in my own skin,” she shares.

Memorable Client Wins

Nuala recalls a client who was hesitant to switch from her usual routine. “I demonstrated Alastin on the back of her hand, and she came back three days later amazed at the difference. Her skin was plumper and more hydrated, even her 11-year-old son noticed! She’s now a total convert.”

Another client chose a cheaper aftercare product despite Nuala’s advice. “I had applied the Skin Nectar post-treatment without any reaction, but the next day she tried her own product and experienced pain and stinging. She immediately came back for the Skin Nectar and was so grateful.”

Redefining Skin Health

Both Epios Cosmetic Clinic and NB Skin emphasise that skincare should not just be a cosmetic afterthought but a proactive extension of treatment outcomes. With evidence-based formulations, strong clinical backing, and real-world results, Alastin empowers practitioners and clients alike to achieve healthier, more resilient skin.

For these leading clinics, Alastin isn’t just skincare, it’s an essential partner in delivering truly transformative care.

The Hidden Cost Of Care In Aesthetic Practice

Why the

mental health of injectors and aesthetic practitioners deserves more attention than ever before.

In an industry driven by precision, results, and client satisfaction, the emotional demands placed on aesthetic practitioners are often overshadowed by their clinical obligations. Yet behind every perfect lip, softened frown line, or rejuvenated complexion is a professional managing not just the physical outcomes, but the mental toll that can come with them.

As aesthetic medicine continues to grow, so too does the need to protect the well-being of those delivering it. Unlike hospital environments where teams are often equipped to deal with adverse events collectively, aesthetic practitioners, particularly those in solo practice, often carry the emotional weight alone. The pressure to deliver consistent, flawless outcomes is high, while public conversations about mental health support remain relatively scarce.

A Profession That Demands Perfection

The aesthetic field, by its nature, attracts high-achieving individuals. Many injectors and dermal therapists are perfectionists, trained to notice the subtlest irregularities, and expected to correct them with confidence and speed. While these qualities benefit patients, they can leave clinicians vulnerable to self-criticism, especially when complications occur.

Vascular occlusions, poor treatment outcomes, or even a client’s dissatisfaction, even when unwarranted, can trigger intense emotional responses. Shame, doubt, and anxiety often follow, compounded by the perceived need to maintain composure and professionalism.

Burnout and Rumination in Private Practice

While terms like burnout are well-recognised in healthcare more broadly, they remain under-discussed in the aesthetic realm. Many

practitioners work in isolated environments or are business owners themselves, which means their personal well-being is frequently deprioritised in favour of operational demands. Without structured support or regular team debriefs, practitioners may find themselves ruminating on clinical decisions long after hours, questioning their competence or fearing reputational damage.

Common warning signs include emotional detachment, loss of joy in work, chronic fatigue, and avoiding clinical days altogether. Left unaddressed, these patterns can lead to burnout or even premature exit from the profession.

Normalising the Emotional Experience

One of the most powerful steps we can take as an industry is to normalise the emotional side of this work. This means acknowledging that adverse events don’t just require clinical protocols, they also require emotional processing. It means shifting the narrative from “don’t make mistakes” to “you’re human, and you’re not alone.”

We spoke to leading practitioner and educator Dr Kate Jameson about her own experience navigating the emotional impact of complications, and the changes she believes are needed to better support those in the field.

Kate, you’ve spoken candidly about the emotional toll of complications. Can you describe what goes through your mind in the immediate aftermath of an adverse event like a vascular occlusion?

In the immediate aftermath, it’s like time slows down, but your heart races. There’s an acute rush of adrenaline and a hyper-focus on clinical

decision-making. But layered beneath that is panic. A voice that whispers, Did I just harm someone?

You’re navigating protocols while managing a patient’s fear and trying to appear composed. Afterwards, once the crisis passes, it hits you: shame, guilt, self-doubt. Even when you do everything right, you replay every step obsessively. It’s an emotionally isolating experience because we’re trained to be calm under pressure, but not necessarily to process the emotional weight that follows.

In a field that values precision and control, how can practitioners process the feelings of self-doubt or failure that often follow unexpected outcomes?

It starts with acknowledging that self-doubt is a human response, not a professional weakness. The aesthetics industry sets high standards; we are expected to deliver perfection, which leaves little room for the unpredictable nature of medicine. I’ve found it helpful to reframe these moments as part of the growth process rather than evidence of failure. Peer conversations, clinical debriefs, and focusing on my professional development have helped me separate my identity from the outcome.

up emotionally. Supervision and clinical mentorship have been invaluable, especially in the earlier stages of my career. Having a large clinical team around me has ensured I feel supported.

I also invest in ongoing education, especially advanced training and ultrasound use, which reinforces both skill and confidence.

The biggest shift has come from connecting with peers who’ve been through similar events. Just hearing “I’ve been there too” can be a lifeline. Confidence doesn’t return all at once, it rebuilds with each safe, successful patient interaction where you remind yourself that you are capable, prepared, and still growing.

How can clinics better foster a culture of psychological safety, especially for newer injectors facing their first complications?

We also need to remember that complications don’t equal incompetence. They’re a clinical reality and something we must be prepared to manage every time we treat a patient. Processing these emotions openly and with compassion for ourselves is how we maintain both resilience and integrity.

Burnout and rumination are common yet underdiscussed in aesthetics. What signs should clinicians look out for in themselves and their peers?

Clinicians may notice a growing sense of dread before clinic days, emotional detachment from patients, or a lack of satisfaction from procedures they once enjoyed.

Rumination often shows up as replaying scenarios in your mind, second-guessing every choice, even outside of work hours. Watch for mood swings, irritability, or isolation. Subtle signs in peers might include withdrawal from team discussions or reluctance to take on new patients.

Burnout rarely arrives dramatically, it creeps in. Recognising these signs early, especially in a field that prizes composure, is essential.

What strategies or practices have helped you personally rebuild confidence after a high-stress incident?

Rebuilding confidence begins with reflection. I allow myself to review what happened clinically, and also explore what it brought

It starts at the top. Clinic leaders must model vulnerability and openness, sharing their own past complications helps normalise them. New injectors should never feel they’re alone or that mistakes must be hidden. Formal debriefs after clinical incidents, regular team check-ins, and mentorship structures are key.

New staff should know exactly who to call in a crisis, not just clinically, but emotionally. Importantly, avoid a blame culture. Instead of “what went wrong,” ask “what did we learn?” Psychological safety means practitioners feel safe to speak up, ask questions, and show uncertainty, because those qualities ultimately lead to better care and safer outcomes.

If you could change one thing about how the aesthetics industry handles practitioner mental health, what would it be?

I would mandate emotional resilience training as part of aesthetic education, right alongside anatomy and complications management. We prepare injectors for adverse events clinically, but not psychologically. The emotional cost of this work is often hidden, and many leave the industry not because they’re incapable, but because they don’t feel supported.

We need to embed mental health awareness into the culture of aesthetics: mentorship, debriefs, burnout training, and access to peer support. Changing the narrative from “don’t mess up” to “you’re human, and we’re here for you” would create a stronger, safer, and more sustainable future for all of us.

ANew Skin in 5 Days! With Alex Herbal Peeling

lex herbs2peel is a professional skin resurfacing treatment that offers visible skin renewal in just five days – without the use of acids, heat, or synthetic agents. Developed and refined through clinical protocols at the Institute for Experimental Dermatology in Essen, Germany, this unique approach blends tradition with science.

The peel uses a complex of 14 micronized, biologically active herbs selected for their historical use in traditional, folk, and herbal medicine. While no clinical trials exist on the full compound, many of the individual herbs have been rigorously studied, particularly under the guidance of Germany’s Commission E.

Each plant was chosen for its dermatological contribution: antiinflammatory, regenerative, antioxidant, or circulatory stimulating. For example, silica-rich Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) supports skin regeneration. Calendula, a well-known cicatrisant, is praised in historical texts and supported by modern studies for enhancing wound healing. The compound’s synergy provides a gentle mechanical exfoliation while nurturing and protecting the skin barrier.

The Procedure

The peel is delivered through a vigorous massage, allowing the herbal particles to penetrate and gradually release their bioactive compounds - including vitamins, minerals, and trace elements - over 48 hours. This accelerates the natural 28-day renewal cycle, compressing it into just five days.

Typically, peeling begins on day three and lasts about 24 hours. During this process, clients apply a dedicated cleanser, a soothing moisturiser, and a BB Cream designed to protect and conceal. By day five, the skin is ready for the Reveal Treatment, during which remaining dead skin is gently massaged off. A

targeted mask treatment follows, delivering nourishing actives to the freshly renewed skin.

The new skin appears even-toned, fresh, and healthy - without the trauma, inflammation, or extended downtime associated with chemical or laser resurfacing.

Treatment Options

The standard C-Peel (Corrective Peel) provides transformative results with approximately 24 hours of visible peeling. However, alternative protocols are available to suit different needs and lifestyles:

• B-Peel (Beauty Peel): A no-downtime, 1-hour treatment using a lower dose of herbs. It revitalizes the complexion, leaving the skin smooth and radiant.

• Phyto-Peels: Four advanced formulas targeted to specific skin conditions (e.g., pigmentation, congestion, ageing, sensitivity). These treatments may cause light shedding but generally involve no disruption to daily activities.

Applications

Originally developed for acne-prone skin, Alex herbs2peel has since proven effective for a range of concerns: pigmentation, congestion, dullness, premature ageing, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, and mild scarring. It is suitable across all Fitzpatrick skin types and shows excellent results on deeper tones, including Indian and Middle Eastern skin.

Therapists report strong outcomes with sun-damaged skin and reactive conditions, with noticeably improved clarity, resilience, and luminosity after just one cycle.

Murad Taps NAD+ for NextLevel Overnight Rejuvenation

Murad’s Retinal ReSculpt Overnight Cream combines encapsulated retinal and a proprietary NAD+ Complex to visibly lift, repair, and restore skin while you sleep

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) has taken centre stage in longevity science, and Murad is one of the first skincare brands to harness its power in a bioavailable, topical form. The brand’s new Retinal ReSculpt Overnight Cream combines next-gen delivery systems, retinaldehyde, and Murad’s proprietary NAD+ Complex to support overnight skin repair in a way that’s both advanced and gentle.

We sat down with Charlotte Clarke, Pro Sales Manager at Murad Australia, to explore the science behind this innovation and why NAD+ could be the missing link in unlocking more youthful, resilient skin.

Why NAD+ and why now?

“Dr Murad has always believed that skin is a reflection of total body health,” says Clarke. “With the growing focus on cellular energy and bioenergetics in longevity science, it was a natural evolution for us.”

She explains that NAD+ plays a vital role in cellular repair and mitochondrial function, but levels decline significantly with age, up to 87% by age 50. This depletion impacts collagen production, slows skin recovery, and accelerates visible ageing. “By stimulating the skin’s own NAD+ production, we’re addressing one of the root causes of agerelated skin decline, not just the surface symptoms.”

How does NAD+ support overnight skin repair?

“Nighttime is when the skin naturally goes into repair mode, but that process becomes less efficient with age,” says Clarke. “NAD+ fuels ATP (cellular energy), activates sirtuins, and powers essential repair processes.”

When paired with encapsulated retinal, known for increasing cell turnover and improving firmness, NAD+ enhances the environment in which retinal works. “The result is a synergistic approach to overnight rejuvenation that repairs and resurfaces without compromising comfort,” she adds.

What makes Murad’s NAD+ Complex different?

Rather than applying unstable topical NAD+, Murad’s formula stimulates endogenous NAD+ production. “We use niacinamide, a well-known NAD+ precursor, combined with sunflower sprout extract to upregulate NAMPT, the enzyme responsible for converting niacinamide into NAD+,” Clarke explains. “This bioenergetic approach provides a steady, bioavailable source of cellular energy, right where the skin needs it most.”

How do these actives work together in the Retinal ReSculpt formula?

“Retinal is incredibly effective at smoothing texture and firming skin, but it needs a supportive environm ent,” says Clarke.

Murad’s formula combines:

• Encapsulated Retinal (in phosphatidylcholine nanovesicles) for 2.5x more efficacy* and minimal irritation

• NAD+ Complex to recharge cellular energy and optimise retinal performance

• Lipid Complex with alfalfa, squalene, hyaluronic acid, and mango seed butter to restore barrier function and hydration

“Together, this trio works in harmony,” she explains. “Retinal resurfaces, NAD+ recharges, and lipids restore, delivering visible lifting, firming, and hydration with minimal irritation.”

So how much of the transformation is thanks to NAD+?

“Retinal is the engine, but NAD+ is the fuel,” Clarke says. “Retinal drives change, but without energy, skin can’t efficiently rebuild. By boosting ATP and mitochondrial health, NAD+ enables retinal to work faster and better, making the results not just visible, but transformational.”

Understanding Nerve Flossing

What It Is,

How To Do It, and Why You Should Try with REBEKAH RAYMOND from StretchLab Double Bay

Have you ever felt a strange tingling sensation, or possibly a slight burning feeling down your neck, arms or legs when stretching?

This mostly likely is due to compression or constriction of nerves and nerve pathways that can be caused by injury, inflammation, lack of movement or repetitive strain. To alleviate these sensations we can “floss” these nerves. Nerve flossing, also known as nerve gliding or mobilisation, is a therapeutic technique designed to gently mobilise nerves that may be irritated or compressed. Unlike traditional stretching which targets muscles, nerve flossing specifically focuses on improving the mobility and elasticity of nerves, such as the sciatic, median or radial nerves. This helps to reduce pain and discomfort, numbness, weakness or tingling sensations.

What is Nerve Flossing?

Nerve flossing involves performing controlled movements in specific positions that slide the nerve and nerve pathways from one side to another, by flexing or contracting the pathways alternatively - up, down, up down - when the area of concern is in a steady stretch position. These exercises aim to break up adhesions and restrictions by restoring normal nerve mobility. This return to natural range of motion eases the uncomfortable symptoms caused by restricted nerve pathways, allowing the nerve to move freely, reducing nerve tension and irritation.

How to Do Nerve Flossing

Performing nerve flossing exercises requires proper technique and often guidance from a professional, especially if you’re experiencing chronic pain or nerve-related issues. Basic nerve flossing exercises include gentle, steady and slow movements involving limb and neck motions synchronised to glide the nerve. For example, when flossing the median nerve in the arm,

which extends from the armpit to wrist, you might extend your arm out at a 90 degree angle from the shoulder with the palm facing up, and move your hand up and down, then flex your neck to the opposite side and back to neutral position in synch with the hand flexions to enhance the nerve stretch or floss. It’s essential to perform these exercises slowly and within a pain-free range, avoiding any sharp sensations.

Why Do Nerve Flossing?

Nerve flossing can be highly effective in managing symptoms associated with nerve compression, such as sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, or cervical (neck) blockages. It promotes nerve health, improves circulation, and reduces inflammation, which can decrease recovery times and improve nerve function. Regular nerve mobilisation can also prevent future nerve entrapments by maintaining flexibility or glide in the nerve pathways.

Nerve Flossing & Assisted Stretching

At StretchLab Double Bay, one-on-one assisted stretching sessions are a personalised approach that ‘flosses’ nerves alongside improving flexibility and mobility of muscles, joints and fascia, which is a key to optimal movement health. Our trained stretch professionals assist clients through nerve gliding exercises tailored to individual needs, easing nerve restriction and restoring mobility efficiently. This targeted assistance ensures safe, effective nerve mobilisation, particularly beneficial for those with nerve pain, injuries, or chronic issues.

Incorporating nerve flossing into your wellness routine can significantly enhance mobility, reduce discomfort, and support longterm nerve health. Whether recovering from an injury or aiming to prevent nerve-related issues, nerve flossing is a valuable tool for achieving better movement and comfort.

Korean skincare is having more than just a moment—it’s become a movement. Known globally for its innovative ingredients, multi-step rituals, and glowing results, the K-Beauty boom has made its way into treatment rooms with one standout product leading the charge - LHALA Professional Peel.

Already a staple in elite clinics across Korea and rapidly gaining traction in Australia, LHALA is the professional resurfacing peel that’s rewriting the rules. With a reputation built on results and a formulation rooted in advanced skin science, this treatment has developed a cultlike following among beauty insiders, dermal therapists, and clients who demand visible change without invasive intervention.

At the heart of LHALA’s success is its impressive ability to deliver clinical outcomes without compromising skin integrity. The formulation uses patented botanical acids alongside amino-rich compounds to deeply exfoliate, renew, and stimulate skin without harsh peeling or extended recovery. In clinical use, practitioners report measurable improvements in tone, texture, acne, pigmentation, and visible fine lines within a single session—with cumulative results over time that rival more aggressive modalities.

For clinics, ease of use and versatility are two of LHALA’s strongest advantages. The peel requires minimal setup, no specialised devices, and delivers consistent, high-impact results whether applied manually or with advanced delivery systems such as JET or 10LDM technology. LHALA is suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types and gentle enough for year-

round use, including on sensitive, compromised, or rosacea-prone skin. This universal compatibility makes it a hero treatment in mixeddemographic clinics, where treatment options can otherwise be limited by patient diversity.

But what truly sets LHALA apart is the client response. In an era where skin-savvy clients research every ingredient and compare global offerings, Korean-developed formulas like LHALA are meeting the moment—offering luxurious experiences with proven efficacy.

With interest in non-invasive solutions at an all-time high and Korean skincare continuing to dominate beauty trends on social media, LHALA provides a timely opportunity for clinics to align with what modern clients want: treatments that are evidence-based, elegant, and effective.

You can also experience the power of LHALA firsthand at the Sydney Beauty Expo this August, where the team will be showcasing treatments and answering questions live. To further support treatment customisation, LHALA is compatible with two advanced delivery devices—Jet and 10LDM—giving clinics flexibility to tailor treatments to individual client needs.

Why clinics are turning to PRX Plus as the new standard in needle-free rejuvenation. Australia’s first Topical Biostimulator

Homocysteic acid and Ammonium

TCA: the breakthrough ingredients for clinically proven skin brightening and collagen stimulation

PRX PLUS is a revolutionary, globally patented topical skin booster that transforms skin quality without the need for injections, pain, or downtime. It offers an immediate and lasting effect by stimulating deep skin regeneration through a unique combination of active ingredients, most notably Homocysteic Acid (HCA).

How Does PRX PLUS Penetrate Deep Into the Skin?

Typically, topical skincare products struggle to reach beyond the skin’s outermost layer, the stratum corneum, limiting their efficacy in targeting deeper dermal structures. PRX PLUS overcomes this challenge through its patented formula, optimised to a low pH of 2, which softens the keratin in the skin’s surface layers. This action facilitates the penetration of its small molecular ingredients - especially Homocysteic Acid and Ammonium Trichloroacetate (ATCA), deep into the dermis.

Once absorbed, HCA initiates a biochemical cascade by reacting with ATCA, effectively removing ammonia from the ammonium salt and freeing HCA’s active acid form. This cascade promotes multiple cellular processes, including fibroblast stimulation and collagen synthesis, resulting in clinically observable skin rejuvenation.

The Role of Homocysteic Acid (HCA)

HCA acts as an NMDA receptor agonist on two critical skin cell types:

• Keratinocytes: Activation enhances cellular regeneration and epidermal turnover, smoothing the skin and promoting barrier strengthening.

• Melanocytes: HCA “empties” melanocytes by expelling melanin, which is then transferred to keratinocytes and naturally shed during accelerated skin turnover. This leads to a brightening and lightening effect on pigmentation irregularities. This dual mechanism supports improved skin texture, reduced pigmentation, and an overall radiant complexion without the irritation typically caused by aggressive peels.

Supporting Ingredients and Their Functions

• Ammonium Trichloroacetate (ATCA): Facilitates deep delivery and bioavailability of the low-concentration TCA derivative, activating

fibroblasts to stimulate new Type III collagen production, which tightens and firms skin.

• Citric Acid: An alpha-hydroxy acid that softens the outer skin layer by promoting exfoliation and keratinocyte apoptosis, enhancing skin renewal.

• Phytic Acid: A tyrosinase inhibitor that suppresses melanin synthesis and acts as an antioxidant by chelating iron, which reduces free radical damage.

Together, these ingredients provide a multi-layered approach, targeting the stratum corneum, epidermis, and dermis for comprehensive skin revitalization.

Clinical Benefits and Patient Outcomes

PRX PLUS delivers:

• No pain or downtime, making it ideal for patients with high pain sensitivity or those seeking quick skin rejuvenation before important events.

• Immediate improvements in skin hydration, firmness, radiance, and glow within 10 minutes.

• Long-lasting effects including enhanced collagen synthesis, strengthened skin barrier, and balanced skin homeostasis.

• Reduction in pore size, wrinkles, stretch marks, and pigmentation irregularities.

• Safe, needle-free application suitable for all skin types and seasons. Find out more, email info@hyperionaesthetics.com

Reducing Downtime and Elevating Care with Hirudoid

Cosmetic nurse JOSIE BROOKS discusses how this easy-to-use product has become a trusted part of her post-care protocol.

When it comes to aftercare for cosmetic procedures, nurse Josie Brooks doesn’t leave recovery to chance. As the founder of Josie Aesthetics, she incorporates Hirudoid cream into nearly every post-care plan.“It’s a simple yet effective addition that makes a real difference in patient recovery,” says Josie. “Especially with treatments where swelling and bruising can be more pronounced.”

Over time, she’s noticed a consistent trend, patients using Hirudoid experience noticeably faster and smoother recoveries.“The most consistent benefit is a reduction in the severity and duration of swelling and bruising. That gives patients the confidence to return to work or social events much sooner.”

In a time-poor world, reducing visible downtime is key to maintaining treatment frequency and patient satisfaction. Josie says Hirudoid is especially valuable for treatments performed in delicate or vascular areas like the lips or under-eye region.“For me, it’s about creating a seamless, patient-centred experience from start to finish.”

Josie has seen the contrast firsthand between clients who follow her recovery recommendations and those who skip topical

support.“There’s a clear difference in recovery outcomes. Clients using Hirudoid experience less inflammation, and many comment on how quickly their skin returns to normal.”

This improvement not only boosts patient confidence but also reduces post-treatment follow-up questions, streamlining the practitioner experience as well.

Patients often report visible results within 24 to 48 hours, especially when the product is applied consistently from day one.“That timeline aligns with my expectations for a product containing heparinoid, known for its anti-inflammatory and circulation-supporting properties.”

In addition to performance, Josie says ease of use makes Hirudoid a standout. There’s no complex routine, just a lightweight cream that absorbs quickly and fits easily into any skincare regime.

“It’s non-greasy, fragrance-free, and wears well under makeup, which makes it so easy for clients to stick with.”

That aftercare compliance is key. Josie notes that patients are more likely to follow through when the product feels comfortable and doesn’t interfere with their usual routine. “I haven’t had a single reaction or negative report. It’s well tolerated, even for sensitive skin types, and that gives me confidence in recommending it broadly.”

Client feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Many ask for the product again after just one use and continue incorporating it into their routine long after the initial treatment window.

“Personally, I even use it under my eyes to reduce puffiness in the mornings. It’s my go-to for managing surface swelling in delicate areas.”

With reliable results, high tolerability, and consistently strong patient feedback, Josie has made Hirudoid a standard part of her post-care protocol and now purchases it directly through Hirudoid’s newly launched wholesale site.

“It’s one of those rare products that patients enjoy using and can actually see results from, which means better compliance and better outcomes.” Learn more about Hirudoid or purchase it directly at hirudoid.com.au.

“I saw the flash and knew –we had a vascular occlusion.”

Inside the complication every injector fears

Sharna Hill is no stranger to clinical pressure. With more than 30 years of nursing experience and a cosmetic practice in South Perth, she’s seen a lot throughout her career.

But in August 2024, she faced a complication that tested everything she knew, and reinforced just how important medical oversight and compliance really are.

What started as a routine treatment turned into one of the most challenging moments of her career.

“We were treating the mid-face, and I had an entry point at the zygoma,” Sharna recalls. “As soon as I injected, I saw a big white flash. And I knew straight away – we had a vascular occlusion.”

In that split second, training and preparation kicked in. Sharna stayed calm, reassured her patient, and did what every injector hopes they’d do in that moment: she took the right steps, quickly.

“There’s no time to hesitate or panic. You just need to act, and know who to call.”

Her first call was to Fresh Clinics.

“I got straight onto the Fresh team. They were calm, clear, and incredibly supportive. They guided me through the reconstitution of Hyalase and helped me start dissolving right away.”

Over the next four to five days, Sharna used 17 vials of Hyalase – much more than many practitioners might expect to need.

“People often think you just inject Hyalase once and the problem’s solved. But that’s not always the case. You can’t predict where filler might embolise. You need to keep treating until the occlusion is resolved.”

Sharna credits her ability to manage the event not just to experience, but to being prepared with protocols, product, and support ready when she needed them.

“If I didn’t have the stock, or if I didn’t feel supported, it would’ve been a completely different story. That’s where having the right systems and people behind you matters.”

Today, Sharna’s patient is completely recovered. The clinic followed every safety protocol, documented the event clearly, and had a positive resolution. But the experience left a lasting impression.

“We’ve all been there, that moment where you weren’t sure what to do. Whether it was years ago or just last week, you remember it. Being part of a network that supports you, that gives you answers in real time, that’s invaluable.”

Sharna believes every practitioner should have a system behind them that works as hard as they do.

“You can be the most skilled injector in the world, but complications can still happen. It’s not a reflection of your ability; it’s a reminder that this is a medical procedure. You need protocols, people, and systems that have your back.”

For Sharna, Fresh Clinics made all the difference.

“Don’t wait until something goes wrong to find support. Have it in place from day one….We all think we’re prepared, but when a complication happens, it puts that to the test. Fresh helped me feel confident. I wasn’t alone.”

Where Clinical Outcomes Meet Luxury Endorsement

Trusted by Leaders in Aesthetics

From Australia’s most forward-thinking clinics to the world’s most exclusive luxury destinations, Icoone® is earning global recognition for its transformative results and innovative technology.

At the Christian Dior Spa at The Lana, Dubai, Icoone is part of the spa’s signature treatment menu, offered alongside coutureinspired rituals. Known for curating only the most advanced and indulgent experiences, Dior Spa’s inclusion of Icoone underscores its prestige and efficacy. Guests enjoy customised body and facial protocols designed to smooth, tone, and revitalise, delivering visible results without compromising the luxurious spa journey.

Trusted by Lumière Clinic, Sydney

Our very own Partnerships Manager Kym Cowper visited Lumière Clinic in Sydney to test out the treatment. The results speak for themselves.

“I recently experienced the Icoone treatment at the stunning Lumiere in Haymarket, Sydney. From the moment I stepped into this space, I knew it was something different,  delivering the best of clinical, medical, spa, and Eastern medicine all within one four-storey practice.

The journey began with a consultation with Dr. T, whose expertise in Traditional Chinese Medicine was nothing short of exceptional and incredibly accurate, I learnt my pulse was incredibly slow and she advised more warm teas! setting the tone for a truly personalised experience.

The Icoone treatment itself was deeply relaxing yet results-driven. The gentle rolling and suction technology worked seamlessly over my face and body, leaving me feeling instantly de-puffed, lighter, and more

sculpted. It’s one of those rare treatments that combines advanced technology with the indulgence of a spa-like ritual.

On my face, I noticed an immediate reduction in puffiness and a refreshed, lifted look, while my body felt smoother, firmer, and more energised. Beyond the physical results, the session was incredibly calming, the perfect reset for both skin and mind.

Lumiere truly elevates the experience with its luxurious multilevel space, expert practitioners, and holistic approach to wellness and Aesthetics.”

Proven Success Worldwide

Icoone is already a favourite in some of the world’s most exclusive locations, including Dior Spa in Dubai and the Olympic Games Cruise in Paris. International case studies from Europe and the U.S. show high client satisfaction, strong repeat bookings, and increased revenue streams for clinics.

Clinics worldwide are reporting:

• Visible skin texture improvement after as little as three sessions.

• Reduced swelling and bruising post-surgery.

• Improved skin elasticity and firmness across face and body.

• Enhanced lymphatic drainage after the first treatment.

The combination of patented Roboderm® technology, dual-handpiece operation, and fully customisable protocols positions Icoone as a high-ROI device for any clinic. Its reputation is cemented not only through clinical outcomes but also through its presence in luxury spaces like Dior Spa, where client expectations are nothing short of perfection.

Before After

The Transformative Buccal Lift and Sculpt Facial

Not at all as rough as it looks online.

There’s something deeply special about a treatment that surprises you, moves you, and leaves you floating out the door. The Vanessa Megan Buccal Sculpt and Lift facial at Spa by JW Gold Coast does exactly that, and more.

I’d seen many buccal massage or lymphatic treatments online and drawing on my lymphatic learnings from being a dermal, wondered is it worth the hype? Often I watched TikTok’s or reels thinking it looked rough, not relaxing or didn’t actually do anything to move lymph. How wrong I was.

The treatment is 120 minutes and is designed to sculpt, lift, and redefine facial contours.

As I settled in for my treatment, Miyuki my therapist placed a heat bag on my belly and wrapped me in a warm cocoon, a small but thoughtful detail that made me feel grounded and deeply relaxed before the facial even began.

The treatment began with a gentle cleanse, an eye treatment, and a light scrub to prepare my skin. Each product smelled incredible, sweet, fruity, and instantly uplifting. Next came a 20% lactic peel to brighten and refine, followed by a luxurious Vanessa Megan mask, which was infused deeply into the skin using a gentle vibrating tool. As the mask worked its magic, I enjoyed a soothing arm and foot massage, adding to the overall sense of calm and indulgence.

Next came the signature face and décolleté massage. This isn’t your typical facial massage, it’s slow, gentle, and lymphatic-focused. Each movement, from the neck and jawline to the crown of the head, was thoughtfully designed

to encourage drainage and release built-up tension. My therapist used slow, acupressure points to release tension around the scalp and crown, with delicate downward pressure that left me feeling like I was sinking blissfully into the treatment bed.

The area around the ears and jaw received special attention, creating a deep sense of openness and release. From there, the experience shifted into a more focused facial massage that gently warmed up the buccal muscles and helped sweep away tension around the eyes, with simultaneous massage movements above and below the eye.

When it was time for the much-anticipated buccal massage, I expected an intense, deep-tissue approach, as we often see online. Instead, it was surprisingly gentle, using the inside of the mouth more as an anchor point to access hard-to-reach facial muscles and ligaments that often go untouched during a regular facial. Rather than aggressively kneading, the therapist gently stretched and released these deeper layers, melting away months of tension held quietly in the jaw and lower face.

To finish, my skin was treated to a peptide amino acid serum, cell repair oil, and a nourishing day cream. The final touches left my skin deeply hydrated, plump, and radiating with a sculpted glow.

Afterward, I felt an unexpected wave of emotion, a gentle reminder that we hold so much stress and feeling in our facial muscles, often without realising it. As they say at Spa by JW, “the issues are in the tissues,” and this treatment truly helps release them.

Afterwards, I examined my face and was pleasantly surprised by the visible lift and sculpting, especially around the TMJ area, which looked smoother and more refined than I expected. The fascia release truly helped soften areas I would usually consider addressing with cosmetic treatments.

This experience is far more than skin deep, it offers both an emotional and physical release. It supports TMJ relief, encourages healthy energy flow, and leaves your skin luminous, plump, and sculpted from the inside out. If you’re looking for a treatment that is as therapeutic as it is transformative, the Buccal Lift and Sculpt facial is the ultimate reset you didn’t know you needed.

Luxury That Lasts

KNESKO’s Impact on Guest Experience and Spa Growth.

While we are immersed in the world of luxury wellness, client expectations have certainly shifted. Clients no longer settle for standard treatments, they seek immersive experiences, rituals of indulgence, and products that feel as good as they perform. For spas and clinics looking to stand out in an increasingly discerning market, the partnership between service and product must be seamless, sophisticated, and sensorial.

That’s where KNESKO comes in.

Founded by Lejla Cas, KNESKO has become a globally recognised name in premium collagen skincare, renowned for treatments that don’t just complement facials and body services, but transform them. Trusted by elite spa destinations including Four Seasons, Raffles, RitzCarlton, Crown, and the newly unveiled Mondrian Gold Coast, the brand has established itself as a staple in the luxury wellness space.

“KNESKO offers premium collagen treatments that elevate the guest experience while creating new revenue opportunities for spas and clinics,” explains Lejla. “Designed to integrate effortlessly into facials, massages, and body treatments, our collections are crafted to support and enhance the signature style of each spa.”

The value of this partnership goes beyond surface level. For many spa operators, integrating KNESKO is both a business strategy and a brand decision. The presence of a high-calibre product speaks volumes about a spa’s overall offering, reinforcing its identity and positioning it squarely in the realm of five-star care.

“KNESKO doesn’t just complement spa treatments, it enhances them,” Lejla says. “That enhancement translates into client loyalty, increased revenue, and a reputation for excellence.”

Emotional Luxury and Lasting Impact

While the word “luxury” often conjures images of opulence and exclusivity, Lejla believes true luxury is rooted in emotion.

treatment, the products being used are equally premium,” shares Lejla. “When spas retail KNESKO, they reinforce the value of their services while building an additional, high-margin income stream.”

“Luxury isn’t just about price, it’s about how something makes you feel,” she says. “The intentional use of KNESKO products has helped create moments of awe, indulgence, and deep relaxation. That emotional resonance is what builds loyalty, inspires referrals, and brings guests back again and again.”

In a competitive market, the ability to evoke feeling, beyond function, is a powerful point of difference. Whether incorporated into a glow-inducing facial or a grounding body ritual, KNESKO’s crystal-infused collagen masks and serums allow therapists to create meaningful moments that linger well beyond the treatment room.

Retail That Reinforces Value

For spas that retail the same KNESKO products used in treatment, the benefits compound. Offering guests the opportunity to take home the ritual not only deepens their connection to the experience, it naturally boosts retail revenue.

“Clients want to know that if they’re investing in a premium

A Partner in Premium: CIEL Spa at Mondrian Gold Coast

As the newest luxury wellness destination to launch in Australia, the long-anticipated CIEL Spa at Mondrian Gold Coast has taken great care in curating its offerings. For Spa Director Amy Hides, selecting KNESKO was an intentional move, one aligned with the spa’s overarching vision of quality and connection.

“We’ve chosen to use elegant products like KNESKO to signal quality, elevate the client experience, and build lasting loyalty with our clients,” says Hides. “Luxury skin and body care don’t just enhance treatments, they drive repeat visits, boost profitability, and ensure guest satisfaction. If you’re offering five-star treatments, the products used during and after the service should reflect that same standard.”

As CIEL Spa opens its doors this month, it joins a growing list of prestige properties aligned with KNESKO’s mission: to elevate, enrich, and emotionally connect through intentional luxury.

IThe Rise of a Cult Wellness Favourite

How founder AMY ZAPANTIS is redefining body care through performance, luxury and community

n just 12 months, AMATUS has carved out its place in some of Australia’s most premium wellness spaces, including luxury fitness clubs to high-end co-working hubs. The brand’s Revive Range is making waves for its science-backed formulations, indulgent textures, and inclusive approach to body and hair care.

We caught up with founder Amy Zapantis to hear how she turned a lifelong passion for wellness and community into a fast-rising brand and why AMATUS is more than just skincare, it’s a lifestyle.

AMATUS is fast becoming a cult favourite in some of Australia’s most premium wellness spaces. What was your vision when you launched, and did you anticipate this kind of early momentum?

When I launched AMATUS, I felt confident there would be a positive response, especially from niche wellness clinics and boutique stores, because that’s the community I came from. But I didn’t anticipate how quickly we’d gain traction. Within a year, we were partnering with toptier fitness and wellness centres both in Australia and internationally. From day one, my goal was to align with like-minded brands. Relationship-building across communities is a passion of mine. I wanted AMATUS to feel inclusive and elevated products that were luxurious, effective, but also accessible. Seeing it become a cult favourite in premium spaces has been incredibly validating.

There’s a clear shift toward performance-led skincare that supports both active lifestyles and recovery. How does the AMATUS Revive Range meet that need, and what sets it apart from traditional body care?

The Revive Range was designed with this shift in mind. Each product is infused with active, science-backed ingredients that support the skin’s natural recovery process. They’re multi-functional and made for all skin and hair types, ideal for people who demand results and value simplicity. What makes us different is that we don’t just offer hydration or a single benefit. Our products are formulated to address multiple concerns, while also delivering a luxurious sensory experience. You’ll find uplifting scents and indulgent textures, but also efficacy that’s rooted in science. AMATUS is about long-term results, not trends, making it a forever routine, not a fleeting one.

From boutique fitness clubs to high-end co-working spaces, AMATUS is showing up in places where skincare wasn’t traditionally a focus. Why do you think this crossover between beauty and lifestyle has become so powerful?

Modern consumers are embracing wellness as a lifestyle, not a separate activity. Skincare is no longer confined to the bathroom, people want to integrate it into their daily rhythms, whether that’s post-gym, between meetings, or as a wind-down ritual. We’re showing up in the spaces people frequent every day and elevating their experience with performance-driven skincare that enhances those moments. It’s a natural progression and aligns perfectly with our mission to make selfcare more accessible, relevant, and enjoyable, wherever you are.

You’ve already partnered with some of the most forward-thinking gyms and wellness spaces in Australia. How did those collaborations come about, and what do you think resonated most with these operators?

These partnerships came through genuine connection and shared values. I was already part of many of these communities, attending classes, using their services, so it was an organic fit. Our partners, like us, prioritise quality, innovation and holistic wellness. What stood out to them was AMATUS’s ability to marry science-backed results with a luxurious, accessible feel. They saw that we weren’t just another beauty brand, we were offering solutions that complemented their client experience and ethos. Together, we’re reimagining what self-care looks like in high-performance spaces.

What’s next for AMATUS? Can you give us a hint of what’s on the horizon?

We’re continuing to innovate within the performance skincare space with new, science-forward formulations to support skin health and recovery. You’ll also see more retail touchpoints, through pop-ups and curated in-store experiences, where we can connect directly with our community and allow them to explore the brand more intimately. And we’re deepening our global partnerships with premium wellness spaces to expand our presence in environments that prioritise daily routine and vitality. It’s just the beginning for AMATUS.

The Cortisol Trap

How Modern Women Are Burning Out Their Hormones and the Food Fix That Works, According to Clinical Nutritionist KATHERINE HAY

Modern Women, Modern Stress

Let’s be honest, today’s woman is doing it all. She’s managing a career, a relationship, trying to get pregnant (or trying not to), running a household, keeping social connections alive, and maybe even squeezing in a Pilates class or two. Underneath it all? She’s exhausted. But not just tired, hormonally burnt out.

This isn’t just “being busy.” It’s biological. Chronic stress drives up a hormone called cortisol, which, in high levels and over time, hijacks the entire endocrine system.

Cortisol: The Double-Edged Sword

Cortisol isn’t all bad. In healthy doses, it helps us wake up, stay alert, and respond to stress. But here’s the issue, our bodies can’t tell the difference between running from a lion and stressing about your inbox.

When stress becomes chronic, cortisol stays high. This disrupts ovulation, lowers progesterone, increases inflammation, impacts gut function, and decreases energy. Over time, it can contribute to hormonal conditions like PCOS, gut inflammation, irregular cycles, thyroid imbalances, anxiety, and even infertility.

This is what I call “The Cortisol Trap”, women living in a state of overdrive, unknowingly compromising their health and hormones.

The Food Fix: Eat to Soothe, Not Stress

Here’s the good news: you don’t need to quit your job and move to Bali to fix this. Food is one of the most powerful tools you have to support your nervous system and rebalance your hormones.

As a clinical nutritionist, here’s what I prescribe again and again:

• Prioritise protein: Protein helps stabilise blood sugar, which keeps cortisol in check. Aim for 25–30g per meal. Think eggs, slow-cooked lamb, quality collagen, or leftover chicken from dinner (yes, even for breakfast).

• Ditch the diet mentality: Undereating is a cortisol trigger. If you’re skipping meals, intermittent fasting without professional guidance, or having coffee on an empty stomach, you could be stressing your system more.

• Eat the carbs: Root veg, fruit, rice, sourdough. Carbs support serotonin production and can help lower cortisol when paired with protein and fat. No, carbs won’t ruin your life, but restriction might.

• Magnesium-rich foods: Think dark leafy greens, cacao, avocado, nuts, and seeds. Magnesium is nature’s chill pill and essential for hundreds of processes, including hormone metabolism.

“When stress becomes chronic, cortisol stays high.”

• Nervous System Nourishment Is Non-Negotiable It’s not just what you eat, it’s how you eat. Slow down. Chew your food. Eat without multitasking, make mealtimes a welcomed pause in your day. These are small shifts that signal safety to your body, and safety is what your hormones need to thrive.

I see it all the time in my clinic: women go from wired and tired to energised and fulfilled by making foundational shifts to how they nourish themselves. And I’m not talking about fads. I’m talking about real food, real habits, real change.

Burnout Isn’t Your Birthright

We weren’t designed to live in a permanent stress state. Your hormones are trying to talk to you. Exhaustion, heavy periods, PMS, poor sleep, low libido… they’re all signs of imbalance, not brokenness.

The first step? Focus on what’s on your plate, and how you move through your day. This philosophy is at the heart of what we do at Kaptured Nutrition and inspired the creation of supplements like All Things Better’s Stress & Sleep Support.

Modern women often need a little extra care, and building these foundations can make a meaningful difference to overall wellbeing and vitality.

Wellness that’s Working

Where work-life balance, community, and holistic health converge at The Commons Health Club, Melbourne’s newest wellness hub

In a world where our professional and personal lives often overlap, the need for spaces that nurture both has never been greater. Enter The Commons Health Club, Melbourne’s up-and-coming wellness sanctuary that goes far beyond a standard gym, combining premium fitness facilities with thoughtfully designed co-working spaces to support both body and mind. Nestled in South Yarra and Richmond, these members-only spaces are redefining how modern professionals approach health, community, and balance.

More than a place to train, The Commons Health Club offers a curated blend of movement, breathwork, cold and heat therapy, and recovery experiences designed to support the body and mind throughout the entire day. Functional movement zones, reformer Pilates, infrared saunas, magnesium baths, and DJ-led social gatherings transform it into a lifestyle hub for those who see wellness not as an occasional activity, but as a fundamental part of life.

From Coworking to Community-Driven Wellness

We asked Cliff Ho, Co-Founder and CEO what inspired the move from coworking to launching Melbourne’s largest social wellness club. He shared that for the team, it was a natural evolution.

“The Commons has always been about more than just workspaces, it’s about creating a community that thrives,” he explains. “After nine years of building and nurturing these communities, integrating wellness to further enhance the member experience was the obvious next step. The Commons Health Club is designed to support the physical and mental wellbeing of our members, in line with the growing shift, especially among younger generations, toward valuing holistic health and more balanced work lives.”

This philosophy isn’t just about adding yoga classes or an occasional wellness event; it’s about embedding wellness into the fabric of daily life. In a time where burnout is rampant and the demand for flexibility is higher than ever, The Commons Health Club offers a sanctuary where high performance and self-care aren’t mutually exclusive but deeply intertwined.

Shaping the Future of Work-Life Integration

The Commons team believes that business success and wellness are intrinsically linked. “When our members feel good mentally, physically, and emotionally, they show up better in business,” Cliff shares. “Our mission is to seamlessly integrate

“The Commons Health Club offers a curated blend of movement, breathwork, cold and heat therapy, and recovery experiences designed to support the body and mind throughout the entire day.”

workspace and wellness, allowing businesses and members to connect, grow, and live well.”

This vision positions The Commons as a leader in the cultural shift toward a more balanced, human approach to work. Rather than viewing wellness as a luxury, The Commons reframes it as a non-negotiable pillar for both personal fulfilment and professional success.

Thoughtful Design and Elevated Experiences

What sets The Commons Health Club apart from other fitness and wellness concepts is its architectural design and community-first approach. Every detail is carefully considered, from the flow of the spaces to the little touches that make each experience feel personal and elevated.

“Whether you’re starting your morning with a reformer Pilates class, taking a midday cold plunge between meetings, or unwinding with a sound bath at the end of the day, the space has been designed to support your entire day, not just your workout,” the Cliff explains.

One example is the Pilates studio, where each class has not one but two instructors: one to lead, and another dedicated to refining form and offering personalised guidance. This level of attention reflects the team’s global research, as they travelled to some of the world’s most inspiring wellness clubs to integrate the best ideas into one cohesive space.

Balancing Premium Quality with Accessibility

While the Health Club offers premium experiences, accessibility has remained a core consideration. “We’ve been intentional about creating a membership model that balances premium quality with accessibility,” Cliff notes.

Currently, limited founding rates start at $79 per week for full access to fitness classes and training spaces, and $119 per week for both fitness and bathhouse access, including the infrared sauna, cold plunge, and magnesium bath. Though still refining the final structure, The Commons aims to create an inclusive environment where holistic wellness is within reach for more people.

Intuitive and Holistic Offerings

With a wide range of experiences, from high-energy strength classes to candlelit yin yoga and DJ-led social nights, the Health Club mirrors the dynamic needs of modern lifestyles.

“We genuinely believe our members will love the contrast and balance across the experiences on offer,” Cliff shares. “One might start with an energising, musicled strength class, then move into a restorative magnesium bath. This reflects the way people want to train and recover today: intuitively and holistically.”

Infrared saunas and magnesium baths are anticipated to be crowd favourites, offering members not just physical recovery but a sense of ritual and relaxation. Meanwhile, the community-focused social events are designed to create meaningful connections, turning the Health Club into a true extension of its members’ lives.

Looking Ahead

As for what’s next? The Commons hints that there’s more on the horizon. While they’re keeping specific expansion details under wraps, they encourage wellness enthusiasts to follow along on social media for updates.

From its thoughtful design and unique programming to its commitment to fostering genuine community, The Commons Health Club represents the next evolution of urban wellness. It reimagines what a health space can be, transforming it from a place you “have to go” into one you genuinely want to be a part of every day.

In a world increasingly defined by disconnection and hustle, The Commons offers a refreshing new blueprint. One that prioritises human connection, holistic health, and sustainable high performance.

How Vitamin D and boostprobiotics wellness from within

From immune support to mood balance, discover why vitamin D, especially when paired with probiotics, is the unsung hero of holistic health, with insights from Lotta Johansson, Scientific Affairs, BioGaia.

Dubbed the ‘sunshine vitamin’, Vitamin D plays a pivotal role in maintaining strong bones, supporting immune function, and promoting muscle health. Yet despite our reputation for being a sun-drenched, outdoorsloving people, many Aussies are still falling short of their Vitamin D targets.

This is particularly pronounced during the cold months and for those of who have limited sun exposure. While sunlight remains the most efficient source of Vitamin D, dietary intake and supplementation are both essential for maintaining optimal levels.

Gut health meets immunity: a two-way street

The gut and immune system are in constant communication, and probiotics are the messengers that keep things running smoothly. Having a diverse and thriving gut microbiome has been linked to everything from stronger immune responses to better mental clarity.

Pairing Vitamin D with probiotics supercharges this symbiotic relationship. Research suggests that Vitamin D may enhance the growth of beneficial bacteria and reduce inflammation in the gut lining to support overall immune resilience.

This is where dual-action supplements that combine scientifically backed probiotic strains with vitamin D can offer a simple and effective way to support overall wellbeing. Alongside a healthy lifestyle and regular medical check-ups, vitamin D and probiotic supplementation has become a popular choice for many Australians looking to maintain their health.

Healthy habits to get the most out of Vitamin D and probiotic supplements

Rather than relying on one supplement alone, we should look to

foster consistent, healthy habits over the long-term. Eating a balanced diet rich in whole foods, incorporating regular movement, and taking advantage of daily probiotic support are all ways to establish a solid foundation for health. A holistic approach which integrates science-backed supplementation with healthy lifestyle choices is always encouraged.

In short:

• Stick to whole, unprocessed foods that nourish the gut

• Move daily, even light walking improves Vitamin D synthesis

• Prioritise consistent probiotic intake to support internal balance

• Stay hydrated and manage stress to optimise gut health

Why

gut

health matters

Medical professionals of all stripes understand that how you feel on the inside can influence how you look on the outside. Those seeking radiant skin, a more sunny outlook, more energy and enhanced vitality all stand to benefit from a little Vitamin D and a more balanced gut.

High-quality, clinically supported supplements are a great way to complement in-clinic treatments and get you radiant from the inside out. A more balanced gut also increases the efficacy of topical treatments, improves recovery times, and reduces inflammation. A healthy gut also optimises cognitive function and aids in nutrient absorption.

As we deepen our understanding of how the gut interacts with health outcomes from mental to physical wellbeing, science-backed solutions like probiotics with Vitamin D are a way to set the stage for better long-term health.

Unlocking the Body’s Intelligence with Spinal Energetics

A transformative approach where Science, Energy, and Deep Healing Meet

Spinal Energetics is emerging as a powerful new frontier in holistic health, a modality that uniquely blends structural, emotional, and energetic healing. Founded by Dr Sarah Jane Perri, a visionary healer and chiropractor, Spinal Energetics is changing the way we understand and approach the body, moving beyond the idea of simply “fixing” to a deeper process of reawakening.

At its core, Spinal Energetics recognises that life experiences, from stress to trauma, don’t just live in the mind. They imprint into the body, particularly the spine and nervous system. Rather than viewing physical symptoms in isolation, this approach integrates Eastern philosophy, somatic processing, and modern science to help release stored tension and restore coherence throughout the body’s physical and energetic layers.

Unlike many conventional treatments that focus only on structural alignment, Spinal Energetics works with the body as a whole. It uses gentle, precise contact points and the practitioner’s presence to guide the body in reorganising itself from the inside out. This is not about forcing or manipulating, but rather allowing the body’s innate intelligence to lead the healing process. Patients often experience subtle movements, shifts in breath, or emotional releases, natural signs that the body is processing long-held tension and returning to a state of balance.

Dr Sarah Jane’s own journey, shaped by personal experiences of loss and caring for her mother through illness, has deeply informed her approach. These moments, she says, did not break her but instead cracked her open, leading to a profound understanding of the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. Her extensive studies in Applied Science, Health Science (Chiropractic), Psychology, and Humanistic Buddhist Studies, along with ongoing studies in Chinese medicine, give her a rare ability to bridge Western medical knowledge and Eastern wisdom.

narrative from “fixing” a body to guiding it back to its own intelligence. As she explains, “We are not built in compartments. True healing happens when we see ourselves as whole.”

What sets Spinal Energetics apart is its respect for the body’s natural rhythms and its focus on creating safety within the nervous system. When the body feels safe enough to process what it holds, profound transformation can take place. This is not about dramatic emotional outbursts; rather, it is about helping people become more stable, grounded, and connected to their true selves.

Beyond her own practice, Dr Sarah Jane has trained hundreds of practitioners around the world. Her vision is to nurture a new generation of professionals who act as guides rather than “healers,” empowering clients to reconnect with and trust their own bodies. The global rise of Spinal Energetics highlights a shared shift away from quick fixes and toward deeper, more sustainable transformation. Today, there are over 750 certified Spinal Energetics practitioners worldwide, a testament to the modality’s growing impact.

Through her work, Dr Sarah Jane has shifted the

Looking ahead, Dr Sarah Jane is focused on expanding educational offerings, developing multilingual training, and integrating tools to measure outcomes more precisely. Her mission is to place Spinal Energetics at the heart of broader conversations about health, trauma, performance, and human development. In a world that often urges us to override or silence our bodies, Spinal Energetics offers a radically different invitation: to listen, trust, and heal from within.

For Chloe, the Préime DermaFacial isn’t just a new treatment, it’s a business catalyst. By offering a unique, luxury facial experience with proven results, her clinic has attracted a new wave of clients who value innovation, performance, and skin longevity.

Chloe Regan Cosmetic Clinic, a multi award-winner, is raising the bar in skin health with the introduction of the Préime DermaFacial. As one of the first clinics in Australia to offer this advanced five-in-one facial platform, Chloe is setting a new standard in results-driven treatments. We spoke with her about this game-changing technology and the glowing feedback it’s receiving from clients.

You’ve always focused on delivering high-quality, results-driven treatments. How did you feel when you found out the Préime DermaFacial would be joining your clinic offering?

I was genuinely excited. I’m always looking for ways to elevate the results we deliver, and the Préime DermaFacial perfectly aligns with our clinic’s philosophy, advanced technology, exceptional results, and a truly luxurious client experience. It also aligns perfectly with the needs of our forward-thinking clients who want to prioritise skin health with treatments that deliver visible results without downtime or trauma, helping maintain their skin between more intensive treatments.

What features or technologies of the Préime DermaFacial stood out most when you were deciding to invest in this advanced system?

The multi-technology platform was a standout, having five powerful modalities in one device allows us to customise treatments for every skin type and concern. The ability to combine deep cleansing, exfoliation, hydration, lifting, and skin-repairing modalities in a single session means we can deliver visible results from the very first treatment.

Since introducing the Préime DermaFacial, what kind of feedback have you received from your clients? Any standout moments or results?

The feedback has been phenomenal. Clients love how refreshed, plump, and glowing their skin looks immediately after. One standout moment was a client telling me it was the first time in years she felt confident leaving the clinic without makeup — that was a real highlight for me.

Are you pairing the Préime DermaFacial with any other treatments in your clinic? If so, what combinations are proving popular or effective? Yes - it pairs beautifully with LED light therapy for enhanced skin healing and glow, and with skin tightening treatments for a more lifted, youthful result that adds glow. We’re also integrating it into skin transformation programs alongside peels and microneedling for long-term rejuvenation.

What do you personally love most about the Préime DermaFacial, and how has it elevated your treatment menu or business offering?

I love the instant, visible results combined with a luxurious, relaxing client experience. From a business perspective, it’s elevated our facial menu to a whole new level offering clients something truly unique, adaptable, and results-focused. It’s also helped attract a new wave of clients who value skin health, want minimal downtime, and see the importance of maintaining their skin between more intensive treatments.

Smarter Resurfacing

Why Clinica Lase Founder CRYSTAL PATEL

Invested in the Deka Tetra PRO

At Clinica Lase, founder Crystal Patel has always taken a forward-thinking approach to technology, one that blends science, strategy, and skin integrity. As a nurse and trainer with years of clinical experience, Crystal is selective about what makes it onto the Clinca Lase treatment menu.

So, when the opportunity arose to bring the Deka Tetra PRO CO₂ laser into the fold, the decision was intentional.

Why Deka?

“We’ve always been focused on offering the most advanced technology with proven results,” says Crystal. “What really stood out with the Deka Tetra PRO was its versatility and precision. The ability to customise treatment depths and densities with such accuracy means we can treat a broader range of skin types and concerns, safely and effectively.”

Unlike some CO₂ systems that offer limited control, the Tetra PRO gives the Clinica Lase team the freedom to tailor every treatment, from subtle rejuvenation to intensive resurfacing with confidence.

A Philosophy-Driven Investment

For Crystal, the device had to align with the clinic’s treatment philosophy — results without unnecessary downtime or damage.

“At Clinica Lase, we’re not about over-treating, we’re about treating smarter. The Deka allows us to achieve noticeable outcomes while still respecting the skin barrier. That matters to us, and it matters to our patients.”

This balance between performance and recovery was a key factor in choosing the device, especially as more patients request treatments that deliver without disrupting their lifestyle.

Meeting Evolving Patient Needs

Clinica Lase has seen a growing number of patients seeking improvements in texture, scarring, and fine lines, but with a preference for less invasive solutions.

“The Deka Tetra PRO met that demand. We can offer light, skinrefreshing protocols like CoolPeel for patients who want a glow with minimal downtime, as well as deeper treatments when required,” explains Crystal.

This versatility has made it possible to personalise resurfacing plans, improving client satisfaction and broadening the clinic’s appeal to both new and returning patients.

Real Results, Minimal Downtime

Since introducing the Tetra PRO Crystal and her team have already seen strong feedback.

“The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Patients are loving the refined texture, clarity, and post-treatment glow. Even after lighter treatments, they’re seeing results. And on the clinical side, we’ve achieved excellent outcomes for scarring, rejuvenation, and fine lines, all with manageable downtime.”

It’s this combination of efficacy and client comfort that’s positioned the Tetra PRO as a standout addition to the clinic.

Advice for Other Clinics

As a respected trainer and business owner, Crystal says the key to choosing new technology is simple, start with your patients.

“Listen to what they’re asking for. Look at the gaps in your treatment offering. Then choose a device that delivers not just results, but aligns with your clinic’s values,” she says.

“Technology is evolving quickly, but not all devices are created equal. Flexibility, science-backed performance, and strong manufacturer support make all the difference.”

With the Deka Tetra PRO now in rotation, Clinica Lase continues to lead the way in skin health innovation, combining medical insight with a personalised, patient-first approach.

Why EXCEED Sets the New Standard in Microneedling

Building trust, expertise, and business success through precision microneedling and comprehensive practitioner education.

In an increasingly crowded microneedling landscape, the EXCEED medical microneedling device has emerged as a preferred choice among advanced skin professionals, but what truly sets it apart?

Engineered in Germany, EXCEED was designed with clinical precision and safety at its core. Its patented floating needle plate offers enhanced control and stability throughout each treatment, enabling practitioners to achieve precise depth and uniformity. This level of precision supports optimal clinical outcomes while minimising epidermal trauma and reducing patient downtime, two key factors in patient satisfaction and clinic reputation.

EXCEED is also both FDA-cleared and TGA-approved, with extensive global clinical data supporting its efficacy and safety. This rigorous testing and compliance gives practitioners the reassurance they need when selecting technology that directly impacts patient results and trust.

Yet, having a high-performing device is only part of the equation. In aesthetics, real success depends just as much on the skill, confidence, and ongoing education of the practitioner using it. Recognising this, derma aesthetics, the distributor of EXCEED in Australia and New Zealand, has developed a comprehensive and structured educational program that elevates the EXCEED experience beyond the device itself.

Launching this August, the new EXCEED education series has been designed to provide more than just technical device training. Instead, it offers a results-driven, evidence-based curriculum aimed at deepening clinical knowledge and empowering practitioners to deliver superior outcomes. The content explores microneedling science, wound healing physiology, contraindications and risk management, advanced treatment planning, and the role of cosmetic chemistry in supporting long-term skin health and results.

The courses are delivered through an immersive and accessible digital platform, providing flexibility for busy clinic schedules. Dynamic resources such as clinical video demonstrations, digital client consultation tools, and interactive treatment guides are included to support immediate, practical application in the clinic environment.

The educational pathway is structured into three levels; Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced, allowing practitioners to choose the stage that aligns best with their current experience and goals. Whether you’re new to microneedling or looking to refine your advanced practice, the tiered approach ensures that every clinician has the opportunity to strengthen their expertise, build confidence, and continue evolving.

This focus on advanced education is designed to support not just technical skill but also business growth. Confident, well-trained practitioners deliver more consistent results, foster stronger client relationships, and contribute to increased patient retention and wordof-mouth referrals. When patients see visible, safe, and long-lasting improvements in their skin, their trust in both the practitioner and the clinic brand deepens.

EXCEED represents not just a microneedling device, but a commitment to clinical excellence, ongoing learning, and patient trust. It is designed to be a true partner in elevating service offerings, strengthening clinic reputation, and driving business success.

Hale Aesthetics on Skin, Simplicity, and the Aerolase Advantage

At Hale Aesthetics in Canberra, skin is never viewed in isolation. As part of the DOMA Group, the Hale Health brand is an integrative collective spanning skin, body, and wellness, with the clinic’s approach focuses on understanding how internal, lifestyle, and environmental factors can influence visible skin changes. This whole-person philosophy shapes every treatment plan, every consultation, and every investment in technology.

When Hale Aesthetics opened in late 2024, the team was committed to sourcing devices that aligned with their core values: personalisation, inclusivity, and consistency. Their top priority was a versatile platform that could adapt to the wide-ranging needs of their clientele. For Jessica Haylan, Head of Spa and Wellness at Hale Health, the Aerolase Neo Elite became a natural fit.

“We tailor our skin services based on how the skin presents at the time of treatment,” says Haylan. “That adaptability is central to our approach, and Aerolase supports this flexibility within our overall service framework.”

tolerated, with minimal downtime reported.”

Comfort and convenience also factored into the clinic’s client-centred approach. “Today’s clients are often time-poor and looking for options that support their skin goals with minimal disruption,” Haylan explains. “Many have shared that they felt more confident in exploring treatments after their initial experience with Aerolase, particularly those who had been hesitant or unsure previously.”

Used to support the visible appearance of concerns such as pigmentation, blemishes, and uneven skin tone, the Aerolase Neo Elite has complemented the clinic’s treatment offerings. Canberra’s unique climate can contribute to sensitivity and visible redness, which is why flexibility and comfort were key considerations.

“We’ve found Aerolase to be a useful option for supporting the appearance of sensitive or reactive skin types, especially among clients who haven’t responded well to more traditional approaches,” Haylan shares.

Inclusivity was another key driver in the clinic’s decision-making. “It was important to us to choose technology suitable for a wide range of skin types and tones,” says Haylan. “Aerolase was designed with this versatility in mind, and we’ve found treatments to be well

Since its introduction, the Aerolase Neo Elite has become a valued part of the clinic’s treatment menu. When used alongside other services, such as peels, IPL, or hydro-facial, where clinically appropriate and based on individual assessment by a qualified professional, it allows for a more comprehensive approach to skin appearance support.

Some clients have also provided feedback noting an improvement in the look of their skin tone and texture following a course of treatments. While individual outcomes vary, the team at Hale Aesthetics sees this as a positive sign that their personalised, education-first model is resonating.

“It’s not just about the technology, it’s about how we use it to create a thoughtful, client-first experience,” Haylan says. “Our goal is always to support each person in feeling more confident in their skin, wherever they’re starting from.”

Inside Alma’s Global Storytelling Strategy

How HAGAI COHEN Builds Media Moments That Stick

As Global PR & Communications Manager for Alma Lasers, Hagai Cohen is the strategist behind some of the aesthetics industry’s most impactful media activations. Known for crafting campaigns that feel more like editorial experiences than traditional product launches, Cohen approaches every touchpoint through the eyes of a journalist, and the results speak volumes.

Designing with Intent

“At the heart of every media event is the journey,” says Cohen. “We think like editors. Every moment, from an exclusive interview to a carefully timed reveal, is designed to deliver standalone news value, yet still connect to a larger narrative.”

Cohen’s team designs events not as linear agendas but as layered editorial ecosystems, where each element contributes to a story that media outlets genuinely want to tell.

Among his many campaigns, Cohen points to the global rollout of Alma Harmony as a standout.

“It was a true 360° media moment,” he says. The launch spanned 10 territories with multilingual support, regionally adapted press kits, and clinical commentary. Top-tier editors were flown in to trial the technology firsthand, while celebrity ambassador Kate Hudson brought consumer appeal and cultural currency.

“It became a defining moment for Alma,” Cohen reflects. “With coverage in outlets like Financial Times, Bild, and Daily Mail, the launch resonated across both clinical and consumer audiences. It was a clear example of what happens when strategic storytelling and realworld relevance come together.”

Redefining ROI

For Cohen, media success isn’t just about column inches. “Yes, we track AVE, reach, and share of voice,

but we also look at how the campaign shapes the conversation and how it resonates emotionally with our audiences,” he explains. His team also works closely with sales to understand downstream clinic engagement.

“We think like editors. Every moment, from an exclusive interview to a carefully timed reveal, is designed to deliver standalone news value, yet still connect to a larger narrative.”

With Alma delivering consistent innovation year after year, maintaining excitement is no small task. “Each new product isn’t just a device, it’s part of Alma’s wider ecosystem,” says Cohen. “We position launches within a bigger story, one that reflects our ongoing commitment to practitioner success and patient outcomes.”

Blueprint for Rollout

A typical launch, he explains, begins with a compelling, newsworthy narrative. From there, Alma equips its 12 global subsidiaries with localised press kits, messaging frameworks, and digital assets. Live events, KOL input, and coordinated PR pushes ensure that the story lands with relevance and consistency.

Post-launch, the focus turns to longevity: media trials, evolving story angles, and KOL-driven content to keep the momentum alive.

Clinics and KOLs play a pivotal role in every campaign. “They add authenticity and clinical gravitas,” Cohen says. “We choose partners who communicate complex science in simple, human terms, and who reflect Alma’s values.”

What’s next in aesthetics marketing?

“Immersive, story-led experiences,” says Cohen.

“Journalists want to feel the impact. In a world shaped by AI, real stories, told through real people, are what set brands apart.”

It’s a philosophy that continues to position Alma and Cohen himself at the forefront of meaningful, modern media engagement. With this in mind, consider how your marketing connects, building trust, relationships, and readiness for what’s next in aesthetic marketing.

A Clear Vision for Laser-Driven Skin Health

After 20+ years in dermatology, the founder of Porcelain Skin shares why investing in the Etherea MX laser was a turning point.

After two decades working with advanced laser platforms in dermatology, Carly Heckendorf, founder of Porcelain Skin, had a clear blueprint for what the clinic’s next major investment needed to be.

“I knew exactly what I was looking for, and what I wasn’t,” Carly explains. “Our patient base had growing concerns like pigmentation, redness, vascular damage, acne, and texture, and we needed a device that could deliver high-level results with flexibility, safety, and strong support from the supplier.”

That clarity didn’t come lightly. After more than 12 months of research, including attending industry events and consulting with experts, the choice was made: the Etherea MX platform.

Since introducing the system, Porcelain Skin has experienced significant growth in treatment uptake, consistent bookings, and increased patient satisfaction. The platform has enabled Carly and her team to offer more comprehensive and effective treatment pathways, with results patients can see and feel.

A Seamless Fit: Selecting the Right Handpieces

For Porcelain Skin, selecting the right handpieces was just as critical as choosing the platform itself. Carly opted for the IPL and Long Pulse 1064nm handpieces, which now form the foundation of their results-driven treatment menu.

“These two work beautifully together,” she shares. “We can treat different

layers of the skin in one session, improving efficiency and outcomes without compromising safety or comfort. They also pair well with our microneedling and advanced medical facials, which is perfect for our patients who want real, visible improvements.”

Buoyed by the success of the initial setup, Carly is now expanding the clinic’s capabilities further. The Etherea handPICO handpiece is next in line, specifically for its versatility in treating common concerns like melasma and unwanted tattoos.

“The moment I saw Dermatologist, Dr Stephen Eubanks demonstrate it, I knew it was the right addition,” she says. “It opens up even more treatment options for our patients.”

Looking ahead, the ProDeep handpiece is also on Carly’s radar. With its ability to remodel the deeper dermis, improve skin firmness, and refine texture, it aligns perfectly with the clinic’s evolving service model.

Real Patients, Real Results

Even in the early stages, the Etherea MX has delivered standout results for Porcelain Skin clients. One particularly memorable case involved a patient with advanced sun damage.

“After just one IPL session, we saw a dramatic reduction in pigmentation and an overall brightening of her complexion. Her skin tone was more even, and the change in her confidence was amazing to witness,” Carly reflects. “It reminded me why we do this work.”

Stories like this continue to affirm that investing in the right technology can create both clinical impact and emotional transformation, something Porcelain Skin aims to deliver with every treatment.

Aligning with the Porcelain Skin Philosophy

At its core, Porcelain Skin has always stood for clinical integrity, personalised care, and helping women reconnect with their most confident selves.

The decision to bring the Etherea MX into the boutique clinic wasn’t just about expanding services, it was a deliberate choice by Carly to meet patient needs with better outcomes, especially for concerns that previously had few non-invasive solutions.

“The platform gives us the ability to treat across all skin types with a layered, medically guided approach,” she says. “It complements our injectables beautifully. We always say that results look better on healthy skin, and now we can support that from every angle.”

A New Era for Boutique Skin Clinics

Introducing a multi-functional laser platform has allowed Porcelain Skin to elevate its care model without compromising its boutique, high-touch service.

“We’re now offering a level of care and results that we couldn’t before,” Carly shares. “And our patients notice. Many who started with injectables are now actively engaging in skin treatments too. It’s a sign that what we’re offering resonates, and that we’re delivering real value.”

As the clinic grows, the Etherea MX continues to support Carly’s mission: creating exceptional skin outcomes through advanced tools, clinical expertise, and unwavering patient care. Learn more about the Etherea MX platform at cryomed.com.au.

Queensland Nurses Rally for Recognition and Regulation

Aesthetic nurses from across Queensland gathered in Brisbane for a landmark rally, a powerful show of unity from a growing movement demanding clarity, respect, and representation amid ongoing regulatory uncertainty.

Spearheaded by Queensland Aesthetic Nurses United (QANU), a recent rally marked a turning point in the conversation around nurse-led cosmetic care in Queensland. The event was a direct response to the confusion caused by recent interpretations of the Medicines and Poisons Act and accompanying Queensland Health factsheets, which have left many nurse-led clinics in limbo. Clinics have been forced to cancel bookings, stand down staff, or close entirely, not due to malpractice or poor standards, but because of vague and inconsistently applied guidelines. Now, nurses are pushing back.

QANU was established in 2024 by a group of passionate aesthetic nurses, Lisa Oakman, Megan McRae, Carla MVW, Brittany Day, and Katie Ryan, who recognised the urgent need to protect the future of their profession. What began as a casual coffee catch-up among concerned colleagues quickly evolved into a powerful movement. Within just 24 hours of its founding, over 150 nurses had rallied in support.

“We’re not just fighting for ourselves,” said one founding member. “We’re fighting for our patients, for access to safe care, and for the sustainability of nurse-led models.”

The rally brought together nurses from across the state to demonstrate that they are not only essential to aesthetic healthcare, they are united.

Featuring speeches from industry leaders, firsthand accounts from nurses impacted by the regulatory changes, and a public appeal

for consultation and collaboration, the event underscored the need for regulatory reform that includes the voices of those delivering care on the ground.

While nurses in Queensland have long operated under safe, lawful prescribing arrangements, this recent shift in interpretation has had far-reaching effects. What QANU is highlighting isn’t necessarily a flaw in the legislation itself, but in how it is now being enforced, without clear communication or acknowledgment of safe, existing models of care.

“In some cases, nurses are being told to shut their doors, while others are given conflicting advice,” QANU said. “This isn’t just inconvenient, it’s destabilising an entire profession.”

Unlike many professional bodies, QANU is entirely nurse-led, with no commercial or political affiliations. This independence has resonated deeply within the aesthetic community, particularly among solo practitioners and regional nurses who often feel overlooked by larger organisations. Their focus remains firmly on ethical practice, evidence-based care, and peer-to-peer support.

Beyond the rally, QANU continues to offer advocacy resources and practical tools to help nurses protect their practices. From case study submissions and letter templates to merchandise sales that fund ongoing efforts, their work is grounded in real action. Their social media channels, particularly Instagram and Facebook, have become vital spaces for connection, support, and updates, uniting over a thousand aesthetic nurses navigating this uncertain terrain.

Has Queensland State Regulation Rendered Nurse Entrepreneurship Unviable?

Queensland Health’s updated guidance raises operational hurdles.

Queensland Health recently issued communications to clarify the regulatory requirements for cosmetic nurse injectors in the state. These updates have caused significant disruption within the industry, making it financially challenging for nurse-led cosmetic clinics to operate. But have the regulations truly changed, and what exactly do Queensland Health’s rules mandate?

No amendments have been made to the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 or the Medicines and Poisons (Medicines) Regulation 2021. Instead, Queensland Health has updated its guidance to better define the responsibilities of cosmetic injectable clinics. This clarification primarily targets registered nurse (RN) business owners and the medical frameworks that support their practices (Queensland Health, 2025).

How are nurse-led clinics currently operating?

Typically, a nurse-led cosmetic injectable clinic operates through a partnership model involving a telehealth doctor or nurse practitioner (NP). The doctor or NP conducts patient consultations via telehealth and, when appropriate, prescribes treatments. The clinic maintains a supply of injectables purchased under the doctor’s or NP’s provider number, which the nurse then administers following the prescription. The registered nurse (RN) oversees the clinic’s clinical governance, this includes managing patient records, ensuring infection control, handling complications or emergencies, and ensures all practice aligns with professional standards.

The revisions from Queensland regulation

Queensland Health has confirmed that nurse-led cosmetic injectable clinics may continue operating with medications prescribed by a telehealth doctor. However, it has now explicitly stated that clinics without a doctor or nurse practitioner (NP) physically onsite are no longer permitted to store injectable medications for administration.

Under these regulations, injectable medications must be held and controlled onsite by a doctor or NP, referred to as exclusive custody. Since nurse-led clinics typically do not have doctors or NPs present

and instead rely on telehealth consultations, this change introduces an extra step for patients. They must now have their prescribed medications dispensed off-site by a pharmacist, doctor, or NP and then bring the medication back to the nurse-led clinic for treatment. Only once the medication has been dispensed can the registered nurse administer it to the patient (Queensland Health, 2025b).

So what is the issue?

The cosmetic industry presents a unique pathway for nurses to pursue private entrepreneurship within a rapidly growing sector. While nurseled cosmetic clinics in Queensland are still permitted to operate under their usual model, the requirement for medications to be dispensed off-site introduces significant challenges to financial viability:

• Patients must now attend two separate appointments—one for the prescription and another for treatment, which may reduce the appeal of nurse-led services.

• Clinics lose a key revenue stream previously generated from the in-clinic sale of injectable products.

• Opportunities for nurses to collaborate with prescribing doctors or nurse practitioners are limited and can involve considerable cost.

• The feasibility of co-locating with doctors or NPs is also restricted and logistically difficult.

For those considering co-location to allow medications to be stored onsite, further complications arise. In such cases, the medication would likely need to be prescribed and dispensed by the onsite doctor or NP, rather than the nurse simply administering stock held under a prior prescription. This blurs the line between prescribing and supplying, particularly if the businesses operate independently. Questions around how medication-related financial transactions would be handled further complicate the model.

Ultimately, the need for onsite prescribing or dispensing adds an administrative burden and increased costs, making the continued operation of nurse-led cosmetic injectable clinics in Queensland financially unsustainable under the current regulatory conditions.

Is There Now A Cure For Skin Ageing & Hair Graying?

Hormones are now in the spotlight for ageing, enabling researchers to deepdive into the accessible tools for the improvement of longevity and wellbeing

Arecent comprehensive review published in Endocrine Reviews is shining a spotlight on hormones as a promising tool in the fight against visible signs of ageing. Led by Dr Markus Böhm from the University of Münster, the study explores how hormones influence the ageing of skin and hair, offering new directions for therapeutic intervention.

Traditionally, skin and hair have been seen primarily as external indicators of age. However, researchers are now redefining them as hormonally active organs. The skin, one of the body’s largest hormone-producing tissues, plays an integral role in endocrine activity alongside more well-known hormone glands. According to the review, this opens the door to a variety of new treatments that go beyond cosmetic fixes, offering molecular-level support to slow, stop, or even reverse signs of ageing.

The key hormones in focus

Several key hormones are highlighted in the study. Insulinlike Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1), which is produced by dermal fibroblasts, helps preserve cellular youth and prevent the senescence of skin and follicle stem cells. Growth hormone and estrogens also have a positive impact on skin thickness, elasticity, and collagen content, reducing wrinkles and improving the appearance of ageing skin. Retinoids, such as retinol and tretinoin, already have a strong clinical track record for refining skin texture and minimising fine lines.

Melatonin, a hormone typically associated with sleep, has emerged as an especially promising candidate. The review highlights its antioxidant properties and ability to regulate mitochondrial function, protecting skin cells from DNA damage, inflammation, and programmed cell death. Its affordability and high tolerance make it an appealing option for both clinical and consumer applications.

The review also introduces several lesser-known hormonal pathways. These include α-melanocyte-stimulating

hormone (α-MSH), which supports pigmentation and protects against UV-induced DNA damage, and others such as thyroid hormones, oxytocin, endocannabinoids, and PPAR modulators. Each of these shows potential in boosting pigment synthesis, enhancing skin resilience, and protecting against environmental and genotoxic stressors.

Other hormones being reviewed

Many of the hormones examined in the review are already in clinical use, including estrogens, retinoids, and melatonin. Others, such as oxytocin, α-MSH, and endocannabinoids, have not yet been widely adopted in dermatology or aesthetics, but the review suggests these agents deserve greater attention for their therapeutic potential. For example, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and topical progesterone have demonstrated measurable benefits in improving postmenopausal skin condition, including increased thickness and elasticity and reduced wrinkle formation.

The authors argue that by targeting hormone pathways, future skincare and haircare treatments could address the root causes of ageing, rather than merely treating its symptoms. This approach would move the industry toward true anti-ageing interventions, potentially revolutionising the way we care for skin and hair.

Dr Böhm and his team conclude by calling for more research to develop therapies based on these hormonal insights. With further exploration, they believe these strategies could be harnessed to not only slow ageing but to meaningfully restore skin and hair vitality.

This body of work positions hormones such as IGF-1, melatonin, α-MSH, and oxytocin at the centre of emerging anti-ageing research. While established agents like topical retinoids and estrogens remain clinical mainstays, these findings open the door to a broader hormonal toolkit that may redefine how we approach ageing from the inside out.

Empowering Pelvic Health with the TESLAChair

Nurse Practitioner Kelly McChord shares why a TESLAChair appointment is more than a cosmetic treatment, it’s a powerful reminder that you matter.

Addressing a Silent Concern

How often do we see women rushing to the toilet as soon as they arrive at the clinic? How many feel anxious about, or even refuse, longer treatments due to stress or urge incontinence? And importantly, how many actually talk about it? At our clinic, we recognised the need to raise awareness around urogenital health, whether these issues are inherent, peri- or post-menopausal, or post-natal.

Introducing the TESLAChair

To address this need, we introduced the TESLAChair. Using advanced Functional Magnetic Stimulation (FMS) technology, it targets weakened pelvic floor muscles and treats all types of urinary and faecal incontinence, including urge, mixed, and stress incontinence. FMS technology offers benefits beyond continence support. It can improve sexual function, enhance the ability to achieve orgasm, and strengthen groin and gluteal muscles. Patients with chronic pelvic or lumbar pain also see significant relief. The TESLAChair empowers patients to reconnect with their bodies and improve overall pelvic health in a non-invasive way.

Understanding “Tesla Energy”

While many recognise the name TESLA, this chair isn’t related to the electric car company. Here, “Tesla” refers to the unit used to measure magnetic field strength.

The TESLAChair generates strong, pulsed electromagnetic fields to stimulate motor nerves, leading to involuntary muscle contractions, even in muscles that are weak, atrophied, or difficult to activate voluntarily.

Creating a Space to Pause

At our clinic, TheGlasgow Skin Clinic, many women use their TESLAChair sessions to

relax, meditate, or read. We recommend avoiding mobile devices due to potential interference with the FMS field, offering a rare 30-minute break from digital distractions. Our clinic provides books on menopause, hormones, and overall health, transforming this time into both a treatment and an educational experience. This intentional pause benefits mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing, creating a moment of self-care in an often hectic life.

A Premium Holistic Experience

The TESLAChair is completely non-invasive, requiring no undressing or internal devices, and can target deep pelvic muscles that are difficult to reach with conventional physiotherapy. It’s painless, safe for most patients, and can complement existing pelvic health treatments.

The latest chair design is sleek and modern, reinforcing a professional and clean clinic image that enhances patient trust and satisfaction.

Offering the TESLAChair allows clinics and practitioners the ability to provide patients with a premium, holistic experience, one that goes beyond cosmetic outcomes to address real health needs. It’s a reminder to press pause and prioritise oneself, reinforcing the idea that each patient deserves uninterrupted, restorative time dedicated to their well-being (and their pelvic floor).

Navigating Regulatory Change

How InstantCosmetics Is Supporting Queensland Cosmetic Nurses

“Whether you’re an independent RN running your own business or a team leader managing a growing client base, the InstantCosmetics platform offers peace of mind, and practical support when it’s needed most.”

With recent changes to cosmetic injectable guidelines in Queensland, nurse-led businesses have been left facing a wave of uncertainty. For many, the new requirements around prescribing, consultation, and documentation have sparked concern over how to remain compliant without compromising patient care or business continuity.

Enter InstantCosmetics, a company that has moved swiftly and strategically to meet the moment. In response to Queensland Health’s updated guidance, InstantCosmetics has developed a purpose-built solution that allows cosmetic nurses to continue delivering exceptional care, backed by a compliant and easy-to-integrate clinical framework.

“We knew this wasn’t a time for temporary fixes,” explains the InstantCosmetics team. “Our response had to be scalable, regulatory-aligned, and above all, supportive of the real-world demands nurses face in their day-to-day practice.”

“The InstantCosmetics model is designed to fit seamlessly into everyday practice. From fast, accessible consultations to secure digital documentation, the platform makes it easy to uphold bestpractice standards without adding administrative burden.”

At the core of InstantCosmetics’ model is a commitment to simplifying compliance. Working alongside medical, legal, and technology experts, the team has engineered a solution that ticks every regulatory box, while still prioritising the autonomy and professionalism of cosmetic nurses. The result is a robust framework that includes access to safe prescribing pathways, secure telehealth consultations, and thorough documentation protocols, all designed in line with Queensland Health’s fact sheet.

This structure enables continuity of care for patients while giving practitioners the confidence to continue working within the bounds of the law. Whether you’re an independent RN running your own business or a team leader managing a growing client base, the InstantCosmetics platform offers peace of mind, and practical support when it’s needed most.

Crucially, this isn’t the company’s first time stepping up to protect nurse-led businesses. Since day one, InstantCosmetics has operated with a clear mission: to empower cosmetic nurses through regulation-ready systems that enhance, not restrict, clinical practice. With changes now unfolding across the country, their proactive model demonstrates exactly why future-focused support matters.

“Cosmetic nurses have spent years building trusted client relationships and growing their businesses,” the team says. “They deserve a solution that helps them protect that investment, one that doesn’t slow them down, but helps them

And it’s not just about compliance. The InstantCosmetics model is designed to fit seamlessly into everyday practice. From fast, accessible consultations to secure digital documentation, the platform makes it easy to uphold best-practice standards without adding administrative burden. For patients, this means consistent, regulated care. For nurses, it means a business that continues to thrive, even during industry disruption. As the regulatory landscape evolves, InstantCosmetics is also expanding. The company is now focused on ensuring more Queensland nurses are aware that there is support available and that they don’t need to navigate the changes alone.

“This is a time to stay informed, but also to feel empowered. There is a solution, and it’s already here.”

For any cosmetic nurse in Queensland looking to align with the latest guidance without derailing their dayto-day operations, now is the time to consider a smarter way forward.
