RALLS COUNTY FOOD DISTRIBUTION DATE

The members of the First Baptist Church of New London will be distributing supplemental food to eligible Ralls County residents on Thursday, November 6. In order to receive this food a family or person must qualify through the federal poverty guidelines. The food is supplied by the Central Missouri Food Bank. Distribution will be conducted from 1:00p.m. To 5:00p.m. At the church. Entrance doors will be marked at the rear church entrance. Applicants are asked to bring some proof of financial eligibility the day of distribution. Food stamp recipients are automatically eligible to receive commodities. 911 MEETING DATE CHANGED

Notice is hereby given that the Ralls County 911 Board will conduct a meeting at 7:00p.m. On Thursday, November 13, 2014 in the training/ conference room of the 911 building located at 17630 Highway 19, New London, MO. This is a change from the original date of November 11.

MS SUPPORT GROUP MEETING

The Mark Twain Multiple Sclerosis ‘Talk MS’ Support Group will hold their next meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at 7 PM, at the Ralls County Health Office building in New London. No program planned. SHOOTER EDUCATION PROGRAM

The first night of the shooter’s education program, sponsored by the Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department, is Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. Signup is available at that time. The class is 6:30-9 p.m. Thursdays through Feb. 26, 2015. There will be no class during school holidays or weather-related closings. The free class is a firearm safety awareness program for children ages 8-16. Participants are required to bring safety glasses. The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) held its Annual Meeting and Installation of Officers and Directors Dinner on October 28 at the Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall in Bowling Green. NECAC is a 12-county area social service, community health and public housing Community Action Agency that contracts with federal, state and local governments, private businesses and other not-for profit organizations to operate and

administer self-sufficiency service programs for the low-income, elderly, youth, disabled and disadvantaged population. The agency’s Central Administration Offices are located in Bowling Green, with NECAC Service Centers operated in each county. NECAC is one of 19 non-profit Community Action Agencies in Missouri and part of a national network of 980 agencies. In his annual report, NECAC President and Chief Executive Offi-

On Saturday, November 1, 2014, the MTHS cross country teams headed into the district meet, not anticipating what would happen next. It was a sunny morning, temperatures in the mid 40’s, and a slight breeze at the Pike County Fairgrounds where the district meet was held. “My athletes/ teams had nothing to lose,” said Coach Erin Mack. “This was a first-year program and I knew I had a lot of talent on these teams, but never expected the outcome that would soon follow after the Class 2 District 3 girls race.” At the conclusion of the

race, as they were awaiting the results, the District Meet host, Matt Chance, called Mack over to the results table and said “Coach, your girls got 2nd place - THEY ADVANCE TO THE STATE MEET!” “What!? I think we were all in more shock than anything else,” said Mack “It was a tie for second place at districts between us and Father Tolton Catholic School and it was our 6th place runner, Anna Gill, that put us ahead of them and into 2nd place!
