“People that leave our hospital feel like they were treated very well, and that, for me, is what it is all about,” DeWitt Hospital CEO and Chamber of Commerce President Darren Caldwell told chamber members at their meeting May 14. Caldwell briefed the chamber on the new patient evaluation system sponsored by the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services. Approximately 3,550 hospitals around the country participated in the evaluation, and DeWitt Hospital was ranked one of 251 fivestar hospitals in the nation. “That put us in the top 7 percentile in the nation of hospitals that were judged,” Caldwell said. So far, he has unofficially found only two other hospitals in the state, Arkansas Heart Hospital and Arkansas Surgery Hospital, that also received five-star ratings. Caldwell explained that community hospitals like DeWitt’s and specialty hospitals tended to rank higher on the evaluation. When comparing all other community hospitals to DeWitt’s, Caldwell said the closest one ranked four to five points behind. “What this ranking does is make you understand that people that utilize our hospital leave there feeling like the service they received was in the top 7 percentile in the country,” Caldwell said. In another area of business, Caldwell told the chamber that the DeWitt Industrial Development Corporation (DIDC) recently agreed to purchase

the property across from Piggly Wiggly that houses the caboose on behalf of the chamber of commerce. “Our intention is to allow the city to take possession of that property, so DIDC will be deeding the property over and we are rested assure that the caboose will not be moved anytime soon,” Caldwell told the chamber. DeWitt Mayor Ralph Relyea said, “In the MESA plan, the caboose was tied in with a visitor’s center, so the purchase of this property will be another step towards completing that.” In other committee reports, PCCUA DeWitt Campus Vice Chancellor Carolyn Turner reported that PCCUA honored approximately 80 graduates at their recent graduation ceremony, and out of 19 honor graduates, “Ten were from our end of the county,” Turner said. She also briefed everyone on some of the summer activities that the PCCUA DeWitt Campus will be hosting such as Kids’ College and the GEAR UP Program. In her report on the DeWitt Public Schools, Superintendent Lynne Dardenne told everyone that she met with the architect and construction management team and reviewed bids concerning the construction of the new middle school. “We will have information for the board in the next few days about finalizing the contract and moving forward with our ground breaking and starting construction,” Dardenne

said. The estimated start date is still set for June 15. The superintendent also informed the chamber that the district has been selected to be a recipient of a pre-kindergarten program for DeWitt Elementary School. Dardenne said the program will service 20 four-year-old children who would not otherwise have pre-k services in order to prepare them for kindergarten. During his report, Mayor Relyea informed the chamber that the recentlyelected DeWitt Parks and Recreation Commission met with the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism and learned about various grants the park might be eligible to receive. One such grant with the highway department will fund the repair and renovation of the walking trail at the park. “Our park is really great, but it is getting in somewhat disrepair,” Relyea said. Arkansas County Judge Eddie Best updated everyone on the progress of the new solar power plant coming to the county. Due to the availability of grants and supply and demand, he reported that the completion date for the project could be either 2016 or 2019. He said that the specific details are still being worked out. Chamber treasurer Gena Jennings reported that the chamber’s total in the general fund is $3,618.36.

DeWitt Police Report

May 26, 2015 – While patrolling on West Halliburton Street, Officers Clayton Dillion and Jennifer Crossett observed a white Chevy Impala with a male driver who was not wearing his seatbelt, so they initiated a traffic stop. Dillion approached the vehicle and announced himself as Officer Clayton Dillion with the DeWitt PD and asked the driver for his driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance. After obtaining his information he identified the driver as Kolby Fletcher. Fletcher had a restricted license with an interlock machine, and the vehicle he was driving had no machine. Dillion also noticed a strong smell of intoxicants, (alcohol) coming from the vehicle so he asked Fletcher to step to the back of the vehicle with him. When Fletcher exited the vehicle he was very clumsy and was swaying front to back. Dillion asked Fletcher if he had anything to drink and he stated, “yes probably too much”. Dillion placed Fletcher under arrest for no interlock device and searched his vehicle. During the search Crossett found a half empty bottle of alcohol under the passenger seat without a lid on it. Fletcher was transported to Arkansas County Detention Center. Upon arrival at ACDC Dillion gave Fletcher the standard field sobriety tests to help determine his driving impairment. During the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test (HGN) Fletcher did not have smooth pursuit and had Nystagmus in both eyes. During the Walk and Turn test (WAT) Fletcher did not follow instructions and failed to complete the test. During the One Leg Stand test (OLS) Fletcher failed to follow instructions by not staring at his toes while counting and kept restarting from 0. Fletcher only reached the number 9 in 30 seconds and placed his foot on the ground on several occasions. After failing the SFST. Fletcher was asked to take a Blood Alcohol Content test (BAC) to determine his blood alcohol percentage which he consented to. Fletcher’s blood alcohol level was .240. Fletcher was convicted of a prior DWI on 02/25/2015 so he was charged with a DWI 2nd offense. May 22, 2015 - Officer Johnathan Powell was dispatched to S. Grandview Dr. for a reported vehicle in a ditch. Upon arrival, he saw a blue Hyundai Sonata in a ditch with the driver, later identified as Joseph Cupples, sitting in the driver’s seat. Officer Matthew Tucker approached Cupples and asked if he was ok. Powell heard Cupples tell him that he was. He also heard Cupples state that he ran into the ditch because he was texting his wife and lost control of the vehicle. Tucker asked Cupples if he had been drinking and Powell heard him state that, yes he had been and that he had alcohol in the vehicle. Powell then asked Cupples to walk to the road side and speak with him. He noticed that Cupples had bloodshot and watery eyes and that his speech was a bit slurred, so he asked Cupples how much he had to drink, and he said “not even two pints today.” Powell asked him what he had been drinking and he replied that he had been drinking vodka. He also stated that he had his last drink an hour ago. Powell gave Cupples instructions to hold his head still and follow his finger with only his eyes, but Cupples repeatedly moved his head. Powell gave him the instruction to hold his head still multiple times. * Equal tracking and smooth pursuit in both eyes * Distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation in both eyes * Onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees in both eyes * Vertical nystagmus was not present The section of road that they were on was not conductive to perform the one leg stand or walk and turn tests due to the lack of shoulder room, a steep ditch next to the road, and a curve directly in front of their location. With the results of the (HGN) test, the fact that Cupples had a single vehicle accident, his bloodshot and watery eyes, and slurred speech he was placed under arrest for DUI. Tucker took Cupples to the passenger side of the patrol car, opened the door, and told him to get into the back seat. Cupples refused to get into the vehicle, and demanded a cigarette. Powell went to assist Tucker, and Cupples locked up his body, and refused to lean over and get into the car. Because Powell’s car was parked next to a steep incline down into a ditch, there was very little room to maneuver. Powell placed the front of his

ALMYRA

Taser CEW in Cupples back and ordered him into the car. He refused, and Powell warned him that if he did not get into the car, he would be tased. Cupples continued to refuse, and was tased with a five second stun cycle. This caused Cupples to fall into the back seat of the car. Once the taser had finished its cycle, Powell ordered him to get the rest of the way into the car. He refused again, and Tucker went around to the driver’s side and pulled Cupples into the back seat. Officer Billy Truax arrived on scene to watch Cupples’ vehicle until the tow truck arrived. Upon looking at Cupples’ vehicle, he found a pint of vodka with approximately 20% remaining and the lid missing wedged between the driver’s seat and center console. A lid that appeared to go with the vodka bottle was found lying on the driver’s side floor board. He saw an empty pint of vodka in the back seat, along with two empty beer cans. Tucker and Powell transported Cupples to Arkansas County Detention Center. Once Cupples exited the vehicle, Tucker removed the Taser darts from his back. He then ordered him into the jail, but Cupples refused. Tucker and Powell had to physically guide him into the jail. During this time, Cupples had a very combative attitude and stated that he was going to fight them when they took off his handcuffs. Lieutenant Tom Russell ordered him to sit down on the floor, and he refused. Another jailer had to physically pull Cupples to the floor. At this time, Powell talked with Cupples and tried to convince him to perform the remaining field sobriety tests, but he continued arguing and ignored Powell’s requests. Powell decided at this time to wait an hour before testing Cupples on the Intoximeter and left the jail at approximately 8:05 p.m. At 9:16 p.m., he returned to the jail and asked Cupples if he was willing to test on the Intoximeter. He agreed. Powell read Cupples his rights and observed him for 20 minutes before testing began. Powell performed two breath tests on Cupples. The first test resulted in a .187, and the second test resulted in a .168. He then offered for Cupples to obtain a blood test at the hospital at his expense. After Cupples refused, he was handcuffed and shackled, and escorted to the hospital. Cupples spoke to RN Debby Arn. Nurse Arn told Cupples that he would have to pay for the testing in advance. Cupples said he did not have any money for breath testing, so Powell made a call to Cupples’ mother. Cupples’ wife has an active protection order against him, so calling his wife was not an option. Cupples was then taken back to the jail for booking, and was cited for the following: 1. Driving while intoxicated 2. No proof of insurance 3. Refusal to submit to arrest 4. Texting and driving May 27, 2015 - Officer Jennifer Crossett was dispatched to 215 East Cross Street for a reported man passed out at the residence. Upon her arrival, she approached the male subject, nudged his leg and asked if he was okay. She got no response from him so she shook his leg and said “sir are you okay.” The man then raised his head and said yes. Crossett asked the man if he lived at the residence and he stated yes he does. He said he sleeps on the front steps every day. Crossett asked him if he had been drinking and he stated yes, he had about four beers that morning. After talking to him for a little while, the man stated he did not live at the residence, and that he lived down the street but could not give an address. At this time Crossett placed Jackie Childers under arrest for Public Intoxication and transported him to Arkansas County Detention Center. May 31, 2015 - Officer Clayton Dillion was patrolling on Highway 1 and had just passed Maxwell St. heading north when he observed a car heading south around the curve into city limits at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle and began spinning 360 degrees out of control around Maxwell St. and came to a stop at the storage buildings on the west side of Hwy 1. Dillion had pulled off the highway to avoid a collision with the vehicle and promptly turned around to get behind it. The vehicle then took off south on Hwy 1 towards Marty Mart and he initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. After turning on his overhead lights, the vehicle turned onto Cross St. and came to a stop.

After the vehicle stopped, a white male got out of the driver’s side door and Dillion instructed him to stop and stand beside the vehicle. He then approached the driver and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from him, so he asked the driver to turn and place his hands on the vehicle so that he could be searched for weapons. After the search came up clean he was able to turn around and face away from the vehicle. The driver already had his driver’s license and proof of insurance in his hand so Dillion took his identification and identified the driver as Dean Carter Rains. During this time another vehicle was traveling towards them on Cross St. so he went to close the door of Rains’ vehicle (which was running) so that the car could pass safely and he observed a beer can directly beside the driver’s seat about to fall into the back floorboard. After observing a beer can in the vehicle and a strong odor of alcohol coming from Rains, Dillion asked him to step to the rear of the vehicle so that he could safely perform the standard field sobriety tests (SFST) and he complied. Dillion then opened the driver’s door of Rain’s vehicle, laid his wallet in the driver’s seat, and then turned off his front emergency blue lights. Dillion began his tests with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test (HGN). He checked Rains for equal pupal size and resting nystagmus, lack of smooth pursuit, nystagmus at maximum deviation and onset nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. Rains did not have smooth pursuit and had nystagmus in both eyes during maximum deviation and onset nystagmus prior to 45degrees in both eyes. Rains started yelling profanity at this point stating “see I passed it,” he also would not stay at the rear of the vehicle so that Dillion could finish his SFST’s so he told Rains to turn around and place his hands behind his back and that he was under arrest for DUI. Rains turned and headed towards the door of his vehicle so Dillion grabbed him and placed him up against the vehicle. He became very unruly and somewhat combative as he was trying to get away from him. Dillion was finally able to get him into handcuffs and turned to take him to the back seat of his patrol car when Rains pulled away from him and ran and jumped into his driver’s seat, pushed the gas pedal to the floor and began reaching for the gear shift of the vehicle (which was running and the gear shift was easily reachable because it was a center console). Dillion then grabbed Rains and used the force necessary to get him out of the vehicle and onto the ground beside his car which was in the opposite lane of the highway. Another vehicle was coming towards them from Cross St. so he had to get Rains safely out of the road so that the oncoming vehicle could pass. As soon as he got Rains to his feet he began screaming profanity and trying to pull away and walk towards the oncoming vehicle. When Dillion grabbed Rains’ left shoulder and turned him around, Rains tried to head butt him. Dillion then took him to the ground again and dragged him safely out of the vehicles path and to the backseat of his patrol car. Dillion opened the back door of his patrol car and again helped Rains to his feet trying to place him into the backseat. Rains refused and stiffened up his body so that Dillion could not force him into the car, so he dry stunned (tased) Rains in the stomach and placed him into the backseat. After getting Rains secured in the backseat of his patrol car, Dillion went to secure Rains’ car so that Roger Capps could tow the vehicle. Dillion found two more empty beer cans in the passenger floor board. Rains yelled and screamed profanity the entire time this took place and continued to do so, on the drive to Arkansas County Detention Center. Upon arriving at the jail Rains stated that without the handcuffs being on him he could “whoop Dillion’s butt.” So when he got inside the jail Dillion instructed Rains to sit down so that he could safely take his handcuffs off. Rains refused, and Dillion asked at least 3 times when finally he placed Rains on the floor in the booking area of the jail and took his handcuffs off. Rains was very unsupportive and combative so Dillion could not check his BAC. Dillion placed Rains in the holding tank, searched him, and put him into a jumpsuit. Rains does not turn 21 until 05/10/2016 so he was charged with DUI, refusal to submit to test, minor in possession of alcohol and resisting arrest. He was also written traffic citations for reckless driving and no seat belt.

Crocketts Bluff, Ethel and St. Charles News

By Margaret Aycock

GREETINGS: Good Morning, Everyone! Little ole Maggie has not melted or drowned yet. Now figure this one out. I can’t swim and most everything will melt in water. Duh! Ha! Ha! APOLOGY DUE: I personally want to apology to everyone and also to the members of the Crockett’s Bluff Community Center regarding the annual dues to join our club. In last week’s paper, I stated that it was $10.00 for singles and $20.00 for family. Oops, I was wrong! I must have been dreaming, I guess. Anyway, our annual dues are $20.00 per household. But folks, this still is a very good deal, don’t you think? Fellow members, am I fired or forgiven???? MEETING: The Crockett’s Bluff Community Center held their

May meeting Thursday evening at 6:30 in Crockett’s Bluff. Larry McCallie was asked to say the blessing, after which everyone grabbed a plate and headed for that good ole home-cooked food. After everyone was finished eating, we began our business meeting with Vice President, Vicki Gardner presiding in the absence of President, Kenneth Graves. This meeting was to plan for the annual 4th of July parade and fish fry held at Crockett’s Bluff. Everyone volunteered to take the same position they held last year. Afterwards, the meeting was dismissed, and everyone headed home. TRIP TO MONTICELLO: Ida Newkirk and I traveled to Monticello Tuesday, May 25th, for my appointment with Dr. Scott Claycomb. He gave me a very good report after all my test were finished. I do not have to see him again for a year. Afterwards, Ida & I dined at LaTerraza Mexican Restaurant before heading home. RECIPE REQUEST: Jewel, this one is for you......You have to remember now that Mamaw Lee has been gone for years, but she is alive in my heart forever. CORNBREAD DRESSING: Make a large skillet of cornbread using your favorite. Set aside. In a large pot on top burner, put 1 1/2 to 2 cups chopped celery and 1 medium chopped onion. Add approximately 1 quart of water. Boil over medium/low heat until celery and onion are tender. (You may have to add more water). Add approximately 10 to 12 slices of white bread to this mixture. Also add 1 can of cream of chicken soup, 2 cans of chicken broth and the skillet of cornbread. If mixture is too thick, add more chicken broth and cream of chicken soup if desired. Add salt, pepper and sage to taste. Mixture should be sort of runny when pouring in into large baking pan, roaster or glass oven dish. I add chicken that has been boiled or baked and cut in bitesize pieces. Sometime I lay pieces of chicken on top of dressing. (Poultry will dry out if layed on top if not covered. I put it on top just to warm just before taking out of oven. Put in oven uncovered at 350 degrees and bake until brown on top and no longer runny. (Approximately 30 to 45 minutes, and maybe longer). This freezes well too. CARAMEL TURTLE BROWNIES: 1 bag (14ozs.) caramels 1 can (5ozs.) evaporated milk. , or 2/3 cup divided. 1 devil’s food chocolate cake mix 1/2 to 1 cup of chopped pecans 6 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted 1 pkg.(6ozs.) semi-sweet chocolate chips Pecan halves for garnish. Unwrap caramels (there is enough for the cook to sneak a few), and place in saucepan with 2 tablespoons evaporated milk. Set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine the remaining evaporated milk, dry cake mix, melted butter/margarine and the chopped nuts. Stir until well blended. Spread half of this mixture in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. (Mixture will form a thin layer in pan.) Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes only. Meanwhile, heat the caramels over medium to low heat; stir constantly. Be careful not to burn. Remove brownies from oven, sprinkle with chocolate chips and drizzle over top. Cover evenly. Drop remaining cake mixture by teaspoons over all. Return pan to oven for 20 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cut while warm but do not remove from pan until completely cooled. They must SET UP. Garnish with toasted pecan halves, if desired. Yield 24 brownies. THIS IS JOSHUA LEE HORTON’S (my Grandson), VERY FAVORITE BROWNIES. FAITH & RELIGION

Memorials By Pastor Steve Ellison We celebrated Memorial Day this past week. We rightly remembered those who gave everything they had to give. We gave honor where honor was due. We saluted men and women who gave their very lives in defense of our cherished freedoms. We maintained and decorated graves of war heroes and others all across this great country of ours. There are other great things that we ought to remember. The Bible is full of testimonials and remembrances of the mighty acts of God. Remembering them is no accident; remembering will occur when he purpose to do so. Remembering will bring tremendous benefits to us and others. Some 3,000 years ago the Israelites stood at the banks of the swollen to flood-stage Jordan River. As they stared at the muddy water God made an incredible promise. He told them that He would cause the rushing water to stop and pile up in a heap upstream, so that they could cross on dry land. They believed God and crossed. In Joshua chapter 4 God told the twelve tribes of Israel to gather twelve stones from out of the Jordan River and build a memorial. He wanted them to remember the mighty miracle He had done for them. God gave some

specific instructions and explicitly spelled out the purpose for this memorial. In verse 3 He said for each man to choose for himself a stone. God is telling us that we are each responsible for creating our own memorials to what God had done for us personally. In verse 6 God tells us that if we will build the memorial to His mighty deeds, our children will ask about it. He told us we would have the privilege of explaining the memorial to our children when they ask, not if they ask. Please do not miss the fact that God says your children will not simply ask what the memorial means, but rather what does the memorial mean to you. A memorial to the mighty works of God will have little impact on your children unless it means something to you personally. In verse 24, God clearly declared the purpose for the memorial: “that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, so that you may fear the LORD your God forever.” If you are a Christian, you have a duty to God to inform your children of the marvelous works of the mighty hand of God. Verse 24 also points out that it will have a great benefit for you as well, causing you to fear the

Lord your God forever. Let me encourage you to compile some spiritual markers from your life. If you do nothing more than make a list of them and explain the list to your children that will be a good thing. Better yet, if you can come up with some physical objects that you can show them while explaining their significance, they will remember better and for a longer time. The best method is to gather some objects which symbolically represent times when God worked in your life and figure out a way to display them in a prominent location in your home or business. A written description of each object’s significance should be included so that it will bless future generations. Shadow boxes are marvelous. If you are having trouble thinking of objects, I have a suggestion that every Christian could start with. A Christmas tree ornament made from a life-size replica of a nail used in first century crucifixions is a fantastic place to start. I pray that the Lord will bless your efforts to memorialize His mighty acts in your life. pastorsteve8800@gmail.com

The Coming Crisis (No. 2)

On Pain and Praise By Tom Smith Pain. It’s only a four-letter word. So small and seemingly insignificant to one who’s not suffering with it. But, when it comes knocking at your door, it takes on a whole new meaning—especially when it’s excruciating, causing you to winch and grimace in its sharp pangs. I guess I’ve been pretty blessed throughout my life with minimal pain in comparison to others. For sure, I’ve had my share of pulled muscles, sprains, aching joints, etc. That’s just part of life. But, it’s only been recently that I’ve experienced virtually unbearable pain that’s given me a whole new perspective on suffering. Through the years I’ve always tried to stay in fairly decent shape physically. I’ve jogged, lifted weights, done long-distance bicycling, P90X, gone backpacking, etc. And, about two years ago I got into CrossFit, which is as hard of a workout routine as I’ve ever done in my life. Truly, it’s the most challenging, physically-demanding workout I’ve ever encountered—consisting of Olympic-style weightlifting, pull-ups, push-ups, jump-ropes, box-jumps, burpees, running, squats, etc. But, I can honestly say that I’m probably in as good, physical condition as I’ve ever been in my life. That is, until around three weeks ago. I worked out twice that week. Then our Air National Guard unit participated in the Air Force’s “50 Summits’ Challenge” and accepted the challenge to hike to the top of Mount Magazine, the highest point in Arkansas at over 2,700’. Needless to say, it was quite challenging. The last three miles or so were quite steep, but I made it—finishing the entire 12+ mile hike in around 4.5 hours. Although pretty tired, I still felt okay. But, all that changed two days later when I baptized two brothers in their 40’s. As I raised the second brother out of the water, something pulled in my lower back/upper hip. And, since that time the pain has steadily increased. Even

though I’ve been on a regular schedule of pain medication and no exercise, the pain continues to be excruciating. And, later this week I’ll be having an MRI to see if the doctors can determine what’s going on. Yes, in the midst of all this I’ve learned a new respect for pain. I used to joke about it, saying “Pain doesn’t bother me—so long as it’s someone else’s!” But, now I’m discovering that incessant pain is no laughing matter. And, I’ve gained a new respect for anyone who suffers with pain, regardless of the reason. I’ve also come to a deeper understanding of the importance of praise in the midst of pain. That’s not easy to do when the pain is nonstop and prescription drugs do little to dull it. This is further compounded when no relief can be found, whether you’re standing, sitting or lying down. So, until the problem can be diagnosed and a solution can be determined, I’ll just continue to grimace, wince and pray. I’m also going to continue trying to praise God in the midst of this. I know He didn’t cause this. But, I also know He’s with me in the midst of it and will give me the Grace I need to bear it. Suffering comes in a lot of shapes and sizes and for a lot reasons. And, with it there’s always pain—whether it be physical, mental and/or emotional. That’s why the spiritual realm is so important in our dealing with it; otherwise, we’ll be filled with bitterness and blaming even toward God. Continual Praise in constant pain is vitally important if we’re to keep from giving up or giving in. And, it’s knowing the Risen Lord, Jesus, is our “Partner in Pain” that helps us endure it and have His Peace in the midst of it. God bless you. (NOTE: If you’d like to contact Bro. Tom or receive his daily e-mail devotional, entitled “Morning Manna,” you can write him at P.O. Box 10614, Fort Smith, AR 72917 or e-mail him at pressingon@hotmail. com).

In every generation God has sent His servants to rebuke sin, both in the world and in the church. But the people desire smooth things to be spoken to them, and the pure unvarnished truth is not generally accepted. Many ministers, who have started out to work for The Lord, have been afraid to speak freely against the sins in the world and the church. They are well aware that to preach the danger that threatens souls will thin down their congregation and ultimately the cash inflow! But thanks be to God there is also another group of God called men, who have been made fearless of the consequences, who speak the Words God gives them, and some have been moved to heed their warning! As the time draws nigh for the Lord’s return, the Lord will work through these humble servants, leading those who are willing to consecrate their whole lives to Christ. These ministers will be qualified by having received The Holy Ghost, and not just by a degree from some Bible college! The sins of Babylon will be laid open to their view. The fearful results of the union of church and government will be preached. By these solemn warnings the Bible of Christ will be stirred in the depths of their soul. In amazement they hear that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her sins and refusal to repent! Some are going to their former teachers with the question,” Are these things true?” And too often the ministers present fables, and prophesy smooth things, to calm their fears! But thanks be to God some are having their conscience awakened, and are demanding “Thus saith The Lord.” The poplar ministers are filled with anger, like the Pharisees old, when their authority is questioned. They denounce God’s end-time message as being of satan. They stir up the sin loving ones in their churches, to denounce those who believe the Scriptures that promise a great end-time prophet just before the fire falls! (Mal. 4:5) The clergy without The Holy Ghost Oil put forth much effort to shut out the light, lest it should shine on their flocks. By every means at their disposal they try to stop the discussion about God’s end-time prophet. But the steadfast answer of God’s called ministers is, “Show us by the Scriptures where we are wrong!” And so God has ordained that His Truths shall be heard by the multitudes. Who otherwise would know nothing of these things! But, as has been true since the Garden of Eden, all men will choose for themselves what they believe! The words of Paul are now being fulfilled, “All that will live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” (2 Tim. 3:12) To human wisdom it seems impossible that soon, in America, those who refuse membership the World Council of Churches will be killed! But the restraining Spirit of the Lord is even now being withdrawn, and church and government leaders will come under the control of satan! The human heart can be unbelieveably cruel when God’s fear and love is removed! As the storm approaches a lot of professing Christians, who have professed to be in the faith, but whose hearts have not been changed, will abandon their position, and take what they believe to be will abandon their position, and take what they believe to be refuge, under the banner of the World Council of Churches! And this, my dear friend, is the mark of the beast! May God open your blinded eyes! Amen

By Ora London As Spring leaves and the new beginning of Summer approaches, we are getting set and ready for the Great Juneteenth 14th annual celebration on Saturday June 13th in Dewitt Arkansas at the Dewitt Key Gym, Parade starts at 1 pm, Dewitt Fire Department. The event is free and open to the public. The guest speaker is Pastor Alane Allen of Lively Stone Church, Stuttgart, Arkansas. May I pray for the many Lord God of your people in Houston, Texas and all other surroundings towns that are affected with the horrible floods, near and far that they may know you are a God like no other, one that they may call upon when there are no others to call. Whether good or bad you are worthy to be praised for all you’ve done and will continue to do for your people in time of need. Lord your Mercy and Grace has kept us thus far to know you will never leave nor forsake us. We feel the comfort and peace of your presence daily. When we feel like your presence is not with us, we have a feeling of lost hope. But to know what the word has said we doubt not your presence. In Jesus Name is my Prayer, Amen. Church: Lets have church at the church of your choice on Sunday morning. If you and your family have no church home or place to go on Sunday morning let us invite you to come out to First Baptist at 312 north May Street, Dewitt Arkansas. Our Pastor, Edward Parker. We will be having a Revival coming up, Church Anniversary, Pastor and First lady Anniversary. I’ll be posting the time and date a little later on. Our regular church service begins at 11am. Sunday

School at 9:45am. Sick list: Mother Otelia Fitzpatrick, Mary J. Wright, Mother Zola Woods, Essie Hayes, Charlie Chambers, Rose Butler, Horace Ware, Bob Fitzpatrick, Cassie Walker, Denise Duncan. When we visit the sick, there are many others we know that are sick but we seem to overlook them and we all know them. When it comes to visiting the sick we should not have picks and choices. If you don’t feel comfortable or feel uninvited going to their homes, get their phone numbers and give them a call. It will mean so much to them. I’m guilty myself of not visiting many others like I should. I will do better as I get better in health myself. There are so many others not called by name. Let us all include them in our daily prayer realm that there may be healing to their body, mind and soul. When I pray for all, there is no color barrier in my prayers. Announcements: Gods Way Publishing Presents: Ladies Night Out, June 19th, 7 pm. More Info to come. St Charles All-School Reunion Class Day Sat. June 20th. As an alien to the area, I can say that most travelers would not expect to find such rich history and wildlife conservation as they are passing through Arkansas County, AR. With agriculture and wildlife as the main attractions to the area, I would like to announce my main project for this summer. My name is Christopher Shannon, you can just call me Chris. I’m currently working with the DeWitt Era-Enterprise as a journalism intern. I am going into my senior year this fall attending Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO. If my plans go accordingly, I will graduate December, 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication/ Public Relations with a minor in art. My goal is to work together with the county and its local businesses to create a “post summer, pre season tabloid or insert for the DeWitt Era-

Enterprise. This hunting/fishing and lodging guide would include basic information on lodges and local businesses that would be necessary for any visitors year round. All of the local lodges, stores, and companies are invited to be a part of this project. If you have a lodge or other accommodations, or if you just want to know more about the project, please feel free to contact me anytime, and if I don’t answer be sure to leave a voicemail. In addition to the hunting/fishing and lodging information, I am going to write a few of my own articles about the county’s rich history. So far I’ve thought about, the Arkansas Giant Cypress, Arkansas Post, White River National Wildlife Refuge. There will also be features articles to look forward to covering local businesses and their staffs. About me Well my parents actually met while serving in the U.S. Army, and I was delivered at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. From there we drove to Fairbanks, Alaska, because my dad got stationed at Fort Wainwright. I don’t remember much from those years, I guess it’s more of a dream than anything else. However, at some point, my father followed a friend to Missouri and we ended up where we reside still today. I enjoy artwork and create some of my own sculptures and paintings, but I enjoy playing guitar the most. I’ve only played for about two years now, but everything I do is acoustic, and I enjoy classic to alternative rock music the most.
