“My favorite TAPM moment/event during NHCW 2025 was the book bag giveaway. It gave me great joy to see the children walk out our office wearing smiles and carrying their book bags as they prepare for the upcoming school year. Special thanks to Wilburn and WellCare for donating the book bags and school supplies. Praying for a successful and safe school year for all the children.”
“My favorite moments of health center week were the pictures of DeAngelo dressed up like a tooth. Also seeing the kiddos get their book bags. They loved them!”

“My favorite Moment was the Health Fair Event @ TAPM Eugene St. I never miss an moment to work an event at Eugene. I love meeting new people that could become our future patient. These beautiful people always have some amazing stories of their lives that they trust enough to share with not just me but all the ladies that work at these events. I love to see the hope and happiness when we speak and treat them as what they are wonderful people that had been delt a bad hand. I will continue working these events because bring people from the community help, hope and most of all happiness is the reason I joined TAPM.”
“My favorite moment from NHCW was seeing pictures of all the kids who received bag packs for school.”
"I loved getting to connect with coworkers outside of our normal routines. The week felt like a true celebration of both our patients and the amazing team I’m proud to be part of."
What inspired you to apply for the TAPM Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program?
I’ve always admired my mother, who works in healthcare. Seeing her passion for patients and the joy she brought home each day inspired me to follow in her footsteps The TAPM apprenticeship felt like the perfect way to begin my own journey learning from professionals, gaining real-world experience, and making a difference in people’s lives.
How did balancing classroom learning with hands-on experience prepare you for this career?
The classroom gave me a strong foundation in medical knowledge, and the hands-on training helped me put that learning into practice right away. Doing both together gave me confidence and helped me understand things on a deeper level.
What was the most valuable lesson you gained during your apprenticeship?
The most important skill I gained was learning how to build trust and communicate with patients. It’s not just about procedures it’s about making patients feel seen, heard, and cared for.

How did TAPM support your growth?
The friendships and support I found at TAPM made a huge difference Working and learning alongside my peers taught me the value of teamwork and gave me the confidence to keep going, even when things were challenging.
What advice would you give to others interested in this program?
Never give up, even when it’s hard. Don’t be afraid to ask for help TAPM is full of people who want to see you succeed. Every step forward matters, and the relationships you build along the way will be part of your support system.
What are you most excited about as you begin your next chapter as a CMA at TAPM?
I’m excited to put my training into action, keep learning from my colleagues, and build trusting relationships with patients. It feels amazing to begin a career where I can make a real difference every day
I was inspired to apply because this was my first opportunity to work in the medical field. I honestly didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do prior to applying. I just knew I always wanted to work in the field, and I ended up finding a passion for what I do!
How did balancing classroom learning with hands-on experience prepare you for this career?
Balancing the two worked well for me. I found working in the clinic helpful to learning in the classroom. I believe it would be more of a challenge if I had to learn without the hands-on experience
What was the most valuable lesson you gained during your apprenticeship?
The most valuable lesson I learned came from my preceptor, Sharleen. She always tells me to know your worth and never let anyone make you feel unworthy of yourself. I’ll always keep this in mind. The most valuable skill I learned was phlebotomy. I also found a passion in phlebotomy; it’s so satisfying when I get a good stick

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to shine a light on hope, healing, and the power of community connection. It is an opportunity to remember lives lost, acknowledge the struggles that too often remain unseen, and strengthen our commitment to supporting one another. Suicide prevention begins with awareness, but it grows through action. Each of us can make a difference by starting honest conversations, checking in on friends or loved ones, and reminding people that help is available. Sometimes a single moment of compassion can be the turning point that saves a life.
Throughout this month, organizations nationwide are sharing tools and resources to encourage prevention and awareness:
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline – Free, confidential support 24/7 by call, text, or chat
#BeThe1To Campaign – Guidance on how to talk with someone who may be struggling
SAMHSA Suicide Prevention Toolkit – Evidencebased strategies to support communities
CDC Suicide Prevention Resources – Best practices, data, and prevention tools
At TAPM, we remain committed to walking beside our patients and neighbors with care and compassion. Suicide is a complex public health issue, but together we can help reduce stigma, strengthen hope, and make sure no one feels alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. Support is available, and help is within reach today and every day.
“ONE HONEST CONVERSATION CAN BE A TURNING POINT IN SOMEONE’S LIFE.”

September is Healthy Aging Month, a time to celebrate positive aging and focus on simple ways to support long-term well-being. Healthy aging is about more than just physical health. It includes caring for our bodies, minds, and social connections in ways that allow us to maintain purpose, independence, and joy throughout life.
Staying active is one of the best ways to support healthy aging. Regular movement, such as walking, stretching, or strength training, helps maintain balance, protect heart health, and support bone strength. Pairing physical activity with a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains provides the body with the fuel it needs to stay strong and resilient.
Equally important is protecting mental and emotional health. Meaningful activities such as volunteering, learning new skills, or joining social groups can help keep the mind sharp and reduce feelings of isolation. Strong relationships with family, friends, and community also play a key role in building resilience and supporting overall wellness.
Preventive care rounds out the picture. Regular checkups, screenings, and open conversations with healthcare providers help identify changes early and keep individuals on track with their health goals. At TAPM, we are here to support every stage of life by providing care, guidance, and resources that help our patients thrive. Healthy aging begins with small steps today that lead to a healthier tomorrow.
