All Halloween photos by Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger This macabre site is part of an elaborate Halloween display at the Miler home in the 900 block of Grand St., in Lamar. Besides the elaborate headstones, there is also a huge lighted spider web, a skeleton, ghoul and various other decorations adorning the front of the house. By MELODY METZGER Lamar Democrat Halloween Hullabaloo, sponsored by the Barton County Chamber of Commerce, was held Friday, Oct. 31. Although the day was chilly, the sun shone brightly on the participants that were donned in a variety of costumes as they paraded around the Lamar Square. Various local businesses participated in the trick or treating for the masses of children that walked the square. A costume

contest was held at 4 p.m., at the bandstand, with too many entries to mention. There were several spectacular costumes, both store bought and handmade, with an array of creative ideas. If it was up to me, probably each and everyone would have received a prize, but unfortunately, they had to be narrowed down to the top three. The categories consisted of children ages birth to three years, four to eight years, nine years old and up and recycled costumes.

Those placing in the birth to three year old category were, left to right, two year old Eli McWilliams, son of Rachel McWilliams and Chris Wynn, as a tank, winning third place; six month old Elliot Onstott, son of TJ and Jill Onstott, as a Cabbage Patch doll, taking first place and two year old Roddie Onstott, son of Lacee and Rodney Onstott, as a rodeo clown, placing second.
