Local Residents Chosen As State Fair Farm Family For Dade County Submi ed by Jill Scheidt Agronomy Specialist

Jarrod and Carla Hayes of Everton were among the 110 families honored during the Missouri State Fair’s Farm Family Day on August 11, 2014. The Hayes were selected as the Dade County Missouri State Fair Farm Family by the Dade County Extension Council and local Farm Bureau. The family includes Jarrod, Carla and their son, Mason (front row of photo). Each year, the fair sets aside a day to recognize farm families from across the state who are active in their community, involved in agriculture, and participate in local outreach and extension programs such as 4-H and FFA.

The Hayes aid in the operation of the Wright family farm in Everton (Carla’s father); the farm has been in the family since 1882. They raise registered Charolais cattle; Jarrod has a tractor servicing business and Mason shows registered Charolais. “We are proud to have a second generation 4-H leader and her family represent Dade County for our Farm Family,” said Jill Scheidt, CPD with University of Missouri in Dade County. The annual event was sponsored by the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Missouri State Fair, the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, and University of Missouri Extension.

sion Service, a national network whose purpose is to extend university-based knowledge beyond the campus.
