Hi everyone,
I’d like to thank all of you who participated in our recent Summer BBQ party, I hope you had as much fun as we did!
A big thank-you as well to everyone who made use of the dumpster that we got in July. And a special shoutout to those who took the time to improve their homes following our spring inspections. Let’s continue working together to keep our community a clean, welcoming place to live!
“What I Loved About Summer Growing Up”
“You know, our childhood was way different back then. We’d run around through the sprinkler and play in the streets until it got dark - there was so much freedom! Kids today go to a lot of camps, and their days are already mapped out for them. They’re always on their phones. I think they should be outside more. On weekends, since we lived in Bellevue near Lake Sammamish, we were always at the beach. When my daughter was little, we had a boat and would go water skiing - I even taught kids how to water ski!
Later on, my husband and I started going to Hawaii for two weeks every summer. That was such a treat!”
— Dee Good
“Growing up, my grandparents would take all of us siblings to a campground where we’d go fishing and spend special time together.
We lived in Wenatchee, so we’d also pick cherries — all four different kinds — right out of the orchard. I learned a lot working in the orchards, driving the tractor and everything. For a while, I really thought that’s what would end up doing.
As a parent, one of my favorite summer memories was a two-week trip to the Flintstone Village in Canada. We visited national parks along the way — and to this day, our kids still talk about that trip.
These days, we spend summer at our cabin on Lake Wenatchee. I even built a dock out there. It’s peaceful, and the little projects keep me busy.”
— Ron James
I hope everyone’s beating the summer heat:
Nutritional Tip of the Month – HYDRATION HACKS:
1. Infuse Water with Flavor -Plain water can get boring. Add slices of: Cucumber + mint, Lemon + strawberries, Orange + basil, Watermelon chunks
2. Eat Your Water
Hydrating foods:
Watermelon, Cucumbers, Oranges, Tomatoes, Strawberries, Lettuce
3. Set a Reminder
Forget to drink? Use an hourly phone or clock reminder. Mark times on a water bottle (ex. Drink by 10 AM”).
4. Keep Water Nearby: Accessibility makes a big difference!
Place a refillable bottle or cup next to the recliner or bed and everywhere in the house.
5. Drink a Little All Day
Sipping slowly all day is better than chugging water once or twice. 1 glass with every meal, 1 glass in the morning, 1 before bed, 1 during medication time

• 1 small green cabbage, thinly sliced
• 2 carrots, shaved with a vegetable peeler
• 1 red onion, thinly sliced
• ⅓ cup chopped cilantro
• ¼ cup sliced almonds
• 1 to 2 oranges, segmented and chopped
• 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
• 1 tablespoon honey
• 1 garlic clove, minced
• big pinch of kosher salt and pepper
• ¼ cup avocado oil
1. Preheat the broiler in your oven to high. Make sure there is an oven rack directly beneath it.
2. Place the chicken thighs on a baking sheet. Season the chicken all over liberally with salt and pepper. Season all over with the smoked paprika and garlic powder.

4. Remove the chicken again and brush it with the honey mixture. Return to the oven and broil for 1 minute. Remove and flip the chicken thighs, brushing the other side with the honey mixture. Broil again for 1 minute. Repeat once or twice more until you get the desired charred topping.
1. In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, carrots, cilantro, red onion, almonds and oranges. In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, honey, garlic, salt and pepper. Whisk in the oil until emulsified.
