DINING ON THE TENNIS COURT Das Ameron Zürich Bellerive Au Lac ist wohl das einzige Hotel weltweit, das sich mit der Kuriosität rühmen kann, auf ehemaligen Tennisplätzen mit Fine Dining zu verwöhnen. Wo einst die ersten Bewohner Indoor-Tennis spielten und 1953 das legendäre Zürcher Filmstudio Bellerive einzog (wo man die deutsche Version des Silvesterklassikers „Dinner for One“ aufzeichnete), wurde beim Umbau das gleichnamige Grill-Restaurant und die denkmalgeschützte Bar (mit Zigarrenlounge) „Studio Bellerive“ eingerichtet. Nach dem All-Day-Dining-Konzept wird dort neben köstlichen Spezialitäten vom Lavagrill auch Streetfood deluxe serviert, wobei man internationale Klassiker neu interpretiert. Ein Genuss: das Steak-Sandwich mit kreolischen Rindsstreifen.
The AMERON Zurich Bellerive Au Lac is probably the only hotel in the world that can boast the curiosity of offering a fine dining experience on former tennis courts. Where once the first residents played indoor tennis and in 1953 the legendary Zurich film studio Bellerive moved in (where they recorded the German version of the New Year's Eve classic “Dinner for One”), the eponymous grill restaurant and the listed bar (with cigar lounge) “Studio Bellerive” were done up during the conversion work. In line with the all-day dining concept, street food deluxe is served there alongside delicious specialities from the lava grill, with reinterpreted international classics. One delight is the steak sandwich with strips of Creole beef.
Stadt- oder Seeblick? Wer beides möchte, bucht die 90-Quadratmeter-Duplex-Suite im Turm des Hotels am Seeufer. Nicht nur ihre Dachterrasse ist ein Traum. Big Family Time: Die Suite kann mit anderen Zimmern verbunden werden und somit einen Teil der Etage privatisieren.
A view of the city or the lake? If you want both, book the 90 m2 duplex suite in the tower of the lakeside hotel. Not only is its roof terrace a dream. Big Family Time: the suite can be connected to other rooms, so you can take over part of the floor for your own private purposes.
THE FRANKFURTER-Herausgeber Robin Zabler liebt das Reisen. Dabei haben es ihm vor allem die angelsächsischen Ziele, speziell die USA, angetan. Dort zieht es ihn mindestens einmal im Jahr nach Texas, wo er das einfache rurale Leben bei Familie und Freunden auf einer Farm genießt. Ein absolutes Kontrastprogramm zum hektischen Alltag als Medienmacher, erklärt er. Ansonsten ist er aber eher Kosmopolit, liebt Städte wie New York, Paris, Mailand und natürlich London, laut ihm „die Metropole der Trends in Sachen Hospitality und Food.“
THE FRANKFURTER's editor Robin Zabler just loves to travel. He has a particular fondness for Anglo-Saxon destinations – especially the USA, where he is drawn to Texas at least once a year, enjoying the simple rural life down on a farm with family and friends. As he explains, life there is in total contrast to the hectic everyday life of a media maker. Otherwise, however, he is more cosmopolitan and adores cities like New York, Paris, Milan and, of course, London, which in his view is “the metropolis of trends in hospitality and food”.
