Birthdays & Anniversaries

As October begins, we embrace a season of reflection and renewal The fall months remind us of the importance of preparation and steady growth, both in our work and in the lives of those we serve Our focus remains clear: to deliver quality care, support our patients and families, and continue building a healthier future for our community

Welcome to TAPM Dental

We are proud to share a tour of TAPM’s brand-new Pediatric Dental office, led by Dr. Anbec DeShield. This important expansion allows us to serve children and adolescents from birth through age 21 with high-quality, compassionate dental care. For many families in our community, access to pediatric dental services has been limited, and this new site fills a critical gap in care.

The launch of TAPM Dental reflects our ongoing commitment to whole-person health. By adding dental services alongside our existing primary care, behavioral health, and community programs, TAPM continues to break down barriers and provide families with comprehensive care under one umbrella. This integration means that oral health can be addressed as part of a child’s overall well-being, which directly impacts school attendance, growth, and long-term outcomes.

Dr. DeShield brings both expertise and warmth to this new practice. In the video tour, she highlights how TAPM Dental is designed to make young patients feel comfortable and supported at every stage, whether it is a baby’s first checkup, preventive care for school-aged children, or treatment for teens and young adults. Her focus on education and prevention also helps families feel confident in maintaining healthy habits at home.

We encourage all staff to take a few minutes to watch the video and celebrate this exciting milestone. The opening of TAPM Dental represents not just a new service line, but a continuation of our mission in action. Together, we are ensuring that every child in our community has access to the care they deserve.

Pathways to Mental Health

PRIORITIZING YOUR WELL-BEING

October 10th is recognized as World Mental Health Day, a time to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of caring for our mental well-being. Mental health is just as vital as physical health, and taking steps to protect it can improve every part of our lives.

Stress, anxiety, or depression can feel overwhelming, which is why it is so important to check in with yourself and those around you. Small actions can make a big difference such as taking breaks during the day, practicing deep breathing, getting outside for a walk, or talking with a trusted colleague, friend, or counselor.

At TAPM, we are committed to supporting the whole person, including mental and emotional health. By fostering a culture where it is safe to talk about challenges, encourage one another, and seek help when needed, we can break down stigma and strengthen our workplace community.

This month, let’s remember to make space for mental health. Prioritize rest, reach out for support, and extend kindness to others who may be struggling. A healthier mind leads to a healthier workplace and a healthier community.

Pathways to Wellness

EARLY DETECTION SAVES LIVES: THE IMPORTANCE OF SCREENINGS

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder of the importance of prevention and early detection. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women, and while men can also be affected, women face the highest risk. When caught early, treatment is often more effective and survival rates improve significantly.

For most women, mammograms are recommended beginning at age 40, but family history and other risk factors may mean screenings should begin sooner. Knowing your personal risk and having open conversations with your healthcare provider can make all the difference.

Awareness also means being attentive to changes in your own body. If you or your loved ones notice anything unusual, such as new lumps, breast pain, skin changes, or nipple discharge, do not ignore it. Taking quick action can save lives.

At TAPM, we believe in caring for our community by first caring for ourselves. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity for us to encourage one another to stay on top of screenings, support colleagues and family members who may be navigating a diagnosis, and promote a culture of wellness. Together, we can make prevention a priority and remind each other that early detection truly saves lives.

Q4 Core Value

As we enter the fourth quarter of the year, TAPM is proud to highlight Quality Care as our guiding core value. Quality Care is more than medical treatment. It is a promise to deliver compassionate, evidencebased, and patient-centered care in every interaction.

At TAPM, Quality Care means listening closely, acting with precision, and striving for continuous improvement. It shows up in the accuracy of our diagnoses, the effectiveness of our care plans, and the attention we give to patient education. It is not only about treating illness, but also about promoting wellness and prevention so our patients and families can thrive.

Quality Care is the standard that strengthens trust with our patients, inspires teamwork among our staff, and sets us apart as a healthcare provider dedicated to our mission. It reminds us that every detail matters, from how we greet patients at the front desk to how we follow up after a visit. Each action reflects our commitment to safe, effective, and compassionate service.

Take pride in the excellence of your work, share ideas for improvement, and continue to put patients and families at the center of all we do.
