As personal fulfillment, I love helping people, try to make their life better. When somebody comes in the clinic frustrated and she/he leaves with the smile on her/his face that is a win for me, makes my heart happy and TAPM allows me to do so every day

Professionally, I always worked as Patient Service Representative in other companies, but they never had any opportunity to grow within the company and TAPM is giving me that opportunity in just 7 months! It is a wonderful feeling when a company trusts you in that way.

Healthy Lifestyle Changes Lowering Cholesterol

Your food choices affects your cholesterol. To lower your cholesterol, limit foods high in saturated fat and avoid foods with trans fat. These fats raise your “bad” cholesterol (LDL). Adding more soluble fiber and plantbased foods to your diet can lower your LDL cholesterol while also giving you the nutrition you need for an active, vibrant life.

Does my food choices impact my cholesterol?

Yes, what you eat can affect the amount of cholesterol circulating in your blood. Cholesterol is a waxy substance that your body needs to function. Your liver produces enough cholesterol to support your body’s processes. So, you don’t need to get it from food (and it’s not an essential nutrient) The cholesterol you gain from your diet is extra and unnecessary, like adding sand to a beach That being said, your diet only affects about 20% to 30% of the cholesterol in your blood.

There are certain foods that cause your “bad” cholesterol (LDL) level to rise higher than normal. On the other hand, other foods can help lower your LDL level. Knowing which foods to eat and which foods to avoid can help you manage your cholesterol levels and lower your risk of heart disease

What

is the major nutritional source of cholesterol?

The major nutritional source of cholesterol (called dietary cholesterol) is animal products. These include meats, cheeses and dairy products When it comes to lowering your cholesterol levels, research shows it’s not dietary cholesterol we should worry about Instead, two types of unhealthy fats saturated fat and trans fat are the culprits behind elevated bad cholesterol. It just so happens that many of the foods high in dietary cholesterol also may contain these unhealthy fats.

Healthy Lifestyle Changes Lowering Cholesterol

Here are some steps you can take to lower your cholesterol with your diet:

Add more soluble fiber to your diet

Limit your intake of saturated fat

· Don’t eat trans fat

· Eat balanced meals

· Add more soluble fiber to your diet

Add more soluble fiber to your diet by eating:

Dried beans, lentils and split peas. Apples, blackberries and citrus fruits.

· Oats and oat bran

· Brown rice

Some ingredients help lower your LDL cholesterol. The main one to know is soluble fiber. This is a form of fiber that’s water-soluble. Soluble fiber binds around bile (which is composed of cholesterol) and removes it with your body’s waste. Aim for 10 to 25 grams of soluble fiber per day Ask your provider what amount is best for you based on your calorie needs

Limit your intake of saturated fat

Saturated fat is a type of fat that’s solid at room temperature. Common sources of saturated fat include:

· Processed meat, including hot dogs, sausage, bacon and pepperoni

· Fatty cuts of meat, including ribs, poultry with the skin and highly marbled meat

· Full-fat dairy products, including butter, heavy cream, cream cheese and sour cream C il d l il

Ying's Recipe of the Month

Lentils and Greens with Apples

Ingredients:

green or brown lentils (rinsed and drained) 1 cup

low sodium vegetable broth3 cup

olive oil 2 tbsp

garlic (minced) 2 clove

mixed greens (chopped)4 cup

apple (cored and thinly sliced) 1 med

Apple Cider Vinegar1/4 cup

Dijon Mustard 1 tsp

maple syrup 1 tsp

Salt 1/4 tsp

black pepper 1/4 tsp

avocado (diced) 1/2 med

walnuts (chopped) 1/4 cup

4 servings 1 cup

In a medium saucepan, combine dry lentils and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes or until lentils are tender. Drain any excess liquid.

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.

Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

Stir in the chopped mixed greens and cook until wilted.

4. Add cooked lentils to the skillet, stirring to combine with the greens.

5. In a small bowl, whisk together apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, salt and pepper.

6. Pour the dressing over the lentil and greens mixture. Stir to coat evenly.

7. Gently fold in the thinly sliced apples. Sprinkle chopped walnuts over the top and finish with the avocado.
