SISTERHOOD REPORT
SUBMITTED BY: CAROL FLEGEL, SISTERHOOD PRESIDENT This has been an exceptional year for the Sisterhood. We have hosted a record number of events, spearheaded by the tremendous efforts of Barbara Druckman, Programming V.P. In addition to our monthly luncheons, we’ve had several off-site events, including a tour and lunch at the Holocaust Museum and Shangri-La Springs and an evening at Paula Brody’s Inspirations Studio. The joint Men’s Club/Sisterhood luncheon had record attendance. Lynn Prosten, Membership V.P., coordinated several new member get-togethers. The Sisterhood membership continues to grow. The “Gem at the Jaffes” fundraiser was a huge success, thanks to Fundraising V.P. Debbe Schertzer, Fern Jaffe and their committee. The upcoming “Count Your Blessings” fundraiser, chaired by Fran Nossen, is anticipated to continue this success. The monthly Book Bag, chaired by Helen Weinfeld, continues to draw many passionate readers and exceptional facilitators. The dedicated Oneg committee goes above and beyond, providing the Temple with caterer-level delectables on Friday nights. This committee has also stepped up for other events like the Jewish Book Festival which the Sisterhood proudly sponsored this year. Our Judaica Shop committee runs the most successful Judaica Shop in Southwest Florida. This committed staff runs the store, which provides a critical financial component to our budget. Becky Corracchia was honored with the Volunteer of the Year award at the upcoming luncheon. At Sisterhood Shabbat, we honored Bobbie Katz with the Woman of Valor award. The Sisterhood generously funds many Temple needs including a $15,000/yr. contribution to the Religious School, $1,500/annually for the RAC trip, and this year we provided $5,000 towards Irma recovery efforts. Our outstanding Sisterhood Board has paved the way for one of our most successful years in memory.
