Ash Grove Annual Fish Fry Draws Largest Crowd Ever Submi ed by Mary Ann Dixon Administrator Photos by Cle s McConnell Vede e Reporter

The Ash Grove Sunshine Center’s 12th Annual All-You-Can-Eat Fish Fry was held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 and was a huge success. Approximately 400 people enjoyed the delicious fish dinner, making it the biggest crowd ever. Thanks to Larry and Justin Kenney for bringing the pots and leading all the other volunteers in frying up the good food. Some of the Ash Grove football boys came to lend a hand with the fundraiser, along with other outside crew of John Goddard, Richard Wells, Gayer Dixon, Sway Kenney (aka Curly Fry Princess) and Audrey Dixon-Glenn (aka Hushpuppy Queen). Many volunteers kept the inside jobs flowing for the huge crowd. Huge thanks goes to all for their hard work. Special thanks go out to Freedom Bank, Old Missouri Bank and Foxfire Mini Storage/Mega Suds Carwash for donations to cover the cost of the fish. “I couldn’t believe the continuous line out the

door and down the sidewalk. We’ve never had a crowd like that. You expect that at Everton, but never been that way here,” says center administrator, Mary Ann Dixon. “Several folks suggested we have more than one fish fry a year. That would be nice, but it’s a lot of hard work and requires a lot of volunteers. However, we are open to the idea. We’ll have to see about next year.” A portion of the proceeds go to the Southwest Missouri Office On Aging
